Tops Friendly Markets

My standards are never high for a Tops to begin with, but today had an extremely negative experience here that will prevent me from ever returning. Came to simply return a DVD to the Red-​Box located right inside of the entrance. Parked for exactly 20 seconds off to the side of the store with my hazards on, while my boyfriend ran in to return the DVD, and in no less than 5 seconds, some aggressive woman employee came running up to the side of my car to tell me to move. I proceeded to move even further out of the way, waiting for my boyfriend to return in now less than 10 seconds, while she proceeded to run up to the side of my car and verbally assault and aggressively gesture at me until I had to pull out of the parking lot, turn around and pick up my boyfriend, who now at this point had been waiting outside for 30 seconds having already returned the DVD. Furthermore, it was Easter Sunday, and no one was at the store to begin with, so not sure why she was so wildly aggressive as to chase me down in the parking lot twice. Never going back here, definitely lost my business.

Most disgusting bathroom ever!!! It almost made me want to just leave the whole store. Such a filthy store. I should just stick with Trader Joes and Wegmans. What was I thinking?

Standard grocery store conveniently located by my apartment. Produce has increasingly become fresher, crisper, greener since I moved to Buffalo, I still prefer Wegmans when it comes to the organic/​natural foods section, meat and produce. Wegmans gives me the happies when I shop, Tops gives me the happies at the register.
Tops gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside when I go to check out and my Tops card drops my total by $ 10-​$ 20 — that feeling does NOT happen at Wegmans. There is also affordable gas tied into your bonus card as well, offering discounts when you regularly shop/​fill-​up at Tops.
This location is open 24/​7, offers hot meals (I have never tried), pizza (I have tried, I would not try unless you are extremely hungover and not opposed to some mediocre breakfast pizza), Red Box and all your standard grocery needs.
The beer/​hardciders, etc. are located at the end of the line of cash registers — this took me a while to find for some reason, so hopefully this tip makes your grocery store trip a little quicker.

Certainly not as good as Wegman’s, but it will do. I usually only go here if it is on my way to somewhere, and I do not have time to stop at Wegman’s or Dash’s. The food selection is similar, but they don’t have as much as the other two supermarkets, and some of the quality of product is less than the other two.
I do like when Tops has their Monopoly game, as that is a fun thing to do if I happen to stop in (although I have never won, of course). Another perk is that they have their bonus card, which allows money off of their gas if you earn enough points.
Finally, I do like the frosting on the cakes better here than at Wegman’s. I believe the frosting at Tops is made with shortening rather than butter (most people do not prefer this option, but I do. It just tastes better to me!), and Wegman’s frosting is made with butter.

Herein lies my problem with Tops, or perhaps it’s my problem all customer service in general across the board. If it’s the second, then to this Tops I say, to the victor go the spoils.
Three times today while I was in this store shopping, I asked for help locating a product and three times I was disappointed by the service I was given. The third time however, a Tops employee told me «I don’t know man — I don’t look at the products when I stock the shelves. I just put them where they go.»
Awesome. Translation — find it yourself.
This is why the average WNYer will go 5 miles out of their way to find a Wegmans.

Well, I usually go to the Elmwood location but have started liking this one more. I think it’s a bit smaller and totally set up weird (aka not what I’m use to). But whatever.
Carts are always available. Usually always clean when you enter. Very rarely ever see trash in the parking lot.
The bakery lady helped me find some stuff before and was kind. The one lady at the deli, not so much. Felt like I was inconveniencing her by asking her to cut me fresh meats that are not all ready pre cut. However the older guy with the accent is very nice and always zips the bags shut. :-)

I shop here because it’s more convenient than dealing with Wegmans on the weekend. I like the self checkout (when it works properly) and I haven’t had trouble with any of the employees or cashiers. What I do think is disgusting is that every single time I go in this store, I find something, somewhere that is expired. You really have to watch the dairy section the most, It is so annoying to push carton after carton of yogurt aside because it is way past the freshness date. Or bags of cheese… Or really any dairy-​related product. It’s gross.

Love this store for being conveniently located for any last minute trips to a USA grocer before crossing the border. Other than that, pretty standard. Extra star for having very conveniently located bathrooms that are clean and well-​lit and not shoved into the back hallway of the store behind a pallet of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Very convenient store. Not as big as some of their other stores. There are less options, but it is great to be able to go in and get what you need quickly. Full service Deli, butcher, bakery, pharmacy.

I come here off and on. as Wegman’s is my main grocery store. However for the most part it gets the job done. Convenience is key here as my bank is here and work is close by too. Majority of prices are too high to do a full shopping haul, so I like it for quick stops etc. Went to send money by Western Union on way to work yesterday. turns out girl made an error and I had to leave work and have it fixed immediately (she put in wrong State!) as someone was on the other end waiting for the $. They apologized a few times and fixed it. as well as gave me a $ 5 gift card for my ‘inconvenience’- Luckily they did something as it really was inconvenient to me and my friend waiting on the $. Majority of staff have been there for years… a few bad apples, but I suppose that is anywhere. I mainly use self checkout and I’m good with that!

Fresh produce. Clean and neat isles. I can get all my weekly staples here. Staff are helpful and friendly.
Love the location, perfect for all-​in-​one domestic chore stop. There are Bank of America, HSBC, AT&T store, AAA, UPS and FEDx near by.
