Pirate’s Dinner Adventure Theater

My family loved the show. Highly recommend for a family style show and dinner that keeps kids engaged and smiling.

Very pricey for what you get. Arrive very early because you want to grab a seat in the open area before it is taken. We got there at 5 and there was already a long line. They opened the doors at 6 and it actually starts at 7. When you walk in they have a little store area and a bar area which is where you want to sit because they have a pre-​show and some snacks. There were people walking around with little snacks but for some reason they kept skipping my table,… wth… and gave some people against the wall… 4 different people went to them, wth. No, you do not pay for the snacks nor tip them. Its stuff such as some bread thing, mozzarella stick, jalapeño poppers. So they have a pre-​show and you can buy drinks, you don’t have an option but to get a cup, paying a pretty price, it was $ 27 for a alcoholic drink and 2 sodas. When we went in we have an option of a couple different soda drinks, a salad or soup then have a meal that there is no options. The kids meal was a scoop of mashed potatoes, chicken nuggets, scoop of mac n cheese and some cantaloupe. My daughter ate the mac n cheese and chicken nuggets. The adult meal was 2 shrimp on a skewer, chicken, mashed potatoes and veggies. The mashed potatoes were the best part. I even ate my daughters mashed potatoes.
There are 6 color teams, you don’t get to choose which team you are on. They do a show for you, it is kind of cheesy but the kids like it. Some kids get picked to participate in the show such as throwing a ball to the pirate or going onstage.

Visited with my family of 7 yesterday for the first time and it was fun. The Pirates show contains a lot of audience interaction so if someone from your party once to go on stage, they can very well be chosen. The show is about an hour and 40 minutes long. You get served either soup or salad, the main meal which is mash potatoes, shrimp skewer with veggies, and half a chicken, then lastly dessert– a very dry brownie and freezer burned vanilla ice cream. I think for the amount per person is cost to attend this event, the food should be so much better. I did not like the chicken because it was a Cajun season on top, it was a bit too much for me, the shrimp and veggies were bland, I only enjoyed the mash potatoes. For drinks they offer you Sierra Mist or Pepsi, that’s it! No tea or lemonade for people who dont drink soda. Only other thing you can get is water unless you go to the bar and pay for a expensive drink because it comes with a souvenir cup. Our waiter was very slow, we got our food late, she served our salads without tomatoes but everyone around us had tomatoes on their salads, she didn’t refill our drinks, and it was just hard to get her attention. I had to get up and find her one time.
They tell you to arrive at 530 because there is a pre-​show and appetizers flowing through the waiting area. Meatballs on bread, mozzarella sticks, sweet potato tater tots for example. TIP– If you get there early, make sure someone in your group grabs a table! It gets soo crowded, so fast and you’ll turn around and all the tables will be gone. We had elder people in our group that couldn’t stand up long so we had to find an employee to bring extra chairs for them to sit because they dont open the main door until after 6:30pm. So we had stand around for an hour.
Parking is free but they do offer valet parking for $ 7. If you get there early enough you can park in the front along the gate for free.
Overrall, the show was fun. However, I do think there was too much talking and singing and there should have been more action. All the good action took place the last 15 minutes. It is something to experience, especially if you have done Medieval Times already and/​or if you can to experience something new or have children but it is not something we would come back every year to.

I came here on a Saturday to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We were a group of about 15 of us and I had a great time. The experience is unique and fun; and similar to that of Medieval Times. Once you’re inside the venue, you’re taken to a room with a bar for drinks and free appetizers while you wait for the show to begin. The finger foods are your regular bar food type of apps like mozzarella sticks, meatballs, tea sandwiches, and little sausages.
Once the show begins you’re taken into this arena or dining area where the show is going to be and you’re sat by which color or team you’re representing. We were team Red Pirate and were sat at the red side. The show was nice and the chicken plate wasn’t bad either.
This is more of a one time thing but it was good to experience it because I always wondered what the pirate show would be like.

