The best souvlakis around. Huge portion sizes at a fair price. I also like the specials they put out. Things that you wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere or if you did, they’d be $ 25 dollar plates. And turkey day! Hot turkey sandwiches or a club that’s the size of my head. I’ve never spent more than $ 15 here and I’ve never once left feeling anything but stuffed. The only con is the place could use a serious face lift but i’m there to eat not play décor analyst. This place is a classic anti-chain, mom & pop, local establishment that will make your $ go further than it would at a fast food place

If it were a a lingerie store, it’d be Seeknickers Towne. If it were a strip club, it’d be Seeknockers Towne. And if it were a graveyard full of voyeurs watching immoral horny people doing bad deeds with lifeless partners, it’d be Seenecrophelia Towne. Thankfully(or not?) it’s not. What to get: Chicken Souvlaki, Choc Shake. What else: anything. Buffalo is spoiled by Greek-American(G-A) diners. Over 50 of them. Half are good, a quarter are very good, and 6(ish) of them are spectacular(Nick’s, Taki’s, Towne, Family Tree, Wehrle, this one). If it were a purveyor of candy, it’d be Snickers Towne. A grossly underrated restaurant in a grossly underrated category. We casually give G-A Diners 1 – 4 stars without realizing how great & uniquely WNY they are, with high standards of deliciousness, portion size and(usually) pricing. If the chicken was actually bloodily sacrificed in front of the customers, it’d be Santeria Towne. Venture elsewhere and diners have lesser standards. G-A is not the norm, as in Buffalo. Where they exist, they’re different & inferior. Dry chicken. No oil. Pre-cooked Gyro. As for WNY Chocolate Shakes: huge sizes, creamy, luscious. Not so much in other regions. If it were a dead racing driver, it’d be Ayrton Senna Towne. Cherish them while you can. Many won’t last. Embassy & Sala are long gone, now Spilios too. One day it’ll all be tasteless bland corporate monstrosities like Olive Garden, Denny’s, or trendy overpriced overhyped flavourless Greek like Acropolis or Zoe(sorry). If it were a gas station, it’d be Sunoco Towne. Enough rambling. Come(that’s what she said) try Seneca Towne. Also try Nick’s on Amherst, Taki’s, Family Tree, Wehrle, Athens, Royal, Emily’s. Just because we have so many, doesn’t mean they’re worth less. They’re worth more, because we’re blessed with so many, thus they help define the region, they’re our culinary identity, what makes us special. It’ll take more effort, loyalty & custom to keep them all in business than one or two Burmese or Korean places, which are«en vogue», and don’t need as much effort(although the best ones — Lin & Seoul Garden — are quiet. Try those too!). If it were full of sarcastic people, it’d be Snideremark Towne. I got the Chicken Souvlaki Dinner: a mountain of delicious juicy chicken, Greek-sautéed for days, a bottle of oil in case you want more sautée, hot, wet Greek potatoes, & a lovely, enormous, feta-covered Greek salad. Fresh, wet, basic, hits the salad spot. Feta quality good. Pita bread too. If it were owned by a former Steeler(serving Roethlisbergers), it’d be Seneca Wallace Towne. My friend got a Gyro Omelet with Feta. It wasn’t as wet as we like it, but still good. Gyro meat: excellent. Buffalo-style Gyro(chopped spiced meat patties), juicy, full of flavour. Toast: very good. Buttery, fluffy, yum. Not the stellar homemade level of Nick’s but still excellent. If it were full of sexy tiny fake tanned girls from NY(not NJ, I know these things)(it sometimes is), it’d be Snooki Towne. I also got a chocolate shake. Excellent. One of the better shakes in town, I would say. Cloudy, thick, creamy and milky. It was enough for two. They brought the metal tin so I had extra shake when done with the cup full. So essentially, like many hard drugs have done, they gave me the shakes. If it were owned by Kermit, it’d be Sesame St Towne. It’s not as dirty as Nick’s, it’s not as clean as a bottle of Lysol. Does it have to be? Speaking of «Dirty Diners», it’s one of my favourite songs off Michael Jackson’s «Bad.» Actually, if it were on Sesame St, it’d be Snuffleupagus Towne. Which sounds like Snooki’llf*ckus, which would be(a) inappropriate for Sesame St, and(b) way better than anything ever on Sesame St. It’s out in West Seneca. Busy on the night I was there. Owners commented that it was usually dead. Open until 9pm each night, so it’s good for all three meals. Or four. Or seven & a half. Are we still talking about meals? If it were full of deep sea divers(no, not the kind from the Good Tymes South review), it’d be Snorkellers Towne. Service: excellent, prices: affordable. Some of the best G-A in town. It’s hard to penetrate(ahem) the top 10 G-A places in Buffalo, even harder(like me) to penetrate(cough cough) the top 5. But this place did it effortlessly. If you’re someone that routinely rates every G-A place in town 2 or 3, you may not like it despite its high standards. Perhaps you don’t appreciate how good we have it in WNY. Or maybe it’s not you, it’s me. I’m breaking up with you, Buffalo. It’s not you, it’s me. You’re warm and lovely for a few months and then you are turbulent and ice cold for the rest of the year. But like I said. Not you. Me. Go Bills. And if it were full of old people that can’t remember which government building they bombed in the 60s(as retribution for a local forest being felled), it’d be Senile-eco-terrorist Towne. But it’s not. Now, does anybody want to do Greek with me?

