I’m truly perplexed by the rave reviews. My experience at Dragon Bistro was so terrible it’s laughable. The below average food wasn’t worth the awful ordeal. The appalling customer service of the hostess was downright nightmarish. The restaurant had ample tables available yet she left us waiting and waiting — a party of only two. Others would enter, she’d acknowledge them, seat them, and completely ignore us — in fact one customer pointed to us and told her«they were here first» yet she still attended to him instead! Unreal. When she finally begrudgingly sat us, she would not serve us, we once again were left ignored. She served everyone around us, while we waited for her to even take our order — mind you, it was not particularly busy and we politely tried to flag her attention numerous times. We nearly walked out. Finally another waiter came to serve us, not much friendlier, but at least acknowledging us as patrons. Absolutely rude and unacceptable. Zero stars.

You can’t put«bistro» behind the name of some place and expect to make people pay $ 12 – 18 for subpar, mediocre Chinese food. Sklar T was right, panda express could have done better than this place. Unfortunately, this is one of the spots that open late in Cambria(9pm), so we didn’t have too many options… We ordered beef lo mein, kung pao chicken, and honey walnut shrimp. The kung pao chicken was probably one of the worst kung paos I’ve ever had. The flavor wasnt salty enough, but the blandness was just a weird, odd flavor. The beef lo mein had the same odd, unsalty flavor as the kung pao chicken. The only thing that was passable was the honey walnut shrimp. For $ 12.50, you get about 10 shrimps. Maybe because I live in a city with a vast variety of yummy Chinese food, but this place just failed in my book.

Hint: Double check your take out order. Picked up take out order and got back to our hotel room only to find one of the dishes was not what we ordered. This has happened several times now. Not a happy customer.

I had lunch special– chicken curry with egg drop soup, egg roll and fried rice for $ 8.95, reasonable price, nice and clean, great ambience. I would recommend this place.

The food is absolutely disgusting. Chicken was rubbery and brown and shrimp and lobster sauce was very fishy. Most of the meal was left behind and not eaten.

This was my first time here and it was a great find! I was seated by the window and loved the amazing view. So peaceful. I ordered the bachelor’s meal which was perfect for one. The egg drop soup was the first course, then came the crab stuffed appetizer and egg roll which was super yummy! Finished the meal with fried rice and chicken chop suey which had such a great flavor. The best part however was the Jasmine hot tea! It was truly warming and calming! Thank you for the great experience!

Good food. Clean, well kept restaurant. LOVE the staff. Egg drop soup is souper yummy.(See what I did there?). All the dishes I have had are flavorful and enough to take home. Beer is cold and the tea is hot. Give it a try.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants — the Peking beef is to die for! Crispy, crunchy, sweet, hot and garlicky! The hot and sour Soup only needed a tad of hot chili oil where as most restaurant’s hot and sour needs so much added before I’ll eat it– soy, hot sauce– vinegar… Egg rolls were good too!

Came here for lunch on New Years Day. We decided to dine in, it was a bit busy but the food was delicious. I will definitley return each time we visit Cambria! I’m glad that we came back to the Dragon Bistro!

They have some decent Chinese food(when you consider the local offerings), but they were pretty understaffed. The same lady was coming in and out of the kitchen, cleaning tables, shuffling guests in, helping guests at the register, and taking phone calls — she seemed so busy I felt tired watching her rush around… And when it was busy, it got really hectic at the front desk with crowds of people waiting to be seated jumbled together with the groups of people trying to pay their bills(especially since there wasn’t always someone at the front desk). The crowds eventually calmed down, but there were quite a number of confused patrons that night. On separate note, the women’s restroom was quite clean!

The food in the Cambria and San Simeon is pricey and not so great in general. Rating on a curve this place gets three stars. It’s saving grace is, it is not so pricey if you are a on a budget. I find panda express is better but if you are in for Chinese food here in Cambria, this seems to be the only game in town. Wild ginger the other chinese place does not look promising, with too many complains of high price and small portions. Great reviews by locals which I guess are friends or don’t know any better.