The theme for this review shall be: a little less talk, and a lot more action. That’s what this venue could use. Maybe a lot less talk and way more action. And it could also use a new chef.
If Gordon Ramsay visited this place he would have an absolute fit. For example regarding the skewer of «grilled» shrimp and onions I got with the meal, he might choose his trademark expression —
«IT’S RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!»
It was raw. I tried screaming that but there was a fight scene going on and the staff must have mistaken my shouting as cheering for the bad guy. The other food was unremarkable but satisfactory.
But I digress. This place is not advertised as a gourmet restaurant by any means and maybe my expectations were a bit high… But it was $ 60 per person. It’s a show, right? At least that part should be good.
Nope. I mean, you have a super cool venue and a unique theme — a bloody pirate ship! Use it for more than a stage and some simple rope swings! Did the show include the firing of any cannons or explosives of any kind? No. (Well to be fair there was a single explosion about 1 hour in.) Did the characters fight it out to the death and do cool pirate stuff like plunder and attack? Not really.
Most of the show (60−70%) was spent with the actors blabbing on about … something. It was really unremarkable and I can’t even remember what the story was besides the capturing of a supposed princess. Then they had some kind of «competition» that was hard to follow. I was starting to fall asleep by the end. Everyone cheered for their pirate colors… but why? For their gymnastics competition?
Needless to say there is tremendous room for improvement. Though it is a unique experience that is somewhat enjoyable, you will definitely be left wanting more.

What can I say, lively entertainment, decent food, cold beer! Ok, I can say more…
Took my hubby and family this past weekend for Fathers Day. Hubby and the kids loved it. Our 2 youngest got called up on stage not once, but twice. They had the best time ever!
After reading reviews I was kind of scared about the food but it wasn’t too shabby. Chicken was a little slimy for my liking however the mashed potatoes, veggies and shrimp skewer and brownie/​ice cream dessert were pretty good.
The drinks weren’t too pricey, had a beer for $ 8 which included a cup. The gift shop wasn’t bad either. Opted for the FD package that included a light up sword, pirate hat, eye patch and cup of beer for Dad for $ 25. If purchased individually they would have came out to more, so score!
All in all pretty good time. A lot more interactive than Medieval Times (which the kids love also).

This place is amazing. Worth what I paid. We had great laughs. Everything was really entertaining.
Food was great. FYI soup is just ok, salad was great and chicken plus desert was just amazing.

Went last night for our daughters 5^th birthday. We all really enjoyed the whole experience. The service in our opinions was top knotch. The servers were personable, funny and smiling. Appetizers were pretty good! Meal was eh, typical of what a large scale catering would taste like. Do wish they’d nix the shrimp and offer something else as a lot of people actually don’t eat seafood. Wasn’t a fan of the veggies but I just personally don’t like squash and stuff. But we loved the whole thing. They took our daughter and her friends all up to be part of the show (and most kids in the audience got to participate in some aspect of the show) which they just loved. Even our almost 2 year old was entertained nearly the entire time. Great night!

My wife and I came here with family (all adults) and had a blast! A lot of fun for all ages. Each section has a designated pirate that you cheer on and boo the other section’s pirates. Make sure to come for the free pre-​show as well for free appetizers. Highly recommended.

Awesome experience! I’ve read reviews saying the food wasn’t good… Your not going to a steakhouse! I would compare it to Chilis or Applebee’s level of dinning but the fun cocktails make it taste even better
Adults and kids all had a great time! The waiters are great! They work hard to give you fast service! The actors and show are worth the trip alone! We will definitely be back!

I definitely feel that this place deserves 4 stars. The food is a different story but just read my review and I’ll give you my opinion…
We came here tonight to celebrate my son’s graduation… I wish I would have told the girl upon check in so they could have given him a shot out in the show but it’s okay.
They offer valet parking which is $ 7.00 or self park for free which is pretty easy and not difficult. We opted for the 5pm show we got there at 4pm and it was perfrct timing. The girl on the phone when making reservations told me that we could arrive at 330pm as they start serving appetizers. Anyhow check in was easy we walked in and right away was greeted and offer some appetizers. Some of the appetizers I saw being passed around was jalapeño poppers which were quite good, fried zucchini, veggies: broccoli, carrots and celery served with ranch dressing, fried mac and cheese, sweet potatoes and some other appetizer but I didn’t try it. They were all very good especially the jalapeño poppers. They also have a bar area, merchandise for kids, merchandise for adults as well as face painting. My Husband purchased a beer for $ 13.25 shock top it was pretty large and served in a souvenir cup which you take home it was glass.
Anyhow they begun their announcement to everyone prepping us about the show and the different color pirates and to walk in to the auditorium once your color pirate is called. Upon check in they will give you colored flags. After being seated a server comes around and asks about your food preference and menu, etc. They offered vegetable soup cooked in chicken broth or salad. They offer pepsi, sierra mist or water and coffee at the end. You can choose vegetarian or non veg. For vegetarian they served butternut squash with sides of veggies and madh potatoes. The mash potatoes were realllly, reallly good!!! The butternut squash wasnt too bad however the sauce on top was too sweet and glazed with balsamic it was a little much but I did scrape it off. The veggies itself could have been cooked a little longer they were too crunchy for my taste. The chicken and shrimp kabob was also okay my Husband gives it 3 stars out of 5. The kids meal was gross my son didn’t even eat the chicken nuggets he’s already picky enough but the chicken nuggets were microwaved tasting, would have been nice of they were more crunchy. Lastly, the meal was served with fudge brownie with ice cream. By than, I was pretty stuff the pasta was pretty heavy so I didn’t really have more than two bites but it was okay. All in all the food is definitely 3 stars out of 5.
The show itself was very entertaining, very interactive, fun and keeps you on your toes especially when they have all the lights flashing, the loud booms from the gun sounds and the pirates doing their stunts. It was a lot of fun!!!
All in all a very good experience, my son enjoyed it and he laughed and cheered and even got a lil spooked when the loud gun shots but definitely had a good time.
The servers were attentive and really busted their butts off. They do have people going back and forth so your view gets blocked a lot and they do have a person asking you during the show if you would like to purchase your souvenir photo. When you first enter they will ask your party to pose for a picture so put your best smile on and get your wallet out $ 20 for a souvenir photo or politely decline. Oh and you get to keep your flags and beads to take home. :)
Great show, great stunts, great time. The show makes up for the food!!!

