I was shocked about that a lot of reviews are a four or five star because this place was just straight up awful. The waiter refilled my glass only once the entire meal. The waiter served our food separately then bringing the food all together, and was cold when we received it. I told the waiter that my s. o and I do not eat starch or carbs so what does the waiter bring us? A meal that is just noodles and 4 tiny bits of meat(the menu does not say it is a noodle entrée). The other food ordered only came with rice as a side. Not only that, the food tasteless and bland. When I politely brought this up to the waiter that he served us starch when we told him we do not eat starch he stated, «Yes. Yes. I know, but your plate would be empty otherwise». Really? So he admitted that he knew we wouldn’t eat the food when we originally ordered it, but assumed it would be okay since the plate would be filled? So to say the least, if you care about attentiveness, assertiveness, flavor, and hot food then I suggest you go elsewhere.

I purchased a groupon for this restaurant because it was nearby. When I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon the place was not crowded and we were greet promptly. The restaurant itself was spacious and plainly decorated. I didnt notice a grade in the window at the time I visited but the restaurant appeared to be fairly clean form what I could see. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. We started off with hummus(which I love) as an appetizer and it was great. The hummus was served with warm bread that was delicious and went great with the hummus. For our entrees we ordered lamb and chicken dishes(I Dont remember the exact name of each dish) which were also delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful. Overall, I had a pleasant meal and would definitley return again.

Very Good, Pleasantly Surprised We tried Uzbek Palace using a Groupon deal and happy about the entire experience. The restaurant itself is clean, well-lit, well-kept and attractive. The menu is a good selection of Uzbek and Turkish food. My wife and I had the Dorado grilled fish, lanb chops, grilled vegetables and feta cheese salad. The food was fresh, the portions large(we over-ordered) and everything tasted great. The restaurant staff was friendly and professional. We got a 50% off deal but will be returning to this restaurant, which is a convenient location on Coney Island Avenue near Kings HIghway. Will order less food next time.

this is purely based on delivery from seamless. their kebabs are good. my favorte is Adana. their lamb kebab is dry, it might be better if eaten at the restaurant but definitely overcooked for delivery. their bread, and i love turkish bread is ALSO dry. they need to step it up on the bread. heat it up, or wrap it in tin foil for delivery. the rice was undercooked once. big no no. it ruins everything when rice is undercooked and hard and the lamb is dry. service though is pretty on point and food comes hot.

I purchased a group on for this and honestly the food isn’t bad at all. Chicken kebab was really good and the pita bread amazing as always. I ate in better places but this restaurant can really become big if more people go. It’s a good kept secret.

Food was alright. Nothing special. My favorite dessert, Kunefe, was hard as rock. Very disappointing. The service was horrible. We would always have to wait longer than necessary and had to ask repeatedly for water, glasses, etc because they would always forget. Taci beyti outdoes them in every aspect and are a few blocks away.

Plov here is good. This is a benchmark of all Uzbek/Russian food. They make deliveries through Grubhub which is convenient. Snapples are also a must for me and this is also in stock, unfortunately served warm. Staff is young and English is definitely a 2nd language around here, I was able to converse in Russian, although waiters are mostly Uzbek speaking.

Delicious Food and Friendly Atmosphere. I went there for a dinner with my friends and tried some of the meals from the menu, amazing taste. If you are to eat delicious Uzbek food and different types of Shashlik, Uzbek Palace is the place.

I have purchased a Groupon deal for $ 30 for $ 60 worth of food. Going there, we did not have high expectations, but wanted to give it a try. And I am happy to say, I’m glad that we did! The food is delicious and the service is superb! We started off with the Achuchuk salad, which was okay. The grilled eggplant spread was fresh and delish! The fried pelmeni(dumplings) are yummy! Crispy on the outside but are busting with flavor and moisture from the inside. You can’t just have one, or two, or three… well, you won’t stop ’till the plate is empty. It’s great for sharing! For the main entrees we ordered sauteed lamb with vegetables over rice, grilled lamb chops over rice and lule kebab with french fries. Everything was simply delish and there was plenty to take home for another dinner! The service was fast, the waiter was very accommodating and very sweet. I wish I could remember his name! We will definitely be coming back! Thank You Uzbek Palace.

I had a terrible takeout experience here. First, their menu clearly advertises 20% when you order online at seamless or grubhub, so that is what I did. When I went to pay the restaurant said that it takes a few days for the 20% off to kick in. A few days later… nothing. I called and the restaurant told me that actually the 20% off is something that comes from grubhub and that they have nothing to do with the discount. After speaking with customer service at grubhub I was informed that the restaurant lied to me completely. The menu is completely false advertisement. Second, the food was awful. Everything was cold, oversalted and I was missing 3 items from my order. The restaurant didn’t care that not only was I charged for food I did not receive, but that also everything that they did give me went straight into the garbage. What a waste of time, money and energy — never again at this ill-mannered, rude and disgusting restaurant.

