No nonsense beer bar, with a lovely simplistic vibe. Don’t let the plain looking entrance put you off, the beers on tap here are imported gems which you’d be hard pushed to find elsewhere and there really is some variety for all! The food/snacks are slightly steeply priced, but hey, welcome to New York.

Classy beer joint in green point. When you’re ready to drop some money on a unique bottle of beer, this is the place to go. The lighting and mood is excellent for a second date, fyi.

Fantastic — we spent eight days in NYC and this was the only place we came back to repeatedly. The bar itself is great, service is excellent, and the prices are good considering the quality of what’s on offer. The beer itself is fantastic, everything I tried(and I tried far too much!) was great.

I really like Torst and I’m glad it’s in my neighborhood. I love their beer selection, in particular the sour beers. The bar food is yummy. One star less only because it’s sometimes difficult to get your order if the bar is busy. My patience has been tested at times.

On the 8th day God created TØRST. I’m not sure if the white marble counter is really stone or possibly a cartoon-esque formation of heavenly clouds that Jesus serves you dank brews on. Possibly both? Seriously though, this place is the pinnacle of craft beer bars. The tap list scrawls across the mirrors behind the bar. You’ll find a healthy selection of Evil Twin(obviously) and the breweries that produce Evil Twin. I visited on a cool day in early May, which meant stouts. Mostly because I love stouts and anytime I see a thermometer drop below 60 it’s cool enough to drink dark, heavy, brews. TØRST obliged. The bar is hard to find from the street. Look for a white storefront and door. Inside is a pleasing combination of dark wood and soft white colors. Early 2000’s R&B rounds out the ambiance. This is the perfect setting for casual afternoon or evening drinking. Do yourself a favor, order up a meat or cheese plate, round out the setting with light pickles, salty bread, and cured meats. Between Danish food and the beer selection your mouth probably isn’t ready for this much firepower, but let’s be honest, this place is all about putting you comfortably in over your head. If you’d like to try a beer beyond the already high bar set by what’s flowing from the taps, ask for the bottles and vintage list. It’s about the thickness of the New York Post and is far more fun to flip through. Whatever style of beer you desire, they’ve got an elite bottle of your preference down in their cellar. I was so lucky as to get to see the cellar. If it isn’t busy and you’re ordering off the vintage menu, think about asking if you can venture downstairs too. If you get that lucky, tip well you otherwise cheap son of a bitch. A must stop for any and every craft beer nerd.

The first thing you notice walking in here is a magnificent marble bar which with all of the taps shining brilliantly behind it, ready to dispense their sudsy goodness. They did an incredible job both practically and aesthetically with the design of the bar. The beer selection is top notch, maybe among the best in NYC. Any place that has a Rodenbach Grand Cru AND a Hilltop Farmstead in is a winner in my book. They had 4 taps dedicated to Evil Twin Brewing alone, which is incredible. A bit pricier and a slightly more pretentious than other beer bars but don’t let that dissuade you if you really want to try some of the best brews out there.

I feel like a kid in a candy store in this place. They’ve got around 20 beers on tap(and even more in bottles and cans!). Some of the beers are pretty unique and otherwise hard to find stateside. If you’re worried about being unfamiliar, tell the bartenders what you’re into and they’ll find something you’ll love. With so many options, it can be intimidating, but you won’t be disappointed. The ambiance is unbeatable for a beer bar. Minimalist, but casual. My favorite part is the taps — the beers are arranged from light to dark, and the wooden taps match the color of the beer! And if you’re curious about the little door in the back? It’s Luksus, the only Michelin starred restaurant that does a beer pairing instead of wine.

Another great beer bar in Greenpoint. It was hard to find at first since there was no prominent sign, but just their name beveled in to the marble on top of the entrance. The address is 615 anyway. Tørst’s interior looks very modern especially the marble countertop. It has 21 beers on tap. Almost half of them are from Evil Twin Brewing. So if you’re a fan of ETB, you should stop by. They also have some good selection of saisons. They do serve beer in three different sizes; 5, 8&14 oz.