Great Chicken Souvlaki’s. I call ahead and pick up only. Inside needs to be redone– but still a staple in this town.

Although it’s been a couple of months since we’ve been there, I was disgusted by the sticky floors, dirty tables, dust on all the chachki’s and ripped banquets made the place look horrible. The food was. well it was edible but barely. We haven’t been back and won’t. If they want to generate more business they need to clean, paint, and fix things up because it looks old and outdated and scuzzy!

Been coming here for years — not for the décor, but for the best chicken souvlaki around. Big portions, very affordable. Old time family place that existed before the chains tool over. Not sparking clean, but serviceable. Food outweighs the atmosphere!

Took my grandmother for breakfast. As we walked in the door the first thing she said was«they don’t keep it very clean do they?». For a Sunday morning it was pretty dead, and now I know why. We never should have stayed. The table was sticky underneath. That’s build up, not just a poorly wiped table. The waitress was friendly, but spent most of her time sitting at another table visiting with other customers. I ordered a breakfast wrap, which was ok. Gram had pancakes, and hubby had ham and eggs. the ham was a couple slices of deli ham, not the ham steak he expected. All eating stopped when he found a hair in his food. The waitress apologized and comped part of his meal, but this place is just dirty. We will not be going back there again.

I don’t know what the rest of the food is like, but my mushroom omelet was terrible, and the potatoes were worse. The omelet was bland, overcooked, and it was just eggs folded over canned mushrooms. The potatoes were just as bland — just cooked potatoes sitting in oil with little to no seasoning. Sure, it’s cheap — and the staff is friendly. But I can not recommend this place to anyone as long as the food is this yuck.

Had take out today with my daughter. Ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner with Greek potatoes. Wow. For anyone who has read my other reviews you know that I am not a fan of animal protein, other than raw beef. Ordered the chicken because I presumed that some other family member would ingest it and I would be cool with the veggie part. I was, and started passing some chicken pieces to my faithful Sphynx cat and realised this chicken smelled really good. It also was moist, not in a greasy kind of way. I tried it and it was sensational. A whole chicken breast, marinated and grilled to perfection. No, I still will not willingly order chicken however this chicken dish was exceptional. The side for my souvlaki, the potatoes, far surpassed any other Greek potatoes I have ever had. Not pre-fab. Freshly peeled, waxy potatoes with a nice lemony roasting brine. Other herbs added and appreciated. I like this place and can say the only issue that I have with them is their hours. They were open 24⁄7 when I first moved here. Great for late night/early morning visits. Then the hours changed to 24⁄7 only on the weekends. Now it’s 7am to 8 or 9pm daily. I guess I will need to deal with this major transgression.

I read all the good reviews so I stopped after work today since I pass this place every day. I ordered a chicken souvlaki the sign outside reads«buffalo’s best» so, it must be true. right? No. After I ordered I sat down at the counter and waited. While I was waiting I started to look around and noticed how dirty this place was. There is a window around the grill area which you can hardly see through due to all the dried up grease and whatever else has dripped down the glass over the last 10 years. The floor could really use a good sweep, not only for the crumbs but the dead flies and such also. The cash register was right next to me which was coated with dust and filth on the side from years of dirty hands being on it. Wallpaper was hanging from the ceiling and cobwebs over the grill top. By now i am second guessing my decision to stop in but I already ordered so I wasn’t going to leave. The souvlaki was average at best, a lot of white, or as I call it, ass lettuce in the salad and one pepperoncini. The lettuce wasn’t really crispy and waaay too much feta. If it’s that bad on customer side, I don’t want to think what the back of the house looks like. Sorry but for me to even go near this place again, I would need to see a cleaning company spend some serious time in there.

Best greek food in wny! Rice pudding is great but the chicken soulvaki is amazing. Very reasonably priced, good for the whole family.
