I have purchased 2 items here, about to go get my 3rd. Who cares if grumpy old men run the store? They have the good stuff, at reasonable prices. I don’t need to be flattered or petted when I buy a nightstand. The reviewers here who felt insulted should go to therapy instead of furniture shopping.

I felt like I had walked back into my grandparents home, so many memorable pieces of furniture all in fairly good condition. Danish armoires, desks, dressers galore and at very reasonable prices, I can honestly say If I went into a antique store in Ventura, Ca these pieces would be triple the price and not in as good of condition. They have a wide array of China and pottery, such as Roseville. McCoy, Fiesta and more, Also they carry jewelry, vases, and so much more I can’t even list. I see from prior reviewers that they did not care for the service they received, the gentleman that helped us was a bit gruff but the minute I asked how he was doing today he seemed to open up… Sometimes it just takes a little sugar to sweeten someone’s day. ;)

My wife visited this place today, looking for a cameo necklace. They are kept in a cabinet which needs to be unlocked by an employee. When she remarked that they were more expensive than she expected(starting at $ 75), the man working there(the owner?) said that«If she couldn’t afford $ 75 then she needed to leave because he had a lot of paperwork to do.» Hours later, my wife returned home still emotional about how rude this man had been to her. Naturally, I was not happy to hear about this, so when I Googled the store to find a phone number, their Unilocal page was the first thing to pop up. It was no surprise to see that two other people had also had very unpleasant experiences there. I called, and the man who answered the phone was the same person she had dealt with before. He did not deny the incident, was unpleasant to me(surprise!), and told me that he didn’t care if I told others about the incident — that he had«plenty of other customers.» So here I am, cautioning all who care to read this that you should take your business elsewhere. Certainly, neither of us will ever step foot in there again. People with attitudes like his have no business dealing with the public. I’m pretty sure the man she(and I) dealt with is the owner. If he’s not, then the owner needs to be aware that this person is ruining their business. The story does have somewhat of a happy ending: my wife did find a necklace at Swag Antiques(4332 Tujunga Ave., Studio City 818−508−9400), finding the lady that helped her to be very pleasant and helpful. Yes, the necklace was more than $ 75, but being treated with courtesy and respect is priceless.

I love Madrid Antiques. The shop is full of great stuff with great prices. Unlike many antique stores this one is very clean and very well organized. Luis the owner of the shop is very knowledgeable and helpful to find what you want. My friend I go there at least once or twice a month and we always find a treasure to take home.

I was in the store today and saw a dresser with a mirror that looked like it was attached. After thinking more about it and deciding I wanted to purchase it, I called the store to ask a couple of questions. The guy who I spoke to could not have been less helpful. He claimed to not know which piece I was talking about(though it was the only one like it in the store). He then said I had to come back in but not now because he was closing(4:30 on a Saturday) and not tomorrow(because he was going to be closed — not every Sunday — just this Sunday). Then he says come back during the week 11 – 6. Don’t most people work during those hours? It’s been a long time since I’ve dealt with someone seemingly so uninterested in selling something. All I really wanted to know was if the goddamned mirror was attached. Done with this place before even starting.

I recently went in for the first time hoping to find a sideboard. My son and I were impressed by certain items that we spotted, we analyzed every detail of the merchandise and opened the drawers to see if there were any signs of distress. As I continued to look the owner in a very rude and condescending tone asked why I continued to examined the drawers and if I was hoping to find something there. I was taken aback by the rudeness and the lack of customer etiquette he demonstrated. He used profanity when I asked if he treated every customer that came with that rude and obscene mouth. Do Not bring your business to this place, instead go next door she was Extremely nice.
