Do not go here. Waitress served the wrong order to my friend and told him she never makes mistakes and that he was wrong when he politely mentioned that it was not what he ordered. She seemed aggravated from the start. I had a Reuben sandwich which was mediocre at best and was charged $ 18 which came with just fries and a coffee. They also included a 15% tip added onto the bill which I did not appreciate considering the poor service they provided. Also took a few minutes to cash each of us out the person did not seem to know what they were doing. Very dissapointed!

Why I love The Towne… its a great place because of the diversity of the food and people. Took an elderly family member who loved it as they always have something on the menu she will enjoy and she is a picky eater. The diversity of the customers in age makes everyone feel like they belong. I don’t like being in a place where I am the youngest or oldest. Atmosphere, ambiance and service is as important to me as the actual food. On our last visit the Chicken lemon soup was very good as was the beef on weck.

Great Greek diner with reasonable prices. The chicken souvlaki is delicious and the spanakopita is like a big piece of lasagna!

This place has definitely gone downhill. The food quality isn’t what it used to be and most(not all) of the servers are non attentive and have bad attitudes. I used to go to The Towne all the time and it was wonderful. I live right around the corner but I’ll gladly make the trip up Elmwood to go to Acropolis or Pano’s now, instead. Boooo

Well I again after over a year, I tried this place again. The Town used to be THE place to go… what happened??? Well what happened is that it now basically sucks! I abhor that term but nothing else is as befitting as that. I ordered to be safe what I thought could not be horrible… The standard Texas Hots. Boy was I wrong! The hot dogs clearly barely touched the grill. They were raw looking and tasting, cold in the middle. The sauce if you can call it a sauce was thick, obviously just scooped out of the fridge and zapped very briefly. Not only was it barely warm, it was tasteless as well. The topper on this were the pickle spears served on the side. They looked as if someone had already gnawed upon them. I mentioned this to my server who asked the kitchen staff«what’s with these pickles?» As I was seated very near the grille area I could clearly hear the reply… no words… just laughing. By reading some of the other reviews, I am not alone in my utter disgust with The Towne. They now finally have a lot of competition… I sincerely hope they go out of favor entirely and go out of business thus allowing some young restauranteur with ambition, talent and a desire to actually please their patrons take over the space. Do yourself a BIG favor and STAY out of The Towne!!!

I’ve come to this resturant a handful of times. It offers a sit in dining experience with choices like pasta and Greek food. I thought the food was just okay. The atmosphere was nice though. It’s located on Allen St and has off-street parking available.

Went to The Town restaurant after a night out with some friends . I seriously don’t understand why I go back to this place . I haven’t been back in years because the food is always awful . I ordered the Gyro breakfast and it was completely disgusting . The gyro meat looked and tasted like dog food . Dry. No flavour. And looked like it was sitting around under a heat light for 10 hours . The home fries were rock hard and cold . Not only is the food horrible here, but the service and ambiance is just as bad . I very seldom write a poor review of a restaurant. I simply don’t patronize a place when the food is bad . But the food was so horrible I felt compelled to write a review . I can’t believe they had the nerve to serve up the garbage they put on my plate . Stay away from this place. Don’t waste your money !!!

Unilocal considers 3-stars to be A-OK. In this case, I consider it to be more of a, «Eh this will do». I used to come here more frequently when they were open 24⁄7. This was a pretty solid destination for grub after the pub. But nowadays my visits are less frequent and typically for some sort of casual meeting. This is what brought me here last night. I ordered the Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo. I must say, I was pretty impressed. The chicken was well grilled but still moist and the Alfredo had a hearty, but not overwhelming amount of garlic. The meal was very good. I will also occasionally come here by myself for breakfast. I believe it was a special, but several months ago, I ordered the stuffed french toast. It too was impressive, both in size and taste. So here’s the thing: the quality of food can be hit or miss here. I’ve had some great experiences as mentioned above, but I’ve had mediocre to poor experiences as well. Generally speaking, the service is almost always lacking. It is rather uncommon to get refills on drinks without asking and it is common to have to track someone down if you need something. Often times, the wait for an order is well beyond reasonable. I suspect that they tend to operate understaffed. I’ve been coming here for years, just not with highest expectations — so it is pretty easy to exceed them, as was done last night.

