Mikki just told me she could not make a reservation for me since my husband and I requested 2 adults and a 6-month old. She says they are not set up for babies and the rooms are not baby proofed. Are hotel rooms baby proofed? Nope. And they still allow babies. Almost discrimination. I checked the website policies on what is prohibited and read nothing about an adult only b&b or that babies are prohibited. Wow, and this place had such great reviews. No thank you!

My friend and I recently stayed 3 nights in the Attached Cottage Suite. It was a delightful experience! The accommodations are conveniently located to both the East Village of Cambria and Highway 1. It is quite a lovely and quiet setting. The gardens have several hummingbirds because Mikki keeps the feeders well stocked. She also takes very good care of her guests, providing them with a delicious breakfast and snacks. The Suite was comfortable and clean. Mikki really does go the extra mile to please her guests. She is a very sweet woman and fun to talk to. I’m looking forward to my next visit at Bauer’s Gilded Nest.

Mikki is very helpful and serves en-suite a delicious breakfast of sausage, home-preserved fruit, and omelet. Her home is easy to reach from the 101 and is a delightful walk via 217 rustic steps winding through the woodsy slope above the village — both isolated and convenient simultaneously.

10 Reasons to Stay At Bauer’s Gilded Nest 1. The lowest price for a Cambria B and B. Hey Cambria ain’t cheap.(Say… unlike me.) For $ 120 I was able to get the Artist Studio at the Gilded Nest. Try going lower than that — and you’ll be staying out of Cambria. 2. No 2-day minimum stay on weekends like most other Cambria B and Bs. 3. 2 minute drive away from downtown Cambria. Being such small town, we were only a couple of minutes away from the shops, restaurants, and beach. 4. Only 2 guest units — so privacy is practically guaranteed. 5. Greeted with a welcome set up of wine, cheeses, and crackers in our room. 6. Beautiful garden full of interesting knick knacks and sculptures. 7. Comfy beds, ample blankets and quilts. 8. Cool, artistic touches throughout the unit. 9. The elevated Continental Breakfast was satisfying: chicken apple sausages, fruits, oatmeal, home made granola, muffins, pastry, fruit cup, coffee, purified water, and apple juice. 10. An amazing hostess(Mikki) who went out of her way to ensure that our stay was perfect. What a sweetheart. Vanessa and I fell in love with Mikki immediately.(I swear Mikki and Vanessa kissed — on the cheek — 4 separate times). She treated us like family. A combination of privacy, value, comfort, and a hostess that really cares — elevates this Bed and Breakfast to a 5 star review. Check in now!

Mikki was great. The accomodations were clean and comfortable. The food was great. I love the privacy — private entrance, private breakfast, the whole shot. The Nest is very centrally located. We’ll be back.

Charming, artsy private homestay less than five minutes from downtown Cambria. Great upstairs/downstairs space all to ourselves. Even a secluded patio was at our disposal. She had snacks waiting for us when we arrived plus brekkie items all set for the next day. Appreciated the separate exterior entry just for us plus the wifi available! Only concern was that we shared a wall with the main house. This translated to loud dog barking on occasion. Also, the volume on the answering machine is cranked up, so from our bed we not only heard all incoming calls, but the messages left.

We found this little gem through a referral — Her Castle Homestay was booked full, but referred us to Mikki and boy did we luck out. The price was ideal, and accommodations were a perfect blend of B&B and private guest house. For $ 125, we got an entire studio loft cottage complete with kitchen, queen bed, bath, –ultra– comfy lounging robes, and the B&B experiences except for no breakfast with strangers. Sometimes that’s nice when you have a romantic getaway. Mikki gave us all the info we needed, made us fresh scones, and even provided us with a parting gift of some magnets. She’s an artist and her work is displayed all around the studio. We’d definitely stay here again!
