I love Nick’s place. We have been coming here for years and the service is great. The staff is always so friendly and the burgers are delicious. I wish they didn’t close at 3pm because this is definitely a hot spot! Other wise, great spot for breakfast and lunch.

Excellent breakfast. Nicks Omelet with home fries and a side of homemade toast didn’t disappoint. Staff was very attentive as well.

Far and away the best greasy spoon Buffalo has to offer. The only thing I hate about this place is deciding what to get.

For your first time you may take a double take at the address as you pass by. The outside looks more like a restaurant long gone, but believe me when I say you can walk in confident that you will have a filling and delicious meal. It’s not uncommon to stand lined up inside waiting for a table. Some times a stool makes up for adding a 5th to a 4 top, but if you are like me you don’t mind because the food is worth it. Sophia’s Choice is a great option. Fresh tomatoes, spinach, eggs, onions and cheese… lots and lots of feta cheese. Their home fries are buttery and has a nice mix of soft and crunchy. Try the homemade bread.

I’ve been here a few times. I am pretty picky when it comes to breakfast. I don’t like fu-fu breakfast, but good cheesy, well cooked breakfast which I think is pretty hard to find. I got the Country breakfast — 2 pancakes, bacon, eggs, homemade toast, and potatoes for $ 8. Prices include tax too! Everything is always plentiful, I have yet to finish a meal, and full of flavor. It’s nothing fancy inside, but the staff are friendly and the food is awesome!

If you haven’t been here before, you are missing out on the best breakfast around. My friends picked the spot and I showed up. From the outside, and when you first walk in, you think that it is only a couple tables and some counter stools. But look further. There is a whole other room, filled with tables. I went on a Sunday in October. They are handicapped accessible. I had an omelet with spinach and bacon. Our server thought it was weird that I didn’t get cheese in my omelet, but I don’t really like cheese that much in an omelet. I liked the fact i could choose what I wanted in the omelet. The coffee is delicious, and the bread! It is homemade and it was so delicious and smelled incredible. Try this place. You will not regret it. And it is super reasonable.

Place honestly earns 0 stars and the health service department to shut them down! Bad service and ignorant waitresses, cooks don’t waste their hands and they TOUCHMONEY, can care less about fully cooking the food! Played was extremely DIRTY and so was the silverware and cups! Food was uncooked and tasted like dirt, pancakes tasted like dirt, sausages links wasn’t cooked on the inside, bread was pretty decent, and eggs was nasty! No real positive words to say about this place…

I had my 1st Nicks Place experience today and I was less than pleased. The dishes were dirty and the food came out bad. I had heard so many good things about this place prior to coming. I ordered chicken souvlaki, eggs over medium, and home fries. The only good thing about my dish was the chicken which was just okay. My home fries were tasteless, and the eggs were not cooked as ordered. The«homemade bread» was also very sad. I will not be going back.

One of the best breakfast spots in buffalo. It’s doesn’t look like much from the outside, let alone the interior, but this place makes some of the best breakfast food I have ever ate. Not to mention the prices are ridiculously cheap and the service is always great. Everybody should go here at least once.

Food quantity was huge. Quality was okay. Homemade bread was awesome. French toast was okay but not much taste. Overall it was an okay dive for breakfast and you get a lot for price.

