Valentine’s Day dinner, 2016 at Mother Hubbard’s was FANTASTIC! Appetizer, salad, main course with rolls, dessert and champagne for two for $ 60 — in this valley, how can that be beat? Especially since everything was incredible. The appetizer was cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, basil and olive oil, can you say yum? This was followed by a mixed salad with a fabulous citrus dressing(I wanted to lick my plate). We both chose the T-bone steak dinner with mashed and veggies — the steaks were cooked perfectly(I like mine rare, and it was), and we’re smothered in mushrooms. Dessert just put us over the top — a frozen hollowed half-sphere of white chocolate, filled with vanilla ice cream, setting on a brownie surrounded by fresh raspberries and blueberries, then topped with hot fudge when served! Jon, Doniece and Phil — thank you so much for that evening, it was really special! We always enjoy our meals at your place and have never, I repeat, never been disappointed with a selection, whether breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a special occasion meal.

Fantastic service and food here! Came here for dinner. There was only one waitress, so service was a tad slow, but her attitude was great! She really made the experience fun and enjoyable. I ordered the whiskey burger and fries. The fries were nice, big wedges and did not feel over fried. The burger was huge. I liked the sauce and the spicy ketchup. I felt the meat was a bit dry. Otherwise, the rest of the burger was great and very filling.

Found this place on Unilocal and decided to stop for breakfast and very happy and satisfied that we did. I had the Mexican omelet with home fries and opted for the biscuits instead of toast because they were homemade and very happy I did. To my surprise they cane with gravy on the side. My omelet was delicious hot and fluffy lots of chorizo and the biscuits and gravy were awesome. My boyfriend had the ABT omelet with blueberry pancakes and his omelet he saw as really good lots of big pieces of avocados and the blueberry pancakes were really good! The portions are good size you won’t go hungry and the service was great! Will definitely come back next time we come out this way on a road trip!

Delicious BLT with avocado on whole wheat toast with potato salad. Really fabulous food in a cozy down home simple environment. Adore the teddy bears, which are for sale. Service was great, with friendly efficient staff. Large portions are fairly priced. I always share a plate with my elderly mother, because it really is too much for one person. Thank You for a perfect meal!

Used the trusty Unilocal and hungry tummy to finally decide to try out this place since we were staying at a motel nearby. Service was a bit slow but that’s cuz you have 1 person running the show and using a10 key solar power calculator to sum up your dinner checks while entertaining a lil girl I’m assuming she was babysitting. There was another lady there whom I presume was the owner, she mingled with guests on occasions as well as that lil girl Food was a very generous portion. First time for boyfriend to try country fried chicken steak with mash and gravy. I had the whisky Burger. Burger was HUGE!!! and dripped all over my hands but was absolutely mouth watering. Boyfriend found a new fatty dish that includes gravy and mash now to add biscuits It’s a mom n pop type of place, very cozy. You don’t always get great cuisine in places like these, this one’s am exception, highly recommended. Look for daily specials on the chalk board

Veggies cook to perfection and the mash potatoes and gravy were yummy also. Perfect portions. Mom had the Chicken fried steak and eggs. She loved it also. Service was great. I will be back again thats for sure.

This is a local old school diner. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and the friendly service continued. This is one of the few places that serves steak cut fries. Husby ordered the beef dip and I got the homemade hash, both very tasty.

Great service and great food. It took more than a couple of minutes to get a table for two, but on a Sunday at 10:30, we weren’t surprised. The mimosas were surprisingly delicious(although for wine country, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised)! You get your own bottle of tasty prosecco with a glass of fresh squeezed OJ. I had two eggs, over-easy, and two strips of bacon with a Belgian waffle that came with an enjoyable pecan praline butter along with syrup. I think this was called the Max combo? Everything was served quickly and still hot despite how busy the restaurant was. I look forward to my next visit.

Saw people lined up outside last night so we had to try it. Great Chicken fried steak and eggs! Kathi had the scramble with diced ham. Eggs cooked just right and loads of ham. Courteous staff and great atmosphere. Be early or be prepaired to wait!!!

We now use walkers. The front is difficult to enter and some locals use the rear entrance. We had breakfast and I had the Jon’s Special breakfast(Jon is the owner of this restaurant). All the food was great.

After spending the afternoon in Los Olivos, and then back in the Hotel resting up for a lil bit, Schoolteacher and I were getting hungry, and looking for a local dinner. I suggested Andersen’s, but we’d both been there. As Schoolteacher lazily flipped through Unilocal reviews, she informed me that this place had breakfast all day long. She certainly does know what lures me. We drove over there, and discovered that their store front parking is actually off the main street. Not by much, there’s a small opening on the side of the street that leads you into that shopping plaza’s parking area. We missed it the first time, and had to loop around to get at it. So look out for that. Once safely parked, we walked into the place. It was well lit, and bright. The place also had not many people inside. There were two other occupied tables, and it was fairly quiet. We were greeted quickly, and seated at our own table, in between the other two occupied ones. Drinks were ordered and menus were delivered to peruse. We perused while drinking our beverages. I was quite impressed with the iced tea. It was actually quite good! I went with the chicken fried steak breakfast meal, and Schoolteacher ordered the fried chicken dinner with vegetables. Well, we both had chicken. That counts as healthy… right? Before too long, our food arrived, and we dug in after the photo. We both ate and discussed our upcoming plans for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We also both commented on how the food was good. The girl stopped by frequently to make sure the food was okay, and that our beverages never ran dry, and just to check in to make sure we were okay. Nice staff, nice place, I’m glad we came here. Next time in Buellton, we’ll probably stop in again, because breakfast all day is just a wonderful thing.

We were looking for some lunch in the area, and after already having sampled the fare at Pea Soup Andersons across the street, we decided based on several great reviews to try Mother Hubbards. It is a very cute little country type café. Lots of wood, and western décor. It was around 11:15am, so I watched a combination of breakfast and lunch dishes exiting the kitchen. We were in more of a lunch kind of mood. My son ordered a beef dip sandwich with fries, and quickly polished off his sandwich. My husband opted for a beefeater sandwich, roast beef with ortega chiles, cheese on Texas toast. I had the club sandwich on a nice soft telera roll. Both my husband and I chose the home made potato salad as our side. I am always a bit skeptical when a restaurant claims their potato salad is home made(I’m like«yea sure it is, you just scooped it out of the Smart and Final tub».) but Mother Hubbards was delicious, and clearly was legit. Service was awesome, and I would definitely return here whenever my travels take me to central CA.

My wife and I stopped here for a quick bite to eat on our way back up the coast. We both had the«Mess» to eat, which is a mixed scramble. It was very good. The place was very busy and our food was not as hot as we would have liked, but we would probably come back to try the waffles.

The search for a great breakfast place in Solvang/Buellton continues. The Unilocal reviews raved about the corned beef hash, that was just okay, the waffle we ordered was cold. The highlight for me(and I had low expectations) was the biscuit. I did enjoy seeing 6 nuns come in and order breakfast.

Salad was not worth ordering. The leaves had not been strained thoroughly, leaving a small pool of water on the plate. Definitely stay clear of that menu item. So I decided to have a bite of my son’s French toast. Very delicious. The helping was massive, more than enough for myself and my son. Would recommend this to anyone that doesn’t have diabetes.
