I have a lot of emotions attached with Yangming. This is the first restaurant my husband took me for a date after we got married… that was way back in 2012. Yangming’s dishes were 3.5 stars at that time. Fast forward 4 years… the same us come here for a date before my husband leaves the city and perhaps this part of the country forever… and I feel too generous to donate the Unilocal-mandated lowest ranking of 1 star to this restaurant. Enough said…

Yang Ming is back. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner here with first rate service. The new décor is very nice. We ordered our old favorites and they did not disappoint. We will return soon. Good to see our old friend again.

Checked out Yangming for lunch. Used the 25% Off lunch or dinner deal. A lunch consisting of Wonton Soup spring rolls(2) and chicken with vegetables and a small cup of fried rice came out to $ 13.73 with out tip with tip $ 16.73. The wonton soup was very good with a lite not salty broth and delicate wontons. The spring rolls and chicken and vegetables were good. The atmosphere is white tablecloth and the service was friendly but a bit slow. I feel that I could have similar food at a number of take out places close to me at a price point of $ 6.50 or so. So I guess I paid a $ 10 premium for the atmosphere. If you add the 25% discount this lunch would have been $ 20. A lot for white tablecloths.

Good Chinese that has table cloth. A little pricy but very good food. Not your usual Chinese deal menu but never a bad meal that’s always good. They have a bar. Not cheaters bar. Check menu online. Clean and service is good. Also have private room(s). Plenty of FREE parking. Think valet parking on weekends.

I ate there tonight and had probably one of the best meals of my life. Restaurant has only gotten better since the — ahem — incident over the summer. Price is very reasonable and the staff is super friendly. Have been going for years and felt compelled to write-in due to some of these ridiculous reviews. I highly recommend the spare ribs — the meat falls right off the bone. Dumplings are very good, try the sampler. Honey shrimp walnuts are delicious, as well as the cashew chicken and general tso. The duck is great for people who enjoy that. Fried rice portion is ridiculous large and very take home-able. If I could offer one criticism, I wish the deserts were more«Asian”-styled. Consider the takeout as prices are actually a cheaper than in restaurant. I live in NYC and come here whenever I am home. I literally crave it.

We were so happy when Yang Ming opened again. The food is just delicious. The lobster special has a great taste and you are left wanting more. My husband had a beef dish that he just loved spicy ad very tasty as well. The soups are very good as well as all of the appetizers. Wish you well on your reopening.

Strange but some of the reviews I have read must not be eating at the same restaurant as me. I have been going to the place for years and seriously have NEVER had a bad meal. We always sit at the bar for a cocktail before being seated. Drinks are great and not expensive bartenders are very friendly as are most of the regulars you will find there. By the way you can eat at the bar. The menu is not your typical Chinese although if you wish you can order the«normal Chinese food». Service is usually good. I have brought many of my friends there for dinner and they always become patrons. When we go out as a family my kids always want to go to Yang Mings You don’t see too many children, but I do bring my grandkids once in a while and they are very nice to them, in no way annoyed that there are toddlers there.

It is hard to imagine an asian restaurant without flavorful food but if lack of flavor is what you want then this is the restaurant for you. The winter wine offering was bland and the chardonnay overly sweet The vegetables and shrimp in lemongrass sauce had. NO flavor and a thick sauce. The winter special branzini had no flavor except for salt and was a lump of fish on a plate with a small amount of winter vegetables in a separate plate NO presentation that could make it appetizing. Very few vegetarian options although they were able to accommodate allergies. The staff was very nice and was accommodating. Best part of the meal Overall not worth a second visit.

The food leaves a lot to be desired. My orange beef had too much breading. It had some good orange flavor but i just did not like the beef. It wasn’t tender and was too chewy. The mongolian lamb was overpriced and the portion way too small for something that cost $ 15. It lacked flavor and it just didn’t warrant the price. I’ve had way better food at Panda Express than here and at ¼ the price. I got strickly take out. Though it looks like a nice place on the inside. The food was a big let down. Too small portions and overpriced. If you like that, then this is you’re place.

