This was my first stop during my trip to Boston and was pretty disappointing. I ordered the burger of the day, a salmon burger, but they were fresh out of the salmon(understandable considering we were eating pretty late). Rather, I was served a very average chicken sandwich in place of the salmon. The chicken was low quality and I left most of it on my plate. I was hoping we would be charged less for the sandwich since it was not the salmon but we were charged for the salmon sandwich that I did not receive. On a positive note, my boyfriend loved his burger: the toad burger!

Decent food. Not spectacular. Service is standard, can’t complain. Sitting outside is very noisy with Massachusetts Ave traffic whizzing by. I would eat here again.

So after going several times, I found some flaws… They don’t do Latin food well. Just stick to American and Italian foods and you won’t be disappointed.

I usually come here a couple of times a month for food and have never once had a bad meal. Food: I’ve probably had about half of their menu at this point. While there are some flavors or preparations that just don’t work for me(e.g.: the asparagus is never cooked enough for my taste), meals overall are very satisfactory. Prices are very reasonable. And they have a decent sized gluten free menu. Service: Usually pretty decent, though more than once I have gone with only one glass of water my entire meal — usually not by choice. Otherwise, servers are generally pretty accommodating, friendly, and answer questions. Occasionally, I will come with a friend who is gluten free or allergic to dairy. Servers are very thorough making sure that what they would like to order is able to be made to accommodate their dietary constraints. Ambiance: Generally a little dimmer than I otherwise prefer. There is always art on the walls, which is nice, and the views from the second floor are quite lovely. Some of the tables, especially for two people, can be very small or cramped against a wall, but the larger tables are roomier. Even when busy, it is not too noisy. Overall, this is one of my go-to spots in the Camberville area for a solidly satisfying and reasonably priced meal.

We come here every Sunday for brunch, and they’re usually great about seating us even as a large group. The specials list is always worth checking, and the stuffed french toast is a good option if you like the fruit combo that week. Eggs benedict are solid. Menu is frequently changing, so there’s usually something new to try. The beer list is decent, though too many IPA’s and not enough Belgians if you ask me :) Biggest disappointment is the omelets though. I love omelets, but the eggs in it are just wrong. I’m told they use the same eggs as their other dishes, but they come out too firm and like a block of foam. No lightness or fluffiness to them at all I’m afraid. Try the burger of the day, or the breakfast croissant is always a good fallback.

Very nice place. We went to the bar next-door to listen to music and after horrible service at that place walk next-door to Christophers. The female bartender was awesome and beyond pleasant. There is plenty of room at the bar and a great atmosphere for dinner. We had appetizers, drinks and dinner which were all very good. After dinner the bartender arrange the cab to take us to a place she recommended for music in the area which was also a great spot. We had a great experience here thanks to a great bartender, great atmosphere and good food. Thank you Christophers!

Every time I come here I hope to have a better food than the last time. A very generic experience. Veggie burger is good, I heard. Personally I am not a fan. It’s a little dry. The side salad is much better. This place is popular for brunches as well. Imo, pretty average serving as well as taste.

Nice place to come to and have a burger and beer! It has a very nice casual vibe, nice selection of appetizers and beer. My friend and I had the calamari, spinach dip(awesome) and then we proceeded to our main course; burgers. I had the mushroom burger which was delicious! It’s very conveniently located by Porter square, so it’s a great place to meet friends coming via transportation!

Since I live in the area I go to Christopher’s quite often. I think that a review about this place can be summed up with one word — «solid». Most of the waiters and waitresses are really nice and some of them are mnmmeeehh. kinda nice. So all and all, the service is solid. The dishes I’ve had so far(monstah burger, regular burger, clam chowder, salads) are just as you expect them to be when dining in a pub(a good pub, that is). Not great food, but by all means good. In other words — solid. The décor is nicely old fashioned(apart from the paintings which are not exactly to my taste) and the prices are not expensive nor cheap. Solid place

Amazing veggie burger & they let you add on whatever you want. Their clam chowder is phenomenal. My fiancé got a burger that he really enjoyed(bleu cheese one – cooked perfectly at medium and tasty) and he loved the clam chowder as well. Dan was one of the best bartenders I’ve ever had-very informative and thoughtful about what he was recommending food-and-beverage-wise. Awesome place that we will definitely return to. Oh! Try their cocktails– ESP the black buffalo(BESTEVER).

