they do a fantastic job on their italian sub, the Sams special. Everything on it, with the garlic spread. the cheese they use is the perfect compliment to the meats that are used. I get it everytime i go in

This is a fantastic treasure of a sandwich shop that never goes out of style. They have a great assortment of sandwiches and their ingredients are always fresh and inviting. My favorite is their awesome, large meatball sandwich — the sauce is tasty, the meat is great quality and the bread always crunchy and fresh. The entire experience at this shop feels old school, too. The owners are really nice, hard-working, «salt of the earth» kind of people. Additionally, I feel great supporting a local business that has been part of the esteemed Burlingame business community for so long — Go Sam’s!

Came here today and had the Classic Sam’s Sando! Was in heaven. The sandwich here was massive and super flavorful. This will be a new regular spot for me.

I work right across the street from Sam’s and I love their sandwiches, they make it just the way I like it. The owners are sweet people and you get this homely feeling when you walk into the place. It’s located on an island with an outside area to eat. A perfect place to have lunch.

A great place to get a tasty and filling sandwich when in the Burlingame area. The Dutch Crunch bread is especially good.

As I was walking up to the establishment, I noticed it used to be an old Greyhound Bus Terminus, a tiny one at that. Time of visit was Friday, 82115, just after noon-05 Mass at St Catherine’s, at approximately 1300. Two women & a male, cashier, were behind the glass counter. I ordered the Sam’s Special on dutch crunch, with everything, & a large bowl of chili with cheese & onions. Sandwich was okay, arriving in a timely manner. Nothing to write home about. Bread was soft, moist & fresh. Luncheon meats were good. Cheese, however, had little if any flavor. It was a very okay sandwich, but nothing to rant & rave about and certainly nothing to make a special trip over. The chili, served in a Styrofoam Cup, accompanied with onions & cheese, was good, but it was nothing to write home about. Very standard. My check came to around $ 14+. Sandwich cost $ 9.20 out the door. Chili was $ 5.05(?) all in. I paid using folding cash. Total was between $ 14 – 15 bucks, which is very average for the area & vicinity. On the walls, there are photos & news articles regarding the US Navy. Not sure who was in the Navy, but there are a couple of articles on the wall. The building, décor & refrigerator all looked like something out of the 50’s – very old skool & reminded me as a kid living in the 60’s. Too bad their sandwiches are not of the old skool: humongous, flavorful, juicy & filling – gut busters! Hey, Sam, «When do we eat?»

I love this little stop and go sandwich place. I usually eat the tuna on sweet French roll with light mayo and light tuna along with the bag of Chips. this Little star has the homey Feeling and it’s great that they have outdoor seating. the sandwiches are usually made fast and quickly and it’s very simple, nothing complicated and nothing fancy just pure Good old sandwich. thank you guys for great service as always

This place has been a stalwart of mine since attending Burlingame High school. June and Gino do an amazing Italian sub. Make sure you order their garlic and special Italian sauce. Also, their macaroni salad is top notch! Fountain sodas and chips top off the menu. On a personal note: I was very sick and all I wanted was a Sams Sandwich to cure me. I live is S. F, so my Mom from Foster City came to my rescue! Once June heard my predicament she carefully packed my sandwich in parts, so I could assemble it at home without the bread getting soggy. She really went out of her way and I appreciated it so much! Dump? I don’t know of any dumps that will specially package your sandwich. Go. Experience the heavenly wonder!(and the bus station is worth seeing) I love you June and Gino… please keep doing what your doing. I would be lost without you!

I tried Sam’s Special sandwich with ham and cheese with all the fixings plus a «garlicky» spread on a(not too) crunchy full-length sourdough roll for $ 7.50; the old man Sam won’t hint what his secret sauce is … but I guess that’s what makes it special. I liked checking out the old photos of this former Greyhound bus stop. The ambiance reminds me of days gone by when a similar sandwich was under $ 2 — cie’ la vie!

I work in the area and have been trying to find a good sandwich place to go for lunch. I ordered a meatball sandwich from here… WORST meatball sandwich I’ve ever had! They gave me a half of a loaf of bread and inside it was stuffed with cold meatballs and lukewarm marinara. The bread was cold, the meatballs and sauce were barely warm. The marinara tasted like it’s been reheated for several days and the bread was also old. I will never go back here again. I wasted $ 10 on a disgusting meatball sandwich I didn’t even finish. Do not go here! Blue Line Pizza makes a meatball sandwich that is pretty dang good and it’s fresh and hot!

