OMG … I came here on November 14th2015 around 10:30 pm. Upon my arrival, the most aggressive, disrespect and low class bouncer asked fir my ID. Although the the nice lady at the front was trying to search my bag at the same time, the bouncer asked me sarcastically how was my day and yes I answered back with an attitude and yet this gorilla looking individual is going to reply to his male friend saying«These chicks nowadays«rudely under his breath. It was an immediate turnoff being it’s my first time abd I was coming from all the way from Staten Island. The owner needs to get rid of him as he has no tact or class. The bartender was very polite. Thank God because I was contemplating on leaving after the rude bouncer. Drinks were reasonable at $ 8 per glass of moscato and house wine. Let me say the DJ N.O. sucked. He really gave himself the right name No. All he played was the typical trash trap music. He didn’t play enough of a variety. If you’re in your mid 20s to 30s you won’t really enjoy the music here or maybe it’s just that Saturday I attended with that wack DJ. People were smoking weed there… oh yes… at least the hookah didn’t disturb me. I found it odd most of the workers there including bartenders were smoking hookah. Hmmm. Not professional … never saw that ever. Guess it’s their thing. The dance floor is small. The crowd was really so so and I was surprised they allowed guys with jeans especially hanging off their ass. Ladies if you’re looking to find a nice guy to hang or converse with. Wrong place. Glad they didn’t charge an entry fee like some places. One thing I’ll say the owner worked hard all night getting the drinks, getting rid of the pot smokers and helping serving drinks. Meanwhile his cousin or nephew don’t remember the relation … think his name is Alfonso did nothing but smoke hookah all night and on his phone and he supposedly is a partner in the business. Upon the closing time which is around 4 am, the obnoxious Bouncer came in starting shouting and hollering telling everyone it’s time to leave and get their belongings. The tone he used is as if we were in Kindergarten and we were students. I found it to be rude and very unprofessional. I have never seen that in all my life and it’s not as of the lounge is in one of those rough neighborhoods. I never really enjoyed myself here and I was so looking forward to it but was greatly disappointed as I try my best to support black businesses. Don’t think I’ll go back anytime soon and to believe i read the reviews before attending but was mislead. The owner needs to do some cleaning up of his business if he wants it to last and generate real income.

This place was the highlight of our three day trip full of dancing and good times in NYC for my bachelorette last month! The Social Butterfly is low key, divey, clubby, flashy all rolled into one. Anything goes here, and that’s its charm. A dress is fine, but so are jeans and tee. It’s a neighborhood local spot, you won’t have to worry about cover and can expect a grown up, down-to-earth crowd! Two main reasons why our group of 9 had such a blast here: 1) Some of the best music around: old school hip hop, r&b! The DJ knew it was my bachelorette weekend and made sure we had good time with lots of shoutouts and dealing with our musical requests. I really enjoyed how the crowd seemed to celebrate right along with our group, rather than be annoyed that we were the center of attention that evening. 2) Cheap drinks and STRONG! The bartenders took very good care of us, and if you check in on Unilocal there’s a discount on drinks! If you’re looking for a super fun, high energy but low key divey dancing experience, this is a good look.

Its very convenient located on Atlantic Avenue, I had the opportunity to go in after the Nas/Maxwell concert on Valentine’s Day. It had been a long COLD day but I stayed in a loft across the street from this place and wasn’t finished dancing. Saw social butterfly and said hey«sounds like me» and zipped across to their front door. Now this isn’t the prettiest place or even the most up to date. You can tell from the patrons this is a local spot and has regulars. HOWEVER, those are my favorite places. I had wings while there that were PHENOMENAL — Drinks — Strong yet smooth and the staff were really attentive. I really appreciated that especially. The music was really good, but I like old R&B which is exactly what was playing and suited me fine. I would definitely visit again.

Been here twice and both times were pretty decent. The second time was even better. The DJ was on point and the manager provided more than stellar customer service. The food was way better than expected and the bartenders were on top of things.

