Burrito was large but totally flavorless and 80% rice. I cut it in half & had a hard time finding the meat, much less anything else like lettuce or beans. It was also super dry. Even worse, they overcharged me & they agreed they did, but would *not* refund the difference. Is that even legal? It wasn’t much money, but it’s about ethics & treating your customers fairly. If they’d offered to refund the overpayment I would have told them to keep it. But since they refused to give me the money back I won’t ever be back.

I love this place! My boyfriend and I come here pretty often, and the food is always great. It’s super cheap and the service is quick. When they aren’t busy, they give free chips and salsa. Not every time, though, which I haven’t quite figured out. Overall, I highly recommend!

Have come by a few times and this place is great. Authentic Mexican tacos a la their street fair. Super service, super quick, and delicious! Got their chorizo and carne asade tacos today and hit the spot. Recommended!

FLAVORTASTIC! Come hungry, leave happy! Hubs got VERY sick from bistec dish(humongous burrito, almost unfathomable.) My Chicken dishes(Enchiladas and quesadilla were good.) Don’t know what happened but the next 3 days for my husband was no laughing matter. Everything was assembled in front and seemed fresh. You get MORETHANENOUGH food, especially the burritos, which look like a triathletes’ hamstring, after it’s rolled. You can customize your order just the way you like it. This place is a quiet gem, which is also a local and native favorite. Very casual.

Don’t do it to yourself. We ordered breakfast on Saturday morning right when they opened at 11am. At about noon a woman calls my husband’s cell phone saying«delivery?» He says yes, and tells her what apartment number to ring. No one rings the bell so he goes downstairs and the hallway/street outside is empty. He calls the woman back and asks about the order, to which her response is «I gave it to you!» Um, no. No you didn’t or I wouldn’t be calling you… seriously?! She hangs up and we call the restaurant. The smug«manager»(if you can even call him that) answers the phone and has the nerve to say«well she must have given it to your roommate» — what the F*%$?! My husband and I were sitting next to each other on the couch, do not have a roommate, and clearly did not get the food we ordered. Did he expect us to knock on every door in our building because their incompetent delivery person cannot figure out a simple address?!(Sidenote — we had ordered from here before so it’s clearly not an issue with our address). The guy hangs up on my husband, and when I call back he starts screaming at me and tells me he’s «not dealing with this»(great customer service btw) and hangs up on me as well. I call back and a woman answers the phone telling me that she cannot help me, I have to call seamless to cancel my order. What is wrong with people?! There are 100s of delicious Mexican restaurants in Brooklyn, don’t waste your time with this one. I sure won’t anymore.

Y’all have got to be kidding when you say you love this place. Everything seems like a 12 year old in the suburbs made it in the microwave after googling«Mexican food» for the first time.

«Next!!!» I came here because someone mentioned that this place was rated as having one of the top 12 tacos in NYC by some magazine. I can definitely say that I have experienced waaayy better tacos from various food trucks in Jackson Heights. Hell, I have experienced waayyy better tacos in my kitchen. I ordered the Al Pastor and Carnitas tacos and I have to say that I was very disappointed because the tacos were waaaayyyy too greasy and the carnitas had more fat than pork. Also, the tortilla chips were super greasy and the salsa really was watered down tomato paste. Maybe the place was having an off night, because I did not find anything redeeming about this place or which it would have decent reviews on Unilocal. One the other side of the coin, the service was crap too. I do not know which was worse our service or the food. Our waitress seemed very uninterested in serving us and it seemed like she has a bad attitude in life. We would order the food and she did not make any eye contact, so I did not know if she even heard order. It turns out that she did not hear the order because I had to repeat myself. Sorry for«making» you do your job, sweetheart. If your food is going to be a struggle, then maybe the service should not be a struggle too. Just a thought. Normally, many hole in the wall places manage to turn out great food but I will have to say Taqueria El Fogon is not one of those places. Maybe the other Taqueria El Fogon is better. I would say that the only redeeming factors of this place is: 1) the food is cheap(tacos are about $ 2.50) and 2) they show American movies dubbed in Spanish(we had the viewing pleasure of «21 Jumpstreet»).