The show itself is quite entertaining (gives a large percentage of the audience an opportunity to participate on stage and be a part of the show)
The food is terrible. (lack of seasoning, shrimp and chicken are over tenderized so there’s no texture, brownie is dry, etc…)

This place is really rad. Yeah the food isn’t uh-​mazing but it’s a large scale catering event. Our server was awesome. The aerialists were so talented and I had a great night out.
Drinks were pricey but strong, and I expect these kinda prices for places like this.

Came here because groupon had a deal lol. My hubs and I paid $ 29 each for the Monday-​Thursday show. To my surprise there were a lot of people given it was on a week day. We opted for the 7pm show because we both work during the day. Check in was at 5:30.
Parking was free. Yay for that. The check in process was fast. We got our seat numbers and even got to take pictures (for $ 20 of course) kinda pricey but because it was date night, we got suckered into it.
As soon as we walked in the building, we were greeted by servers with trays of appetizers! Delish! I tried everything from the veggie plate, cheese sticks, sandwiches, jalapeño poppers and soft drinks. Being that I’m currently pregnant and always hungry, this was heaven!
Drinks were pricey. My S/​O got a couple beers and I had apple juice. Yes it came with souvenir bottles but $ 30 worth? Naaaaah. So if you guys have been doing the math that’s $ 50 already on top of the tickets. Yikes!
Then the show started and it was great! Very interactive and entertaining. I was chosen to play a part of the game so that was an experience :) of course I won for my team so yay!
Now let’s talk about dinner … We felt kinda rushed but I understand that they’re just on a time limit from drinks, dinner to desert.
Dinner was a choice of veggie soup or house salad, mashed potatoes (amazing btw), veggies, shrimp skewers and grilled chicken. They even give you seconds! As for the drink they give you one choice and they give you a pitcher. Dessert was brownie ala mode. It was good but the brownie wasn’t fresh and I only ate half.
Overall it was a cute date. We can cross this one off our list!

We came here to celebrate my fiancé’s stepmother’s birthday and got a great deal on Living Social. I have always wanted to experience a dinner show and the Pirate’s Dinner Adventure was an arrr-​some time!
Audiences are divided into groups of colors: orange, green, yellow, blue and purple. We were in the awesome purple group, led by First Pirate, Saxon! Saxon has some smooth dancing skills, I think Justin Bieber’s got competition! A big part of dividing the audiences in different groups is the rivalry and competition, a central theme of the show. Similar to the Cinépolis experience, patrons were served their 3-​course meal as the show went on. Although at times it was kind of distracting — what do I focus on, my visual, auditory or gustatory senses? I felt the multitasking made the show so exciting and entertaining.
The actors rehearsed well, their singing, dancing and acrobatic techniques were spot on. At times they even threw in a few adult-​appropriate, pop culture jokes. The timing of their jokes were great and they never broke character. During the show the pirates also invited kids and selected audience members to go on stage, a great way for interaction and role play.
And last but not least, I bet you are all wondering how the food was. Surprisingly, the food was decent and better than what I had in mind. The meal started with soup or salad, the entrée included roasted chicken, shrimp kabob and creamy mashed potatoes, finished with brownies à la mode. All meals include pitchers of your choice of refreshments. You also have the option of upgrading your meal for $ 12 to include lobster and a (plastic) cup of champagne, which my fiancé did for his folks. I read a few reviewers complain about the quality of their meal, but in my defense for this show, if you are expecting a Michelin-​starred meal, there’s a place called Napa Rose that would be good for you. I felt the food was delicious for what it is worth.
With all the positive aspects, there were a few minor hiccups. The gift shop/​waiting cocktail area where the «pre-​show» was held was a bit small and crowded, a potential for a fire hazard issue. Also, the theater is overwhelmingly short-​staffed, I can tell they were hustling and busting their butts to make orders, fulfill requests and make our experience a good one. Overall, the staff and performers here at the Pirate’s Dinner Adventure Theater worked hard to deliver, even staying late to take pictures with their fans. The crew certainly put on a show where we «wooed» and «ahhhed» continuously. Great place to bring kids and birthday occasions.

