Came across this shop several months ago during a weekend visit to Shelburne Falls. The selection was amazing, and I was just admiring the rare, out of print books that were purchased that day. I look forward to returning soon.

Where else could you pick up a William Shatner Fan Club membership card and an antique map of geological formations in the area? Lots to choose from, and the proprietor is friendly.

After crossing the Bridge of Flowers, we spotted to the right a sign for a shop selling used books and ephemera. No, this isn’t a Dungeon and Dragons role playing scenario but a scene that unfolded this past Saturday in the quaint town of Shelburne Falls.(Where Bill Cosby apparently lives!) We entered and were greeted by the friendly proprietor who asked if we were looking for anything in particular. She guided us to the local history section and thus began the browsing adventure, with each shelf bringing forth new and unusual titles that had us in a virtual treasure hunt. I made my way to the cooking section which included recipe books from the mid to late 19th century, including works by Mrs. Beeton, one of the first advocates of eating locally and eating well(About 150 years ago) Next up was a copy of notorious English writer and alcoholic Kingsley Amis’ «On Drink». I moved on to another section of the store that dealt with«technology», 19th century technology. Old manuals, school books, guides on what was cutting edge technology for the time, prior to the digital age, were all in excellent condition. My only disappointment was that the store was closing and we didn’t have more time to explore. There’s really an incredible collection of books and ephemera to satisfy all interests.
