Croissants were too crunchy and hard for my liking. Coffee is alright but played up a bit too much.

One of my favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood. But the new barista guy always play metal/heavy music very loudly. I was wondering if that kind of music suit the coffee shop. It is so annoying. I only sat there 5 minutes and left. I was no wonder why there were not much customer on his day working.

So surprised to see all the bad reviews about the service here. Yeah, they don’t treat you like a visiting sultan but they sell you good coffee. Pretty simple. Music is a bit loud but at least it isn’t the same drivel as you hear at starbucks and the like. Good place to go into laptop mode since there’s ample table and bar seating. The iced rocket fuel is nice but I’m generally a drip coffee guy. Dunno if this is just me but I swear that the hot drip coffee packs mad caffeine.

Moment I walked in, I had like 20 pairs of eyes on me, both customers and staff. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t my «presence.» I also later checked if I had my skirt stuffed into my underpants or something. Nope. Never seen an Asian in this part of town? Maybe I should have broken out in a rap medley– cuz I sure had the crowd’s full attention. Didn’t know where their menu was displayed, so asked if they had cold brew. The cashier looked blank, then mumbled something along the lines of «mixed drinks.» I managed to get the Rocket Fuel cold brew. The coffee was splendid. On fleek. Knocking off a star because of service. Service on par with other reviewers– mediocre at best. Seemed pretty disengaged with the café.

Love this chill and hipster coffee place. Their rocket fuel(iced coffee) is amazing, nice and strong, though their pastries and baked goods are very average. The staff is inconsistent. I asked about recommanding their beans but it seems some of the staff does not know too much about them.

Good coffee, peculiar service. No need to deal with microagressions when you are paying 5 bucks for a latte. I asked to add an extra ingredient(nutmeg) in my latte, but he let me waiting, playing aloof, then, he just tell me: ‘We don’t have any sweetie.‘ Sadly, I just saw him adding nutmeg to the previous coffee order when I was in line. Lazy? Microaggression? I suppose black-arab-looking latino customers don’t deserve nutmeg in their coffees.

I agree with everyone who wrote about the beautiful space. I also echo the comments about the loud music, inconsistent service, burnt coffee and most of all slow service. Like a bad relationship, I stuck around and felt beholden to this place because it’s around the corner from where I live and it’s good looking– so coming here daily, I routinely hoped that something would change, maybe for once my drink would be on time, or they would offer me a complimentary drink(like my roommate every time she buys a bag of beans(I buy one every other week!!) or maybe the lady who makes the drinks would also add a lotus to her crappy designs AND not burn my cappuccino– as she does… every.single.time… I also wouldn’t mind it if they had punch cards on a regular basis since I’m a regular customer– I held out for as long as possible. On rare occasion my wishes came true– coming back again and again, only be let down by the same bad attitude and terrible service– so what if the coffee was okay?! Until yesterday, when things got really really real and my experience was just terrible– so decisively, I am breaking up with them. It feels mutual– they never acted like my business mattered in the first place. So hopefully I’m never coming back. I’d rather go across the way to homecoming– where the baristas knew me by name and knew my drink of choice and weren’t too cool for school and were always professional and friendly! Where customer service actually means what it’s meant to. Signed, scorned lover. of coffee

After moving from Seattle and struggling to find great coffee here in NYC, I found this gem. They are passionate about what they do and it is a great comfy space with plenty of room to work. This has made NY feel more comfortable to me since moving here.

I really like this café. The lattes are excellent. Pastries are on the healthy side, you won’t find donuts or bagels here. All the baristas are very sweet and the service is good. It does get crowded and you might have to share the couch with someone once in a while, but generally you can find a comfortable spot to enjoy your drink. Wi-fi is excellent. Perfect place for reading the morning paper or having a cup of coffee in the afternoon. This is by far their nicest location.

If you know me you know I like music sometimes but also it should be good music and things happen that aren’t good music at sweatleaf on freeman that sound like vh12003 on Sunday smorning with no fun and people that sound like buying a blanket which would be good if it were for naps and not photo shoots of third rate Bön ivers + neko case imitators but ok coffee is chill and vibes are neat otherwise I’d rather just listen to nico who who would be nice to hear a little more and now it’s like folk rap — I’m from Michigan where that is popular. I do like ryan Adams Taylor swift album but also I like Taylor and she would be better to hear right now.

Being in Greenpoint, I had to visit Sweetleaf as a friend of mine had recommended it. It is quite noticeable from the street as it has the big words«Sweetleaf» on the side of this hipster, brick garage. Ample street parking. The atmosphere is great with bar seating, plenty of small tables, a bench, and a larger table that can fit up to 8 – 10 people. The music here is a little loud, but if you’re the type not to be bother by it, it shouldn’t be an issue. It’s a great hang out spot to meet friends or to do work on a laptop(which almost everyone here is on). During warmer days, they open the front garage door for more outdoor seating. As far as I know, you can order one thing and stay as long as you want. Free wifi as well. They have different drip coffees available, cold brews, teas, as well as iced drinks. I ordered the Ethiopian drip coffee and it’s great — it has a sort of tea taste to the coffee(which is maybe why they named the place«sweetleaf.») Price of coffee is typical of a shop like this. You can get a med coffee for $ 2.50. I heard the rocket fuel is a must so I’m going to order that in a bit. Overall, great chill place to study, do work, or hang out with a friend. Quality coffee. Haven’t had a problem with the staff as per the other reviews. Not disappointed and definitely recommend!