I am basing this review, not on the show, but on the food…
This place is advertised as a «DINNER THEATRE»… but the dinner was absolutely horrible. Not only was the adults dinner bad, but the children’s dinner was so bad two of the three kids we took wouldn’t even eat it and they are not picky…
The dinner was a salad or soup, grilled shrimp skewer, roasted chicken on the bone, mashed potatoes, and veggies. Chocolate cake for desert, with a scoop of ice cream.
The salad was wilted (only lettuce, no tomato or croutons), and drenched in dressing, the shrimp was cold and not de-​vained, the chicken was ok but lacked flavor, and the veggies were the gross frozen peas and carrots you were forced to eat as a kid. If I had a napkin, which I was not given, I would have hid them in it out of habit.
The kids meal consisted of, fruit (can’t go wrong there), chicken nuggets, and macaroni and cheese. None of the kids ate their nuggets… how can you go wrong with chicken nuggets? and the macaroni and cheese was too salty for them… they ended up eating the fruit and the chicken off my plate, so I didn’t eat. (not that I was missing much)
We also paid for a special cake for my nephew for his birthday, which he never got.
I understand that the majority of the money they make goes toward the show, however when you present a dinner theatre and the dinner is un-​edible like it was, why at that point don’t you just put on a show and open a snack bar? it would have tasted better.
The appetizers before the show were not as bad… maybe the key is to fill up on those before your meal so that you’re not hungry… we had to go get food after the show because no one ate.
The show is always good. This is not the first time I have gone to this particular dinner theatre. I’ve always enjoyed the show. After the first time, I thought maybe we got them on a bad night for the food (new chef?) but unfortunately it did not improve.

All in all we had a really good experience! I thought the food was pretty decent, the show was entertaining and the drinks were pretty stout! If you’re coming make sure to get there early! They pass out appetizers and have a little entertainment while you’re waiting!
If you need tickets head to Costco! They have a 2-​pack for only $ 56.98 plus tax works out to about $ 30 a head much cheaper than even the «group rates»
If you’re bringing a kid make sure to seek someone out ahead of time, they can add them to the show! It will be worth it for sure!

Had an AWESOME experience! Took my niece and nephew, ages 10 and 8, and they absolutely loved it! The got to be a part of the show — twice! Our pirate, the Blue Pirate, interacted with our group throughout the evening, and all of the actors were gracious and funny, and let the kids get pics with them. You will absolutely have more fun if you actively participate though. The food was fine — don’t expect gourmet, you’re really paying for the experience. New cant wait to go again for their Christmas show in December!

Took my honey for Valentine’s Day. Such a fun time. We had a blast the whole time. The show was fantastic. The food was okay. We will be going back again soon! Go team yellow

I have mixed feelings regarding this establishment, but ultimately the show is what won me over. I was not a huge fan of the food, and the workers there were a bit rude (or maybe just tired)…but the show was very entertaining.
Plus it had topless, muscular men, so HEY… winner in my book.

I came with my nephew and my family for my nephew’s 26^th birthday. My brother turns 21 in a month. He did not order or consume any drinks, however we all did. My sister and I are gastric bypass patients and cannot drink and eat at the same time, but have to wait 30 minutes between. The bartender asked for my brother’s ID when I ordered my sister’s boyfriend a drink since he had only had a beer and wanted to try a mixed drink and we were confused by her hostility. Later during the show, I ordered a refill and set it aside as I cannot eat and drink at the same time. We were trying to enjoy the show when a man with white hair threatened to «cut off» and «eject our whole table» his words because he «has a liquor license to uphold». I have never been more embarrassed or uncomfortable in my life, and my nephew who turns 6 today had his celebration ruined. In no way does this reflect the performers or wait staff, in any way. This reflects an overzealous bartender who wrongly accused my brother, a young Marine, who is enlisting shortly and does not imbibe, at all, and a guard who threatened a 6 year old child, and his family, on his birthday.
Update: I spoke to the operations manager after the show and she did not apologize; instead she argued stating my brother was drinking and simply said that they will update their training for the employees.

