I think I had an out of body experience while I was eating here. I took my visit to Los Hermanos very seriously. I don’t/hadn’t frequented bushwick often, so it was a big event for me. I knew exactly what I wanted when I arrived. It’s a very cool, super Brooklyn spot. It’s both a tortilla factory and a restaurant, so it’s essentially located inside a garage. For me, it makes the experience even cooler and more authentic, even though I’m eating tacos thousands of miles from Mexico. UM. The enchilada picada is one of the most delicious things that’s been in my mouth ever. It’s a perfect flavor combo, tons of avocado, amount of sour cream. And you NEED the enchilada meat which is the ‘spicy pork’ and SO good. I don’t even want to try anything else on the menu because I don’t think anything more delicious could exist. Please come here, bring your friends, grandparents, boss… Not sure it’s possible for anyone to dislike!

Downside: no toilet paper, paper towel or soap in bathrooms. Upside: Prices are amazing. It’s better to go here just cause of the money u save. Food is tasty and fresh tasting. If u like avocado, you are in luck.

This is the best place to get a cheap and testy taco.

Ok this unfortunate for me to be posting a one star — these guys work super hard and if I am going to review on the taste alone then yes they are delicious. However, their tortillas contain two types of parabens — which is disgusting to have as a preservative on food considering its a known carcinogen. Usually this is a preservative for shampoos — check out the packaging if you wish to go here, they sell their own tortillas(I regret not taking a pic of this when I had the chance). Beware of this food — unfortunately I will never come back.

I came here on a Friday night, the place was packed but the line was moving. The food was great and so was the price. Also, as most people said BYOB because all they have is water and soda. When you come in you place your order by writing it down on an index card and it’s cash only.

This place is really cheap, but the wait is much too long for what they’re making. Half an hour for three tacos? Bof. Also, the only taco worth having is the steak. The chicken and the chorizo and the pork were all pretty meh, and had the distinct taste of cafeteria mystery meat. At least the steak was browned a little bit and seasoned better so there was some textural contrast. I would not make a special trip to come out here, but if I were starving and my tastebuds were indifferent late at night, I wouldn’t rule this out.

By far, thee best authentic Mexican tacos I’ve ever had. My favorite is the regular steak taco. All the ingredients used to make these tacos are fresh and the taste is amazing. I end up craving these tacos almost every other week. The cheese and the cream cheese just hits the spot! Definitely recommend this place to everyone who LOVES tacos!

Most authentic tacoria I have been to in NYC. Great vibe, AWESOME food! Feels like you are in a tortilla factory in a small Mexican town.

Ive been coming to this place for 6 years and let me tell you, the building has changed, the neighborhood has changed, the patrons have changed, but the food has not. This is my GOTOTACOSPOT. I bring everyone here and everyone loves it. I will never stop coming here, EVER.

The food is probably worth 3 stars, but the vibe of the place deserves more. Since the first time I came here maybe 5 years ago didn’t change much, except it became more popular and crowded and you kind of loose the impression of eating in the garage of a tortilla factory. It’s simple and cheap.

I used to think this place was ok. Yet the other night my friends and I had a terrible taqueria take-out experience! Had a few friends over to celebrate my birthday and thought Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos would be a tasty and fast solution to our hunger, but they lost our order, lied about putting it in, then ignored us as we patiently stood there waiting, then flat-out refused to apologize for their incompetence. Let it be known, this was not a cultural misunderstanding. My friends stated our concerns to these folks in Spanish and English, even though the young lady behind the counter spoke English perfectly, and they were still indifferent to our plight. Granted we put in a relatively large order and it was a somewhat busy Friday night, but she told us 25 mins, much longer than they usually take and we waited over an hour. Meanwhile several people who came in behind us were served, finished eating, and walked out past us. After a while we brought this up to the counter person and she was unmoved. I even explained we were celebrating my birthday and had friends waiting for us and we were upset about the order taking so long; she just tilted her head. After several attempts to get an explanation this insensitive young lady still wouldn’t budge on an apology. Finally the food came up and of course we checked it thoroughly. We found an item paid for was missing. They offered to cook it but we just wanted out of there and requested our money back which they provided, HOWEVER, the final straw was they actually brought over the missing items as we were about to exit and rather than offering it to us the same counter person promptly threw it into the garbage on the side of us and walked away. Obviously things happen, but neglecting your customers unapologetically when you are clearly negligent is unacceptable. This place obviously believes it can treat people any old way and that’s probably why they collect their money up front. Btw, the food was mediocre — fresh, but with little flavor. I do not plan on returning.

