Teri and Jack McCall run an exquisite B&B that is a family-owned, working organic farm. It is located on picturesque Santa Rosa Creek Road in the foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains five miles outside of Cambria. The entirety of this historic, meticulously maintained farmhouse, including its two second-floor guest rooms, is tastefully decorated and supremely comfortable. Outside, the fragrant flower gardens, welcoming front porch, and nearby citrus orchard are ideal places to explore on quiet mornings, sunny afternoons, or cool, moonlit evenings. The McCalls do an impressive yet unobtrusive job of caring for their visitors while also going about their professional and personal lives. You will feel privileged to spend a few days with them and their lovable assortment of pets — cats that will rest quietly on your lap on the porch and dogs who would like nothing more than take visitors on a tour of the hillside avocado fields that overlook the farmhouse. The farm provides organic produce to several of the best restaurants in the area(like Robin’s and Madeline’s). Jack and his sons also have stands at local farmers’ markets. If you are lucky, they will send you home with a handful of freshly-picked goods or allow you to pack some in a picnic lunch, one best enjoyed after a Paso Robles wine-tasting. And Teri’s breakfasts — savory frittatas, blueberry buttermilk pancakes, freshly-squeezed orange juice, steaming cups of hot coffee — are simply wonderful! This is hands-down one of the best B&Bs that my wife and I have ever visited across three continents(Europe, North America, Australia) and a superb weekend getaway or Big Sur road trip detour. Book two nights at a minimum! You will be sorry to leave any sooner!