Best tacos in Brooklyn!!! No seriously, these are the best tacos I know of, no Tex-Mex bs, just straight up Mexico City style tacos. All the Mexican beer you can imagine, 12 ounces & tallboys! Super zesty micheladas & creamy horchata. Try the tacos al pastor & chile relleno! The price is right!!!

You need more than one server especially on a Saturday night! The queso we ordered was the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. It was like the waiter had put a handful of shredded cheese in a bowl and microwaved it for too long. Every time we tried to «dip» our chips in the«queso» the chips broke in half. The waiter took too long to make our drinks and seemed to forget the most crucial part of any margarita, the tequila. And they were also $ 9, come on! This was straight sugar water people. The entrée’s left much to be desired… no fresh ingredients were used. Would have rather gone to taco bell.

Oh my goodness I’m extremely disappointed each time I give them another chance and order I regret. The pork, beef and tripe and had no seasoning. The tacos came with no addition of cheese, crema, lettuce tomatoes etc they were all dry as hell and tasted terrible!!! What a way to end my night I guess I’ll eat cereal for dinner.

Really great food. My wife And I enjoyed it. She ordered the chicken nachos really delicious with they wouldve put some jalapeños. I ordered the sopes al pastor. I have to say the best ive had. 3 sopes per order. I also had the Michelada really hit the spot. The guy that attended us was really cool. The location was very clean and spacious. The lady that was preparing the food was efficient and knew what she was doing. Will definitely go again and recommend them

Decent food but poor service. It was my first time there. Went with a friend that praised the place but we had a cont(substitute a different vowel here) of a waitress that refused to provide the free chips and salsa appetizer, discouraged me from having a cocktail to something simple for her to get(beer), and never came by to check up on us. With us being the only customers in the restaurant, my friend had to go up to get the check to hear«just one minute», and five minutes of waiting for nothing, she decides to do something. This is the only time gentrification is good for something as that place probably won’t last many years with the growth of Bushwick pushing places like that out.

Ordered two Carnitas Tacos after perusing the racks at Urban Jungle. The tacos weren’t anything special and to be quite frank could’ve saved my $ 6. Last time I was here, I mentioned the lack of salt on the pork and again no seasoning. The addition of cheese, crema, lettuce tomatoes and hot sauce(which I added myself), masks the fact that the pork has no seasoning on it. However, seasoning isn’t my complaint today. It’s the blobs and blobs of pork fat and barely any meat(I counted two pieces in each taco) that’s my issue with my tacos today. Again, last time I said there were bits and bits of pork fat. Today, guess the cook decided to just give me all pork fat. Needless to say, I had a «vegetarian» taco because I dumped out all pork fat. If I’m in the area, I will not return for any tacos. I’ll return to redeem my check in offer. But at this point it doesn’t even matter.

