«Where’s the Beef!» About a year ago I wrote what some thought was a humorous but completely accurate review about a missing beef sandwich. I’m pleased to say that the beef appears to be back for good so these folks earned a star bump. In the intervening year I’ve twice ordered their beef signature sandwich and been pleased with the results. It was a good portion of savory juicy beef on a decent bun. You’ll need plenty of napkins which is the way it should be. The owner/chef John, really knows his way around a piece of meat. You’ll be killing your carnivore craving in a typical pub atmosphere. Dark and slightly beat up, it’s a place that’s easy to feel comfortable in. These folks are right on Lancaster Ave. so parking can sometimes be a challenge. Pro Tip– Steal a spot at the supermarket directly across the street. Nobody seems to care. So I’m upping my stars to three and if they keep it up they’re heading for four!

We stumbled upon this place while looking for a good burger joint… And we will surely be back! The service is great, friendly and comfortable. The atmosphere is made for kicking back and relaxing. The food was better than expected! The kellianne fries had fresh bacon, none of those fake bits. The French onion soup had extraordinary cheeses and a lovely sweet kick. The burger was huge and perfectly prepared. Even the salad had a great display. Complimentary popcorn and homemade chocolate chip cookies were the icing on the cake!

A decent bar. You know what your getting with this place. Not fancy, but solid. Bar staff are its greatest asset.

Beers are great. Burgers, not so much. I was really hoping for a great burger on Saturday, but was a little disappointed. Next time maybe I’ll try the carved beef that people rave about.

2.5 — I went here on a Saturday night and walked in to a whopping four customers in the place. I started with the potato skins, which were OK. They appeared to be the kind where the skin is deep fried, and then they just melt the cheese and bacon on. Then I got the burger and fries. Nice fries and good taste to the burger. But the burger seemed to be a frozen patty. Again while it had good taste, I expected a place that calls itself a «Beef House» would use premium beef.

4 big stars to my local bar! I’ve been coming here for years… and under several owners and names… but the Bryn Mawr Beef and Ale is my favorite of them all! I think this is due to the bond made with the hand carved beef, as well as the family that runs the place. Off the beaten path on 30, this place does not get the college crowds you will see at the Grog or Kelly’s a few blocks away. The crowd is more likely to be locals or folks getting off work nearby. Friendly, easygoing staff, good hand carved roast beef, roast pork, hot ham and cheese, good soups, pool table, darts, jukebox, plenty of HDTVs… and they even have someone play guitar now and then. Stop by on your next trip to the Acme!

Great place. Nice big bar with awesome service. This place is huge, tables around the bar area and a dining room. They know how to party too, so keep an eye out for one of their many special events. I used to live just down the road and these guys we’re always so good to us. Will be sure to visit as soon as we’re back in the area — miss you guys! Until then, cheers! You Unilocalers enjoy. And don’t mess it up, these are good people.

Trisha was extremely helpful, quick to serve and very amiable! I highly recommend the BBB Burger which is a double patty, 8 bacon strip, onion ring, bbq sauce mouthwatering bonanza! The draft selection was decent, I’m always a fan of a place that has dogfish head 60 minute or higher… What I like best about this place is that they have both a pool table and two dart boards(steel tipped, none of that electronic crap). They have plenty of Master chalk for the non-warped pool cue’s and a fresh block of hand chalk for your hands, which is an A+ in my book. My only qualm is that they could use some new darts… Those bad boys they have are strugglin’.

Very impressed overall! Food was good and prices were reasonable. Wings were great, couple of friends and myself split 50 wings and they were happy to give us several flavors. Teriyaki was the best! Original were good too but I prefer mine with a little more sauce. The hot hot were great but only because they weren’t dripping in sauce. I got the chili, piping hot in a crock with actual pulled beef no ground chuck to be found! My favorite, it’s how I make chili! Pool table and darts, although they need to figure out how to utilize the space better so both can be played at the same time comfortably. Football on a ton of large tvs! Some good beer selections, a few locals, what more could you ask for? Staff was friendly and helpful when ordering and figuring out the darts issue. Great times I cannot wait to return! SECONDTIMEBACKWASNOCHANGE, great food and friendly staff.

Stopped over at Tip O’Leary’s after helping a buddy of mine move into his new apartment and i must say this had to be one of the best bars Ive been to in a while. It doesn’t look like much from the road but when you enter there is a quiet atmosphere, it has a decent amount of seating around the bar and plenty of TV’s around it to watch whatever game is on. The selection of beers on tap was decent ranging from Guinness to Victory. They have great beer specials like the Miller bucket with 67oz minis for $ 7 which is pretty cool. And since they are directly located next to a Philly pretzel company there is always a box of pretzels in the back for any one to have! The food is what surprised me the most. Besides having a wide verity of choices from Calzones to Mexican Chicken Burritos, it seemed like you couldn’t go wrong since everything is decently portioned and delicious. The biggest hit seem to be the«Boxy’s». I would recommend Tip O’Leary’s to any one in the Bryn Mawr area that is looking to a quiet friendly place to grab an appetizer and a beer or have dinner.

I only had one quick lunch here, so I could go up or down here, but based on that Saturday quickie I will go back. The menu is pretty interesting. a couple bucks more than the same grub might be at other local taverns(Prime Rib sandwich at 11 and change, and 8 bucks for pierogis is no bargain unless they are spectacular.) Maybe they are, so I will have to not be so cheap and give them a shot. I went for the five buck cheese steak(a weekend special) not just to be cheap, but because you can judge a lot about a Philly tavern by the respect they show this venerable Philly treat. To my delight, the sammy was present hot off the grill, with some unique touches. For one, it was served on a fresh seeded roll(sesame.) I was surprised that it came from Amoroso who is not known for such a variety. Next, the whole deal was pressed like a Pannini or Cuban Sandwich which very lightly toasted the roll. I typically can’t stand toasted rolls on a cheese steak(pizza joints do this all the time) but this texture stayed chewy(like Cuban bread in Tampa.) I didn’t need to strain my jaw to chomp it down either. I’ll be back.
