This place reminded me of the Soup Natzi from Seinfeld. Don’t come in here expecting a friendly smile and a «hello, how are you?» just walk in, keep your head down, order at the counter and step aside! They have great sandwiches, and they know they have great sandwiches, so no need for all the fluff. Okay, jokes aside… After attempting to try them out time and time again and failing, because they close early, I was finally able to catch them for lunch. Since it was my first time here it was only appropriate I ordered the Tony’s Special. Assorted cold cuts, lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayonnaise wrapped in a fresh bun. They don’t seem to like it when you ask to modify their sandwiches, because I asked for no pickles and more than half my sandwich had pickles. I had taken my sandwich to-go and even though I had the option of going back, I was too intimidated to ask them to remake it, so I just ate it. Honestly, it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had and at Subway prices, you are really getting a fresh sandwich and they are extremely quick. Walking in, placing my order walking out took all of 2 minutes. I will be back again soon!!!

I’ve been coming here for 12 years. The food has been the same every time. Dressing can always depend on who’s making your sandwich but the flavors are always what you’d expect. 5 stars for consistency.

I really like this place. There is limited seating but the staff is very friendly and the food is top notch. I was actually craving it today but I forgot they close at 5PM. DARN!

Five stars all the way! Found this place by searching Google maps for a quick bite, so glad I chose this place! Got the Tonys Special, was ready and fresh within 5 or so minutes. So delicious and flavorful, I’m impressed! Will be back next time I am nearby for sure :)

I’ve heard about this place from a lot of people. The sandwich was ok. I wasn’t that impressed. Bread was sort of dry. It seems like a very popular place. Meat and cheese were good. Just wasn’t a fan of the bread. The guy working the counter was really nice. I’d eat here though over Subway!

Long time customer, first time review. Today was a great day at Tony’s. Don’t get this place confused with other Tony’s delis in the area. They all have different owners, recipes, etc. — but this one is the original. Ordered a large meatball sub and it was epic — good portion of homemade, fresh, well seasoned meatballs, doused liberally with a tasty marinara sauce and real provolone cheese(not the subway crap). I got it topped with diced tomatoes and onions. The roll can handle a good amount of sauce without it going soggy during your meal. Quality. The red skinned potato salad was equally excellent — texture was good and it had just the right amount of flavor while still being able to taste the potato. Peppers were even on point. The owner was here today — first time meeting him. Nice guy who genuinely cares about his patrons and establishment. For an excellent, no frills, family-operated Italian deli experience, it’s hard to top this place.

Probably one of the worst«sandwiches» I’ve ever had. I’m not sure why I even tried this place, but I won’t be coming back. I had found this place on Unilocal, and was in the area so I decided to give it a shot. I got something similar to a Mortadella Sandwich, and it was dry and tasted old. Who knows when it was actually cut, and every ingredient tasted stale. This place really needs to re-evaluate what it’s doing.

Great subs. Small location but big selection of great food. I tried their sandwich before and I loved it. I think they have great size/selection of subs for the money. I will definitely go back there and recommend you to do so too.

came here with my family just based off Unilocal reviews and was not disappointed! prices are great! i’ll start with what we ordered: my dad had hot pastrami sandwich my sister had a tony salad w/chicken my mum had cajun turkey sandwich i had the mix n’ match minestrone soup and salad there are no complaints about any of these dishes! they were all delicious. I would recommend all of these items if you’re looking for something quick, easy, affordable, and tasty just being picky… i took off 1 star per my pop because the inside décor was small + old skool. I didn’t really mind it since that’s something to expect from an italian deli but i gotta respect my pop’s opinion:)

I am deeply saddened today for Tony has new staff and my sandwich did not look like it normally does with lots of that delicious deli meat! I ordered a pastrami and pseudo sandwich and got what looked like a veggi sandwich! We need the original Tony’s team back!

Another over rated Burbank establishment. They just switched to new rolls instead of raising the prices and keeping the same quality and taste they had for years. Now the sandwiches Are dry & hard like a rock. Hardly any mustard & mayo(drier then Santoros) if u can believe that. And they have no understanding of the word extra. That puts them on the over rated list joining Santoros, Corner Cottage, Chili Johns(a real clip joint) was good when the Sisters ran it. Giamellis on magnolia at least nos the meaning of extra & has better stuff Then the above. Only good places in Burbank for years where restaurants(Verns, the Burbank Deli, Victors Deli And the Dip for pastrami and beef sandwiches. Stay away From pesos bills also, an expensive bland tasting form of barbecue sandwiches.

Traditional style deli. They have spaghetti and macaroni along with their tasty sandwiches. I went with the meatball sub, you can get it small or large, large is a $ 1 more, but the small was filling enough. The sub was $ 6.99 before tax. Order came out fast, good amount of meatball and sauce ratio with the bread. Service is great and helpful.

Their subs are good . Sometimes not the freshest I must say . I always ask for very little mayo since their normal sandwich has way too much of it . Tonys special is worth trying as well as the pastrami . Defiantly order ahead of time specially during lunch hour.