I have eaten at a lot of Uzbek and Turkish places. This is easily the best. Especially the salads were above and beyond. All the shishliks were amazing. Plov was great. Their oven was off, sadly. Next time I’ll be back for the lahmacun and pide.

We really liked this place. The food was great, so was the service. Everything was fresh and the portions were a generous size. The staff was helpful, friendly and very attentive. We will definitely be coming back!

Taking a break from our workday, we came across Uzbek Palace and we were very happy we did. First off, we were warmly greeted by the waiter who explained that the food was both Uzbek and Turkish. He’s from Uzbekistan and is a proud ambassador for that country’s food and culture. The beautiful embroidered dress on the wall, he pointed out, was a traditional wedding gown. Since we were new to Uzbek food, we were anxious to try it and let our waiter be our guide. He suggested that we start with the cheese dip. It was a creamy spread seasoned with dill that was served with plenty of fresh bread, something like pita meets focaccia. All too good to resist! Also, delicious was the rolled fried cheese dish. Fried and cheese — two great tastes that taste great together, so how can you go wrong? You’ll have to forget the weight watching for one meal! Our food sherpa/waiter recommended the falafel as an entrée and it was truly the best falafel I’ve ever had. The falafel balls(at least 8 of them!) were crisp on the outside, but still moist on the inside. So much better than the usual falafel offerings! There was so much(the plate also includes rice and salad), that I vowed not to eat it all. Of course, that vow didn’t last too long. It was too good not to finish! My friend reported that her lamb dish was excellent. She had plenty, but there was still enough to take home for dinner. Uzbek Palace is a great addition to the ethnic dining scene. The dining room is definitely a few notches above most with chairs covered in cloth and plenty of room between tables. Even the bathroom’s much nicer than many in NY restaurants! I’d definitely recommend Uzbek Palace for both the food and the hospitality! My scale didn’t appreciate the visit, but it was worth it! Note that the restaurant does include a 15% service charge in the bill. My guess is that this is done for foreign visitors who may not be accustomed to tipping. One last note is about people who turn their review into an essay on how they didn’t get everything for next to nothing with a Groupon. I’ve been there and it can be frustrating, but I think the best thing to do is realize you’re getting a lot of food for half the price. Sometimes places will put rules and the right thing to do is complain, but get over it after a while. Otherwise, you become every restaurant owner’s nightmare: the cheapos who aren’t happy with anything and spend their lives complaining on– and off-line. With that said, go and get some fried cheese rolls and falafel and enjoy!

We came with a Groupon deal. No one in my party was all that familiar with Russian or Turkish food, but we do have taste buds. Everyone enjoyed everything they tried: lentil soup, lagman soup, grape leaves, falafel, hummus, grilled eggplant salad, kebobs, grilled vegetables, chicken, tarragon soda, pear soda, Turkish coffee, black tea, baklava. Everything was made from obviously fresh ingredients, seasoned well and full of flavor. Uzbek Palace is a place where a vegetarian or vegan can find good options, and eat with omnivores without anyone feeling deprived. The appetizers and main dishes were generous portions, and we ended up taking a lot of food home. The décor is beautiful and the tables are comfortably spaced. The wait staff were pleasant and helpful. I want to come back on a Saturday when there’s a bellydancer.

This place is pretty weak. I was pretty surprised to find baba ganouish and hummus being served before the samsas and lagman came out. I guess it’s a turkish uzbek fusion type of spot. Because I was here for my uncle and cousin’s birthday, I got to try nearly everything. And nearly everything was disappointing. Not that it was bad, it just wasn’t as good as you could get nearly anywhere else. The texture of the lagman noodles was not good and the actual soup was weak. The mini-pelmeni soup was slightly better but still not enjoyable and the split-pea-lentil thing which tasted like something I would get at an Indian rest. was good but under-salted. I can skip the mediocrity of the potatoes and samsas and just say the shashlik was good. It was like 3.5 stars good and they had this interesting meat with fat shashlik that was superb. The fish was also well done. I just remembered we also had the plov and it was awful. The meat in it was good and so were the raisins but the rice had no flavor. Both my mom and grandma make significantly better plov. The turkish deserts were fantastic! Bottom line, the meat, fish and deserts are good but they’re not so good that I would ever come back.

If you are already in the area, I would suggest going next door to the real Turkish place. This place is trying too hard: it can’t decide whether it’s Turkish or Uzbeki, which was already a red flag for me when I came in(the menu has Turkish and Uzbeki dishes). The décor is nice, the waiters/waitresses are attentive more or less. Now, the food: Bread arrived after the appetizers, so I thought: great, they must be baking it, which is why it’s taking so long. But nooo, it was STALE. As in one-week old stale. And it was not free. The shepherd salad was average, didn’t like it that much. The lamb kebab was good. The liver cubes were good, but the portion was very small and I’ve had better. Overall, I thought it was overpriced and given the choice I would go to either Sahara or Tacis Beyti.

