I’m definitely coming back to this place. Best gyro sandwiches I’ve ever had. Reasonable prices, great service, out of this world food!!!

I went shopping at the Eastern Hills Mall a couple days a go. I decided to check the food court because I wanted to get something quick and easy. I was glad that Nanas was still there, maybe because the mall looked empty and not too many exciting stores left at this mall. The menu hasn’t really change since the last time I came here. I tried hummus wrap and beef souvlaki in the past which were amazing. However, I was in the mood for chicken souvlaki wrap; pita bread filled with marinated chicken with feta cheese, lettuce, onion, and olive oil. Oh wow, The chicken was so tasty and mixed well with feta cheese, everything was melt in my mouth. I think it was the best chicken souvlaki I’ve ever had in a long time. The price was very cheap! It was $ 6.08 included tax. Make sure you ask for Tzatziki sauce because the meal doesn’t come with it. The service was fast and the owner was nice. The price was budget friendly. So if you happen to be in the area or at the mall, come to Nanas. There’s an entrance right to the food court so you don’t have to shop at the mall. It’s definitely worth it.

Definitely go to Nana Mediterranean if you are in the Eastern Hills mall. This is home style Greek cooking at a good price. I had a felafel pita(definitely get hummus on it for an extra 75 cents) fat with felafel, fresh lettuce, tomato and some pickle slices. The felafel were beautifully cooked, and fragrant with a hint if spice. My mother got a gyro which she loves. They use the sweet vidalia onions on it and flat bread and meat were fresh and tasty. They cook to order, so nothing standing around under hot lights. The owner was a nice guy to chat to, and he even upsold me with the home made Greek rice pudding that the eponymous Nana made.

It was originally called«Nono’s» but then the owners realized naming it that was a Nono. Then it was called Nena’s, but somebody popped the 99 Red Balloons they had at the store and so they were forced to change their name. «Nahnahs» was next, but people stopped coming. I suggested eating here to friends and they were like… nah. So finally they asked the Grandmother of the family to name it… and the rest is history. Yes, I went inside a mall. Please don’t tell anyone, because I will lose whatever little credibility I still have. While it’s not on the same otherworldly level as the insanely delicious Pete’s Greek Isles, which used to be down the road on Transit and also inside the Boulevard Mall food court, and is now gone forever… it’s still really, really good. The best Souvlaki stuffed in a Pita in town is now at Pita Gourmet just down the road on Transit, but this one is well worth a try, and is absolutely delicious. Basically they give you a pita bread(don’t get the wrap), and they stuff it full of chicken, salad, dill, Greek Oil, and whatever else you want. Ask for the sauces because annoyingly, they may not put them in if you don’t ask. The combination of everything inside the pita is absolutely heavenly. It’s dripping and delightful, and you’ll love every bite. It’s one of the best foods you can eat, and pretty healthy too. Try ths one and try Pita Gourmet and see which one you like better. They’re cheap too, around $ 6.50 after tax. I can’t think of a much better thing to eat, in fact it’s making me starving just thinking about it. The employees here are fairly friendly, the service might not be the best ever but they do a good job and the chicken is moist and marinaded and yum. The Gyro is fake(like most Gyros in the region, and like my girlfriend) and should be skipped, but the Chicken Souvlaki sandwich is delicious… this area for some reason really knows how to make Souvlaki. Unfortunately Nana’s may not be here for much longer. This food court is dead most of the time. Almost nobody is in this mall and almost nobody is eating here. I don’t know how the food places are making enough money to survive and it makes me sad, because most of them are great little family businesses that make a real effort. The Boulevard Mall food court was destroyed, and this one might go the same way soon. A lot has changed since my previous review of this place, indeed, because in that review I advised indie places to be located in malls, and now Mall Food Courts are dying and being closed down and replaced with horrors such as «PF Changs» and«TGI» all over the country. Don’t get me started on Applebees. After you eat here, you’ll be proud of your purchase. You’ll be singing nana nana, nana nana, hey hey, good buy.

I am pleading temporary insanity for setting foot inside of a mall. However, my first trip to Eastern Hills Mall yielded a wonderful surprise in Nana’s. Nana is actually the mother of the cook and counterman, and she makes everything by hand herself. Try the combo platter which is stuffed grape leaves(4 large), falafel, lots of hummus, tabouli, tzatiki, & a half pita. You will not be disappointed. It’s even worth going to a mall to eat Nana’s food. Minus one star for the crappy flimsy utensils.

I am basing this 4 star on food court choices. No, I wouldn’t recommend coming here just to try their food — but I would recommend it if you happen to already be at the mall. I got the chicken and spinach wrap and it was better than I expected. It was chicken, spinach, feta, tomatoes, and greek dressing in a grilled wrapped pita. For a couple bucks more I made it a combo and got fries and a drink — all for $ 7.50. They seemed to have a lot of authentic items on the menu — grape leaves, soulvakis, tabouli, taziki, baklava, etc. I was impressed.