I love a good dive diner but I also like to eat in a place that seems clean and Nick’s didn’t really give me that. There is a difference between old and dirty. A restaurant can be old and simple and as long as it is well maintained and cleaned, it will get 5 stars from me. Came in around noon on a Saturday and the place was steady but not packed. We approached the counter in front of the restaurant and having not been here before, asked about a table for two. We were told to pick a table of our choice. As we headed towards the dining area, we passed through a hallway with shelving containing their storage items. It was very messy and definitely wasn’t the proper location for storage. Food storage should be kept out of sight, not the first thing you look at when you walk to your table in a restaurant. The dining room was dirty, the carpet really needed to be vacuumed, food everywhere. The tables were sticky and while we were sitting down, wood paneling from one of the booths of the table in front of us fell off onto the floor with six or so nails sticking straight up. The place was falling apart. The meals were cheap and the portions huge. I heard they had great chicken souvlaki so I got the souvlaki breakfast which came with home fries, eggs my way, toast and chicken. I asked for a side of yogurt sauce too, which I thought it should have come with anyways. I chose rye toast and eggs over easy. My boyfriend got the corn beef hash breakfast. He loved his food. The corn beef hash was tasty and eggs cooked well. I loved my eggs and home fries but the chicken was completely inedible. I couldn’t bite into the chicken it was rubbery and fatty. I tried four different pieces hoping every bite I took would be better but it wasn’t and so I left with all of the chicken on my plate. Very disappointing. The yogurt sauce was just alright, little to no flavor. Our waitress was nice, but didn’t check on us to see how we were enjoying our food, instead, she came over when we were nearly finished and just dropped the check on the table without saying a word. Perhaps we wanted dessert or coffee? I just appreciate it when a server asks if there is anything else they can get us before assuming we are ready for the check. The bill came to $ 17 for two breakfast plates that left us feeling very full. I continue my search for the best souvlaki in Buffalo because this wasn’t it.

If not for Unilocal I would have never thought to stop here. From the outside it barely looks like a restaurant. That being said I’m glad I did. I had the gyro omelet with homefries. At 8 dollars and the portions given it was a great deal. It was delicious and I actually had to ask for a to go box because I couldn’t finish it and it was too good to waste(I’ve never needed a to go box for breakfast before).

Found Nick’s via Unilocal search while looking for a breakfast-brunch spot in Buffalo, NY on trip home from Niagara Falls. Not located in the best part of Buffalo, and didn’t even look like a restaurant from front of entrance. Quickly seated and waitress was friendly. The silverware and cups could have been cleaner, and the women’s bathroom reeked of urine. Coffee was decent. We got 2 orders of the country breakfast, one with French toast, one with pancakes. Those, and the home fries were delicious, long with their homemade bread. Eggs not the best. Very generous portions and good prices.

«Knickers Place» is the lingerie store next door. The best diner in town is next to a damn underwear shop. That’s why it’s filled with girls(and boys) wearing nothing but women’s intimate apparel. It used to be a nudist diner, but NYS law deemed that patrons must cover up. So Nick opened the lingerie shop, catering to models, strippers, and cross-dressers. I’m not really into the models or strippers(meh) but my goodness those cross-dressers have it goin’ on like the Backstreet Boys did on their first CD. Speaking of which. Nick Carter, from the BSB, owns this place. He’s let himself go a bit though. What to get: Open Chicken Souvlaki for $ 9, Homemade Toast. What else: everything is delicious. I hope they never change the name to «Nix Place». If they nixed Nick’s, I’d lose the tastiest and most filling Open Chicken Souvlaki ever. I’m so addicted that(and this is very unlike me) I’ve been coming here several times weekly for Souvlaki, and their incredible, delicious homemade toast. The food isn’t as good when«Nick’s Wasted» but luckily he usually isn’t. It’s a run down place in Black Rock on Amherst, and looks like it would be average. So why is it so busy? I’ll tell you why. It’s *amazing*. The $ 9 Open Souvlaki is not only delicious but enormous. Twice the size of any other portion in town. Three times the size of the Elmwood versions that cost over $ 10. Come. Try it. *The* best Souvlaki that I’ve ever tried(Buffalo makes N America’s best, I’ve yet to visit Greece). If Nick’s leg needed permanent support, this place would be «Nick’s Brace.» But his leg is okay, so «Nick’s Place» works fine. Two female servers are super cute and friendly. The main female server is not so friendly, so go in expecting this, and no matter what(she may yell at Nick, or at the girls, or at you, or snatch a menu off you, or anything), just take it with a pinch of salt, because it’s her personality and you’re about to get the best diner food in WNY. There’s no waffling(or waffles) or pretentiousness. It’s a very in-your-face-place. Maybe it should be called Nick’s In-Your-Face. If Nick said prayers before serving meals, this place would be «Nick’s Grace.» But he’s not, so «Nick’s Place» works fine. I can’t say enough about their Open Souvlaki. They gave me so much chicken with this dish, I could have started a farm. Plenty of pita too, Greek dressing, and a ton of salad. I could have started my own veggie garden. The salad is fresh and delicious, and my word, the chicken. Wow. Spectacular. Hot, juicy, tender, perfect, and most of all: marinaded to perfection. Very Greek, very lovely. It’s a ways ahead of the other great ones in town: Taki’s, Family Tree, Wehrle, Seneca Towne, Towne, Alton’s. So much chicken! Cheap, huge, and delicious. Just like this girl I know. Did I mention they give you a lot of chicken. If Nick was in the Buffalo News for scandal after scandal, this place would be «Nick’s Disgrace.» But he’s not scandalous at all, so «Nick’s Place» works fine. That brings me to the homemade toast. Sophia’s toast? All hype. Whereas Nick is the King of Toast. Order toast even if you don’t like toast, ask for homemade. *So good*. It’s better when it’s quiet, so it’s fresh and hot. But regardless, it’s the best toast I’ve ever had. If Nick was a male model known for his chiseled good looks, this place would be «Nick’s Face.» But he’s not particularly studly, so «Nick’s Place» works fine. The omelets are wet like they’re supposed to be. Skip the Gyro Omelet though. The Gyro meat is frozen strips, rather than homemade or Chicago style. But the omelets themselves are awesome, and the hash browns are spiced and flavourful. The best hash browns I’ve tasted. Not kidding. And of course *get the homemade toast* people. If Nick carried pepper spray to prevent molestations, this place would be «Nick’s Mase.» But he seems immune to such attacks, so «Nick’s Place» works fine. They close at 3pm, so if you want to get some top notch nosh, get there early. You won’t be having Nick for dinner unless you get to Nick early in the day and then take him around with you all day and then have him at night, if you know what I mean. If Nick was a flower seller, this place would be «Nick’s Vase.» But he serves food instead, so «Nick’s Place» works fine. Unless you’re put off by run-down diners, come here. Make no mistake, this is the best diner around, like that pub for convent sisters.(Bar Nun). If it were empty, it would be «Nick’s Empty Space.» But it’s not, so «Nick’s Place» works fine. I can’t believe I didn’t try this sooner. Thanks for all the locals who steered me to Nick’s… you were right! If Nick was oh never mind, enough of this crap, you must be bored to tears by now. Open Souvlaki. $ 9. Toast. $ 1. Best diner in Buffalo. Best Souvlaki and toast I’ve ever had. Top 5 restaurants in WNY. Thank me later. Peace out. This review is officially nixed.

