I used to love this place so much, but unfortunately the last several times I’ve been in, the food has not been up to par. The guacamole is no longer fresh and has weird seasoning in it and I be stopped ordering it. Last time I went, my boyfriend ordered the meatloaf sandwich and got sick. After that, I was pretty done. This used to be a great spot, but unfortunately the quality of food is not what it used to be.

Pedro’s is a place that I will always remember about Brunswick. Happy hour includes their margaritas and it’s yummy. A little too strong but you get used to it. Chips and salsa is endless and the salsa is tasty. The food well not one time was I disappointed. I’m always ordering the sampler, but since I’m not a fan of the any potatoe skin, they substitute it for any other appetizer no charge(that’s a plus)! Great place to hang out with the family or unwinding with coworkers.

I had such an awful experience today that I felt like I should amend my previous three star review. To start off with, I ordered a sprite and when I took my first sip it was nothing but seltzer water — not a big deal, the syrup must have run out. I told the waitress when she came back and she gave me a blank look when I tried to explain and then said«so you want me to ask for a new one?» and gave me a super dirty look when I said«yes, please.» She completely ignored my husbands nearly empty beverage glass and walked away. Then… when she brought my dinner out(just a boring order of chicken fingers and fries), the plate was swimming in grease. I’m not exaggerating when I say the chicken fingers and steak fries had pools of oil on top of them… and then pools of oil underneath when I moved them. I wish I took a photo… A couple of the chicken pieces at least tasted good, but one piece had the oddest texture… My teeth kind of bounced off of it. Needless to say, I didn’t(couldn’t) eat much of my meal… I was terrified I’d get sick. Unfortunately, my husband was starving and decided to eat quite a bit of mine(in addition to his taco plate which was just fine) and he almost immediately became ill. He was hit with an AWFUL feeling in his stomach about ten minutes after we walked out the door.

Every Thanksgiving weekend we celebrate my daughter’s birthday here while visiting my family in Brunswick. We have enjoyed this tradition for the past 7 years and have always appreciated the consistency of this restaurant. The food and drinks(Irish, Mexican or otherwise) are all very good and, contrary to several of the reviews I have read, we have always enjoyed very good service. The only minor qualm I have about the place is that the ambience is a bit dark and dated. Of course, my aversion to the atmosphere might be based on the fact this spot used to be «Players» and that I just can’t purge the images of that place out of my mind.

I’m in LOVEEEE with this place! I can admit the entrance is a little intimidating… A rough stairwell that leads into what you would think is a basement… Surprise it’s a restaurant… And a great one! The atmosphere is always welcoming, the food is awesome! I recommend the nachos with any meal! You wouldn’t think an Irish and Mexican food would go well together, at Pedro’s they do! The service has always been on point, food served in a timely manner, and the prices are reasonable! We have been back a few times and have always been pleasantly satisfied. Some nights they have live entertainment so if your looking for quiet choose a different night.

The hubby and I wandered in here one Saturday while walking around Brunswick. Since we just moved to Topsham we wanted to explore a little. We were intrigued by a Irish Mexican place sharing a building with a German place. Moving recently from Florida, I missed having stores and little hole in the wall restaurants in the basements of buildings. It definitely is a eclectic little hole in the wall restaurant and it’s JUST what we were looking for. I ordered a margarita and my hubby a beer and we cheersed to our culinary adventure of the day. The margarita was strong. Not too strong but a good wake you up strength. The chips and salsa were really good. And I am kind of a chips and salsa snob. My husband ordered the minestrone soup with corned beef and a shepards pie. He loved them both and said the corned beef was an interesting addition to soup. I got the Chicken Fajita Wrap which promised to take the work out of the fajitas for you. It so delivered! It was just like a fresh sizzling fajita but already wrapped up for me. Delicious and super satisfying. The rice and beans on the side were decent but nothing special. I think this place is fun and makes some yummy food so we will definitely be back!

This is a good place to get a bite to eat, but over many experiences there have been a few things out of place. Food — 4 out of 5 Pretty solid. They make their own chips and salsa, both are delicious and free. Awesome. I get a bacon cheeseburger everytime and put chipotle sauce on it, and it’s always good. The chefs however don’t have a very good idea of what medium well is. My burger is always medium or well done, which I’m not too fickle about. The fries are excellent, seasoned perfectly and always cooked right. Service — 1 out of 5 The Achille’s heel of the establishment. My last trip consisted of a waitress who I shall leave unnamed that was inconsistent in her service. My table of 4 was waited on very little, yet the table of 6 next to us had constant service. This isn’t a rarity. If you want good service, be interesting. If the wait staff sees you an interesting person, they’ll divert all their attention to you. Décor — 4 out of 5 The whole Tex-Mex, underground brick building bar setting works. The food matches the setting perfectly. If you’re tall though, watch your head in places.