I was beyond devastated when champion closed. It took them a second to get into the swing of things, but now sweetleaf is a phenomenally curated experience. Most importantly, the baristas are talented, warm, and friendly. They know how to make a phenomenal espresso and are super attentive in crafting it, so the espresso doesn’t turn acidic nor does the milk burn your mouth. The space itself is brilliantly clean, well pieced together & perfectly lit. The aesthetic and design is clearly inspired and may piqué your curiosity. Recently, it seems they added more tables and chairs for working. Awesome. Sweetleaf is doing well as a tiny chain for a reason. I’m quite the coffee connoisseur. My dad raised me around great beans and brews and sometimes when things aren’t perfect, I like my coffees to be remade. If for any reason a drink ever needs to be remade(and I have absurdly high standards) — the crew there is super helpful and friendly(unlike me and my friends’ nightmare experiences at neighbor coffee shop Propeller) and actually care about making your coffee right/delicious. It’s amazing what a little positivity does to a place. Furthermore, they even know how to do tea the way it was meant to be made. I never thought I could be turned on to tea, but their London fog is seriously the best tea I’ve had since my aunt made me English breakfast for tea time as a teen. A friend of mine was indulging in some earl grey and I tried it out: my mouth nearly exploded in joygasm. It’s now my go to drinky drink. I feel like I’m being a little redundant but after nightmare coffee experiences at propeller, I can’t speak highly enough of the people who work here. They are so skilled, dedicated, and have such good energy: quite the trifecta of brilliance. If you’re going to do something, you may as well be the best at it. Sweetleaf is tremendous. Thanks for existing.

This location is huge(especially compared to most other LIC Sweetleaf locations and other local coffeeshops) but when I went on a weekday late afternoon, almost every seat was full with folks typing away on their laptops. Some had finished their drinks a long time ago, but Sweetleaf doesn’t force you to buy a new item or anything. I’ve had their iced coffee and espresso drinks at the LIC locations, but was already pretty well caffeinated and gave the strawberry iced tea a try. Needless to say, it was delicious. I ended up sipping on it for a long time in the couch seat I had procured and charged my work tablet, so I guess I can feel the appeal of staying put here. Service was friendly and fast enough. If I have to kill some time in Greenpoint again, I’d definitely stop in.

We loved this place as a hangout spot. Not sure how long it’s been here but we wished we knew about it sooner so we can get away from the main parts of Williamsburg. This area is much less congested with the weekend crowds, probably due to the lack of subways nearby. Nonetheless, the hipster Willysburg vibe is not far away and the prices reflect that. Definitely not a cheap coffee/tea spot, but it’s definitely not a boring one either.

The space is beautifully designed, yet a bit impractical. A lot of people come here to work and study while enjoying beverages, so it does get a bit crowded. A big NO is that the service is very slow! Probably one of the slowest in the neighborhood. Maybe they need more stuff to match the growing demands of the customers. I would understand such timing if the drinks were matching the effort. Unfortunately its been multiple times when my coffee tasted rather burnt. Yet the tea selection is pretty amazing. Also one big thing, is that for some reason it is also the loudest coffee shop. The music is blasting if I was in the club or a rock concert. So its a bit difficult to talk, or even simply sit down and enjoy your drink.

A new joint in the neighborhood. The good: Beautiful space, tons of baked good options(and dog treats!), ok prices, good quality drinks, several specialty drinks The meh: SLOW service! Dear god, every time I have come here I’ve waited what feels like an eternity. Then the service itself has that ‘brooklyn cool’ feel to it. I’m a Midwesterner so I’m maybe a little too into people asking me how I am at restaurants, but Champion and Propeller both seem to have staff that do the friendly morning thing well. I’m not saying the service was bad here, just a little cold. Also it’d be great if they listed the tea options as well as the coffee options. I’m hoping this place works out the kinks over the coming months — seems like it has a lot of potential.

A new and welcome addition to Greenpoint. Roaster on site, spacious setting with plenty of seating(outdoor as well), quiet, bike rack, nice baristas, and of course, excellent coffee. First rate espresso in a chill setting. Will become a regular spot for me.

This space just started serving. Previously, it was used as the roasting facility for other Sweetleaf locations. Excellent coffee, quiet space, chill music: everything I’ve come to expect from Sweetleaf. They have standard espresso drinks and a variety of pastries. Vegan options available. They also have homemade dog treats for sale. The garage door opens to offer a nice breeze while sitting in café chairs or upholstered seating. All I all, a great addition to the neighborhood.
