Outstanding restaurant. We went there for brunch a few minutes after it opened at 9am. While it was a brisk morning, a well placed heating system circumscribed the large outdoor dining area, making it perfectly comfortable. Our waitstaff was diligent and attentive, though not pushy, and took the time to delightfully engage us when prompted. We had two brunch items: fried chicken and waffles and the special of the day, chicken and sausage gumbo. Both were fantastic: taste, seasoning, portion size, and presentation. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are interested in a modern, French-Creole experience at a reasonable price. I’ll certainly go back.

Small amounts of low-quality food, at expensive prices. My wife and I ordered a $ 60 steak/lobster combo, and received a hilariously small meal. Four bite-sized circles of meat, and a couple bites of lobster, served cold. The meat was extremely dry and basically unseasoned. The few bites of lobster tasted extremely fishy and was served plain. Boring. The insides are pretty nice, if nothing terribly fancy. The service was OK. We went on and got an appetizer and dessert at Calistoga Kitchen, which was a little homey but fun. The next night we went to All Seasons, which has a diner-like interior but really excellent food. Don’t even consider coming to Evangeline.

It’s maybe a good burger place trying to be a high end restaurant. My fish dish was ok but my partner’s chicken dish was boring and way over priced. Bummer, because the atmosphere and outdoor patio is real nice. Wine was good but at $ 14 a glass way also over priced.

We dined here twice over the holiday weekend, once for dinner, once for brunch, and this is now our favorite wine country dining — it has replaced SolBar(which has a Michelin star) in our affections! The wait staff are delightful, and the food — oh, that’s what it’s all about! Everything is clearly made with the high quality, fresh ingredients — the eggs taste the way they do when you get them on the farm(said I, a farmer’s granddaughter), the bacon is the best I’ve ever had, the rosti are what hash browns can only dream of being, and the salmon was sushi quality, I believe! For dinner I had melt-in-your mouth gnocchi with truffle butter, maitaki mushrooms and sauteed vegetables, so very good! We have come to trust Evangeline, to feel welcomed and at home there, and oh, did I mention the pamplemouse mimosa? Yum! This reminds me of leisurely sunday meals I had in France(alas, I’ve never been to New Orleans, which Evangeline is meant to evoke — but whatever the inspiration, I’m an Evangelista!)

This place was great, the service, the food, the layout. Took my girlfriend here for our anniversary and she loved it. I recommend sitting outside. it’s all covered and they have heat lamps and candles. really dope vibe. The food stood out. do yourself a favor and try the fried pickles and the snake river steak. make sure you try the fresh waffle with Nutella for desert too. overall 5 stars!

Awesome place in downtown Calistoga. We have stopped by this place quite a few times on our way up to Clear Lake. Lunch and Dinner menus are different and offer a variety of good entrees. Plus they offer Oysters !! BBQ pork sandwich with the local brew was awesome.

Love this place! Came here to celebrate our anniversary. We had the brunch menu and started off with Millionaires Bloody Mary and it was great! I ordered the shrimp poboy with fries and he ordered the special of the day– gumbo. Everything was delicious! Despite the rain, we sat outside in the covered garden area. The heaters kept our area warm. The restaurant has a nice ambience indoor and outdoor, gives you a relaxing feeling. We will definitely becoming back to try other dishes.

Girlfriend and I made a weekend trip to calistoga for our anniversary. I made reservations clearly describing our excitement to celebrate our anniversary dinner at Evangeline and also confirmed with the hostess the day before. I seemed to think if you are celebrating a special occasion at a restaurant, they would at least acknowledge it, but that’s not the case at Evangeline. Maybe it was becuase we were a younger couple or maybe they really just don’t care. PROS –Smoked salmon. The lox and potato combo was fantastic. Potato was fried to perfection. I recommend to order 1 per person as they are small portions. Cons –Terrible service. We were waited on by a pretentious server. Beware If your not a boojie«cultured» wine-o, he seems to write you off as «common folk».Never once checked on us nor acknowledged our existence other then taking our order. Staff won’t go the extra mile at all even if if you are spending $ 120+ for two. –Steak Frites wasn’t worth it. Nothing special about it. Ordered medium rare and still wasn’t tender enough. –Evangeline’s own Cabernet Sauvignon. I’m not at all a wine connoisseur, but it tasted way too sweet. Entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth, definitely won’t be going back there. I would summarize it as ok food with terrible service. Two stars becuase the food wasn’t as bad as the service.

