I actually really enjoyed the food here. The sushi chef made a particular plate of sashimi, poke etc. as I asked for it, which was fresh, had variety and though a bit over the top with the ‘high art’ presentation, which bugs me, so be it. I went in several times after and ordered the exact same thing.(I’m really pleased to have found this secret place because I was usually one of the few people there.) On the downside… they always seem to be in a state of transition, with new owners and menu changes every week. It’s obvious the room is far too large for the business they do. From one day to the next, my special lunch plate doubled in price with no explanation. What made it worse is their denial that I was ever served such a thing aka I must have imagined the entire thing. Uncomfortable management style always puts me off. Haven’t been there since.

Absolutely perfect for large groups. Pretty good food, service was lacking apart from our great chef.

This is by far the best tepan restaurant I’ve ever been to!!! The food always tastes so fresh and the experience is always delightful. I always recommend this place to all my friends and family and they all agree. The only minor thing I wish they would do better is to have someone greet us right away once we walk in instead of waiting for at least 5 minutes. And yes, this happens every time. But who cares, when food is this good, it’s worth waiting.

Bravo to the sushi chefs. I am allergic to shellfish and the chefs consistently deliver excellent food that is free of any allergens. They will work with me and substitute so that I may have almost any meal or roll on the menu. The service is hit and miss but the amazing food more than makes up for it. Very local very low key. Cute little bar is great for catching the game solo and little booths alongside the sushi station make dining a fun experience, assuming the chefs aren’t too busy!

I had sushi here which took forever to come out despite there was next to nobody there. the food was good but nothing great. when i paid i didnt get my card back. i ended up signing the bill and since i didnt see my card i thought i had already put it away. i left and when i realized it less than an hour later they were already closed… before their posted hours on the door. i showed up the next day, a monday, where they were supposed to be open for lunch and dinner. nothing. nobody came. nobody answered the phone. the next day i show up and some guy that works there said they were only open for dinner and its been like that for a while. i said i really dont care what he has going on. the door is open and im going in. i want my credit card. this was the last weekend before Christmas and i need my card. he checks the cards that people left and mine was not there. he says it might be locked in the register and he doesn’t have the key. hours later finally the the lady with the only f’ing key showed up to open the register. my card was in there and she hands it to me with no apology or some sort of compensation for their screw up and making me wait for two damn days… i am still pissed. dont go there! this place sucks!

On our way home from the airport in traffic, out of gas, 3 tired kids that needed to be fed. Saw this place off the freeway by an easy gas station. Why not? You cannot screw up teriyaki chicken and California rolls right… The hostess was sweet and gave us a booth right away. I noticed the sushi chef was not Japanese and sort of acknowledged us but not really. I went to wash my hands and was immediately enveloped in a horrific smell. I’m still on the mind set«what could go wrong?» The waitress brought drinks, my husband and one child ordered water and both spit it out and said it tasted like it came outve a hose. They reordered drinks and asked for bottled water(none) and settled for lemonade and a beer for hubby. The waitress was in the know about the water situation but seemed helpless. I ordered cold sake which was poured into a wine glass… I’m starting to get the feeling that the staff isn’t fully trained. Ok, it’s half price sushi night! We are getting out of here cheap and fast!(Wrong). We ordered 2 miso soups, edamame appetizer, 2appetizer teriyaki chicken, and 3 sides of rice. Holy Smokes! What a cluster! Edamame was stale/old, sides of rice came out and then 2 full teriyaki dinner plates with California rolls. Wait a minute! This is not at all we ordered or the way we ordered it. The sushi showed up last and half was missing. I told the waitress to forget the missing order but she insisted on having the chef(?) prepare it. So we now have 32slices of California rolls(to go box please?) and my sushi was a bit old tasting. I never use soy sauce or wasabi but I had to this time. As I write this, I’m not feeling so hot… the waitress was terribly sorry for the confusion, straightened out the bill the best she could. We noticed the table next to us seemed to have the same issues. She did comp our drinks and we left her a decent tip. I could tell she was stressed and hadn’t been given proper training. So, we will scratch this one off the list.

