Went there tonight(Sat. @ 4:30.) for the first and last time. Both dinners were tepid. I opted not to have mine re-heated. Why would food be served to us luke warm, IF it had been cooked fresh for us? Owner ended up taking ½ off of my dinner. It should have been free and he should have offered fee guacamole. He did not. I have been wanting to try this place since I saw it on the show with John McGivern. Glad I can check it off my to do list. I won’t go back. No reason to.

My friend took me here last night, she used to work here. Probably the best Mexican food I’ve ever had and for a great price! I had a steak burrito with refried beans, it was absolutely to die for. Will definitely come back.

I don’t understand how this place has 4 stars. So I was visiting the day before Christmas Eve & my boyfriend and I decided we wanted some tacos. Based off of the reviews on this place we decided to try them. When I called in to place a carry out order, the guy I spoke to gave me attitude for no reason. Any ways I don’t judge a place off of their service, but off of their food. When I got back to my place I noticed there was no plastic silver ware in my bag so I tried to let that go. Then when I go to open up the portions, They were the smallest portions ever. Now, I’m from Chicago & there we have one plate that could fill up two people anywhere you go, but whatever. When I tried the tacos they were so tasteless !!! Literally it looked like someone just threw some undercooked meat & dried up lettuce on there. AND the beans tasted like they were expired. NEVERAGAINAM I COMINGHERE. If I had a choice to give them no stars then I would give this place a ZERO!

Try the duck tacos!!! You won’t be disappointed. Comes with 2 tacos either on flour or corn tortillas with beans and rice. The rice was kinda dry but the tacos… wow!!! The restaurant is very small, so get there before the lunch rush comes in. There’s patio seating but too cold to hang out outside. The owner is very friendly and even gave us coupons to come back.

Just moved from TX and have been hunting good Mexican. This place has great food and amazing margaritas!!! It got four stars only because they don’t have homemade tortillas. Oh and make sure to order the quac!

A great small place for good Mexican food. The Flavors reminded me of the food straight out of Southern California! The rare Verde Sauce Enchilada is a must. Everything has authentic flavors.

I grew up in Southern California with access to some of the best Mexican food. Therefore, I am a Mexican food snob and Guacamole is one of my most favorite foods. I now live in Northern California and its slim pickings for good Guacamole. So when someone referred us to a Mexican restaurant in Wisconsin I was not too happy. I went in with a bad attitude. One of my co workers ordered the Guacamole and I hesitantly tasted it. I told her I was a Guacamole snob. It was absolutely delicious, it reminded me of how my mom makes it and how my favorite restaurant makes it. They also have Enchiladas with green sauce which is not always easy to find. Their enchiladas were great. They give you a lot of food too. I had to stop myself from eating it all because I know how I am and I would be in a food coma later. The place is very small. We were lucky that my group went to lunch late that day. When we got there, there was no place to sit. We were lucky that all the guys at the bar were just leaving. So it all worked out. Oh, and they don’t do separate checks from groups unless they have time. Luckily our server found the time to accommodate our need. Thanks for impressing the guacamole snob.

Everything was just so-so. Wasn’t very impressed. Outside patio is beautiful and nice for a good day. Guacamole is expensive for the tiny portion you get. Very small counter seating inside. Not good for a large group.

Food was fine but service was mediocre. Had the grilled mahi tacos which were good. Chips were so so. Guac was okay. Rice was clumpy. Beans okay. Issue was service — it was just me(first time visiting from out of town) — I sat myself at an open table and was given chips etc. Then 5 mins later was asked to give up my table to a party of 4 … okay I obliged, but was put at a small table facing a wooden fence. Another(proper) table opened up a few mins later but was not asked if I wanted to move there. That table remained unfilled rest of evening. Ordered my food and it came quickly. But waitress brought out bill while I was still eating — didn’t even ask if I wanted anything else or if I was ready for the bill … As I continued to eat she asked if I was ready to pay… I had to ask her to wait till I finished. Place was not that full and at least 1 hour till closing… don’t know if this is how they usually treat customers or if they’re just not happy serving brown people…

I really had a great meal. We ate our meal in the back patio area and the atmosphere was energetic. After a while there was a line for diners waiting to eat outside on a beautiful evening. I ordered the lamb burrito with red and green chili sauce. It was tasty and flavorful. I ordered a Mexican beer and it was not served at a cold enough temperature. I really enjoyed the tortilla chips which were covered with a dusting of a spicy mix. The salsa was a different taste. I think a previous review said it was smoky. I would agree with that. I don’t know the recipe but it tasted like it had some barbecue sauce incorporated in it. I was pleased with my service and the evening was enjoyable.

