So I recommended a friend to this place since I was happy with my haircut and blow. I told her to ask for Midra. She went in October. She had short hair already so she requested a updated haircut and a color job. First of all since, they work with Aveda hair dyes, they have a very small selection of colors — they all look like natural colors from light blonde to brownish black, (nothing in the reddish brown color scheme, which is what my friend wanted) not very appealing to the eye, but she picked a brown and I will say the color ended up REALLY nice! That was the best part! The Aveda hair dye was great! No chemicals and the hair was left shiny at the end. And the color looked natural to her skin tone and the color has lasted!
The bad part: was the short haircut. Midra started to cut the hair right away as soon as she sat in the chair. Usually, the process goes like this: dye the hair, wash and rinse color, and cut and style the hair! Not here — Midra started cutting the hair without a water spray bottle or wetting the hair. She just started chopping away without any sense of direction. Then she proceeded to dye the hair, wash her head, and then she left the salon. Midra left her co-​worker to blow-​dry the hair! Like c’mon, you should start and finish the entire process!!! Her co-​worker doesn’t even know how blow-​dry professionally! My friend was very disappointed with the hair cut and service — she went in with a bob hair style and left looking with a mushroom roundish haircut. I felt bad because I recommended her to this place! The color job was great but I think that Midra and her staff do not have any experience with short hair!!! It makes sense to me now, if you think about it many Asian women have long hair, so maybe that’s her specialty! I have long hair, and I thought she did a great job with my hair (and she cut my hair after she washed it– the correct way!), but with my friend, she just messed up. It was as if she didn’t care! Thank God my friend’s hair is growing and loosing that ugly shape!
This made me think twice about going back to this salon, unless its for a fast blow-​out!

I live in the neighborhood and every time I went she refused to do anything telling she is busy. Worst customer service. I rather go other locations at Manhattan and get better service

I gave one star because the facility was actually there. Door locked. Gate pulled down. I made reservations several weeks ago to have my hair and make up done for my son’s wedding and my daughter’s hair done for her brother’s wedding. Received 2 texts confirming my 7:45 am appointment. Well we waited, and we waited and finally had to get back to our hotel to take showers to do our own hair and make up.
No show. At all. Called after the reception and a million apologies. Blamed it on an independent contractor. Owner would call back to apologize. Here I sit waiting like I did on that Brooklyn sidewalk.
An important day and HUGELY disappointed in how much they could care less.
Do not count on them.

They were great and I am admittedly picky when it comes to my hair. They gave me a great cut, even repairing the faults of a grown out cut. They did a great color. They were so nice. I totally recommend them.

Am going there for only the second time. They were lovely when I was there before for a keratin treatment. Place is nicely decorated and gives a really peaceful feeling. Midra was really nice. I have not been back only because I am recuperating from surgery, but hope to be able to use the spa in the future. My hair came out great a number of months ago and I am certain it will be a lovely experience again. Strongly recommend this place and the serenity it exudes.

Perfect haircut and fast. A bargain, too.
Called around 3pm for a 4:30 on a Friday, but I got the sense I could have come without an appointment.
I like layers around the face, but I get nervous because I’ve had too many layers in the back, and my hair gets pyramid-​like. Told the stylist (should have asked her name), and I got exactly what I wanted.
I’ve lived in the neighborhood almost 4 years and learned of them recently by a flyer at the Greenmarket, and she said they’ve been here 3 and got licensed (or certified?) by Aveda a year ago.
Wash & cut (I only got a light blow dry, because I prefer my hair to dry naturally, but I think the price might have still been the same) = $ 25. Will definitely be back for another cut.
Also, I used the bathroom before leaving and saw a nice looking sauna downstairs (the downstairs was being renovated), so I’m excited to check that out too.

This is my go to salon! Great eyebrow threading services, and Aveda hair salon! Love this place!