We tried 3 beers: Other Half Street Green, Evil Twin Yang, and Evil Twin Even More Jesus. All served in tall stem glasses. We both enjoyed the Even More Jesus on draft more than the first time we drank it from a bottle — roastier tasting. I prefer IPAs and liked the Other Half Street Green more than the Evil Twin Yang because it was fruitier/citrusy while the DIPA was more bitter. There’s bar seating and regular seating. Clean bathrooms located downstairs.

Great selection of beer! They have some shelfies on tap, which is fine because it gives you a chance to try that beer you’ve always seen sitting there but never pulled the trigger. The cool part is the .rar selection they carry. I got to try some really great J. Wakefield stuff that blew me away. In addition to the great selection, the staff is super helpful and really knowledgeable, which is fantastic to a beer geek like me. I love it when I can ask about a beer and get some great tasting notes. This may sound pretentious, but when I’m spending $ 10 for 5 ounces, I want to know if it’s worth it. I can’t speak to the food because this was strictly a beer stop for me, but it smelled really good. A must stop for any beer geek.

Imagine IKEA installed a craft beer bar in one of their stores. Yeah you got it. Service was acceptable and prices were typical. Really nice selection of craft. If it was 1995 I’d be screaming from my rooftop but as time marches on and craft beer takes over its like a bunch of other places. If I’m in the neighborhood I’m stopping in or if I have strong desire to pretend I’m in a Norwegian spy thriller and I’m just about to poison the protagonist Hendrick using his one weakness extremely floral Ipa’s. Who are you too resist?

This was my first stop after my flight from JFK airport. Torst is an amazing place in Greenpoint for craft beer. A quick ride on the G train and a few blocks down, it was easy to miss Torst. Hint: there is no sign, so look hard. The place is rather small, but doesn’t disappoint. The décor is trendy and intimate. By that, I mean low lighting, mixed woods and an awesome hip hop playlist. The staff is attentive and offer great recommendations. I was lucky enough to enjoy the Double Galaxy and BeerBrunga. I want to specifically thank Mike who was gracious enough to personally send me a great google map of craft beer notables throughout NY. If you’re into beer, you gotta come here.

Wasn’t impressed by that spot. I know it’s amazing selection of beers and ciders. But customer service has to be good too if they want ppl to come back. I am sure they have a lot of regulars and bartender’s friends coming all the time but I don’t feel like coming back, this place is too laid back for me, when the bartender uses an «f» word in a conversation it’s a red flag, seems like a regular tavern or Irish pub . It looked better or Unilocal pictures than it was in real life.

Over 20 different types of beers on tap! Great for all by BEERLOVERS! Quite cute cause all the beers are served in wine glasses. I tried the Dino Smores, which is a stout made with graham flour, vanilla, marshmallow and cocao nibs. It’s tasted like a chocolate dessert. Dark, rich and creamy, I enjoyed it! My second beer was the gypsy tart, which is an American brown ale. It had a crispy, slightly hoppy and a delicious malted taste. I also took a few sips of my friend’s beer which was the stille nacht, a belgian pale ale. Good, but pricey. 8 oz. for $ 14. The next time I’m here I want to try the«Even More Jesus» stout. Based on the name, c’mon, how can you not be interested?(:

This craft beer bar has been on my list of places to see for a long time. When people talk about craft beer in NYC they mention Torst or Blind Tiger Ale House. We went to both this time around and Torst was not what we expected(not a bad thing) It was floor to ceiling in wood with mirrors behind above the taps to show what they had. Also, they had awesome bread to help soak everything up. We would go back if we were in the area. For more information and pictures check out our site:

Everything I imagined! This awesome establishment pours the best craft beer. This place is def for hardcore beer fanatics like myself. First let me start off by saying this place is beautiful, a white marble bar and wood accents. A lot of seating area and great music, perfect ambience to sit, talk, drink and savor, eat and have a great time with friends. I recommend sitting at the bar and speaking with the guy pouring the beer. He knows a lot about each one of the beers he’s pouring and he’s happy to talk to you about it! The beers are a bit expensive but is def worth it. Tørst is a place you must check out and savor the craft beers. I will def be coming back.