Just needed a quick, easy, local place for a drink Thanksgiving Eve. I’ve passed this place a million times and figured why not? Security: very friendly, throughly checked my huge purse! Ambiance: ugghhhh! I didn’t even take off my coat, or sit down for fear there might be dried cum on the beat up bar stools!!! YUCK! INANDOUTINLESSTHAN2MINUTES. Bunch or dirty, pervy old heads! THANKSALBERT. Harsh would be the definition of what i REALLY would like to say in response to your comment. But it’s just far too much to address. Simply put, my review is based on my experience. Everything isn’t for everyone & Social Butterfly wasn’t for me and my friends.(You can’t please everyone) I certainly can’t make up the sticky bar, or the lurkish T-shirt wearing older gentleman, or the evil stares from the older women. How DARE I?(Clutching my pearls)

Every time i come here i have a great time. The bartenders are nice and even when its super crowded they never forget about you. The DJs change often but DJ Chill is THEBEST. The security guard Dave is the nicest bouncer I’ve ever met in life. Theres a mandatory coat check, which isnt surprising. The intimate setting would be ruined by a million winter jackets. Close to the A/C train lines. Definitely a regular spot!

Literally not how it is described online. Maximum 4 people in this bar on a Saturday night at12am. The bar tinder is not helpful. I would rate a 0 star if it was applicable. Do not go here. You will waste your time.

The atmosphere was dead this night, it may have been an off night. The bartender lacked efficiency. We waited over ten minutes to receive two drinks. We were also erroneously charged for a hookah. I informed the the bartender. She and another gentleman, who I assume is the manager, worked to «void» the incorrect charges. The bartender then informed me Social Butterfly does not take Bank of America, even though she had charged the BOA card for the wrong amount with no problem. The bartender explained Social Butterfly had problems with BOA cards being compromised. I presented her an American Express and requested a void of the BOA charge. The bartender confirmed the charge was voided. I later discovered, both charges went through and they never in fact voided the charge. I am not a fan of unscrupulous business practice and will not return.

I have been to Social Butterfly about four times and i can’t say i was ever really disappointed. My first time here was in 2012 and if I’m remembering clearly I paid $ 5.00 cover, this might had been owing to some promotion, i can’t quite remember but every time after that the cover was increased and my last visit was $ 20.00; a far cry from $ 5.00. Bouncers: They are usually pretty friendly, a bit flirtatious tho, oooh… This was probably because my first time there i got so wasted and grinded on him, uh huh yup that might had been it! Music: I have only been there on Saturday nights and there is always a live DJ and they are always spectacular. They are very interactive with the crowd, trying to get the ladies to do the most… The music is a mix of reggae, dance hall, hip hop, soca, r&b and i might have heard some Latin influence(reggaeton) possibly. When this place is in full swing around 1:00– 2:00 am, when all the fashionable late arrives, everyone is on their feet busting out. The music is definitely what keeps me going back. Drinks: are reasonably priced but definitely watered down, you need like five to start feeling something but there is always some promo where you get free shots or discounted drinks. One bartender tried to cheat me out of a deal and charged me full price and as soon as i was about to pay her the dj announced the promo, haha, she got busted, she said she had forgotten; Yea right! Atmosphere: usually a good mix of people, well when i say mix its seems to be dominantly Caribbean but equal parts mature(35+) and youngings(21 – 25). The space is pretty decent visually, enough room to dance especially if you get there early to get first dibs on the best real estate to bust a move or two to the banging dj. There are semi-circular seats with small tables in front of them, to one side and the other has bar stools with a small wooden table attached to the wall to place ur drink. Sometimes things can get a lil gh***o but what tha heck, fun none-the-less!!! It’s not for everyone but if you really like good caribbean music and hip hop definitely give it a try, you shouldn’t be disappointed, Oh… and the owner is usually around and he is super nice just incase you need anything. Ps: there usually seem to be adequate parking around!!!