Loved the show! People complain about the little things but at the end of the day you just can’t please everyone. My boyfriend and I had so much fun! We had the purple pirate, who was awesome! He was really funny. My boyfriend and I are both in our 20’s and we had a blast. We had a few drinks and appetizers before the show. We ate until we were stuffed and we thought the food was really good. Maybe not the best we have ever had but it was good enough to eat everything on our plate. We were happy, service was great. Shout out to Jaqueline (I am pretty sure that as her name) she was the sweetest thing. I felt so bad not having any cash on me for the tip part but she was great! She made sure we had everything we needed. I’m a dummy and forgot my flag at the end of the show and I’m pretty sure the kids running around took it. I wanted it for my scrap book. :/​. I told her what happened and she ran and found one for me, I was thrilled. She didn’t have to do it but I do appreciated it. THANK YOU!
We have been to both pirates and medieval in the last month and we like both for different reasons. Pirates is a bit more intimate and more like a musical theatre type of thing. Sorta* haha
Medieval had more of a competitive vibe along with the show aspect

Beware of the Groupon for this place it’s a bit misleading. The ad reads like there is limited ticket availability, but it turns out they limit the number of groupon tickets allowed each night. If they hit their groupon availability, then they tell you nothing is available unless you are willing to pay full-​price. I can’t stand places with shady marketing practices. They should be clear about this and clarify in their Q&A section of groupon.
Having said that have been here a few times before and wouldn’t come back if it weren’t for the kids. As others have said, it is far from a good dining experience, but the show is entertaining for the kids.

I came here over winter break with some friends and we had a great time! We got the groupon so it came out to be about $ 40 a person. The food/​dinner itself was pretty awful– like some reviewers have mentioned, it tasted a lot like frozen food. It comes with chicken, mashed potatoes, veggies, and beef. You also get to choose between soup (tomato) and salad (with ranch). For dessert, they gave us a brownie and vanilla ice cream.
The show, though, was totally worth the money (well, the groupon price). The stunts (especially the aerial silks part) were incredible and the acting was pretty good. I am an adult, and I still really enjoyed it. But I think I would have loved it even more if I were a kid.
Overall, this is a great place to take the family out, but it’d also be nice as a date or hangout with friends. Now I want to go to Medieval Times and see how it compares: P I just wish the food were better.

It seems like Living Social/​Groupon ALWAYS has a deal going on for Pirate’s Dinner Adventure Theater (note for all you spelling/​grammar hounds, yes, «Pirate’s» is singular when it should be plural… it was driving me nuts as well) — so when it came up yet again before our anniversary, I decided to take Kathy here for an early dinner show.
We got there early to partake of the free tray passed appetizers — while these were obviously store bought, I really liked the mac & cheese bites and the corn fritters. While we didn’t order any of the (overpriced) drinks, I did get a Diet Coke in a refillable lenticular cup… and by refillable, I mean that you can only get a refill once you’re seated in the main dining area, otherwise it would cost a dollar to refill it at the bar.
(I should add that they really push the purchasing of the souvenirs, flags, bandannas, photos taken at the entrance, et cetera… yes, if you have little ones, keep an eye on your wallet! Although, I have to admit, even we weren’t immune; I ended up buying a couple of flags and bandannas for our cheering section.)
Once we saw the pre-​show where our pirate Saxon (the purple garbed one who’s a bit crazy during the show… but he’s very entertaining!) led us to our seating area, we were shortly served our orders. For the most part, the food wasn’t THAT bad — while the soup and side dishes of mashed potatoes and vegetables were definitely institutional food, the roast chicken and beef skewer actually weren’t as bad as I’d read in other Unilocal reviews. I should’ve taken advantage of the waitresses asking us if we wanted extra chicken, as the portions were pretty big and I could’ve had it packaged to go. The brownie and ice cream dessert wasn’t too bad, but I was so full that I only noshed on the ice cream.
As for the show — DEFINITELY worth the wait. Very entertaining, with swordfights, stunts involving rope swinging and trampoline jumping (at one point, one of the pirates got so into the somersaults, all the others started counting along), and a aerial show that was so breathtaking, their portion of the show allowed them to take a very well-​deserved bow to the applause from the audience. Lots of jokes (like I said, if you get Saxon, he WILL make you laugh!) — nothing too bawdy, seeing how this is a family-​friendly show, and plenty of singing as well. The plot… well, it’s something about a sea dragon egg hatching and a princess, but just put your brain in neutral and enjoy the performance.
Even if you don’t have kids, Pirate’s Dinner Adventure Theater will definitely entertain you (if only to make you forget how much you spent on souvenirs, drinks, and tipping) — just make sure you use a Groupon/​Living Social deal when going. Oh, one more thing I should mention — there’s only TWO bathrooms in the entire theater… and when there’s a bunch of people waiting to go after the performance, let’s just say the lines to use them are going to be long.

