My family has lived in the DMV area for close to 6 years and I have somehow managed to never make it to the Greene Turtle. We received a coupon in the mail and were looking for something close by and casual for dinner, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself is in a good location, right off of 29. It is in a strip mall with other shops, so I could see how people might end up here before or after running some errands. The patio looked very nice and inviting, and I thought it was cool that they had a full bar both outside and inside. The restaurant was also very clean and well-organized. The food itself was okay, although nothing really blew me out of the water. I tried a dish that was new on the menu, the Cajun pasta. It comes with a «spicy»(mine was not at all spicy) Alfredo sauce, mushrooms, tomatoes, and your choice of protein(crab, chicken, or shrimp). I opted for the chicken. As I mentioned before, the sauce was not very spicy and lacked flavor. The chicken was well seasoned, but the combination of the spices tasted quite salty. My mom ordered the chicken fingers and they were delicious! If I am ever to return I would definitely order those. We didn’t try any drinks this time, although they had a huge selection. From what I could tell they offer lemonades with various flavors added(peach, raspberry, etc.) where you get free refills. Seems like a good deal! They also had a large selection of beers and mixed drinks. Overall, it seems that the Greene Turtle would be a great place to grab drinks and a bite to eat with friends while watching the big game-they had TVs everywhere. According to the calendar they had displayed up front they also do events throughout the week such as Trivia Nights and Happy Hours. The food was average bar food, but I can see how the atmosphere would make it a fun place to be. I would be willing to give it another try.

Absolutely amazing! We told our waiter that we were there to watch the hockey game and they dropped a huge projector screen right next to our table with the hockey game on it.

Got food poisoning so bad last year I had to run to their bathroom before we even got the bill. Decided to try them a year later… ordered a lunch special(half crab melt sandwich and garden salad). Got food poisoning again! As soon as I left I had to run into an adjacent building because I became violently ill! The food tastes alright, but not with the risk. Stay away.

Stopped by for late night drinks with the gang. We ordered the MIA in a shell. It is very close to a mimosa but on a large scale. They were out of prosecco and don’t have champagne. We ordered it with reisling wine which was sweet and suited the drink. They also won’t serve it unless there are four people or more in your party. We tried the hurricane shell and it was ok but I’ve had the better. FYI you can buy the shell to take home and each has a saying in the bottom. So drink up to find out what yours says. I think the shells are a novelty and fun but not worth the high cost. All the drinks from their menu were well crafted and mixed well, maybe a bit on low alcohol content however. The crabby Mary is a Bloody Mary loaded with crab meat. The Bloody Mary had excellent flavors and well balanced. The mint tea was delicious and refreshing. I love mint and this hit the spot. The lemon blitz was what I imagine to be the perfect summer cocktail with tart lemonade paired with a sweet deep eddy vodka. Outside of their menu the did well with jack and diet but totally failed making kamikaze shots. After we laughed and drank we had to get some snacks. The sliders were juicy and filling and paired well with the crispy onion straws. They even had live music and had a juke box in between the singers sets. TIP pay extra and hear your song now. The service was pleasant but slow, sometimes taking a long time to get a refill or only bringing one or two of ours drinks. Overall decent hangout and I would go back.

It’s called the Turtle because the service is so slow. It wasn’t busy at all when we were there, but the food took forever. The waitress was doing drive bys the whole time we were there, she’d finally being another drink or whatever, them immediately walk off without asking if we needed anything else. I’ve never had such a hard time getting a check before, our waitress went completely AWOL. Obviously a horribly managed restaurant, will not be going back.

First time I walked in to see servers playing games on their phone. They were oblivious and unattentive. It took forever to get a hostess to seat us and then the server never came. I had to get the managers attention just to get any service. The second time we had to seat ourselves in the empty dining area. Then we had to wave down a server to get menus and any service. Also the shell is overhyped. Reminds me of a lame college mixer.

Sat at the bar on an empty Sunday afternoon and could barely get any service(one should never have to ask for a refill in an empty place sitting at the bar). Fish tacos were meh, mostly due to the slaw having no flavor at all. It actually tasted like it was just ‘drained’ since it was also very wet. The restaurant itself is very nice, clean, and lots of TVs. Hopefully the food/service can improve.