Well I came to this place about 2 weeks on a Saturday and it was completely empty! We paid 10 bucks to get into a empty lounge that should of been free. sigh someone ordered chicken wings that looked type good… That’s all I got! wait oh yeah they still don’t know how to make rum punch… C’mon it’s BROOKLYN home of the west indians a simply rum punch will suffice… it’s also a lot of little girls by little girls I mean 21 year olds whores chicken noodle soup’ing on the empty dance floor(insert emoji here)

So I drove all the way over here to be rejected at the door because my friend wore a hoodie… Really!!! If you have a dress code it should be posted online not when you show up at the front door. The bouncer was also rude!!! Customers should not be turned away at the door!!! And since when your outfit define who you are!!! Disgusted

Vibes were love from the moment my small group arrived last Friday! Got there early & found a sexy/loungy bar feel w that ‘gonna explode when the crowd shows up’ vibe. Owner greeted us warmly upon walking in & quickly readied a table(our FIRST visit!) Then he had the nutrageously gorgeous servers taking care of us on the spot. Such old-skool respect & hospitality! Jokes well recieved w the equally sexy bartender & my group even got hooked up a lil(can’t say how tho!) The crowd started up around 12am– Bday party came in and the DJ set it off! Just like I thought, the dance floor packed up-and the Butterfly exploded! THEMUSIC!!! Sooooo good! BK repped well w all the old school hiphop & reggae dancehall-w some house gems & new style rap stuff for good measure. CC Peniston, Biggie(must do in BK), Mr Vegas? Feel me? Add to that a roaming Hookah vendor who sets u up w a mini Hookah(that wont take too much space on your table-dope!) and an attendant coming by every few minutes cleaning up after your plates(appetizers were great btw) & empty glasses-the drinks were fantastic as well! Try the watermelon joint! Bathroom was clean & modern as well. Partied all night w a young crowd-everyone keepin it grown & sexy. ‘Spread Love’ IS the Brooklyn Way! I love this place! From now on, when visiting Bed Stuy, im visiting the Butterfly!

I went here for a birthday party and was pleasantly surprised. 1) I was not expecting it to be as large as it was. It’s not the size of a full size club but it can hold a decent amount of people. 2) The music was really good! The DJ didn’t repeat any songs and everyone was up dancing for most of the night. 3) I wasn’t hassled upon entry. Usually clubs want to pat you down, strip search, fondle your breast and then make you bend over and touch your toes for a cavity search. I wasn’t overly searched but I did feel safe. 4) I paid $ 9 for a shot, which is a little expensive but I’m use to the drink prices in the city so I wasn’t shocked. 5) Bottles for $ 100 all night, although I was there for a birthday and this might have been a special for her party. Now on to the negative: I paid $ 20 to get in on a Sunday night. I was expecting to spend no more then $ 10. Overall: I want to return on a Saturday to see what the crowd /atmosphere is like.

2 stars for the nice vibe. Instrumental music was play until 1am; after that all night hip hop was played not even a little mix up. Then I was charge a 3 dollar mandatory coat check and 2 guys walked passed didn’t pay their cover or for their coats and they were not bouncers. Drinks are alright a bit light. Friendly staff though.

I did not like this place at all. We went there on a saturday night. There is a cover charge of 10 $ and a mandatory coat check 3 $ … The place is too small and average to be charging a cover amount. Like one of the reviewers said before they do scan your ID’s ! And search using a metal detector ! The bar tender was probably 22 ! And maybe bar tending for the first time … He was very inattentive and the same drink tasted different every time we ordered it ! I crowd was dull and just old … The place is not like the pictures on Unilocal, its a lot darker and dingy. Just not impressed. I can’t understand why 4 starts on Unilocal, maybe it was just a bad day?

Social Butterfly is the coolest, Trendiest spot in Clinton Hill. I had my wife’s Birthday there and OMG it was a day to remember. The hostess was great keep the glasses coming, keep the drink chasers coming every time we ran out, and the bottle service were very reasonable. I will be in the Butterfly for all my NY Knick game. Thank you,

I came from Target Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum. They offered free admission and 2 for 1 drinks. Its a very nice looking place with friendly bartenders, strong drinks and fans to fight the heat. The crowd was mixed, with all ages and races. I met a few people. I had a very good experience and will be coming back. But I lost my glasses and watch, thats how much fun I had. lol Lesson learned, dont go crazy or wear minimal stuff.