It’s the only real Chinese restaurant in town, so if you have a hankering for Chinese food, this is the place. Prices aren’t too bad, and lunch specials between $ 8.95 and $ 9.95 aren’t a bad deal since the meal comes with a choice of hot & sour or egg drop soup, a vegetarian egg roll, and choice of steamed or fried rice. Hot & Sour Soup was decent, and egg roll was nice and crispy without being too greasy. I chose the Kung Pao San Yan(3 delicacies — beef, chicken and shrimp). Decent, but could be spicier, and less saucy. I think Panda Express actually makes a better Kung Pao(gasp)… Steamed rice seemed to be rice leftover from the night before, reheated. A friend ordered the Cashew Chicken lunch special, which came out looking just like my Kung Pao but with cashews and chicken instead of peanuts, beef, chicken, shrimp and dried red chiles. Vegetable Duluxe had a nice combination of vegetables used, though there seemed to be a bit too much bok choy stems in the dish. Service wasn’t bad, though. Nice atmosphere for a relaxing meal.

I had dinner here with friends on a Saturday night while passing through Cambria. I found this place on Unilocal and suggested it to my friends since it appeared to be reasonably priced and I wasn’t in the mood to eat American food. You can tell that there isn’t a lot of Asian restaurants around this area, so my expectations for authenticity and flavor weren’t particularly high to begin with, but I figured it would be a solid three star experience. I ordered a vegetable and tofu soup that cost me close to $ 8 and tasted rather plain, but the warm broth was sort of comforting paired with the cold weather that evening. My experience of the food here was a solid three stars – it was fine for a one time experience, but was nothing that I would seek out again. What drops this review to two stars though is the very inefficient and slow service that we experienced. When we arrived, there was no staff to greet us and we waited several minutes before someone appeared and took us to a table. Then when we were ready to leave, it took at least 20 minutes for us to settle our check since we couldn’t get anyone’s attention. They were clearly understaffed with only two people visibly working a fairly full dining area. There was no apology either for the wait and I was both ignored and shrugged off when I tried to get someone’s attention to pay our bill. I don’t plan on coming back and suggest that you dine somewhere else in Cambria – especially if you only have a limited amount of time to eat.

I know, Chinese food at the coast? We travel with children and they can be a bit selective. This is our in between restaraunt. It’s not pizza or chicken tenders. They won’t eat fish or shrimp. However, they will sit down and have some orange chicken, pan fried noodles, and paper wrapped chicken. We get to sit and eat in a restaurant and we all get to eat something other than the usual take out. The paper wrapped chicken was tasty but smaller sized than what we are used to. The orange chicken looked as if they prepared it themselves and was not too thick in consistency. The pan fried noodles had chicken and fresh veggies mixed in. Overall it was tasty and not too salty. The food here is well proportioned and a little pricey for Chinese food. But considering we are in the small town of Cambria it is a normally priced meal. It took a while for us to be seated because there was no one attending the front register. We almost left and I am glad we didn’t. We left full and happy! We will be coming back for more on our next visit to Cambria.

Really good Chinese food in an unexpected place. The lunch specials are really great(under $ 10) and you get a good amount of food that fills you up. You get soup, egg roll, rice and choice of entrée. They also give you hot tea. I love the Mongolian beef; great flavor with lots of meat and fresh onions and peppers. The veggies are cooked just perfect with a little crunch. The staff was very attentive and we got our food hot and quickly. My husband had the orange chicken and the sauce was delicious! The quality of chicken they use is great and it is cooked perfectly… not dry at all. The breading on the chicken was great too. My parents live in the area, so we have to stop by and eat everytime we come to visit.

I’m Vegan. and it’s hard to find tasty food with no dairy or animal anthing. This place made the best tofu cashew dish. Plus the served me spring roll and steamed rice at the lunch special price. I would say I would stop in here again on my next trip to town. Plus service was fast and helpful. Worth a visit

The only Chinese place in Cambria. I kid you not… That being said, I have tried many orange chicken dishes before and this was the best orange chicken I ever had. It wasn’t greasy and flavored just right. I was baffled because I was craving some Chinese food and surprised at how good it was. The egg drop soup was just as delicious. Everything was so fresh and you can tell just made. The green tea was insulated well and I love when teas are warm throughout your dining experience. I find often, anytime I order tea at places, they never stay warm so I constantly find myself asking for refills. In any case, I would def give it a try. Service was great and it’s a cozy spot with more than ample parking across the street.