I love this place! My husband and I saw it on an episode of Anthony Bourdain a few years ago and went to check it out right away. Since then it has grown from all the attention it received from the show but the food hasn’t changed one bit. It’s a family owned tortilla factory and you can actually find the tortillas in grocery stores around the city. The restaurant offers a small menu of tacos $ 2.50 ea., tostadas $ 2.50 ea., quesadillas $ 4.50 ea., tortas $ 4.50 ea. Taquitos(which are really just small tacos) and sopes. All with your choice of several different types of meat. I prefer the steak but I also sometimes order the chorizo. The portions are piled high with lettuce, cheese, tomato, avocado and crema(which is Mexican sour cream) YUM! We have eaten here regularly for the last few years and it gets pretty busy on the weekends now so go early or you won’t get a table because people tend to sit and drink and talk for a while at the tables available. They offer BYOB and there is a wine shop and grocery store(for beer) right around the corner. If it’s winter dress warm because it’s a real factory and offers no heat unless they are making tortillas and then it can warm up a little. If it’s summer it’s hot as fire in there though they do run fans. It’s all worth it!

I’m in love with this spot. The tacos are amazing, super affordable, and delicious. I’m also pretty partial to the quesadillas for their avocado addition. There’s usually a line, but it moves quickly. Plus it’s BYOB, so feel free to bring in a six-pack. The atmosphere is exactly what you should expect from a restaurant operating out of a tortilla factory — folding chairs and tables and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I do wish they were open later, but I’ll take what I can get. My favorite thing? EVERY time I’m here, there are people from the neighborhood eating here. The very least we can do as people that have gentrified the area is support businesses that can support the original residents of the neighborhood.

You get what you pay for. The food is cheap and not bad for be neighborhood. However, it doesn’t compare to taqueria Diana or Los tacos no. 1. It’s byob and good for groups. Also the salsa verde is a must for whatever you order. The tostadas are the size of an entire plate.

#I feel like this is one of the places that put Jefftown on the map when it was on Anthony Bourdain’s No Resverations. But is it good food? I love how it’s a nice hang out when the weather’s nice, that you can bring your own beer or liquor, that you can sit near some cute Bushwick chicks and pet a #cat …but is it good food? I’ve brought #out-of-town friends here a number of times and I don’t really know why.

I love tacos. It’s pretty hard to screw up tacos, but I think it’s rare to find those really amazing tacos. With so many good reviews, I expected much more. We got one of each kind and shared among a group. I tasted all of them and honestly, I couldn’t tell what was what because they seriously all tasted the same. We could just differentiate between red meat and white meat. Bland and dry. Even when I tried to eat it with only one tortilla, it was so dry that I felt like it was tough to swallow. I like my tacos juicy with whatever protein is in it, and usually some form of tomato/onions help, but no amount of lime juice or hot sauce was helping these. I’m surprised there are so many good reviews– I don’t get it. I guess there’s plenty of seating that makes it convenient?

I had three types of tacos regulares. Chorizo, chicken and steak. They were so good, so tasty, so savory. This place is a factory and don’t act surprised at the sights and sounds of a tortilla machine extracting out tortillas. Here is how my experience went down. 1.Go up to the counter, jot down your name, the menu items you want. 2. Sit and wait, it takes patience. 3. The waitress will shout out your name, with your order. 4.Enjoy…Nom, Nom, Nom, Nom. The place is spacious, but on late night weekends it gets filled with drunkards or extremely happy stumbley people. Your best bet is to go on a weeknight. Did I forget to mention that is BYOB. Although me and my lady did not BYOB, we were offered, and of course I never turn down free B’s. It gets four stars because I had tacos at places with generous amounts of meat, or maybe I am spoiled. Overall, Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos is cool in Los’ book, four stars for this Starr Street venue. So check them out.

Yes, there’s a lot of hype about this place. Yes, Anthony Bourdain has been here. Yes, it’s overrun with the hipsters of the local neighborhood. And yes, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. Thank god I live a ten minute walk away, because I’m pretty sure I’ll be back here every week. It’s just really good Mexican food with fresh ingredients in a low key, BYOB space. Ordering is simple– grab an index card at the counter, write down what you pant, hand it to the cashier, pay, and wait for them to call your name. Then, stuff your face. The fresh tortillas really lend to the flavor of the tacos, which may not be the best in the area, but are still really awesome. Even better are the quesadillas, which are made on these huge corn-patty like tortillas and stuffed to the brim with meat and other toppings– more like a quesadilla sandwich. If you’re missing something, the green sauce is also very good and won’t sear your mouth off if you’re sensitive to spicy foods. The atmosphere of eating in the factory itself is absolutely perfect for a low key dinner. Grab a 6-pack, find some friends, and just chillax.

I get why this place gets such high reviews — its cheap and byob. And the service is not bad either with a good amount of space. But I would say the food is just A-ok. It’s a good place to check out and hey, you may find this to be the greatest thing ever. I’ve definitely had better — for one, there is no spice and you really need to drown the tacos or whatever in hot sauce. When you do that it’s not too shabby. I will come back a few more times to reassess but been here twice now. That it is. For now.

Get Place. Great tacos. Very relaxed atmosphere. It’s a bit of a wait, but for the food you get– who can complain? I was a bit confused at first as to the motion of the line when ordering, and how the back eating area was connected to the ordering line, but considering the rest of the experience, I have to chalk that up to my own occasional idiocy. Very cool Brooklyn feel with some real sense of culture.
