You can say that The Flame Broiler came from a humble background. It’s a story about a man that worked hard to perfect his craft(the Magic Sauce), started a fast food concept, worked his way to the top and then expanded at an incredible rate to where it’s at now. The Flame Broiler, now, is one of the most well known and recognizable teriyaki rice bowl fast food restaurants in the Southern California region. The simple rice bowl concept gained popularity and trended among avid gym goers, fitness and health enthusiasts, and the blue and white collar class over the past five years. The Magic Sauce still trumps all other teriyaki sauces. The Flame Broiler was the first to add a simple, tasty and crunchy ingredient on top, the chopped green onions. That is why it’s hard to resist a bowl or plate during the lunch hour rush. It’s been a while since I last visited a Flame Broiler. You can say the teriyaki market is a bit competitive these days, with many other similar chains rising. Flame Broiler isn’t the best bang for your buck, but consider it the Mercedes Benz in the rice bowl field. Chicken The chicken is broiled(broiling is a huge advantage because most are grilled on flat tops only) perfectly. There’s a nice char and the repeated basting of the Magic Sauce makes the chicken chunk flavors pop. Pairs well with a bed of white or brown rice. Black Angus Beef It used to be beef that was similar to Korean marinated beef called bulgogi. Now it’s Angus Beef that are cut in strips. You can taste the quality of the Angus breed in these strips. The same repeated basting is applied with the beef. Magic Sauce The best teriyaki sauce I’ve tried and trust me, I love my sauces. To give you an idea how much I love sauces, I request every sauce at Chick Fil-A and McDonald’s. This well named Magic Sauce is a thick dark caramel color, sweet, savory and I wish I can take it home with me. Hot Sauce(Louisiana hot sauce) Another innovative idea that works with the bowls and plates. We are used to liberally applying David Tran’s Huy Fong Sriracha with our teriyaki, but you can’t ignore this sauce. It’s another form of the sauce of choice that’s popular in the south that’s eaten with fried chicken and other soul food. Hot Hot Sauce(green sauce) It’s interesting because when you first taste it, it doesn’t seem spicy at all and let that be a lesson. Anything beyond a moderate spice level, creeps up on your mouth like a thief in the night, but doesn’t leave and lingers until you can escape with a glass of milk or countless cups of water. Think of it as a thicker version of salsa verde. With Korean food pairing well with Mexican food, it’s a fusion sauce that’s spicier than the Louisiana hot sauce. Salad Switched from the traditional lettuce mix to finely chopped cabbage couple of years ago. I always substitute the fruit usually a half slice of orange and given on the plate) for more salad. The dressing(Asian sweet sesame) comes on the side in small containers with the option to request more. I have to say this one of my favorite locations. It’s a clean(even the restrooms), small, cozy restaurant that used to be a failing Quizno’s. As an added bonus, it’s in my hometown of Buena Park and right next to Knott’s Berry Farm. If you ever visit Knott’s, you should stop by. It’s about a quarter mile from the main entrance and the taste here is better than anything you can get at Knott’s, except to give where credit is due, Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner. I recall my past review of another Flame Broiler location a year and a half ago, and I’ll reiterate it again, to have the«King» in a name, you have to back it up big time, and I have to say that this King has earned his crown. #RiceBowlKing #LebronJames #StriveforGreatness

I literally walked in and immediately walked out. I’ve never walked into such a filthy restaurant before. The floors were immensely disgusting and black, not exaggerating. With no other people sitting inside, they could have taken that time to clean up. I wasn’t even acknowledged when I walked in.

Weak I won’t come to this Flame Broiler again. Portions are small. The chicken is dry and over cooked, employees arent very happy. Profit deal for the owner

Worst flame broiler I have ever been to. Slow service, long wait, chicken had bones in it. Dirty tables and unfriendly staff. Won’t be coming back! !!

The location is a bit hidden between Claim Jumper and State Farm on the corner of Beach and La Palma. The customer service is decent. Nothing spectacular. You get a stamp card and after your fifth bowl you get a free drink and after your tenth stamp you get a free bowl. I ordered the beef bowl with white rice and green onions. It was $ 8.10. The food was good. Personally I think you could go elsewhere and pay less and get much more food.

There isn’t much of a review that you can put about this place, the service is always great, the food is amazing and it has me coming back at least 4 times a week! This place is freakin awesome!