The worst sandwich I’ve had in my 33years of life. My 4 yr old makes better sandwiches! And he just puts meat and cheese on dry bread. I ordered the hot pastrami and it seemed like they just microwaved the meat cause cheese wasn’t melted and bread was still cold. The tomatoes tasted old and slimey. I threw the second half in the trash cause that’s where it belonged. The only thing I enjoyed was my soda, cause it washed that shitty taste out of my mouth! I have never written a review before, but I was craving a «deli» sandwich and I paid $ 12 to be painfully disappointed, so I’m sorry to sam’s for doing this but Maybe they’ll see this and realize what they’re pushing out the door.

Love this place! I used to go here many moons ago when I worked in Burlingame. I went back today and the sandwiches still are tasty. The bread is fresh. We were there early before the lunch crowd. The woman behind the counter(the owner) was super nice and made a special meat and cheese plate for my little one. Granted, it’s a hole in the wall but worth the effort to get sandwiches from a local Mom & Pop shop.

Awesome, awesome! What’s great about this place is that’s it’s your basic sandwich nothing fancy. However it tastes amazing once you get the sauces on it! This place hasn’t changed since I’ve been coming here for over 10 yrs! Although they lack 1 star for their customer service and sometimes the«incompetent«sandwich makers.

Finishing the Sam’s Special in one sitting is what I imagine it is like to be carrying a baby in my belly. A delicious baby. Mortadella, ham, chopped Ham, cheese, cooked salami & dry salami, oil & vinegar: $ 6.25, 2 meals. I spend all the waking hours after lunch 1 day-dreaming about the second half for lunch 2. The sleeping hours are filled with actual dreams where I see The mortadella talking to me from the end of a rainbow instead of a pot of gold* *I am the leprechaun in this vision.

Delicious! Sam’s is always my go to place when it comes to getting a great sandwich. Go to orders are either a June’s turkey or Sam’s Special! The staff is always pleasant when I am there. A Tip! Call ahead of time and order! Sam’s is a must stop before going to a Giants game. Looking forward to the June’s Turkey on Saturday!

Two things that make this place great. 1. Located in a an iconic Burlingame landmark. Yes, it might an old bus terminal but its still cool and the Greyhound Bus logo is like super cool. 2. Outside seating area where if you make a mess, none of the richy rich ladies from Hillsbourgh are around sneering and pointing as the tomatoes from my sandwich slip out of your sandwich. The Sam’s Special is the sandwich I love. I waffle between the Italian dressing and the garlic. They are both delectable. Sneak a half bottle of Duckhorn merlot and no one will even flinch.

Simple yet satisfying. I went here for a lunch to go and the place was full, so I was worried there would be a long wait. Nope! From the time I entered to the time I left, which included waiting in line, ordering sandwich, and sitting for the pick up, I wasn’t there more than 5 minutes. Awesome! Ordered Sam’s Special, with the garlic sauce. Bread would be better if it was specialized(perhaps Dutch crunch?), but the interior contents were delicious. Very friendly service, too. Great that it’s only one block from Caltrain!

I am newly employed in the Bgame area and this place is the perfect walking distance for my lunch break. There’s no arguing that the sandwiches here are good. I have had better, but I still would rank this place«up there». What really threw me off was the service. I was helped by a woman, who I am assuming is a co-owner, and I have to say she was VERY unpleasant. She was rude, short, and impatient with me as I was not a regular and therefore did not spit out my answer quickly. I was unfamiliar with the options of topping and sauces, though I’m not a moron so I was taking MAYBE an extra 10 seconds to decide on my order. It got to the point where I literally had to say to her, «I’ve never been here before so pardon me.» After that point she softened up a bit and cracked a smile, however, at this point I didn’t see it as genuine but rather a crappy attempt at being a little nicer. I decided to give it another shot, mainly b/c it’s so close and I was hungry. I can’t say my experience was much different. I wasn’t greeted when I came in even though i was the ONLY customer inside and she walked behind me and mumbled something about needing to get a key b/c the register was out of power. She verrrry slowly made her way to the sink to wash her hands and then hollered, «What are you ordering» or something along those lines. Again I felt rushed to make an order so I blurted out the simplest order I could think of, «uh…turkey with everything but tomato please.» She didn’t acknowledge me she just got to work on the sandwich. I realize this place is a little hole in the wall deli and 5 star service is not their forte, however, I do believe that all places of business should be at the very least, POLITE and maybe even a dash of friendliness. I am a very reasonable person with reasonable expectation for customer service but I will say that I will no longer go to Sam’s for sandwiches because of how rude and scary that lady was towards me twice in a row. I should also mention that on my first visit, the man behind me in line was clearly a well liked regular because when she was done ringing me up her whole face lit up when she saw him and she gave him a nice, «Hi Jim!»(or whatever his name was).