One of the newer Uzbeki/Middle Easter restaurants. Compared to some of the ones I’ve had in the past, their food is my least favorite. I had their Plov, was very unimpressed. The dish was uninspired, portion was small, the rice tasted undercooked and the dish had no flavor to it whatsoever; very dry and bland. The pieces of meat were tiny and few and far between. This place would be my last choice for this type of a cuisine.

Food review comes first. everything else may only be interesting for Groupon crowd :) — Crispy manti — appetizer — 4 rather small manti, fried. Overall fine, just a bit too oily and small for the price. — Steamed manti — meal —(why on earth would you have fried X as an appetizer and steamed X as a main course? beats me) — same 4 rather small manti, steamed. Better because not oily, but still too small for the price. — Plov, wedding style(whatever is meant by that) — not too much meat but tasty overall and good rice texture. I would order again. — Lamp chops(Turkish style) — not bad but mine were too dry. It’s a shame; otherwise it would’ve made a fine meal. — Lamb kebab(Uzbek) — decent; would order again. — Lamb kebab with bone(lamb ribs) — too much fat. Not sure if it was just a bad batch. — Fried lagman — a major YUCK. The lagman itself(a sort of pasta) was fine; it was fried with veggies, egg and some meat, the way some Chinese vermicelli dishes are done, but it was so greasy and parts of it were blackened, like someone forgot it on the stove… absolutely disgusting. — Tashkent style lamb — grilled pieces of lamb with some baked potatoes on the side — were tasty; smaller pieces were dry, but overall this dish is also something I’d order again. — Kazandibi — not overly sweet and thus seemed a nice dessert. The place is done very nicely, with white-clad chairs and white tablecloths and cozy lighting, so it has a restaurant feel, not a café or a quick-meal place. Our waitress was pleasant and accommodating, but… But. There is something about some businesses that makes them incompatible with Groupon. Why? The idea behind Groupon is, or should be, promoting a business. So, as an owner, you get to choose how much of your profit you are willing to sacrifice in order to bring in new customers. And, logically, you would be interested in processing everything very very very smoothly, so people would be awed and decide to come back as full-paying customers. Makes sense? I thought so. Read on… We come in, are greeted and seated, I show my Groupon. Everything goes well until I start ordering«Palace special»(lamb shoulder, $ 25.50). Waitress smiles apologetically and says, sorry, with Groupon you can only order an entrée up to $ 20. I say no, that’s not true. She apologizes again and says this is what the owner told the staff. Fine, I pull up the Groupon’s website on my cell and show her the deal page. She disappears in the back for a while, then comes back and says, owner says it’s ok now. Great, so I order; but this kinda raises a red flag… Another waitress comes by a few minutes later and, looking in my direction, loudly tells our waitress that no, «Palace special» is not available. Our waitress apologizes again and disappears in the back. Comes back few minutes later and says she checked with the cook this time, and it IS available, no problem. Weird, but ok… She brings our appetizers and, you guessed — says this time it’s for sure that I cannot have the Palace special. Why? Because — I quote — «Four people ordered it yesterday, so we are all out! Oh, and the cook says meat has to be marinated for a long time, so you can’t just order it and get it the same day, you need to call at least a day in advance.» …Wait, WHAT? #1, this is not exactly a Peking Duck. #2, there is nothing on the menu or on the website that says this dish has to be ordered in advance. #3, you have(supposedly) checked with BOTH the owner and the cook a few minutes prior, and they confirmed the dish can be prepared?! #4, what kind of a restaurant only has four portions of anything… WTF?! Someone(the owner?) just didn’t feel like making the dish, or giving it to a Groupon user, and finally ran out of excuses and had to revert to «no we don’t have it so there»… Ugh, ok, I gave up. The finale comes with our check, where I see we are charged for tea. I ask why, and get the same answer as in the beginning — the owner said that only soda is included with Groupon, and tea is more expensive. Again I pull up the Groupon page and show the part where is says, «Two drinks(up to a $ 3.75 value each)». She apologizes again, again disappears in the back, finally brings a correct bill. She got a good tip for her troubles, but I just seriously don’t understand what was going on at that place that day. The bottom line is, and here we come back to the idea of a Groupon — that so many things went wrong, and it was such a hassle, so why would I be returning? And it’s a shame, since I like Uzbek food and frequent places serving it, and this place is close to where I live. But such an attitude from owner/management, when one thing was promised on Groupon deal page and another is being told to staff, is inexcusable. Next thing you know, they will put one price on the menu, and another on your final bill… As a cherry on top, they add a 15% «service charge»(for a party of two) and expect a tip besides that :)