Pretty good subs. I wanted to try the highly recommended meatball or pastrami but it was so hot out today, that I opted for the peppered turkey sub. I appreciated that the tomatoes, pickles, and onion were diced instead of sliced. That made the sub easier to eat. These subs are big enough to share. The customer service was good and they had a great chip and side salad selection.

Small sandwich place in Burbank that feels like home food. The place has been around for a long time and what I love most about it is the old fashion style and of course amazing sandwiches! Highly recommended

I ordered the Tony special — as other’s said, the extra third piece of bread is too much. In addition, the bread is dry and nothing to be lusting after. I got the combo, and the macaroni salad was too watery with mayo. The size of the sandwich is big, but I’m looking for more quality than quantity. Will come back to try the pastrami or meatball.

This place is pretty good! Was in the area waiting for boyfriend to get done at a near by barber shop and we hadn’t ate breakfast. BF was getting Hangery, so I looked up a place to have lunch at and found Tony’s. I saw it had great reviews and was only 4 blocks away from the barber shop. Based on the reviews and the two super nice staff members description of the sandwich, I got the Tony’s Spacial(small) and a(small) Meatball for Mr. Hangery pants. These sandwiches did not disappoint… and they are not small at all. The Tony Sandwich is SUPER pack with meat and fresh veggies…(I got mine without onions), has good quality mozzarella and finished off with oils… I only ate half of mine, cause it’s pretty big. I will be coming back to get this sandwich. My BF liked the meatball sub I got him.

It’s my second time at Tony’s first time I had Tony’s combo which was awesome. My second visit was even better I had the Pastrami sandwich with everything in it, toasted bread, it was melt in your mouth awesome. :)

Sandwiches are so delicious here. Very fresh. However, I saw one of the ladies put her hands on tomatoes without washing her hands, right after she touched my card. Ordered a turkey sandwich(comes with onions, pickles, tomatoes, cheese) and another with turkey & salami. Bread tastes very good here. I really Like this place but grossed out a little about that incident.

Their Tony’s Special was subpar. Stale bread, terrible deli meat, too much mayo/mustard and their potato salad tasted like it came out of a box. One star for the functioning soda dispenser. Enter at your own risk.

It’s your typical sub-shop so don’t go expecting the friggen’ Cheesecake Factory and then come back on Unilocal and cry like a little girl because it has the look and feel of a traditional Italian shop. This is a place where people go to eat good sandwiches and if you complain, I think you’ll get a much deserved slapping. They have the banner spanned across the deli section to boast that they are the one and only Tony’s Italian Deli even though you might see other spots in the area by the same name but they’re not, so keep driving and don’t listen to your whiny girlfriend say something stupid like«Oh, what’s the difference?» There is a difference so don’t complain, or you’ll get a slapping. If you’re a man, you’ll order the Big Tony, like I did. It’s their signature Italian cold cut sandwich. It was great. I do like a good sub every now and then. It was tasty and filling and contained good quality products. My only gripe is that the bread was a bit tough. My ultimate sandwich would be a Big Tony with steamed bread to make it a bit more submissive to my lunch-bindge needs. I’m no shark but I still put that damn sandwich away like I was 1975 Jaws(not the cheap sissy sharks made for the low budget sequels, but the hardcore 1975 Jaws). So go in there and order your masterpiece, you’ll love it, or you’ll get a slapping.

Not a fan, can you tell by my 2 star review? I gave in to BF’s request for a sandwich when lunch time rolled around. My inner craving was calling out for Thai food but I wanted to be super nice GF and agreed to forgo rice noodles and fried rice. Anyway, we arrived at Tony’s and I walked in with a positive attitude: clean venue, neatly organized section of refrigerated drinks(water, sodas, juices) as well as a good variety of chips. They also have a good selection of pastas, cold cuts, olives that are encased in a glass case, which you can sample and order by size: S, M, L. We went along with the majority and ordered a Tony’s special, large, that we shared and a small order of the spiral pasta salad. Total was around $ 12 — and that included a bottle of Sprite. We paid at the register and the lady who helped us was friendly, but as soon as we were done paying, I looked out the window and turned back to watch the happenings behind the counter and saw the lady who helped us picking up sandwiches with her bare hands. I honestly don’t think she washed her hands in the few seconds from the money exchange and I whispered to my BF what I think was going on. That was a huge disappointment, HUGE. Maybe she’s a trained ninja or pulled some kind of matrix-shit to wash her hands in the 15 second time lapse, but I seriously doubt it. Anyway, we did the big unveiling at home and saw a slice of bread sandwiched in the middle of the sandwich. Being the«semi-health(not really but we try) conscious», we removed it and bit into each our halves… Our take: BF said it was a pretty good sandwich but to my dismay I didn’t like it. There wasn’t any hint of vinegarette taste to it and honestly it was overloaded with mayo, that buttery-tasting mayo which I’m not a fan of to begin with so it was destined to be a failure. The bread wasn’t anything amazing, no chewiness/fresh factor to and no hint of mustard either. I attempted to eat my half but gave up 2⁄3 of the way in before calling it quits. So, taste coupled with what I’m pretty sure I witnessed to be a sanitary no-no ensures that I won’t be back ever. Tony’s, crossed off my list indefinitely.