Cool and entertaining! It’s a ton of fun for people of all ages. Come early for passed hors d’oeuvres like crudités and fried corn balls. There’s a bar right at the entrance and drinks can range from $ 7 for wine and a large beer or $ 18 for a mixed drink and a souvenir glass. I stuck with the cheap wine because the bathroom line can be a real bear… especially when you’re already seated for dinner.
The dinner food is ok but you get a hefty portion of quarter roasted chicken, beef kabob, mashed potatoes, and peas and carrots. Service is great and timed, so they bring your food immediately, bus the other rows, and pick up your plates soon after — so hurry and eat!

Several pros and many cons to this night.
Since this is a dining experience my review is geared towards the food directly. Yet, I’d like to mention that the show was amazing and I really enjoyed the pirate act. The general atmosphere was exciting and fun! A sure place to take the kids!
Great service the servers were friendly, the food was bland and mediocre. Brownie was stale, cold, and boring. With generic chocolate sauce. Chicken bland. Veggies bland. Kabob bland and boring. Horrible food. But show and service was good hence the 2 stars.

I wish I could rate the food quality completely separate from the show, in regards to the star level. I was going back and forth between the two or three stars.
I’m not a picky food critic, but the dinner they serve is complete garbage and needs an upgrade. It reminded me of middle school cafeteria food.
A dry, bland salad or a poor vegetable soup. The greasy baked or boiled chicken was edible, nothing you’d remember as good and served with peas and carrots. Mashed potatoes with the skin in it.
The vegetables seem to be the frozen out of the bag type served at room temp. The dessert was a stale brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it.
The show was very enjoyable, the kids liked it. And they were really excited to get to take pictures with the star of the show in the lobby afterwards, no charge.
Show was cool, but since this is categorically a «Dinner Adventure» I can’t give them a 3^rd or 4^th star until they upgrade the hospital kitchen quality of food. It’s not like the show is cheap or anything. It needs to get better.
I’ll try them again when I hear the menu changed.

So first things first, I have to echo everyone else who said the food is okay at best. It is reminiscent of a frozen dinner. We got a chicken thigh and beef kabob. The meats were both tender, but both lacked flavor. The brownie was just disappointing, bland and poor texture. Soup and side dishes were equally lackluster. At the price point, the food needs to better. Drinks are pretty pricey, but some include a commemorative glass. $ 27 for a drink when the food is poor is too much
So why the four stars? The actors and service. We went during a Christmas themed show and ok, ok the plot is a little difficult to follow, and it wasn’t because of our fishbowl Mai tai. The pirates are incredibly entertaining though and can really sing. If you’re not into musicals, you might be out of luck here. There are several interactive components of the show, mostly for the kids. We both had a great time and laughed throughout. The actors were all really cool about selfie ops too.
Our server was attentive, polite and personable. So five stars there.
Check groupon or the website for deals on tickets. We got half off during their toy drive.
Definitely entertaining, but don’t go expecting an amazing meal. I’d go again but only for the actors.

A year ago, I was across the street at Medieval Times and I didn’t have a great time. I thought Pirates Adventure would be a similar experience, but I was wrong! The show is very entertaining and there’s a lot of audience participation. The theater is also a lot smaller so all the seats are close to the stage. There are some seats that are off to the side, which wouldn’t have a great view, but we were seated in the middle so I have no complaints. The actors in this show are actually very talented and athletic.
The food isn’t great, but I didn’t come here to have a delicious meal. You start with either a tomato soup with rice or salad with ranch. The entrée is a quarter chicken, beef skewer, mashed potatoes, and corn/​pea/​carrot medley. The chicken is pretty good. The beef skewer I could not eat because the texture of the beef is so soft (almost like braised beef). The mashed potatoes are good. They taste fresh because there are chunks of potatoes in it. The vegetable medley is just cooked frozen food. I picked out the corn and only ate that. The servers will come and ask if you want a second serving of chicken so don’t worry if you’re still hungry. The dessert is a very, very dry brownie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup.
It’s a great spot to celebrate a kid’s birthday or in my case, to celebrate an anniversary with an adult who still wants to be a kid. There are Groupon deals for $ 29-​$ 35 per adult depending on the night. When you call to make a reservation, you’ll have to pay a $ 5 per person service fee.