Upon arrival, my friend and I were told there would be a 25 minute wait. We were seated in less than 10 minutes at a cozy table next to the fireplace. For appetizers we ordered the spicy cheese tater tots and the mussels swimming in a lemon caper sauce with fries that had a garlic ranch dipping sauce. All were flavorful and tasted amazing! The pitcher of sangria came highly recommended, however we could not decide whether to order the white or red. So we got both! One at a time of course :) For the entrée, I ordered the catch of the day. Pan seared red snapper fillet on top of roasted red potatoes and topped with sauteed spinach, tomato in a creamy butter sauce. The fish was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I could have lick the plate because the butter cream sauce was so good! My friend had the triple decker turkey club with extra bacon sandwich and homemade fries(which he dip in the butter cream sauce on my plate.) We wanted to share a dessert but could not decide on one. So we ordered the crème brûlée and the bread pudding. The crème brûlée had the perfect balance of mocha and sweetness. The bread pudding was warm topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce which was a perfect complement to the dish. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable of the specials of the day/menu. I highly recommend Christopher’s.

I really love this place. If I were to choose between this place and Cambridge commons, Christopher’s would win, hands down. They have a great food/beer selection and their tater tots are the perfect snack/meal all in one. Waitstaff is always great and friendly. Can’t go wrong with this place to grab a drink or stay for dinner.

Came here with my friend, and we tried different items on the menu. We were really bummed though, as they didn’t have that many vegan or vegetarian options, but we settled on the Brussels sprouts without the bacon and blue cheese which were really good!, buffalo tofu which wasn’t that good, the tofu was battered and fried, and when you cut into it you can see that the tofu is escaping from the batter so you are left with a plain piece of tofu. We also both had the veggie burgers which were OK, but needed to be a little more juicy as it was a little too dry. but we were stuffed and had some left overs to take home. overall it was an OK experience. the waitress wasn’t half bad as well.

My wife and I both got the pumpkin half chicken with sweet mashed potatoes. What a treat! The chicken was perfect, the sauce juicy and flavorful, the mashed potatoes just right. The green beans, however, were really undercooked. Bummer. Super friendly service, lively atmosphere, good view of Porter Square upstairs. We’ll come again!

The 10 – 15 no it’s wait was worth it for a table next to the fire place. Our calamari came out quickly. it didn’t seem like the calamari we’ve enjoyed before. The batter was different and the calamari was a bit chewy. My siracha bbq pulled pork was very good. The meat was piled high and The cheese was melted. I thought I would need more sauce but I didn’t. The siracha bbq was tasty and not overly spicy hot. The fries were hot. My date has the southwestern burger and found it to be tasty even the 2nd half of the bun got soggy — gotta eat it fast or flip the burger top bun down! Our server was good — attentive but not intrusive.

This place gets me. On some very base levels. The food is good, the staff is always friendly and accommodating. Sometimes it runs a little slow, but then I never come in here in a hurry. The Buffalo Tofu. OMG. It’s what keeps me coming back. Every time. It’s amazing. The veggie burger is good, too. No one I have ever come here with has complained about the food. I was brought here by friends SPECIFICALLY for the tofu, tho. It really is that good. The draught selection is great, always changing with some good off the beaten path beers. They do a full bar service, too.

I can’t believe I haven’t eaten here yet. I live fairly close to Porter Square and usually only end up at Christopher’s for drinks. My friend and I decided to get dinner here after an exhausting day of shopping and mayhem. We were seated right away and our server was so pleasant. Order the fried pickles! They were amazing and I can’t even describe the love I now have for the buttermilk dipping sauce that came with them. So Tasty! Also my friend and I ordered one of their specials her the chicken burger and I the gnocchi. Neither of us were disappointed in the slightest. I will tell you they give generous portions for the prices and they are just as good as leftovers. Also I can’t forget to mention how decently priced the cocktails were. I will definitely be coming back here again.

very slow service. I’ve been here for 25 minutes now and am still waiting for my food. no idea when it is coming and it doesn’t look promising. the restaurant is not even full. absolutely terrible service and unacceptable update: got my food 30 mins later. staff slightly apologetic. home fries is too oily and there are some bad chunks… French toast also too heavy. I ate here 6 months ago and loved it. I was excited to come back, but this time it was incredibly underwhelming. this ruined my day. i feel depressed.

I really don’t like to write bad reviews, but… Christopher’s really doesn’t deserve a good review. I’ve been here for 3 times and I don’t think I’ll go again. The service is super slow. One time, I had to wait almost 40 minutes for a sandwich. The food is not so great. The environment is depressing and dark. If you want to eat something and have a beer with friends, I suggest McCabes on Mass, which is like a block away from C’s. Tavern in the Square across the street is also another option.