Yangming is back! Saturday night, my friend and I arrived at 8 to a full parking lot — our first visit since the renovation. I like the new décor — still a bit sedate, but the new lighting and art add a welcome dash of modern. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The dumplings were tender and delicious. We shared elegantly plated, delicious dishes of steaming shrimp and Mongolian lamb. And the Tiramisu and Edelweiss were excellent. Manager Alan Huynh even took us on a tour of the kitchen — a showcase of gleaming stainless steel, freshly painted everything, and chefs in crisp white and black outfits. Highly recommended.

After reading the reviews of Yangming, I was expecting to be super-impressed…something akin to a more casual version of Susanna Foo. Overall, the experience was just… meh. The restaurant is large, with a full bar, and circular booths, regular booths, and tables. Overall, it’s a very nice atmosphere… upscale, but not pretentious. They have a full wine and drink list, as well as a regular menu and some specials. We ordered the lamb skewer, spicy pad thai, seafood combination in flower basket, crispy shrimp rolls, and a wonton soup. Overall, everything was just OK. Not bad, by any means, but not great, and certainly not up to the hype.

There are inevitably a lot of recent news reports about Yang Ming’s woes with their summer 2015 roach infestation. At time of writing the restaurant is closed to address these issues and plans to re-open. We’ll see how this impacts their business — what a shame. Personally I won’t be coming back but I’m not even judging Yang Ming on this issue. I wish them luck if people want to give them a 2nd chance after serving up insects in their food. I think they just got too way too complacent with their success. After being a big fan, I became soured on Yang Ming over the past couple of years by their total arrogance over weekend bookings where I’ve typically waited over an hour at times despite making a so called advance table reservation(see last paragraph to cut to the chase). I moved to the Philly suburbs 15 years ago and lived just up the road in Villanova. Yang Ming was always a great«special occasion» place for either dinner or a relaxed holiday lunch and I’ve enjoyed some memorable meals here. The main menu has typically remained pretty constant over the years but there has always been a seasonal or holiday menu that features some of their best«limited edition» items. Back around 2004 for example, it was the only Chinese restaurant in the entire area where I found ultra spicy Chongqing chicken outside of some business trips to Beijing. My go to place for that these days is Ping Pong in Devon, PA. Over the years Yang Ming was a truly exceptional Asian fusion Mainline restaurant and has probably been deserving of its 5 stars at times for good food and service. They packed ‘em in every night and that’s where my burning issue is with this place. It has rested on its laurels for way too long. The last few times I called them to reserve a table for 2 at 8.00, I’ve shown up 10 or 15 minutes before. On arriving at the stand, I’ve been asked to wait in the bar and have typically waited over an hour, usually with nowhere to sit and feeling like you were always«in the way» because it was so packed with others in the same situation. Why take table reservations if you don’t honor them Yang Ming? Maybe you just got way too greedy and lost all respect for your loyal customers. That’s not a great way to start a special dinner on a Saturday night so I’m done with you forever. Good luck winning back the trust.

Meh, a little overpriced for the quality of the food. I also thought the interior was a bit dated. This doesn’t take into account the recent news. I don’t know if I’d go back again. Parking lot is pretty tight too.

I’m sure we’ve all seen the roach story on the news by now. If the infestation was as bad as the reports said, I’m led to believe this has been going on for a while and wonder how many roaches have made their way into my food. Typically roach infestations don’t happen over night. Not sure if they will be reopening but I won’t miss this place if they don’t. I liked it the first time I had it but was disappointed every time I’d been there after that. Asked for white meat chicken(which was an option) and always got crappy dark every time so I guess they figured I wouldn’t notice the difference. Singapore style noodles were bland and didn’t have any shrimp. Service? Meh. Every time I ate there service felt half-hearted. The place always felt a little stuffy, maybe because of the area, and I never felt real welcome. Also, last time I was there, I saw a waiter drop an egg roll off a plate, pick it up off the floor, walk back into the kitchen and right back out with the plate which I assume held said egg roll. He probably thought no one was looking or saw, but I did. Not cool dude.