When you come in you enter a big hall. They try to imitate and reimagine the interior or the ship.
Inside they have 2 fully stocked bars, free appetizers carried by pirates walking around.
They have seats if you arrive early enough, if you don’t you can wander around.
They have keepsakes and swords, and pirate memorabilia that you can buy.
At the entrance they give you a card with a color and a number designating your seat and section.
They call in all the people and then you go to your assigned seating.
If you’ve been to medieval times the whole thing feels familiar.
The pirate servers take your drink order and then the show begins. You’re assigned a pirate. The show is a mixture of adventure action and comedy.
You go on an adventure with the Pirates with plot twists and signing. Be warned if you don’t like signing then don’t go, they do break into song occasionally.
I think that the show does change periodically because I remember the first show was different all together from the second.
The food in my very humble opinion is better then that of medieval times. They give you a salad or soup. Then protein, chicken and a slice of beef, and a brownie. The food is a little bland I’m guessing due to dietary restrictions or something along those lines so bring salt.
My wife liked pirates more than medieval, I personally like the opposite but in my opinion the food is better here.
Nevertheless this place is magnificent and a great time so go ahead and go visit both locations. Honestly they both are great!

It’s Medieval Times’ swashbuckling cousin. Same concept and literally right next door.
The freebie appetizers in the lobby pre-​show are pretty good but you have to be quick on your feet and be prepared to throw an elbow or two before they run out.
I thought the dinner itself might have been a tad better than the one at Medieval Times but you didn’t come for the food, dum dums. At least I hope you didn’t.
While my heart ached for the slobbering horses at Medieval Times, this show is animal free aside from the male pirate beasts. Frankly, I saw more shirtless men here than I bargained for but still, I think I preferred this show over Medieval Times. Plus, even the worst seats here are closer to the action than at the other joint.
Groupon and other email special deals are regularly available. It’s a fun time if you have kiddies. Plus, they have seriously overpriced booze if you really want to explore your inner pillager.

My boyfriend and I came here after we had been to Medevil times a few months prior and I thought this would be just as fun! I was wrong. $ 60 a person is a huge waste of money. I wish I had known about the Groupon, but I still probably would have wanted my money back.
The show was so lame and cheesy and not that funny in my opinion. It had some mildly entertaining parts but that’s about it. The only good part about it was the acrobats and that is always fun to watch but that was really the only bright spot and the only reason I’m leaving 2 stars and not 1. This maybe would be a better place to come to with kids.
The food is nothing special in my opinion. Not terrible but nothing to write home about either. The drinks here are wildly overpriced.
If you want to go to a fun show while you eat your dinner, Medevil times is way better.

The only reason you should be coming here is because you have a little kid that you want to make happy.
Got a Groupon to this place and from the pictures it looks quite entertaining. so why not! Well, it was for a couple minutes. The show itself is quite interactive as you are assigned a pirate color and you cheer for your pirate.
The food here is atrocious. The vegetables on the plate are the frozen kind are that heated to about luke-​warm. The brownie was really bland and powdery. The salad is just drenched in ranch. Lastly, our servers forgot our drinks. It was sort of annoying at the end of the show that they were passing out cards that say thank you for coming and to make sure to tip the servers. The lighting is very dim so you’d focus you attention on the show and to mask the presentation of the food.
But like I said, the kids love it here.

I have never done this Pirates Dinner Adventure show before and once I saw that they had a groupon deal for it we decided why not try and go and do this. I was thinking it would be something very similar to the knights show which I can’t remember what it is called but they have it on the same street just a few addresses down. It was something different and totally unexpected in a good way!
First we had to give them a call to see if they could take us in during the weekday. No matter what that is what you got to and the lady on the phone took down my name and information, how many people were attending and special instructions in which we had to print out this groupon since they didn’t have a scanner.
When the night came and gave them our name and we then started the adventure. First if you wanted you could take a picture somewhere in the front. I declined that just because the timing and the sun would be directly in our faces which isn’t a good thing.
When you walk in there is a bar area with seating also to the sides they do sell different pirate gear and all sots of various toys for the young and the old. It doesn’t really matter what age you are but it still felt pretty cool.
During the show there are different colors like teams and with that they are trying to win or take these two pretty ladies as I guess you would call it a prize. The food I thought was actually a lot! I can’t believe that many people have complained about portion sizing. For me I thought it was just right if any it was a lot!
If you didn’t get enough alcohol in your system there were people yelling at you during the show if you wanted to get another so that is also pretty convenient. Overall had a great time and loved the show it was pretty interactive and I can see why everyone would have fun. You could see the stage pretty well it is pretty much on a pirate boat and everything which is amazing! Loved every minute of it and I think this would be a pretty cool place to bring the young ones especially for a birthday or some kind of activity like that!