I used to live a block away from the Towne, my college put a ton of us up at the Holiday Inn and a few times a week we would head over for fried chicken and mashed potatoes because there was no way to get a home cooked, hot meal otherwise. Some of my favorite memories are at the Towne, most of which I can’t remember because it was also great for late night drunk Patty melts. Unfortunately, the quality has been steadily declining over the years. Every now and then I guess I have a bout of amnesia and forget everything terrible about this place. The food is just kind of eh, everything has the taste of miscellaneous grill flavor and there isn’t much flavor to be had. Went this morning and waited almost 50 minutes for our food before giving up and leaving, that’s just crazy.

$ 33 down the drain. Really wish I read the Unilocal reviews before choosing to get take out from here, completely sober. Called at 10 pm to place a take out order and was told this was not allowed and that I had to come into the restaurant to do this. What? I wasn’t by the restaurant, I was still at work, wanting to be able to swing by, after a long night on my feet, get my food and go home, eat and get some sleep. The last thing I wanted to do was come in here and wait. Strike one. Parked in the lot, came inside and was so confused why the kitchen line was directly in front of the front door! Waiters were picking up their food for their tables as people were walking in the restaurant, nonsensical setup. The area I entered to place my to go order had a few tables and had a very cold vibe as opposed to the regular dining room. It was literally cold too, being right by the front door, every time it swung open, I got an unwanted breeze. First things first, they need new menus, they are old, sticky and dirty. I ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner and was given a choice of potato, home fries, French fries, wild rice or Greek potatoes oh but wait they were out of Greek potatoes so I went with wild rice and asked for a side of tzatziki sauce. I also ordered the Pastichio dinner which came with a choice of potato and salad choice. I went with the chef salad NOT the Greek salad. Thought I made that clear, I said it twice. Bill came to $ 31 and I was thinking, dang this better be good. I sat and waited a HALFHOUR for the food. Do not do not do not make people come in and place a take out order if they are going to have to wait that long. It’s unacceptable and in my eyes, horrible service. The LAST thing I wanted to do after a long night of work was have to wait at a dirty sticky table to pick up my food. I would have much rather waited at my work, or home. Take out orders, it’s not a new concept, you call, you order, you drive, you pick up, you smile, you pay, you leave, you eat. This was all wrong. Get home, first thing I see is the Greek salad when I asked for the chef, great. Strike two. The pita was in baggies and the baggies were completely dis colored from the copious amounts of grease coming through. The pita was rock hard, I am not exaggerating. Rock hard, tasted like cardboard and after two bites were immediately thrown in the garbage. Strike three. It only gets worse from here. My chicken was drenched in grease. Drenched. It had absolutely zero flavor, it tasted like nothing but grease. There was hardly any lettuce with the dinner. The yogurt sauce was awful. Inedible actually, tasted like a container of sour cream. The Greek dressing was actually pretty good but unfortunately little to no lettuce to put it on. Now the«wild rice.» I love wild rice, make it all the time at home. This was NOT wild rice. It was rice a roni with hints of wild rice. The only thing wild about it was the insane amount of salt they added. Horrible. So much of it, that ended up in my garbage soon after trying. I was so incredibly disappointed. Will not be trying the Towne again.

Best Greek food in this entire dismal region. Moussaka and greek potatoes are my favorites. The gyros are tasty and the dolmas are better than anyplace else I’ve tried. They also seem to mix their greek dressing better than most places. A popular stop for 3am bar patrons looking for a meal before they pass out.

My fiancé wanted some souvlaki for lunch and suggested Towne since he’d never been. Against my better judgement, I went along with it. I’m sticking with 2 stars because 1-I like how they have a parking lot so I didn’t have to stress about finding street parking, and 2-my fiancé liked his beef souvlaki and my burger wasn’t too bad. Out of all the waitresses, we got the 80 year old lady who had the personality of a doorknob. I mean, kudos to her for still working away at her age, but she did not crack a smile or say any pleasantries. She even served us the bill before we were done eating. We were there for lunch on a Monday afternoon, so it’s not like it was busy in there, not that being busy is an excuse for poor service but at least it’s something. My burger was ok. Nothing spectacular but it wasn’t bad either. It was overly greasy though. Also, I haven’t been there in so long that I had forgotten we had to bring the bill up front to pay it — would have been nice for the old lady to remind us of that. But I guess that’s to be expected if she didn’t even take the time to say«hi how are you guys doing?» when we first arrived. I also just read my original review and realized that justin bieber came here when he strolled through buffalo, reason enough to stay away!