I have been coming here for years, and have typically been happy with the food and service. Until recently and the past few visits. Ordered two entrees, and they both came out immediately, literally in 5 min less. The orange chicken(orange beef but substituted for chicken) was just the general tso with some orange peel. The gunpowder shrimp was mediocre not up to par and had nectarines in it, which was a first. Perhaps this review, along with the recent press, will help get yang Ming back on track. Get the food back up to standards, the kitchen, and can’t hurt to update the décor. Quite frankly, the interior and exterior could use an overhaul.

Probably some of the best Chinese food I have ever eaten! When I know I am eating here, I feel like I am having such a treat. I usually order the beef, but I decided on the shrimp Pad Thai. Soooo… good! I always finish with the Mud Pie. If you have a chance, stop by and enjoy! Tell them I sent ya: o).

Better than hospital food is all I am going to say. My recent stay at Bryn Mawr Hospital had me looking outside for a decent meal, and who is across the street from me but Yangming. Yangming is a pretty decent for Asian cuisine, for the area this is probably tops for a good Chinese restaurant. A little over priced for the usual suspects in my opinion, but who am I to argue. I have had much better in Philadelphia where you are truly tasting an authentic Asian cuisine at a better price. For the suburbs, these guys are pretty good, seeing their closest competitor is in the Havertown area. Seeing I couldn’t get out of my bed I found me a few runners, meaning«I’ll buy if, you fly» runners. I even had runners to get me a decent cup of coffee, so I wouldn’t suffer with that mud they were slinging out. So with that out of the way I ordered a Sauteed Jumbo Lump Crab-cakes which was ok. What made it a little better is the basil they used mixed with a white wine and mustard types of sauce. Nice flavors again, with a side of lightly fried rice I had asked for made this enjoyable. Unfortunately I couldn’t get Sake delivered, some kind of policy yadda yadda, but in all this was a decent meal.

I’ve been going to Yangming since it opened, though now that I no longer live in Philadelphia, visits are limited to a few times a year. On this most recent trip, I managed to fit in two Yangming dinners, and both were excellent. The restaurant can get crowded and super bustling, but you never feel rushed, and the dining rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. The servers are friendly and attentive. At both meals, I started with their spare ribs, which are super meaty and falling off the bone tender. They give you a spicy mustard and duck sauce for dipping, but you don’t really need either, as the ribs are extremely flavorful on their own. Think of it a bit like Memphis and their dry rub, Chinese style. On to the main courses. One day, this was an expertly cooked, tender and meaty soft shell crab, in what I would call a Hoisin-esque sauce(but much more complex than that), accompanied by perfectly al dente snowpea pods. My parents had duck in a Pinot-based sauce that was tender and meaty. The second meal featured orange beef(yeah, we felt like going for a classic). That was tasty, though probably not the best version of that I’ve ever had. Along with that, we got a spicy fish special, which came breaded and without sauce(just lots of chopped up chilis). The fish was moist and tender inside, and apparently even reheated well the next day. To that second meal also add yummy Dan Dan noodles and a crab and cream cheese app that was a more delicate version of a Crab Rangoon. Desserts were a crème brûlée(Cappuccino, I believe) one night and their«mud pie,» a chocolate ice cream cake, the next. Both were excellent. Is Yangming the most authentic Chinese restaurant? Nope. I live in LA, and I know it’s nowhere near the San Gabriel Valley in terms of authenticity. Is it the cheapest? Nope again. But it consistently delivers an excellent experience on all levels, and that’s worth a lot.

I find it a little shocking that this was rated as the best Chinese restaurant in the US. The food is mediocre and overpriced. If you want overpriced Chinese food, Cin Cin, their sister restaurant, is actually better. The interior of the restaurant, however, is nice and the service was pretty good. They also have a banquet hall upstairs, and while we were there on a Sunday evening, there was a wedding happening upstairs. The lychee cocktail was a bit strong. The shumai and crab dumplings were not bad, although I’ve definitely have had better. I’ve also had better peking duck, which was a little dry and lacking flavor. They also wrap the duck in the wrappers for you, which I’d prefer to do myself. The pad thai was al dente and my fish hot pot had good flavor but the sauce was really gelatinous. My party of 6 did get a lot of food, but the total was $ 273, which is really pricey for sub-par Chinese food. Next time I’ll stick to Chinatown.

Recommande fortement! Enjoy!
