They make promises they can handle large parties — absolutely not. We were q party of 40 and food did not come out for 2 hours. They have 3 servers handling the bar to serving all tables Benjamin the owner kept saying it’s coming in 5 mins almost every time for a 1.5 hour. Kids went to sleep hungry. The good thing is that owner felt sorry and did not charge for several dishes. Feel sorry for servers who got blamed due to slow kitchen — and possibly did not get the tips they deserved.

This is a hole in the wall place but the food is good. Nothing to jump up and down for but everything we ate was decent. Fast service… no complaints.

Overall: solid Mexican food in Calistoga Ambience/Service: There’s a cute outdoor seating area that runs along side the restaurant and was perfect for our group of 14 in late August. Service was fairly attentive and they got all of our orders right. Food(I’m vegetarian): I had a combo plate with the cheese enchiladas verdes and the chile relleno. I liked the enchilada way more than the chile relleno. The relleno was a bit too battered for my taste and the sauce was ok. The enchilada had a great green sauce and was perfectly done. The chips and salsa that come as you sit down were great. The salsa is definitely more on the spicy end and was super fresh. Summary: solid Mexican joint in Calistoga. It was great for us out-of-towners missing some solid Mexican food in California. It’s no Mission district but solid food.

When I received my credit card statement I noticed that I got overcharged by $ 1. To manipulate the final receipt and hope nobody will detect or care about it is unethical. Imagine doing that to 50 customers or more. Food was okay but I’m finished with this place because of this. Tried to call them and nobody is answering 707−942−6563. So here it is: Beware of Server ID: 1.

This place is cozy, friendly, and tasty. It’s noisy enough that I don’t feel awkward eating by myself, and quiet enough that I ‘m glad bringing friends here and socializing. There are 5 Mexican restaurants within 1 mile of my home. This is the one I like. Full bar helps– and if you’re not completely square, the Mariachi band is super fun. Go here– I’m disappointed anyone would review Puerto Vallarta badly. I really like it.

Chill, unpretentious, authentic Mexican food. Friendly staff. No surprises on the menu but everything that we ordered(guac, fish, meat) was good and it was all ready in under 10 mins. The indoor décor is not great– think cafeteria. Outside is better– it’s alongside a building, but is cozy with strings of Edison lights and a bunch of shaded tables.

It was a little hidden, but you should definitely seek it out. Food was excellent and service was great!

Tacos are so good here. They’re not on the menu oddly. Fantastic and courteous staff, chips salsa and guac are legit. Purple Hibiscus tea(cold w/ice) is refreshing and amazing

There are many things I love about Calistoga. This restaurant is definitely not making that«love» list, however. I’m no snob, honestly. Visiting this quaint, but expensive Napa valley town is living in style to me which is why I feel this restaurant deserves an honest review. If you’re spending some decent money to eat, which you almost always will in Calistoga, regardless of where you go, take your business elsewhere. The service was SLOW and wait staff inattentive, so much so the 8 year-old with us had to go inside after 20 minutes of waiting to ask for a refill on his drink… a request which didn’t even prompt our server to come see if anyone wise needed anything. Ugh! The salsa tasted soapy but considering the quality of the rest of the food, was not half bad. My poor sister came down with a violent case of food poisoning after(thankfully) being the only one to eat the chicken. In summation: diners beware!

Service very good, the chips and salsa delicious, but my food was luke warm. I didn’t say anything because we’ve enjoyed the food before and didn’t experience cool food. I’ll chalk this up to a busy night.

Get the tacos. $ 2.50 each– descent street tacos. They are not on the menu which is a little cray cray since it is called a tacqueria.

Pretty average food. When I worked in Calistoga I pretty much lived off of their chips and guac. Even though the guacamole could use a bit more flavor, more of a kick. They are super nice though, me and my extended family always show up with no warning on the Saturday after thanksgiving. There is usually about 20 of us and they are GREAT at accommodating us. They always offer to split the check and don’t give any attitude about the large crowd and how annoying that can be.

Not the best Mexican food I have had but definitely not the worst either. Chips and salsa are free of course but the salsa is mild … Enjoy

One word, delicious. Guacamole and salsa was extremely fresh. My girlfriend and I split a chicken taco platter with beans and rice, we were both amazed at how tasty the food was for a little obscure place. Not much ambiance here, but it is a must try if your all about the food.

Food was bland. Service was ok. I recommend not eating Mexican in calistoga. My mistake. Stick to Italian or American foods

The food here is wonderful but I tend to keep it simple and usually get the abaca do and tomato quesadilla. They serve you homemade salsa and chips to start. The salsa is great but a little too mild for my liking. The look of the restaurant is a little deceiving. It’s wonderful but the tables are covered in plastic and are usually sticky. The patio is covered with straw umbrellas that block all light and makes you feel like you’re in a nasty ally. I have never had a server be attentive enough to being me a bill so I just walk up to the counter. This could be their intent but how am I suppose to know?

Called in. Ordered a carne asada burrito. Woman on phone asks if I want salsa. I say yes. Come to pick up the burrito in person and it’s in a styrofoam container. I ask her if it’s a wet burrito, and she says«Yes. I asked you if you wanted salsa.» I say«Yes…INSIDE the burrito.» Instead of being cool and apologizing, she charges me $ 9.25 for the inconvenience of me having to throw away this burrito after attempting to eat a single bite of it. I will admit that she did offer to remake it, and she also offered me chips and salsa, but her attitude is absolutely unforgivable. I will never go back to this restaurant. Her tone of voice was the last thing I wanted to hear after a hike to table rock, when I was hangry as all get out and only had 10 minutes to get food. Still seething as I write this, but my promise about never eating here again still stands.