This place was very interesting. As this is my first time being in Buffalo NY, I had a taste for some Greek cuisine. This place does plenty of business and I had went at lunch time. The only downfall I had with this establishment was the fact that it took us 25 mins to get our food. If I’m not mistaken, there’s only 3 cooks cooking at once and this isn’t really a small place. I’ll compare it to a Red Lobster but a little smaller. So I wanted a Gyro. The closest thing I could get to a Gyro was an open Gyro which consisted of the regular lamb and beef, the salad, red onions, tomatoes, feta cheese, pita bread and tzatziki sauce. I must admit it was damn good! If it wasn’t for my long wait time, I would have possibly given them a 5. So I will most definitely be back. It was really worth the wait.

Not really impressed with this place, but Betty’s was way too overcrowded for as quickly as we needed to be in and out. We waited to be seated(it’s Sunday, to be expected), and the hostess took our drink order. We never got the drinks, and our server retook the drink order when she finally got around to us several minutes later. We placed our order and waited 30 minutes for our food, in which time our server never topped off my husband’s coffee. A different server brought the food and brought my husband the wrong toast. I mean, she brought wheat and he ordered an english muffin, it was very incorrect. Even though she wasn’t our server, she didn’t even ask if everything looked alright, she just walked off. Our own sever didn’t even come by our table at any time to see how our food was. At this point I was about a fourth of the way through my spinach and cheese omelette, and yellow liquid was oozing out. I understand it’s cheese and spinach, both which can be greasy and hold water, so I proceeded with caution. Another bite in and the runny egg whites where very, very obvious, being a gelatinous, slimy mixture of partially cooked whites, yolks, and clear uncooked goo that was oozing out. So that was the end of the omelette. I will say the taters were crisped perfectly. They were seasoned well and the onions were super-grilled, and topped with a bit of ketchup, they were definitely the best home fries I’ve had in a long time. The sourdough was golden and buttered; absolutely perfect toast. Overall, I’m glad I went for the absolute cheapest omelette, because basically it turned into the most expensive homes fries and toast I’ve had at a restaurant. Even leaving a majority of the omelette, I still had plenty to eat. My husband ordered a side of mayo to go with his homefries which never got brought, so halfway through our meal I flagged down our server as she passed our table to get it. She grabbed it immediately and delivered it without a word. A few minutes later, she wordlessly topped off my husbands empty coffee mug. When we were finished with our meals, she gathered up the plates, not inquiring about the half untouched, leaking omelette, and asked if we were ready for the bill. In fact, we most certainly were! My husband’s over medium eggs were cooked perfectly, his wrong toast was fine, but he didn’t care for the homefries. Can’t please them all. All in all, we’ve had much better experiences at other places, including Denny’s and IHOP. We won’t be back to Towne.

The Towne represents everything that is and was wrong with old school Buffalo restaurants. Overall the place feels like an old, rundown tourist resort and the staff have the kind of lazy sense of entitlement that develops in businesses that get traffic because of their location but put in no effort. As everyone knows Buffalo has a plethora of diners that serve cheap but crappy breakfast food and inauthentic Greek meals — and surprisingly, some, unlike The Towne, are pretty good. I walked in on a snowy afternoon hell bent on eating breakfast for late lunch. I don’t do that enough and was really looking forward to it. I was barely greeted at the door even though there were two staff and after a few seconds I noticed the«seat yourself» sign. My waitress came over right away and set down a lunch /dinner menu. I asked if they had a breakfast menu and she VERYRUDELY said yes and asked her colleague to brink it over. She warmed up over time but who the hell wants to be waited on by a prickly server? I imagine it’s the case that they are trying to push lunch /dinner but if that is the case they should just stop serving breakfast after a certain time. I ordered a pretty standard breakfast but the toast was over-buttered, the home fries stone cold and undercooked and the bacon razor thin — and I mean so thin that three of their slices wouldn’t equal a regular slice of bacon. To add insult to injury, the crappy tea I ordered was $ 3 extra while nothing more than a tea bag and a steel container of water and the soda was also three bucks! Paying required standing at the front counter and waiting while the lady who didn’t greet me when I walked in fiddled with something for a few minutes before acknowledging me. I’ve added The Towne to my list of restaurants that are wasting the space of good locations.