Yo ho yo ho it’s the pirate’s life for me!
This was so much fun! And I didn’t even come here with kids, I came with coworkers after a particularly stressful day of work and this was just the light hearted activity we needed. Perfect for families, friends, or even a date! Yes it’s cheesy, but come with an open mind and you might be surprised how much you enjoy it! Here’s how our experience went:
BOOKING (⁰⁄₅ stars): booking was a nightmare! So difficult we almost didn’t go! The lady on the phone was very rude and unhelpful. We called twice and each took turns speaking with her until we were able to make the reservation. They either need to make operators like this walk the plank or have an online booking option.
PRESHOW (⁵⁄₅ stars): surprisingly entertaining! We came early and weren’t expecting much, but you should get there early enough to see the preshow as it sets the context for the rest of the show. They have lots of servers walking around serving apps and there’s a good amount going around so it’s not hard to get seconds and thirds. That could also be because the apps taste terrible, but kids might be into them.
Tips:
–get drinks at this time! They can be tough to come by when the show starts. They are expensive, but not as much as I thought they’d be, and the bartenders are pretty easy going about making them stronger.
–buy a flag and maybe a bandanna but definitely a flag! You’ll be surprised how fun it is to wave your pirate’s flag color during the show!
SHOW (⁵⁄₅ stars): so much better then I thought! Yes the acting is not Oscar worthy, but each pirate has their own particular charm, the jokes are funny, and there’s a decent ish storyline. Plus the gypsy girl is a super talented acrobat! She was one of my favorite parts of the show! The show is insanely interactive with tons of audience participation. The actors do a fantastic job paying attention to the audience and interacting with them.
FOOD (⁰⁄₅): what did you expect? This is not a place you come to for the food. Even the brownie for dessert was bad and I don’t know how you can mess up a brownie. Eat before or after.
SERVICE (⁴⁄₅): minus the booking wench, everyone else was very pleasant! Our waiter was very fun and jokey, and extremely attentive.
PRICE (³⁄₅): a bit over priced at $ 65 per person, but they always have groupons and other deals going.
All in all, it’s great entertainment! Channel your inner jack sparrow, loosen up, and have a great time! ARGH!!!

The Pirate Dinner Adventure in Buena Park is a great social spot and entertainment venue that’s perfect for a couple, big family, or large group. There was so much fun things happening and we can break it down into the pre-​show social time, the dinner, and the live action show.
Our dinner adventure started in a great way. All attendees got a chance to meet each other in the bar /​gift shop area of the venue. This gave everyone a chance to talk, take pictures and meet new friends if they wanted to :-). The venue has a full bar and is pretty well priced for a show venue. I bought large souvenir glass with Captain and Cola (YARRRR) for $ 16 and you can refill it for only $ 8. The neat thing is you can bring the glass back if you return another time and the refills are still only 8 bucks!
There was a small pre-​show in the bar area where were learned the plot of the dinner show and met the pirate we will be cheering for during the show. We were then lead to our seating area in the arena. Our pirate was Cutthroat Jack and he lead our section through the events. The show consisted of the six pirates (representing six sections of the arena) competing for the position of First Mate of the pirate ship and then for the hand in marriage of the captured princess. Each section got to cheer and yell for their pirate during the competition. They even brought participants from the audience to be a part of the show. They brought up kids onto the main stage a swore them in a pirates. My buddy Dave and I got a chance to get into pirate gear and help them raise the sails during the show with other members of the audience. The whole show was very interactive and super fun!!!
The dinner was served as the show was going on. You had your choice of veggie tomato soup or salad for starting. Then, the main course consisted of roasted chicken and beef/​veggie skewer. The meats were accompanied with a side of mashed potatoes and veggies. They even had a vegetarian option with veggie lasagna! Everything tasted great. It wasn’t gourmet, and most closely resembled El Pollo Loco, which is good :-). The only thing is that they serve the food a little too fast, so I felt a little rushed. Maybe I was paying too much attention to the show. They even offer seconds or a box to take food home.
So bottom line: It was a really fun time! We had a chance to meet new people, see a great show, and have some good food.
Pro Tip: Sneak in a flask if you are going to go to the Pirate Dinner Adventure or Medieval Times. The dinner comes with your choice of Pepsi products. You might as well have a little Captain Morgan with you :-D