For fast food this is a great option. Simple, straight forward. With options to get more veggies or more meat as you prefer. Good size portions. Much better to eat here than any of the options inside KBF park. We walked over and back with the family so cannot comment on any parking issues here.

Horrible. Service was really lacking, the portions super skimpy and the food was really not great at all. So bad that I actually brought mine back, the veggies and rice both undercooked and cold, sauce nonexistent. Food took forever to come out and prices are high for what you get. Not much seating or an inviting location stay at, won’t bother to be back.

Flame broiler food it basically the same at all locations. My review is based on customer service. My family of 5 visited this location and we ordered four bowls. We have small children who can’t eat a whole bowl, so we wanted to divide one between them. We asked for additional bowls. The cashier informed us they couldn’t give them to us. So we offered to pay for them, no problem. So she stops to ask the manager. He got all up on arms completely exasperated that we would ask for additional bowls. We repeated that we would be willing to pay for them. He still says no, they won’t give us any. Really? Thirty dollars or more of food, and you can’t spare a $ 0.05 bowl. Even when we offer to pay whatever you’re asking for it? Not only did you lose that sale, you lost our family’s business in the future. Hundreds of dollars gone because you couldn’t be accommodating.

I love it. I’ve tried all their menu items. Tasty and Healthy — Above all, fresh and cooked to order. I never eat there, I always order to go. Don’t forget the Healthy side orders — they are not on the regular menu. Price is not an issue as customer service is the best. I’ve tried all their menu items. Last but not least, try all their special Sauceses. ENJOY!!!

I’m on the move a lot for work, so I eat Flame Broiler at different locations weekly. Taste is the same as any location but this one happens to have the skimpiest bowls(from the past 2 times I’ve been here). Not even close to as much meat & rice as other Flame Broilers in the area. Not sure if it’s the cooks or something put in place by the owners but I won’t be returning to this location.

The location is very cool. You get Knott’s nearby and a froyo place next door. The store itself is tiny but they have tasty food. A little pricey but definitely good quality. Portions are a little too small which was very disappointing for a first-timer like myself. Another disappointment was the ratio of rice to meat. Their bowls are deep, but the meat only covers the top as the rest of the bowl is nothing but plain rice. What you see is what you get. On the bright side, I was surprised/glad that they accepted my coupon that was meant for Inland city locations. Yay me :) The parking is not the greatest, so I suggest you stock up on magic sauce and order to go!

Stopped in after a day @ Knotts. Hit the spot for sure! The store is clean and the service was good. And thank goodness the bathroom was clean too! We’ll be back the next time we’re in the area again!

Excellent quick bite after spending a Sunday at Knott’s Berry Farm. I ordered the half and half bowl(chicken and beef) with brown rice and green onions. Everything was cooked perfectly. I topped mine off with a little cup of their teriyaki sauce and a little cup of hot sauce for the perfect spice. $ 6.90 plus tax for a great portion size. Parking was okay. You might have to drive around once to find a spot. Seating inside is a bit limited, but most patrons were ordering to take away. There are about 5 or 6 tables inside as well as a few tables outside.

Chain food restaurants are just that chain food. So most of the time you get the same quality food no matter what location you visit. This was the same as any other location you would go to. The parking is a little more difficult due to all the other businesses in the parking lot. So will just go to what I normally order chicken veggie bowl white rice. extra green onions sauce hot sauce and now they have a green sauce that is quite tasty.

Loved this location but will be the last time eating here :/found bristles from the brush? n my food. They replaced my order but I don’t know If I’d trust them again. The manager Patrick is really nice though, didn’t get a chance to talk to him because he wasn’t there.

I love this place! It’s small but the food comes out quick and they let you add the teriyaki sauce yourself. Everything is yummy and well priced. It’s a definite must on anyone’s food list.

I rarely rate fast food places, but this Flame broiler location deserves some recognition. We wanted something different from the usual Knott’s Berry Farm choices so we took a short walk to FB. Anyway the food is typical of the other Flame Broilers but the service here is exceptional. Very friendly staff and the speed of the orders coming out was very good. I would say an average of less then five minutes. The food tastes very fresh and cooked to order. They are also very willing to substitute certain items. We would return here next time we come back to KBF.