We used to go to Yamato at this location often. Finally decided to try Sushi Teri, and was thrilled. The food was delicious, perfectly prepared, and the service was wonderful. Just love when restaurants have someone dedicated to refilling water and clearing dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant, and will definitely come here again!

(Disclaimer: this is a very good review despite only 4 stars). I showed up here a few weeks ago because I needed sushi. When I showed up to sit at the bar by myself, the only people i could see were the hostess and my chef… and there was creappy country music blaring through the speakers. BUT…I ordered a sushi combo, the California roll tasted like any other CA roll I’ve had the state, delicious but uninteresting. The nigiri was incredible. I needed more. I asked the chef for 4 more pieces, chef’s choice(which took a bit, but he was getting his team ready as I showed up in the first 30 min of dinner service). He came to me, asked me which fish I had preferred, and matched his own sauces to each fish and served to me personally, giving me 6 pieces to make sure I experienced all he wanted me to. I like that in a chef. This man absolutely knows what he is doing, he blew my mind. I have had fresher fish but I don’t think I have had such amazing flavors. His hand-made sauces are absolutely divine. There’s a reason I always ask for chef’s choice, and this was the best proof of it. Wonderful sushi. why 4 stars? because country music on the radio and understaffing is a bummer. More importantly, the sushi restaurant shares a space with a 2nd-rate benihana type teppan house that was populated with annoying kids and drunk parents, even so early. 10 stars for their chef. I will be back, but I will not order anything for myself. He knows flavor better than I ever will and has mastered it. Bravo.

I’m not really big into talking about my restaurant experiences, especially those those that are not particularly good, but I feel compelled to write about Sushi Teri in Camarillo. Mind you, I’ve only been here two times, once after it opened and more recently, both times for lunch in the sushi bar area. I actually felt pretty bad for the place, as we walked in around 11:45 am and were the only customers in the entire restaurant. When we left just after 1pm, not a single additional customer had walked into the restaurant. We sat at one of the tables next to what used to be a rotating sushi conveyor belt(used by the previous owners), which at the time was one of the highlights of the restaurant for me. They don’t use the conveyor anymore. I was reminded of how uncomfortable some of these seats are. I’m not a big guy, well under 6 feet tall, yet when I sit in these seats, only half of my upper leg even fits on the seat, making it quite uncomfortable. Feels almost like I’m squatting the entire meal. The first time I ate here I tried one of the rolls and it was ok, nothing to write home about. I tried the salmon sushi this time and it was actually pretty good. The miso soup was decent too. But where I went wrong was the chicken bowl. The price of the bowl was quite reasonable for the large quantity of food in the bowl. But the chicken had that«has been sitting out too long before cooking» foul fowl smell that I just could not take. And there was quite a massive pile of chicken in that bowl. I decided to move some of the pieces onto another plate as I searched around looking for smaller pieces to try, along with the rice and a few tasteless pieces of broccoli and carrots. As the pile of stinky chicken piled up, I continued picking away, eating mostly rice with terriyaki sauce. They asked how everything was. I decided to take the high road and say«ok» when it was pretty apparent by the massive pile of chicken sitting uneaten in front of me that obviously, all was not well. Kind of comical actually, Two guys alone in the restaurant for over an hour. One guy picking at his food like a child. That would be me. Just didn’t like it. We left and I guess they knew I didn’t like it as they didn’t offer up a to go box for the 85% of the food sitting there uneaten in front of me. On a positive note, the iced tea was fine. Served cold, with ice. And the napkin and chopsticks seemed to work ok. And there was PLENTY of available parking! In fact, I could have parked a couple big rigs in the parking lot without a problem. So I give one star for the decent salmon sushi and another star for the cold iced tea and functional napkin and chopsticks. Two in total. I don’t think I’ll be back.