I have been lucky enough in my life to have traveled abroad a bit, and in the course of my travels I’ve found some pretty special places to enjoy craft beer, maybe none more so than the vaunted Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen. That place was tiny, cozy, friendly, and offered nothing but amazing beers, and I walked out thinking it would be hard to match the experience. Perhaps it’s not a coincidence that this place, which I deem to be Mikkeller Bar’s equal, is also run by a Danish brewing legend, Evil Twin. You could walk right by the place without giving it a second look, it’s practically camouflaged as an ordinary shop front and I don’t even remember seeing a sign. Inside the aesthetic is spartan and slightly unkempt, like it was built by a woodworking class that ended early without quite finishing the project. It’s small and intimate but can still seat a decent number of people, and at 2pm on a Saturday we definitely beat the rush, although by the time we left three hours later it was filling up. The bartenders are responsive without being overly engaging, although to be fair I went to the bar each time knowing exactly what I wanted, but I did hear them giving recommendations to those who were vacillating. The beer offerings are all outstanding, a mix of Evil Twin and some American and European breweries, with styles ranging all over the beer spectrum. I tasted a subtly fruity peach Berliner weisse, a spicy rye saison, a rich barrel-aged scotch ale, and a deep dark imperial stout, all unexpectedly complex and exciting. They enable my beer habit by offering 5-oz. tasting pours, letting me wander through their broad variety and still walk out under my own power and(moderately) coherent in my speech. This has got to rank as a worldwide beer Mecca, hands down. You can tell you’ve come across something special, more than just a bar, an experience you’re sharing with fellow travelers seeking enlightenment with each exquisite pour shining gold, amber, red, or black in your glass. If you love beer, if you want to love beer, even if you think you hate beer, after a visit here you’ll finally see what it’s all about.

Great spot to drop in for a drink in a beautiful setting with a great unique selection. I also love that you can order a certain size of drink if you are taking it easy. Also worth it to check out Luksus hidden in the back. Had an incredible Scandinavian meal here. Bring friends to impress them and introduce them to a GP staple that never lets down.

Well curated beer bar that looks like a dive but is far from it. Heavy on the Evil Twin brand since it’s owned by the brewers. But they have an amazing selection that’s constantly rotating. They have a huge bottle list but it’s a little on the pricey side but this is NYC. Still, this is not the kind of place you end up at by accident. I was there on a Thursday so it wasn’t that packed. Very low key. Bartenders were friendly & not off-putting as some craft beer bars can be. Other than complimentary self serve water I’m not sure if they have anything other than beer though but that’s all I drink. There have a Michelin star rated restaurant in back but I was just here to drink for my visit. I’d highly recommend any craft beer fan visit it if it isn’t already on your list!

They change beers several times a week as it seems. Decent selection — not the largest but satisfying. I was a wee disappointed they didn’t serve more Evil Twin. Calmer than many other places around. Small place but half empty on a Saturday evening. Just by the subway station Nassau Ave.

A huge beer nerd recommended to Torst to me before arriving in NYC, and I couldn’t believe my luck that it was actually local in Greenpoint. My only regret is that I didn’t check it out sooner! We had some time to kill on Sunday afternoon after brunch, so we headed to Torst to grab some beers. The place is was mostly empty, which was great for us. You can either grab a seat at the bar, or they have a ton of tiny tables that are pretty close together. Their beer list is A M A Z I N G. Of all four of the beers that I tried, all of them were out of this world. It seems like they only offer very high quality beers. I tried the St. Bretta by Crooked Stave and loved it. I also tried a taste of my boyfriend’s Imperial Doughnut Break by Evil Twin Brewing – the owner’s own – and it was awesome. It tasted like a breakfast dessert beer. I also tried the Magical Brettanomyces Tour #5 by Trinity Brewing Co., which I liked, but not as much as the first beer. The bartender was super knowledgeable and awesome. I remembered my friend saying something about Torst being connnected to Mikkeller, so I asked the bartender about it. He said the guy who owns Torst started Evil Twin Brewing and also Mikkeller in Denmark. If you love beer, you will absolutely love Torst!