It should really be called«Downe» because that is where a lot of people go when they go to the bathroom. It’s that kind of place. What to order: Chicken Souvlaki Dinner and a Chocolate Shake. (Ask for the Greek Salad to come out first, separate) What else is good: Greek Salad(comes w/Greek dinners), Gyro & Feta Omelette, Greek Combo Plate, Moussaka. Everyone knows that adding an «e» to the end of a restaurant name takes it from mediocre to magnificent. But something tells me even if this place was named«Town» it would still be stellar. Edit: Since my review, I’ve had some overcharging issues. Watch what you’re charged, especially if you ask for extras or to change something. If I wasn’t so in love with the food, I’d give them less stars. Also, I’ve noticed the Souvlaki is twice as juicy, tender and delicious during the day! Danielle said that the night-food is lower quality, she may be on to something! One time I ordered it at night, and it wasn’t sauteed or juicy enough either, but the portion was still utterly enormous so that’s good. And the prices keep going up and up and up, which gets old after awhile. Way overpriced. This restaurant should really be called«Clowne» because of all the funny drunks that frequent it. Towne rocks. It’s open 24 hrs some nights, they have good breakfast, the Greek food is delicious. Sometimes unpredictable(dry Souvlaki or Gyro, perhaps) but on the whole amazing. They have some of the best, freshest salads around, one of the best milkshakes I ever tasted, a truly delicious Moussaka, and utterly amazing Souvlaki. I always order the same things, either Souvlaki, or if I’m sharing, the Towne Combo Platter. It’s Greek heaven! The Chicken Souvlaki Dinner is my personal fave because you get a *ton* of delicious hot juicy sauteed chicken, some really good Greek Potatoes, and the best, freshest, biggest Greek Salad in town(ask for it on a separate plate and to come out ahead of time). And their Milkshake might be the best in town, literally. This place should be called«Drowne» because you just want to bathe in, and drown in, their Greek dressing, and their Chocolate Shakes. So more on the Combo Platter. You get some of the best Souvlaki you’ll ever eat, ask for Chicken not Beef/Lamb… you get Gyro meat, but Buffalo style(spiced meat patties, very different from the shaved Gyros but very very good), you get a portion of Pastichio(yumm), and a portion of Moussaka(yum, nice and greasy and eggplanty and wet). You get an absolutely phenomenal fresh cold wet salad covered in Feta with delicious Greek dressing. You get orgasmic Greek potatoes and rice as well! And if all that’s not enough for you, you get a bloody lovely couple of Dolmades(grape leaves stuffed with rice) just for good measure! Oh, and a pita bread. And then you get hit on by drunk people. YAYYYYY. Hic. This place should be called«Mounde» because… er… well they always give you a mound of food??? Some of the servers are lovely, especially the guy who has been here for years. He is an absolute doll. Funny, witty, and always takes care of you. The chefs here are mostly Latino and they know their stuff, my god. Oh and their chocolate milkshake is absolutely divine. Out of this world, you must try it. A lot of places don’t make them right. A lot of cities, in fact, don’t make them right. Fast food outlets in particular tend to make horrendous milkshakes. A lot of people use obvious chemical flavourings to achieve the shake. Buffalo does milkshakes right. This place exemplifies that. They get a large metal tin(huge in fact), and fill it with delicious ice cream and milk. Then they blend it using a real milkshake making blender, and it takes quite awhile. You can always tell if you are going to get a real milkshake when you order it, because the waitress will often look exasperated, because it’s a lot of extra work for her. If you’re lucky(or, if you ask for it), they might even give you the whole metal tin, with the leftover milkshake inside it… which is basically giving you another half milkshake. This place should be called«Passed Arounde» because a lot of the drunk boyfriends and wasted girlfriends that are loudly dining here have been… So make sure you get to Towne. There’s something about Buffalo Diners that is different to diners everywhere else in the world. I’m not sure what it is. I think Buffalo diners are top of the diner tree, because they usually seem to offer the same delicious staples, with Chicken Souvlaki being top of that list. For some reason, diners in Buffalo know how to make Chicken Souvlaki. Hell yes. Towne might be my fave late night spot to sit and eat in Buffalo, and is some of the best Souvlaki and Greek food in town! Enjoy! By the way, I met Carl Paladino in here. Ask me how that went. Really. Ask me. You want to know. And it should be called«Frowne», because they seem to frown upon any patrons that are not drunk and loud.