I’ve been to Evangeline 3 times and have had great food each time. We had one exceptional server on October 4th and the other two times had average service. The food is fantastic; think french with a New Orleans undertone. Not great for gluten free/egg free people but if you’re going to cheat on your eating plan — do it here! The homemade buttermilk biscuit is worth it. Nice wines on tap, excellent outdoor seating and great vibe. A must do in Calistoga.

I came in on Saturday night and was a bit early for my reservation so I grabbed a drink at the bar with my date. The bartender was very nice and started us a cocktail right away. It was swanky and lively inside the bar area. I liked the cool atmosphere and the music was on point. When we sat outside our server started us with the foie and we opened a bottle of wine while we finished our delicious cocktails. The French 1226 is not to be missed, neither is the sazerac. Our foie was superb and so rich and flavorful. A real treat!!! The wine list is a highlight at this restaurant! It has the most interesting array of varietals and bottles from renowned and small speciality houses alike. And the prices ranged so there was something for everyone. Our food was amazing, we had the pork rack, nightly special, and the grilled salmon. It was perfection!!! Then to top it all off we had the waffle for dessert. It was so fabulous I considered ordering a second but managed to keep myself under control. I loved the outdoor ambiance, the garden was beautiful!!! It was romantic and welcoming and we had a heater on top of us to fight off the evening chill. I will be back as soon as I can!!!

If this restaurant were located in SF, it would be packed to the gills every night of the week. The food is exceptional, and we had stellar service at the bar. I had the heirloom tomato salad, which comes with brioche and burrata. It was the perfect amount of food for me, and the burrata was world-class. We shared fried brussel sprouts that were also cooked to perfection. My husband loved his meal, and our bartender waiter was funny, honest, and extremely attentive. Will be back for sure!

First time ever going here for brunch, we started with coffee and a millionaires Bloody Mary. Both were excellent. The service is very efficient and friendly. We were seated immediately. Benjamin our server brought out our entrees within 5 mins I believe. We had the Lobster omelette with Gruyère and side salad and Croque Marin both were amazing. We sat in the covered patio outside very tranquil setting. Just a great place to get brunch on a Sunday morning

This place is definitely 3 stars worthy, which makes me sad. I had higher hopes after seeing all the rave reviews online. The location, space, and ambiance is 5 stars. Super romantic, super cute, and very lovely. Their indoor space could use some more space. The food and service are 3 stars. We had dinner reservations for 9pm. Everything we tried ordering was sold out, seafood, quail, etc. All food items we did order, and wine too, were given to the wrong person after multiple times of indicating who ordered what. It was also super windy that day, and we were initially sitting outside. Whem we just walked in, we asked the hostess if sitting inside would be better given the intensity of the wind, and leaves blowing into our faces and water glasses, she insisted we were sitting in the best spot with the least wind, and did not offer any alternatives.(There were legitimately branches and leaves stuck in our hair and water due to the intense wind) We had to ask our waiter to be moved inside, and he thankfully moved us. Overall, the fact that most of the big menu items were no longer available when we ordered, coupled with the hostess not being helpful about seating us, gives the place 3 stars. Again, the place is really cute, and I would probably try coming back here for lunch, when hopefully the food is still available.

Great outdoor space, superb cocktails, good food! The mint julep and incognito were deliciously refreshing on a hot September day! The croque marin was excellent, not too heavy. It’s served on it’s own, so I recommend ordering a side of frites, which are nicely garnished with fresh rosemary.

Charming and relaxing french bistro with super cute and spacious outdoor patio that can accommodate an intimate dinner or a large group gathering. Excellent wine list as well as cocktail selections. While I like the French creole theme, our dishes were hit or miss and wish there was more character to the food. Oysters, pickled vegetable and fries were enjoyable, however tuna nicoise tartine lacked flavor and grilled salmon salad was too dry. Service was great so overall a good experience.

I don’t give out the 5 stars lightly. Evangeline was as deserving as it gets. I just finished the pork sandwich on a biscuit. Just incredible. The side was a slaw with peaches. Also outstanding. I had a bite of everything at our table, and there wasn’t a weak spot anywhere. Service was also excellent.

Food was great and the atmosphere is fantastic. I have one less star because our waitress could have been friendlier. She was very short and seemed irritated that we were there. The host was friendly though. He checked on our table a few times.

Promising new restaurant by the folks that gave us the awesome Sol Bar. The patio is nice and completely appropriate for sunny Calistoga. I like the screened pergola. The food gives a nod to Creole food. The food we had were delish and the menu was a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Service was a bit spotty but friendly. I think we were there too soon when they first opened. The server did not know what was in the cocktails and some of the menu items and we had to ask a few times, but she went to find answers for us, so that was nice. We’ll definitely be back.