When you order the guac, try not to have the same look of horror and perplexity that I had.

A local person recommended this place(said he liked the meatloaf) and I forgot to check Unilocal before going in. The fish in the fish tacos were over seasoned and so salty(and I love salty), that I couldn’t eat the fish. The beans and rice were edible but lackluster. Salsa was just ok. The beer was good… Sunfish Summer Brew. I would not try this place again.

Always good food! Great service! But we do like to sit in the bar at the tall tables. We normally get the bartender as our waitress and she is great! Irish Mex is a strange sounding combo, yet as others have said, it works! Steak tips are great! Burgers are awesome! Worth a visit, very unique place down in the basement of an old building!

You wouldn’t think that an Irish/Tex-Mex fusion would really work out, but somehow Pedro O’Hara’s pulls it off… to an extent. 1) The Food & Drink: —- The food is always good, I’ve yet to be disappointed by what I’ve ordered. Beef is always cooked to order, and I’ve never found any trace of uncooked chicken. So: Automatic thumbs up! ~~ The chips and salsa you always get are quite delicious. I looove their salsa. It doesn’t lack flavor in favor of spice, and it’s just the right amount of «chunk» with the cut onions/peppers/tomatoes. It can tend to be a bit runnier than I’d prefer, but I’ll deal. ~~ Steak fries are always cooked well. They’re never soggy, but holy cats, they tend to over-salt them! I was tapping the fries on the side of the basket hoping to get some excess salt off of them, but to no avail… I was mighty thirsty after about 3 fries. ~~ The drinks, IMO, are kind of pricey for what you get, but I’m also what some people would call, «cheap.» — For cocktails, I’d be more apt to just go out to the grocery store, buy everything, and make about 20 drinks for much less than what restaurants charge. They’re perfectly fine otherwise. 2) The service: —- This is the biggest downfall at Pedrio’s. Everyone’s perfectly friendly for the most part, but they are quite slow. Even on slower evenings! My last visit, the boyfriend & I were the only ones not at the bar, yet we sat and waited about 15 minutes just to get our card run once our waitress brought our check. 15 minutes! We looked for her so we could ask her to run the card; however, she was no where in front of house, so we have no clue where she was. On busier nights, I can totally understand, yet when we’re the only table you’re with, 15 minutes is a little too much. So overall, I’d recommend Pedro’s for anyone who is wanting to try something new; just be forewarned that service can be kind of slow.

This concept(Irish + Tex-Mex) shouldn’t work, but somehow, it does. I’m a displaced Texan with very picky tastes when it comes to Mexican food, and while the straight-up Tex-Mex is only okay, it’s far better than most other options in the area. The chili is really good; it’s actually spicy, which is rare in Maine. The chips and salsa are terrible, but if they have the chili burrito, get that; it’s good.

Small little tucked place that I’m glad ran into. Downstairs bar/restaurant, average bar food but the burgers and chimp are very good. Chips and salsa are very good. Have sat at bar so can’t really comment on slow table service as other reviews mention. Troy was very helpful and welcomed us to Pedro’s and to Brunswick. Could because good little drinking hole, have been there 3x already so there doing something right… lol

What a surprise! Went up to Brunswick on the Downeaster with my girlfriend and happened upon the place. Walked downstairs to a really cool tucked away restaurant. We were greeted promptly for table service, but decided to sit at the bar. Troy gave us a rundown of the beers on tap and we were in business. Had a couple of Sea Dog brews and were treated to their homemade tortilla chips that were EXCEPTIONAL. The guy next to us had an amazing chicken sandwich. Great food. It seemed like there were a lot of locals there, but we felt right at home. Did not expect this place to be as cool as it was but out of all the really great places around Brunswick we went to, this place will be the first I go back to. Cheers!

It’s decent. Not bad, not epic. We had no problem with the service as other reviews had mentioned and Our waitress was very nice. We came for lunch on a weekday and it wasn’t very busy so maybe that’s why. All in all I might come back.

Pedro Ohara’s holds a special place in my heart because this was one of the first cool hangout’s my old High School buddy’s and I had. One cold winter while trudging around the streets of Brunswick we happened upon this very warm and welcoming place! The food was very good and staff were exceptionally friendly. I would highly suggest checking this place out.

There are two things you should do before going to Pedro’s. 1 — Make sure that you have a lot of time. 2 — Lower your expectations on service. Because the service is super slow and if you get a smile from the staff, you go straight to the store and buy a lottery ticket because it is your lucky day indeed! But the food is good. Too bad they don’t compliment it with good and fast service.

Food was fairly good once we got it… fish taco was excellent, but the chiicken chimi was not good at all. The service was absolutely awful however. It took at least 15 minutes to get drink refills. Waitress was very, very slow and unfriendly. Not sure I will be back again soon.