Decent food will never make up for the horrible customer service that happened today. Brad and I woke up super early today for some odd reason. We decided to grab breakfast and Brad suggested The Towne. I was glad about the large parking lot, seeing as I hate street parking. Walking in, it was empty. We were the only people there and sat down near the kitchen. After about 5 minutes, our waitress came to us, dropped off the menus and said«do you know what you want?» No, it was our first time there. She walked away. While we were waiting to order, I heard the waitress talking to another employee and dropped a ton of F bombs. Direct quote«he was talking on his f***ing cell phone, that’s f***ing classy.» That should not be overheard! We also noticed every time the phone rang, she would complain about the customers once she got off the phone. If I was the manager, I would be seeing red if I knew my employees talked like this near customers. Don’t bash the customers! When she dropped off our food, she never came back, only to drop off our check, 15 minutes after we had finished our plates. It was more expensive than I thought. I got 2 eggs and Brad got 2 eggs with sausage. It came out to over $ 15! That was crazy! I won’t come back. This place could have the best food, but nothing will make up for the horrible customer service. They should be embarrassed.

I have eaten at Towne during just about every possible time of day — from early morning breakfast, to mid-afternoon lunch with co-workers, to 4am munchies before heading home from the bars. The hours are fantastic, the food is pretty good. I am never blown away by presentation, innovation, or authenticity when I dine here, but I am always satisfied with the portions and comforting flavor profiles. The restaurant is well laid out, facilitating large groups and many smaller ones easily. There’s never a wait for seating, but that’s a compliment to the restaurant’s design, and not a hint at unpopularity. Service is friendly and FAST. I don’t think I’ve ever waited longer than 10 minutes for my food. I would automatically assume that this is because the food is not made to order, but the quality and freshness of the ingredients proves otherwise. If you’re visiting Buffalo or just passing through, I would recommend one of our other restaurants that offer regional favorites. Locals, though, could do a lot worse than spending some time(at whatever time of day that might be) at Towne.

Reliable. I wouldn’t come here for dinner but I don’t mind lunch or late night. The Towne has been a late night spot for decades. They have a smaller late night menu now but you can still get many breakfast options as well as sandwiches and some greek specialties. The food is pretty consistently decent.

A drunken night in Allentown is never complete without a visit to Towne restaurant. Many people can vouch for that! I can only comment on this place when we go there after 3AM. The place is pretty busy when we go there around that time. It’s about that time when people want to sober up and drive home. The service when I go there late is pretty good. My diet coke has been refilled fairly quickly. What i get off the menu is the breakfast items. Me and my partner gets the french toast with Bacon and I like my bacon extra Crispy. The french toast is doused in eggs battery and fried on their fryer. You get about 6 regular slices and about 6 slices of bacon. The bread slices are your normal bread slices, maybe a tad bit thicker, but not crazy thick on how sometimes I seen french toast comes in. The food honestly is nothing to write home about, you can prepare something like this at home but at 3AM in the morning after a night out with friends, nothing taste better than this. The thing I don’t like is the kitchen is on the outside and your clothes end up smelling like deep fry /kitchen when you leave. To me thats a big no no, when eating out. My biggest pet peeve when eating out at any restaurant and paying for food. Over all, when your hungry in Allentown and its late, the only places to go is Jim’s steak out or this place. Whatever your craving, you will be satisfied esp after a few drinks in you, honestly, it doesn’t matter what you eat, anything will taste good at that time.
