When we arrived it was empty. We still gave it a shot. Service was great, cocktail was amazing, but the food sucked. You are better off going to Captain D’s.

«O Oysters,» said the Carpenter, «You’ve had a pleasant run! Shall we be trotting home again?‘ But answer came there none– And this was scarcely odd, because They’d eaten every one. –Lewis Carroll All kidding aside. Its fresh and the service was decent. Its a bit cramped and filled with too much bric-à-brac for me. Good food, style needs an up date.

Pretty good stuff, always a nice wait staff and very clean. The home converted to a restaurant gives it a good feel.

I took my grandparents here for my grandmas birthday because it’s their favorite place to eat for celebrations. The reason being, is because this place is expensive. Between the three of us, my bill was $ 87 dollars and thank God my grandpa insisted on getting the tip, other wise it would have been $ 100. The food was really good, but I don’t know about $ 87 good, maybe $ 60 or $ 65 good. We did get quite a bit, I had 2 margaritas, we had 2 appetizers, 1 dessert and 3 entrées. Everything was priced reasonable for what your getting at the portion. However, the prices on the entrées were a little on the high end. $ 18-$ 22 for fish, that I’m sure was frozen at one point. I pay about that in Washington for fish that was caught that day that wasn’t frozen. However, everything was really really good, I just would have paid about $ 20 less then what was paid.

Always spot on as far as the food. Of course, there is usually more than I can eat, but isn’t it nice to «pig out» occasionally. It’s not very busy at lunchtime, but I have never been in the evenings. I need to get away from my same olé when I go there. I just convinced myself to try something(s) new next time. LOL!

The best thing about the place was the Crawfish sausage which is a combo of pork sausage and crawfish. Tasted great and good texture. It also had a goodly amount of spice and flavor. My gf’s food was pretty so-so for fried clams. I didn’t try the stuffed crab but to be honest I’ve always thought stuffed crab was restaurant speak for over-priced breadcrumbs with some bits of crab in it. The prices were what really drove the rating down and how the hell is this a Cajun restaurant with no etouffe or jambalaya on the menu? Also the gumbo is hardly what you’d consider a traditional gumbo. It was good but tasted much more like a jambalaya stew. I went here based on a comment by another Unilocaler that mentioned that this place reminded him of east coast fried seafood joints… hardly, unless he’s talking about the touristy places.

Loved it! I got the fried clams and stuffed crab combo with fries and a salad, the boyfriend got the crawfish sausage po’boy. It was a bit on the pricey side for cajun, but it was worth it. Mine was great, the boyfriend’s was really great.

Great ambience! We had the BEST service, which I so, so appreciate(see my other reviews haha.) Dawn was funny and attentive without over-serving. Total charmer. Food was pretty good, we’re at the end of the crawfish season so they were on the smaller/tougher side but the seasoning was excellent and the homemade tarter sauce — 10⁄10. A bit* pricey, but overall a great dinner.

Best seafood in Burleson. Lots of options such as mahi mahi, shrimp, tilapia, etc. plus steamed veggies as a healthy side.

I enjoy this place. It may not be the flashiest, but this home turned restaurant has a lot to offer. The oysters are a bit small but still good. The sausage poboy is huge and delicious. Rather difficult to eat because of how big it is. The gumbo has great flavor, good amount of spice but needs a bit more seafood. Hush puppies are tasty too. Beer and full bar what more do you need?

Best oysters ever. My wife and I go here when we want oysters and cold beer. They do have a full menu but we have learned to eat light here. The waitstaff is very attentive and are genuinely nice people in our experience. The oysters are the best I’ve ever had, anywhere, and I have eaten them everywhere from Florida, Virginia Beach, Cape Cod, Jersey Shore, and we even lived down by Rockport/Fulton Beach, TX where they pull the oyster boats into the dock while you’re eating and these at J&J are THE B-E-S-T! BIG, Fresh, not briny. If you are looking for oysters anywhere near DFW you owe it to yourself to try J&J in Burleson.

My husband and I ate here last weekend and honestly, we weren’t impressed. The Good: Our server was very nice, prompt and did a great job. The fried pickles were delicious The clam chowder and gumbo were tasty The tartar sauce is good Otherwise, the rest of our food was really bland and most of it was fried to death. My husband ordered the combination plate with clam strips, stuffed crab and fried shrimp. Bagged salad and frozen veggies completed his meal. Nothing had any flavor. I ordered the fried catfish. My catfish was very dry, like it had been fried too long. The french fries looked burnt but were squishy. The coleslaw had no flavor even with a bunch of pepper added. I don’t know if we are food snobs or what, but I’m really surprised at all the positive reviews for this place. The food really wasn’t good. Our total bill was $ 55. For 1⁄3 of that we could have eaten at Whataburger and enjoyed our meal.

I’ve personally never been to JJ’s and after the experience my son just told me about I NEVER will. They apparently waited about 30 minutes for someone to even acknowledge that they were there. After an hour and a half they got up and left and he told me a few other tables left as well. My son said«this was some straight up Kitchen Nightmares shit». What amazes me is that a place can be this bad and not even know it. There’s a lot of competition out there for restaurants and I fail to see how this place has survived with such bad service.

Mr. B and I were in the mood for fresh oysters and fish and J&J Oyster Bar seemed to have all that we wanted. Our waitress kept the drinks pouring and Mr. B really liked his margaritas. He said it was very strong. It took a really long time for our food to come out because they had a big party on their beer garden so we got extra stuff with our meal. We started off with the raw oysters, they were a mixture of large and small sizes and were very fresh. My grilled tuna steak, delicious. I asked for it medium and it was cooked exactly how I liked. They have the best cole slaw! It is so flavorful with lots of onion(beware your kissy breath!) Mr. B had grilled flounder and he really liked it. I was told that they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Definitely a low key restaurant that has a country feel. So very cute! Definitely checking out the back patio next time.

This place is great. Mrs. B and I had a very nice dinner on the J&J patio on a cool night. The service was cheerful, the beer was cold and the soup was hot. In particular, Mrs. B had rich, buttery bisque, and I had a great bowl of gumbo. I’m excited to get down there for some live music, as their back porch area looks like a great place to unwind as well.