I just love this place. It’s not fancy or even distinct in terms of the building or the menu. What they offer is solid food, made with care. The breakfast options are filling and not greasy. The Homemade toast would make Martha happy. The dining area is clean. The waitress is fast and remembers me, even though I’m not a regular. Above all, what really attracts me is the customers. It’s a diverse representation of Buffalo. From crossing guards to plumbers, families with lots of little kids, college students, groups of old guys talking politics, and once-a-month ladies from the ‘burbs; white, black, Latino — everybody eats here. If they served cappuccino(the icing on my breakfast-out cake), I’d give this place 5 stars. But then, it probably wouldn’t be the place I adore.

The menu isn’t very extensive but it would be hard to find something you don’t like. Everything is a good value for your money. It’s a little small, so don’t bring large groups. The food is fantastic all the time.

Doing a tour of the local diners I came to this place. Ordering breakfast at each, more or less the same order. I seated myself at one of the 8 or so booths. The place was pretty busy actually for a weekday, but it was around 11am or so, so some were there for late breakfast, others for early lunch. I felt like many people were regulars. They also have tables for those who prefer them. I’m sure the tables get pushed together for larger parties. Nicks is priced slightly higher than the Family Kitchen. But I think the food may be fresher. Some of the breads are homemade, although be sure to ask which as my waitress did not tell me about them without prompting. I liked my eggs and the bread was OK. I found the food to be good and I think pretty fresh, but I did not find this to be the cleanest place ever, or even sometimes. That’s why 3 stars and not 4. Street parking, pretty easy in the area.

Came for lunch so the 3 stars is based on that. I have a feeling breakfast would bump it up a star. I had a chicken soulvaki and hubby had a gyro. They were huge but not memorable for taste. I like that tax is included in the menu price. Prices are cheap. Run down diner… nothing special. I definitely want to return to give breakfast a try.