It was great! It was my first time here and I enjoyed my time. Quick pros and cons: Pros: — Food was fantastic! The dipping sauces were great! — Sake Bombs pretty basic, but still good. — Sushi was pretty good. I enjoyed them. — We came at 9:30 and they closed at 10pm, they were still very kind and allowed us to have dinner there Cons: — The Teppan guy didn’t do any special tricks or do anything as far as the«show» goes. He kinda just stood there and cooked and acted as if nothing was exciting to him. I mean, I understand that we came in late, but still… we’re paying customers. The ONE trick or entertainment thing he did was the onion volcano. We even had to get him to do something fun by sharing a sake bomb with him. But, meh. That’s where the star went down. Overall, I’d definitely go for the food. I’d love a different teppan guy though. That’d make my experience so much better.

I went in with a group of 16, called and RSVP’d the day before, nothing special just friends getting together for dinner. RSVP’d for 7:30 last person didnt get there till 7:50 to give you a time line. I order’d the steak and chicken, maybe its me but usually the teppan chef asks me how I want my steak cooked(this didnt happen) a friend next to me order’d the scallops and shrimp and they got her order wrong, they didnt have enough friend rice for her and she only got half a bowl and they thought she order’d the salmon. Went through the meal fine waitress brought drinks and refilled when needed so that was good, pre bused a little so waitress helped in overall experience. The atmosphere was nice and clean and prices were normal only thing different was +$ 2 if you wanted fried rice which I think is normal of some teppan places. Overall the establishment had good parking, was clean, not busy at all, but lost 2 stars for our teppan experience. The teppan show was the weakest Ive seen from any Teppan restaurant.

Great place for affordable teppan and sushi. Got a filet mignon plate and it came with much more than I had anticipated for $ 16. Great and friendly service with large portions, along with decently priced sushi/sashimi. I will definitely come again, and I highly recommend this restaurant!

So glad that Sushi Teri is now here in Ventura County. One of my good friends used to work at the original Sushi Teri in Santa Barbara over 10 years ago. I remember all of us would get together and have a feast at the one in Santa Barbara. Everything was so delicious there and I had wished we had a Sushi Teri out here. We got excited that Sushi Teri had opened in Camarillo! The California roll is very delicious and it melts in your mouth. The chicken teriyaki is very delicious. It’s charbroiled and most Japanese restaurants don’t make their teriyaki’s charbroiled. It’s either pan fried or charbroiled looking but no flavor. I was afraid that it might not taste like the restaurant in Goleta when I ordered take out to go. But everything tastes just as good as the original restaurant. They give you a lot of food here and the price is pretty good. My mom is a chirashi lover and is a hard critic to please. Well she gives her thumbs up for Sushi Teri’s chirashi dinner bowl. She says the chirashi rice has a good flavor with the sushi vinegar seasoning. Where as some other restaurants would put small cuts of sashimi on a bowl of plain unflavored rice. That is not sushi! Consider that a plain rice ball with sashimi on it. Sushi Teri had a nice assortments of sashimi on the chirashi. Where as some other Japanese restaurants has a set chirashi with only 8 pieces of sashimi on a bed of plain unflavored sushi rice or flavored sushi rice. We really like Sushi Teri’s food! The hostess who took my order to go was very nice. We hope they don’t change their recipes and they will be here for a long time. We will be back for more good Japanese food!

Tried this place last Wednesday looking for another restaurant. VERY large portions. We ordered the Terriyaki Steak and it melted like butter on the palate. The wait staff was on top of our needs.(sometimes a bit much). We went back Saturday with our grandkids. They enjoyed the food & fire-show put on by the chef.

Welcome to Camarillo, Sushi Teri Teppan House(STTH). WoW! We found a great place with great customer service, family atmosphere and delicious sushi. We ordered out and I cannot think of anything bad to say. The prices are reasonable, the rolls are fresh and the hospitality… top notch. We’ve been looking for a new sushi restaurant and thanks to STTH, we’ve found it. Can’t wait to try the Teppan. Check out the pics I’ve posted but most importantly, go try out this new spot in Camarillo.
