Soo Yuan is a wonderful back-up when we don’t feel like cooking. Always fresh and tasty, fast service and definitely affordable, best deal in town!

We drove over from Santa Rosa, worth the trip. The soup had so many things in it and it was egg drop. Had crispy ginger chicken, fresh tender chicken and great sauce with a little bit of a kick. The lemon chicken, oh so good, the sauce perfect. Very cute place with very good service.

My family ate dinner here and it was great! Every dish was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the sweet and sour battered vegetables — the batter was light and crispy, the veggies fresh, it was perfectly cooked and the sauce was oh so yummy! Our waitress was genuinely warm, welcoming and funny. She made us feel right at home. And she was fast, efficient and kept a good eye on our table without hovering. I will eat here every time I’m in Calistoga!

So I ordered this Delivery to my hotel because I didn’t feel like going out. They obviously don’t deliver much to Luxe Calistoga because they had no clue where it was. It’s just me so I ordered a sweet and sour chicken dinner with house fried rice and a spring roll. My meal came and was like $ 35?!? For that price, at least give me some silverware! Had to figure out how to eat my rice with no silverware(side room of hotel separate from main building). Portions were massive so i feel bad about all the wasting I’m about to do but… I ordered a dinner and was given all large sides. Chicken was good but could have skipped big chunks of pepper and onion. Sour sauce was not good comparatively. House fried rice was delicious, I wish I had a fork or spoon to the eat it! Spring rolls will go to waste– not a fan.

Been to Calistoga many times, but this was my first time visiting Soo Yuan. It was my gf’s birthday, and she loves Chinese food(and she’s half Chinese). Had a massage at the place across the street, and looking over at the restaurant, my first thought was that it looked small(hole-in-the-wall type of place). I thought maybe gf would want to go someplace else, being that it was her birthday, but she wanted to check it out. So glad we did! Yes, it’s a small place and not much to look at from the outside compared to the fancy eateries nearby. Gf spoke Mandarin to the young man who took our order, and she ordered four dishes, plus rice. The young man jokingly told her it was too much food for us. True, the portions were large! The food was excellent!!! Everything was very fresh and delicious. The food came out fast and hot. Vegetables were tender-crisp and the flavors in all the dishes were perfect. The service was wonderful and staff was very quick to refill water and get us anything we needed. They moved us to a bigger table without us having to ask(we started at a table for two) so that we could spread out our food(hahahaha!). The staff joked with my gf in Mandarin and she liked the interaction. She ended up having a perfect dining experience on her birthday. It was a supremely satisfying meal at a reasonable price. I can not recommend this restaurant enough and would encourage anyone visiting the area to stop in for an authentic Chinese meal, delicious food, and exquisite service.

We went here after a week of not eating rice. That first spoonful of the house special fried rice was heavenly. We also ordered the sweet & sour pork. It was good but nothing like the fried rice. Will come back again next time to try the other dishes.

Everything was lightning fast! And really tasty! By far beat orange chucked I’ve ever had. Fried rice was made just for me, without onions, as I’m allergic to them! Chow fun with beef was cooked really well, and think slices of beef cooked through. Very tasteful! Plus complimentary hot green tea? Definitely coming back next time I’m in town.

Great place to have food with family. Love just about everything they have to serve. I love the pot stickers and the egg rolls.

Don’t let the unassuming storefront turn you away. This place has fantastic food. The orange beef had a not overly sweet sauce. I was really pleasantly surprised at the quality of food. I make it a point to have a meal here when visiting from SF.

The food was excellent, service was good and everything tastes fresh and hot. My one year old LOVED the food and staff. Portion size was ok but being that it’s meant to be shared we expected the plates to be packed a little heavier.

This long-time local standby — usally for wonton soup on a cold rainy night, but we know how long ago that’s been — has vastly improved … No longer just old style greasy fried stuff … But delicious fried starters and entrees well seasoned and properly cooked … We love pot stickers — cooked just right and not dripping grease — and seem to be stuck on the ginger chicken: large pieces of breaded then fried white meat with a delicious sauce over a light bed of shredded cabbage … Delish! With Tsingtao on the side. … A delightful meal! Now we don’t have to wait for rainy nights … Well be back sooner …

The food here is delicious. I’m not a pro when it comes to Chinese food but I really enjoy their lemon chicken and garlic fish! The people are nice, the place is small but nice. Chow fun chicken is also a go to choice for me.

Stopped in after a spa day and had beef chow fun, kungpao chicken and sweet and sour pork with some rice. I liked the chow fun best. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere.

My husband and I took a motorcycle ride over to Calistoga, for lunch. We found Soo Yuan among some over priced restaurants. We had the hot and sour soup, fried rice and the ginger chicken. Everything was yummy! The hot and sour soup was a little too hot for my husband… but I loved it! The pork fried rice was the best I’ve had in a very long time. The ginger chicken could have had a little bit more ginger, but, there was NO mystery chicken! We both enjoyed Soo Yuan!

I finally had dinner at Soo Yuan after a lazy Saturday afternoon and it was an amazing experience. The restaurant reminds me a lot of many of the family restaurants I used to eat at in Mainland China. The food is very fresh — the best I have had in Napa Valley. The service could not be any better and the staff is focused on serving the guests. The facility is small, but very nicely decorated and extremely clean. I plan to make it a regular stop going forward. Xie –Xie

I dropped in here on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch and was quite taken with the basic, no-nonsense quality of this Chinese-American cuisine. Very good chicken with black bean sauce — lots of veggies as well as chicken — and a surprisingly large(and good!) cup of house soup. There’s something to be said for basic Chinese-American style; it’s a hybrid cuisine that is loved by many. This restaurant does it as well as any. Basic décor, no frills. I found the service speedy, attentive, and professional. Great location as well; if you’ve had enough Napa Valley upscale modernist California cuisine, this is a refreshing return to normality.

This is my go to olace for quick and wonderful Chinese food. Before I worked in Calistoga I would get the kids in the car and make the drive for the best Chinese food in the Valley, im my humble opinion. The Owners always sincerly greet me amd are so nice. I have been so many times and always left happy.

Was on my way out of town on a very stormy night and wanted a decent quick bite before the 2+ hour drive home. Didn’t want fast food and didn’t want, or have the time for a $$ dining experience. This popped up on Unilocal as one of the few spots open and meeting my needs. It really hit the spot. I had a bowl of won ton noodle soup that was delicious. It was nice and hot with a great mixture of noodles veggies and other goodies. In the same spot would certainly hit this place again.

Food here deserves 5 stars. Very very good. But the reason why I did’nt put 5 stars, because when I was there with my mexican friend, waiter gave me soup but not for him even though we specifically remind him what he forgot. Free nice jasmine tea, excellent food, reasonable price — it’s all good. But chile sauce here was a disaster and completely screwed up my friend’s lunch. It’s a shame.