Christopher’s is the friendly Porter Square bar that everyone knows and goes to. It has everything you need in a solid bar: a variety of decent burgers, a surprisingly wide selection of beers that changes seasonally, and wonderful service. While Christopher’s won’t change how you view bars or transcend food, it does provide an ideal bar experience, and anyone in the Porter Square area would be remiss to avoid it.

My commute to work takes me by this little hole in the wall restaurant every day and it has been bookmarked on my Unilocal list. This is a decent place overall with good food at reasonable prices and friendly service. It was very busy for a Wednesday night with a short wait for a table and this is a good indicator of its popularity. My favorite part of this restaurant is the atmosphere. The building has an older, dimly lit, historic feel to it and is very cozy. I loved our little table for two tucked away in the corner. A little candle was in the window next to us and it provided a perfect romantic backdrop on a rainy summer evening. We started our dinner with fried calamari as an appetizer and it was quite good. I went with the grilled salmon dinner as a healthier option after splurging on the fried calamari. The salmon was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of crisp to the outside. The side dishes, however, were a little disappointing. I have given risotto a chance in the past, but I am not a big fan. Their risotto creation mixed with kale and corn may be appealing to some, but is not my thing. It was accompanied by parsnip purée which tasted okay, but paired next to the risotto it all seemed very mushy. I would have loved a side of rice and asparagus instead. My date chose the steak tips which I sampled, but was not super impressed with the flavor. We both had a truly amazing steak earlier in the week, so in all fairness it may be hard for any steak to compete after that. Parking is tricky as Christopher’s is located right along Mass Ave, but don’t let that be a deterrent to giving this little spot a try.

I went this place for dinner with my husband tonight and we had healthy Cesar salad, boneless Buffalo, English burger and fish and chips with some beers. Their food were great because we were starving but nothing special. I mean, I know our choices are nothing special so I don’t complain. Lol I wanted to give 4stars but I’m considering we were starving so I give 3 stars . Service was just okay, no complain but nothing great. Pictures I took are great though.

Nice beer selection, friendly staff, cozy & comfortable environment. The veggie burger isn’t anything special… but I had to try it given the other Unilocal reviews. I much prefer the mushroom burger! For appetizers, get the fried pickles and/or mussels. So good.

I’m always skeptical of places literally across the street from T stations– somehow, it seems logical that they don’t have to work as hard to serve good food, since they’re guaranteed a crowd from the T. Christopher’s, however, disproves this point. They’re one block from Porter and are one of the ass-kickingist bars/restaurants in Porter Square. There’s plenty of seating at the bar and around the restaurant– don’t forget the upstairs. Service is friendly. The menu is pretty extensive, and most importantly, NOT expensive. You can do well for yourself for $ 15 – 20 here, which is not common for a sit-down restaurant in Cambridge. Culinary highlights include the Brussels sprouts with bacon and cheese, chicken panini, veggie burger(though I am not yet comfortable calling it the best veg burger in the area), and fries of all types. They’ve also got a great beer list with a sizeable list of rotating specials. Ultimately, in an era when limited-selection menus and small plates are the trend, Christopher’s provides a welcome respite to those who prefer choice and bigger portions in an unpretentious, cozy space. Whether you’re veg, gluten free, alcohol-only– chances are you’ll find something here you want to try, and you’ll want to stay a while, too.

Beer, good food, and family friendly atmosphere. I’ve been here a few times, and have enjoyed my time here. I always try the turkey club(something so simple, how can you screw it up?) And they made it perfectly. Great turkey, awesome bacon, bread nicely toasted and their fries were good. They made some great hearty food too, and their soup is great on a cold New England day. Two floors, comfortable seating, great staff. Not a bad spot to hit up with a small group.

Christopher’s is definitely my go-to neighborhood bar. Most importantly: TRYTHEJOHNNYDEPPRUMPUNCH! This not-to-sweet fruity drink that has a splash of pineapple juice was introduced a few summer’s ago and became such a hit that they put it on the menu permanently. The burgers are always perfectly portioned and juicy with a decent size helping of fries to share with your dining partner(or you can substitute it for a salad, of course). Service is always swift and efficient, even during peak times and the staff sets the bar for ‘welcoming service with a smile’. I’m not a beer fan, however, if you are you’ll love the variety draft selection offered. Based solely on what I’ve read in the descriptions or over heard from patrons their selection has something for everyone.