Back again for a late lunch with the wife, our visits here are becoming a habit. I’ve learned my lesson on how to order here at the Green Turtle: Each week I’ll get what the wife got last week… her choices seem to turn out pretty good. We started out with another Mozzarella Caprese salad… This was predictably excellent and quickly brought to table. This week the wife ordered the Crab Cake Sandwich with french fried potatoes; I ordered the Spicy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with french fried potatoes. Both sandwiches were excellent; fresh, hot, and flavorful. The french fried potatoes were NOT hot and fresh, it seemed they had been prepared some time before our sandwiches. We brought this to the attention of our waiter«Rey» and he promised a replacement. The replacement fries arrived some time after we finished the sandwiches, but the replacement fries were excellent in temperature and flavor. Plenty of food, again more than enough for lunch. We both decided the Green Turtle can be a regular place for lunch, but we wish the kitchen would pay more attention to making sure all components of the plate are hot and fresh at the same time.

Been here twice(so good we came back)! The crab dip was great! Also enjoyed two tasty burgers and fresh fries. We also tried the crab soup(wonderful). However, the chicken philly wasn’t worth it, try something else. Fast and efficient service. Good vibe; relaxed and family friendly. Also loved the game! Try them out!

Pretty decent sports bar, with lots of TVs including some smaller ones in some booths. It was a bit loud, as we were seated by the bar where they were having trivia night and 2⁄1 drinks. Service was OK considering they had a good crowd. I did not care much for the crab soup, but I’m a local and therefore opinionated. The crab was not blue — not really sure what species — and the seasoning lacked complexity and had a bit too much heat. And yes, I grew up on Old Bay. The salmon was nicely flaky, but its glaze was a bit too strong for the fish. Haricot [skinny round green beans] were just a bit too crisp. The julienne veggies under the fish were the hidden gem, texture and seasoning right on point. The Cobb salad had a nice mix of crisp greens and a reasonable amount of toppings. Nothing exceptionally good or bad, so three *** it is.

Horrible service and mediocre food. We got here around 11:45PM. We waited in the front for someone to show us where to sit. However, no one came to us even when several employees saw us waiting. We had to get someone’s attention to get us seated. Once we were seated, the table was not clean with trash and used utensils on the table still. However, it was cleaned in the next minute. The place was not busy, so there is no excuse to why it was not cleaned before we were seated. Our waitress came a total of 3 times during our stay — getting our orders, distributing our food, & giving our checks. I did not get a refill on my water that was empty for most of our stay. There were no ice tea left and they ONLY serve fried foods after midnight. Our food for the most part was subpar to say the least. My party of 6 got 2 chicken tender baskets, fries, bulk of chicken wings, battered fish and chips, & monkey bread. The fries were one of the worst fries that I have tasted; it was cold and hard as if it were cooked and then left out for some time. The chicken wings were not that great; much lower quality than other restaurants. The chicken tenders were too salty. But I give them credit for their battered fish and monkey bread for they were good. The monkey bread is basically a cinnamon bun with vanilla ice cream on top. I would recommend the monkey bread as well as the battered fish(the fries that came with it as stated above is not good) if you find yourself in this restaurant. However, the price that we paid for our food was definitely not worth the amount and quality of food that we received. In addition, we waited for 45 minutes to get some of our food and an additional 15 minutes for the other 2 people’s food in our party. It was truly a disappointing experience but it is convenient for late night food and watching sports games with multiple large TVs.

After witnessing a lot of sketchy behavior at bars and restaurants over the past few years(nasty bartenders, patrons using bathrooms and walking out without washing the first hand) Greene Turtle at Burtonsville has, tonight, convinced me it’s time to start cooking and preparing my own meals at home. So while I’m sitting at the bar waiting patiently for my mozzarella squares, that seemed to take forever because they only had one cook, a server comes behind the bar to chat with his friend who was sitting at the bar. While he was slouched over, I saw this dude literally dig up his nose right out in the open at the bar not scratched or rubbed the outside, DUGINHISNOSTRIL! I almost had to do a double take. Like really damn didn’t even try to hide it. WOW! He then went right back to serving walking in and outta the kitchen like what! To add insult to injury, a group of Latinos are sitting behind me referring to one another as nigga this nigga that I mean loud and for quite some time. Now I know the younger Black generation uses this as a term of endearment, but I’m a 35 year old professor. I don’t refer to my black friends as nigga. They carried on with this for quite some time. The bartender and other patrons had to hear this, yet no one uttered a word. Now I wonder if I were sitting there with friends saying spic this and spic that if anyone would complain. WOW! Once the server dug up his nose, I just couldn’t fathom eating the mozzarella squares once they finally came out. If he openly picked his nose at the bar, can you imagine what they do in the back? Just complete utterly nasty. I told the manager about both incidents and reassured him I didn’t want anything free. I just thought he’d wanna know what’s going on in his restaurant. It’s time for me to retire from bars and eating out. The only way I can ensure my food is clean is if I’m in the kitchen preparing it. And after tonight, that’s what I’ll do!