Food is great. Margaritas outstanding. Ate outside, quite quaint. I was caught off guard by the assorted black dress attire of the staff. The night I went, the hostess/owner had black shorty shorts on with a black skull t-shirt. Distracting as well as unprofessional.

Would give it a five if it were solely based on food. But there are a few reasons I dock them: They have a huge issue keeping good help. During the winter their cook to staff to table space ratio is good. But then when they triple their seating by adding in the patio they have a huge issue. Protip– if you don’t want to wait for a table in the summer, just sit inside. Their guacamole and margs are to die for. The margs are just simple lime juice triple sec and tequila and they are awesome. Everyone who goes to poco loco has their allegiance toward some type of meat. I’m team steak. I’m a fan f the steak burrito, it’s two fillets of steak and beans wrapped in a tortilla and covered with melted cheese and sauce. Must eat this with a fork and knife! Their steak tacos are also awesome. Service can be slow. They have issues keeping things in stock. I’ve been there and they’ve been out of guac. Like how, a Mexican place, out of guac?! I’ve also heard of them running out of margarita stuff.

Food is good. I had the Poco Lunch Plate and it was delicious, but my friend had the fish tacos and she wasn’t impressed… she said it was very bland. The salsa was not very good either, it was in a ketchup bottle like liquid, and it was tasteless. Also, the horchata was the worst I have ever had,(no cinnamon and very thick). The server was friendly, but very slow. There was only 1 server for 8 – 9 tables outside.

A coworker brought me here for lunch and said try the duck tacos. Holy crap they were good. There was some sort of maple taco sauce on there, and it was cooked perfectly. Fantastic. If you go when the patio is not open, seating is limited, so try to get there early for lunch, and with a small group. Unfortunately I haven’t been there when I’m not working so will have to get back to you on the margaritas. I did notice a nice tequila list though.

As the name suggests, it is very small – counter seating only. The food is terrific and worth a wait for seating. Chips are seasoned and delicious. Sour cream is homemade and had cilantro in it – very yummy.

They have lamb tacos… delicious lamb tacos! I mean seriously, have you ever had a lamb taco before? The fish taco of the day was also excellent. Both my husband and I were incredibly impressed with the selection and plan on visiting again and again.

Poco Loco has been a lunch staple for me for years. Great place to stop with a coworker and sit at the small taco bar for fresh and semi heathy Ameri-Mexican food. Don’t be mislead by the American spin, it still has more character than the new 10k sq ft Mexican restaurants that have popped around around the area. Small and basic menu, but fresh ingredients, homemade salsa and high quality Strauss lamb motivate me to stop in whenever I’m on the north shore. They have a really nice patio, but the inside is a one-waiter/server bar that serves 20 with no tables, giving it a unique and intimate(not romantic) feel. Note: contrary to the previous reviews, they do accept credit card.

Great for lunch and dinner! I work near here and have been here about 20 times for lunch and a few times for dinner and drinks. During the summer the back patio is open yet during the winter months it is a bit cozy inside with just around 15 spots for people to sit along the bar — there aren’t any tables inside, just bar space. The parking lot is rather small so during the busy times it gets hard to find a spot. When you see the place from the street, you don’t expect too much yet this place really delivers on the quality and authenticity of the food. They have good take out food that really is a pleaser for work lunches too. The salsa is a chipotle salsa that comes in old ketchup containers that you have to add onto the chips(chips cost $ 1). The rotate the taco of the day and is usually some kind of fish. They have Strauss lamb tacos that are absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend checking this out since it is one of the best areas to eat in this area.

When I walked into Poco Loco, my heart lit up. It’s authentic in calling itself a cantina. With only 20 or so bar-stools for seating(and a cute patio in the back during the summer), space is somewhat limited. If you get there around 6 or 630, you can definitely grab a seat. I would say Poco Loco appeals more to an adult taste. I remember coming here as a child and not enjoying the salsa because it has a Chipotle twang to it. Don’t get be wrong, the salsa is great, but thought I would mention it for those of you with kiddos. Sometimes that smokey flavor isn’t appreciated until a later age. I got the Chicken Mole. It was different than any Mole I’ve ever had– it was lighter in favor. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The rice and beans on the side were super flavorful. They really made the dish, along with the lettuce/crema combo on the side. Definitely add that to your tortilla. We had the flan for dessert. Honestly, I’m a flan lover(lived in Spain a short while) and this flan was sooooo goood!!! They also added a little bit of extra caramel on top, which never hurts. :) Everything we had was great quality, and all in this cute little package hidden away in Brown Deer. It’s also right along a bike trail, so feel free to bike here to make the meal taste that much better!
