Dah-Sohm is the best Korean BBQ place that I have been to and a great all-you-can-eat dining experience. Upon entrance, we were greeted by the friendly staff and seated promptly. I was very pleased by how clean and tidy the restaurant was. The table grills looked very clean and well-maintained. Our server paid great attention to us and served us promptly. The beef brisket is amazing, and the tofu soup is very delicious. I very much liked how there was such a good variety of the little sides that were served with the meat. The service was great; our server checked up on us often, offered us more meat or anything else whenever we wanted more, and took some time to help cook the meat at our table. The atmosphere is casual, and I appreciated the tidiness of the facilities and environment. It is a bit pricey, but it is Korean BBQ(high quality Korean BBQ I might add), so that’s expected. All in all, THE best Korean BBQ experience I’ve had. They will definitely get my business in the near future!

(Sigh) visited here the other night, before everything else I knew this place is new, it doesn’t hurt trying it out so I’ve decided to add this place on one of my Korean BBQ chowdowns. I was holding my breath getting seated hoping all you can eat BBQ is cheaper than $ 15 then I opened the menu, all you can eat is $ 17.99(sigh) well then I don’t mind, and it better be good?! For meats ordered we got the usual chicken, pork belly, and beef brisket then came the traditional sides, salad and soup but no chup chay?(sigh) okay? I can get that elsewhere that goes with an BBQ order. The sides were okay, the salad kept me busy before the meats came but I did like the Korean Dipping sauce. Now the main thing, the meats! as soon as our waitress turned on the grill we see a small sprout of flame, starting our grillin’ and our waitress tells us to try gather all our meats dead center on the pan. I was like are you getting me? thats gonna take forever to cook! Yes, I understand the heat is in the middle of the grill, to begin with the built-in grills are small, the stove was turned up high, do you think your puny flame is gonna cook our meat to the fullest extent!!! screw that! my George Foreman grill packs heat to bring sizzle than your fizzle!(sigh) I must say the chicken was the only thing that impressed me the most, it was marinated, it had a good taste to it. The beef brisket was okay and it was non-marinated it came second behind chicken, just looking at the pork belly strips raw, it looked like one of those bacon value packs that come fatty, I had to avoid(sigh) Service: good impression at first because everything came quickly but as soon as they served us the meats, they left us alone for a very long time. I placed my empty water glass near the edge to test their attention, no one came to fill my glass up, we had to ask for it, later on ive placed some empty plates on the edge, because i have empty side dishes stacking up, again to try catch their attention still no one, they finally had the will to follow-up only because were checking out, now the plates are picked-up from the table(sigh) Overall this place is a(sigh) I’ve experienced better and I’d rather spend $ 17.99 at Cham Sut Gol in Garden Grove because it still reigns supreme.

KBBQ Review #25. Dah-Sohm…Perhaps pronounced Dhalsim, the SF Yoga Master. This place was once called Hwarosarang, a place that inspired me to write in depth reviews on Korean bbq. Shit, I think I made Hwarosarang famous, but Unilocal alone could not save this place. Like all successful restaurants, location plays an important role. I feel like Dah-Sohm is located somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle as its location is so random. Sadly, I think Dah-Sohm will go through the same fate Hwarosarang did. The low Unilocal review count is probably a strong indicator, as is the number of cars in the lot as I pass by on my way home on a Saturday night. As you walk into Dah-Sohm, nothing much has changed, same restaurant, different name. I wonder what the ambience of Dah-Sohm is like on a Friday night. What makes a Korean bbq experience great is its chaotic atmosphere. Music in the background minus the annoying Happy Birthday song, the sound of the sizzling grill, conversations and laughter, the ringing of the bell for more service, and of course that distinct smell of Korean bbq. When the gf and I walked into Dah-Sohm, the place was pretty much empty. It was completely dead and quiet due to the fact that we came in during the dead hours of the day. Crickets… Ordering has always been easy, all you can eat please! Oh yea, Im going to need some nengmyun with that as well. Waitress looks at me like Im crazy but little do they know. Tip of the Day: Kbbq with nengmyun is probably one of the best combos ever. As you fill yourself with grease, the nengmyun calms your palate from all the grease, enabling you to eat even more kbbq! Warning: You will be stuffed to death if you follow the tip of the day. That being said, the gf and I liked the meat. Im a pork belly/chadol guy and that was good. Gf also had me look over at another table as their ordered some side dish meal which intrigued me as well. You get like 20 side dishes with rice. Sounds good to me. Due to eating there more than a month ago, I could not remember the meat selection or the price. I do remember the service though. Simply put, it was lacking. As these ajummas take their 5 hour breaks in between lunch and dinner, not doing squat but prepping bean sprouts in the back, they could at least be more attentive. What makes them so lazy, no idea. This place has Jinas(refer to Manna review). Having to ring the bell when the place is empty is unacceptable. Ultimately, I have concluded there are far better kbbq places in the OC area to choose from. Dah-Solm would not be my immediate choice if I was in the area. It would not even make top 3.

MMMM, Korean food is amazing. What I hated was that the waitresses always took the tongs out of my hand and decided to cook for me. My boyfriend and I were well of age to know how to put meat on some grill. The sides are so plentiful. This is really what makes the meal. They have sushi and korean bbq here, so that is what really makes this place different. The food is good and the service is nice, but I somehow was expecting more from this place. Better luck next time.
