This place is quickly becoming one of my local favorites! This is one of the best wine selections I’ve seen in town! And I’m not just saying that because they carry wine from the Canary Islands. But they carry wine from the Canary Islands!!! Do y’all know how rare that is in the US, let alone in Vermont? Dedalus staff are truly good at what they do. Each and every staff member(at least the ones that I’ve encountered) is knowledgeable about their products and they each make their best effort at being as helpful and friendly as possible. Dedalus does wine tastings every few weeks(I think more than once per month), offering as much or as little explanation and background about the wine as you would like. They have books of maps to show you exactly where the grapes come from! How cool is that? A wine tasting at Dedalus is such a thorough and informative experience! Only problem is I can’t ever come in to browse without spending money. But is that really a problem when you’re getting something fun and delicious? Hmmm. I don’t know. But what I DO know is that Dedalus is awesome and you should stop by for a free tasting.

While Vermont is a challenging place to buy wine due to limited availability, this shop specializes in small production, high quality and excellent value wines. As a former wine industry grape nut, it’s great for me to be able to speak vino-slang and get great advice and great wine. The staff can help anyone, nut just an wine fanatic like me. Their imports are not run-of-mill and domestic selections are specialty items. Great personalized service. They also provide tasting opportunities and a wine club that gives members access to great wine and some members-only specials events including great wine dinners. Prices are reasonable.

After strolling down by the water one beautiful afternoon in Burlington, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this shop. For those of you who may be put off by the ostentatious attitude of many wine shops, the welcoming and knowledgeable staff will not make you feel out of place. They have wines to suit all budgets, host monthly wine classes and best of all, they have free wine tasting every Saturday from 1 — 7pm. This gem is well worth the visit and be sure to sign up for one of their Wine 101 classes — totally worth the $ 15. I have now become a loyal Dedalus fan!

Nice guys that host solid tastings on a regular basis. The business is new, but they are enthusiastic and passionate. Their selection is limited, but very reasonable and they host a number of events including the aforementioned tastings and classes, and according to the website they will be doing more, including dinners, in the near future.