It pains me to write this review, because I’ve actually been eating here for a few years, and really enjoy the food(I’m not from California, and I know what real, good Mexican food tastes like, not that gringo fresh-mex BS). But after my experience tonight, I’m never giving them my money again. I ordered a burrito and some chips at around 8:30 from seamless, and got a quoted delivery time of 45 – 60 mins. Cool. I sit back with a movie. 9:30 comes and goes, but I just shrug and think«maybe they got busy». It’s cool, I can wait. 10 o’clock rolls around and now I’m hungry, so I call the restaurant and tell them I placed a order through seamless at 8:30. A woman on the other end tells me to hold on, I hear her talking to some guy in the background, and then she gets back on the line and just says the driver is out for delivery, and they got busy. OK, fine. I go back to waiting. Clock inches up on 10:30. Now I’m getting irritated. I call again, get the same exact response. Two hours to deliver a burrito from a place I could walk to in less than 30 mins. I get no explanation out of the woman, and eventually tell them thanks for nothing and hang up. I’m looking on seamless for how to cancel my order when I get the delivery call. Guy shows up, clearly not the regular delivery dude(well-dressed guy with a car, not a dude on a bicycle or scooter). He really tersely drops the food off and starts to head back. I ask him if the food is even still warm, since it was suppose to be here an hour ago(I won’t lie, I was obviously annoyed when I said this). He gives me a boatload of attitude, says he’s in the car(I don’t know why that’s important) and that he has like 10 orders. I mean obviously, something is going on with the restaurant, and shit happens, I know. That’s fine, and I would’ve let it go without a second thought if the guy had just been polite and even mumbled«thanks for waiting», but instead I got treated like an a$$hole for being annoyed that my food took two hours to get to my apt. Anyway, he snaps that I can feel it through the bag if I want and turns around to go stomp off to his car, and I’ve had enough. I’m not proud of it, but I did tell him«thanks, @$$hole!» and slammed the door. Heard him yelling something after me, but whatever. I feel kind of bad for it, but being rude to a customer when your restaurant has royally fucked up is absolutely unacceptable. They won’t be getting any of my money again.

Good spot for lunch — tacos are good, cheap, and they have a lot of choices — dibs on a tripe! Lots of cilantro, lime and radishes on a side — oh, so good! Guacamole with chips were decent as well. It never too busy at lunch time, so you can grab a seat, relax, and enjoy your food. Service can be a bit slow — but if you in a hurry, you can order though seamless. (Some days I don’t want to rush through my meal tho) There is plenty of seating — and I really liked those wooden tables and chairs. This is their second location, it’s just a block form Flushing Ave, on Cook.

Hip bushwick is awash with industrial warehouses housing young cool kids, and with enough bars and restaurants to sustain them. No 7−11s, no fast-food and nary a gas station makes it a kind of Indy boys Venice with it’s colorful and playful grafitti murals spiriting partying peds. When a guy recommended El Fogon, being from Texas, I had zero expectations, remembering how in the 80’s we were thankful to have only the more blah California mex«Bennies Burritos» in the Village. The wood carved décor and almost double wide trailer ambiance of the place was drafty without hardly a Mexican patron in sight.(The two coconuts didn’t count.) Upon first glance of the menu, and recalling the mention of Tortas, I saw the immediate appeal — cheap and filling sandwiches. All for $ 6 — it was sure slacker grub. Service was slow. Chips were not warm, a not total bomb, but a lean toward the tourist department. Salsa was Latin approved with flavor and a little kick, and when my huge chicken mole enchilada plate(around $ 13) came out I was completely satisfied and suprised. A taqueria in New York seems so anathemic, where $ 7 halal lamb bowls and $ 1 pizza slices rule the economy meal category. Yet this Mexican food certainly worked some magic for a homesick Texan. The mole wasn’t gourmet but it was fresh flavorful and hit the spot. The space isn’t totally comfortable somehow — I was freezing my butt off — and I think I got beef instead of chicken, and the chips took forever to come out — but the food is good taqueria food, especially for this area of Brooklyn.

I wanted to like this place so badly because the lengua tacos were amazing. However, the tripe tacos were way overcooked, pretty much burned actually. And the Mexican hangover special for two had two pieces of hair(see picture) so far. First hair was I like aiiiite it happens but the second one I was completely disgusted and had to stop eating.

I ordered the chicken taco. I was not super satisfy with my choice. The order came pretty fast. Probably because I was the 2nd person there. I wish the chicken was softer and not as dry. It was $ 3.25 if you ordered the special which comes with lettuce & pico de gallo. I also wanted to try order the tripe taco but they were out of supply. I like the location and the space, servers ware nice as well.

I’ve been here a few times over the years and the customer service is always super friendly. Their prices are reasonable and the food comes fast. They have a good amount of vegetarian options on the menu and they were happy to make some substitutions for me to make items vegan, including making me some squash blossom flour tacos, even though that item isn’t on the menu. The chips and guac are pretty good, though I prefer guac with some more punch to it.
