We’;ve been taking all three of our cars to Wilson Tire and Auto in Burtonsville for more than 20 years. They’ve always been courteous, straightforward and dedicated to maintaining our vehicles and troubleshooting problems when they arise. We like that they, and particularly Mike, is willing to explain in layman’s terms what the repair entails. Highly recommend this place!

I feel very ripped off after taking my car here for service. I had a discussion with one of the mechanics prior to bringing my car here to ask if they would do a valve clearance adjustment. He said it was no problem. A couple weeks later I call to make an appointment and tell the person on the phone that I want a valve clearance adjustment and he starts interrogating me «WHY do you want that done???» Because I’m the customer and I’m asking you to do it? Nope, not an acceptable answer. I then said I had a discussion with another mechanic there about it already. Also an unacceptable answer, even after he demanded to know who this person was I had spoken to and I had described him! Finally I just told him the manual recommended it. Then he finally relented. So I drop the car off one night because I am aware that valve clearances should be checked when the engine is cold, so they could work on it the next day. I had also asked for spark plugs. The next morning they call me and start interrogating me again about getting the valve clearances adjusted and who I had spoken to and why I wanted it done. I again described the mechanic I had spoken to and said the spark plugs would be $ 180. Then they called about an hour later to say the car was done, they had put new spark plugs. I asked if they had adjusted the valve clearances and he replied«not needed.» Rather than argue with this person on the phone, I just hung up. When I went to pick up the car, the mechanic who I had this discussion with 2 weeks earlier was helping me and said he «listened to the valves and they sound fine. You don’t want them too tight, I mean if we open up the cover we may as well adjust them.» In my head I was thinking«THATISEXACTLYWHAT I ASKEDYOUTODOANDWANTEDYOUTODO!» But I figured these people were either too incompetent to do it, or couldn’t make money off selling me overpriced parts, or are just plain lazy. So I paid the ridiculous sum of $ 207 including $ 18.97 of «miscellaneous shop fees» for putting in 4 spark plugs that probably cost them maybe $ 20 and 10 minutes of labor. Never will return.