Food took a while to come out, I would say because they are busy but this is my 4th time here and it’s never been speedy. Foods has been a hit or miss but the management has all ways been accommodating to concerns.(Cold fries, slow service, in correct order, etc.) All and all its a ok family atmosphere with some sports event on whenever you come. My kid loves the chicken tenders.

First visit was opening week. service crawled and food was greasy typical bar food. revisited 3 months later an service although improved was still impersonal and still on slow side, while the food was actually worse. How can you mess up crab dip? I was excited for Greene Turtle to open in Burtonsville intially but 2 strikes and you’re almost out for my hard earned money! The sad part is that if this place just stepped up their game a LITTLE the folks of Burtonsville would really embrace this restaurant. lets be honest we dont have many choices around here. P. S.Jay Turner in the kitchen is a gem. get a couple more like him who can cook!

For the most part, I like this Greene Turtle. My service, at times a little slow, has usually been pretty good. And usually, the food is okay. What I would say is that I find the food to be inconsistent. For one, my daughter’s kids meal go-to is the kids quesadilla, which includes fries and apples. On different occasions, they haven’t added the fries(and I’ve had to correct the server) or left off the apples. I don’t think that’s the servers fault, but maybe whoever is plating the food needs to know the menu a little better. Also, inconsistently, the crab soup. Sometimes I go and it’s phenomenal. Other times, like last night, it is barely lukewarm and way too thick, almost like a chowder. I just feel like they need some more training on consistency. That said, I really do like the atmosphere, and a lot of the food has been very good. Just a few little quirks that I think they need to work out.

I really wanted to have a great experience here. While the food was as expected, the service was so lackluster that I was getting close to getting up and leaving before the food came out. From the start, the waitress asked us if we were ready to order about 90 seconds after being seated, «Can I get you something to eat?» and then corrected herself with, «I mean, can I get you something to drink?» and then didn’t come back for what seemed to be about 8, maybe 9 minutes later. Our simple food order took about a half hour to come out – without a placating, «Lemme check on your order». Neither the waitress nor manager came to check on us if the order was good or correct. Then after finishing our food, we had to wait a while before even spotting the waitress to request the check. It seemed as every rule for good restauranting was broken. I couldn’t wait to leave. I really expect more on a lazy Saturday afternoon(no pun intended) — The hostess saluted with a, «Hope you come back soon» of which, I thought to myself: «I don’t think so!» It’s such a competitive world in the restaurant business – I don’t know how the Greene Turtle can afford to have such lackluster service.

My favorite thing about Greene turtle is the number of TV’s. On the dining floor each booth has its own TV and you can choose your game of choice. You can tell the location is new. I stopped by for a quick bite and to watch the end of a football game. I had a blackened chicken quesadilla which I thought was small for the price but had good flavor. The service was only okay though. I’ll keep this short and sweet until my next visit. Not a bad location but not quite great, I’ll update my review after another visit.

I went up to the bar and got greeted after 8 minutes of me watching the highlights of the Women’s World Cup. I wasnt offered a menu after placing my food order and wasn’t being attended to when my beverage was empty. Maybe it was because i was a new face amongst the typical members that frequent this establishment. But, I watched the bartender walk past me to the gentleman next to me who finished well after me and ask if he wanted a refill. On a positive note, the food was great. Maybe it’s a long day for this bartender or maybe they need more training. However, if i see her working the next time i come in, im going somewhere else.

I went to The Greene Turtle with my wife for our first time for Happy Hour. The food was good. We tried the Chili Nachos(which was not on the HH special list) and the Hog Hammers, which were superb. Their specialty beer/ale was just OK. It had some shell name. I would have given this a five star but the staff was a bit slow in getting us served; however, once served the waitress was very attentive to our needs.