I came here to get my hair done for prom back in June and more than a month later I look at my pictures that I recently got printed and admire how great my hair looked that night. Midra did an excellent job on my hair and got to be exactly how it was in the picture I showed it. Also she alter the fringe a bit to best fit my face. I’m coming back soon for a hair treatment and cut. Definitely my new favorite hair salon. Not only was the service great the environment is clean and calm

I’m so happy that I found a salon/​spa with caring and patient staff close to my home. I booked my appointment through Unilocal and that was also convenient and fast.
Midra cut my hair. She did a fantastic job and my hair is very difficult to cut. My hair is coarse and very voluminous. She definitely has the skill and patience.
I will be back not only for a haircut but they also have facial and massage services. Can’t wait to go back!

Great place and amazing experience they are very hospitable The staff are amazing definitely going back again I highly recommend it if you need some me time to relax and feel beautiful.

I love this place! I have been going here for about 2 years now. Midra is the most patient person when it comes to my beauty needs. The way she does my eyebrows are always on point and I don’t need to look to see the final results. Her salon is so big, bright and super clean. Her spa downstairs is so nice and relaxing that you forget that you are in Brooklyn. It’s a very zen place to go and you’ll walk out feeling good and relax. I recommend this place to everyone I know. Amazing service!

What an amazing place!!! I was looking for a place to get my hair done and a friend had recommended this place. I was scared at first, but from minute you walk in you feel like your in a salon in the city. I have lived in Brooklyn all my life and havent seen a place which is so clean and organized like this salon. I just loved everything about. I would definitely recommend this salon to other, trust me you won’t be disappointed!

Finally! A quality, chic and reasonably-​priced salon in my part of Brooklyn. Spirit Tree is an Aveda salon with educated, talented staff and full spa services. It’s just around the corner from all the hip cafes and shops on Cortelyou Ave. This salon is on top of the newest techniques and styles. Got a gorgeous balayage and root touch up on my naturally curly locks from young owner Midra. She was welcoming and warm. Their prices are really low, especially considering the high skill and taste level as well as the high quality products they use (I hate writing this because the secret will be out). I used a Unilocal deal which was accepted with no hassle. Midra communicated all throughout the process to make sure I was getting what I desired. BTW the place has a zen style featuring big slabs of old trees as décor and furnishings — designed and created by the owner. This place is on par with any spot in Williamsburg, Park Slope or Manhattan. I’ll be back.

So I went there again and I have to say it got worse. There was a frigid ambiance at this point with them asking my name. Right away I was wary and I made up a name which was other then mine. Then this one girl, mehvish I believe, who worked there mentioned Unilocal and how someone by the name of Anam had left a review. Okay, and why are you trying to find this person? Apparently leaving a less then five star review was a problem for these folks. Anyhow I wont be returning there. I had called ahead of time to make sure that Midran did my eyebrows and she just left when I got there. Instead of using my review to make there business better it seems like they are trying to retaliate by literally hunting me down. Very unprofessional that the owner showed all her staff my review just so that they could find me. I have to say I will go somewhere else next time not worth the stress when I am a paying customer and should be pampered. Thankfully I didnt do anything more then my eyebrows or even use my credit card because then I would have been literally in the hot seat! I have to say based on my experiences this business isn’t a reputable one and doesn’t care about customer satisfaction. Most of the staff on this occasion were downright antagonistic towards me!

Great keratin treatment! I had a Coppola treatment done. I was a bit skeptical as the process was different than others I had. (There was more sitting with the stuff on your head, and less emphasis on ironing it in.) but, it worked and looks great! I’m quite happy with it and will be back for sure. Orna

Just stopped in today. It’s a really nice place. It’s clean. The staff is friendly. Plus they do great work. I’d definitely suggest stopping in. Only $ 6 for eyebrow threading.

My first visit to this spa was all I needed. Although it is a new spa, upon first visit I decided I’ll never go anywhere else. I was provided with a welcoming a comfortable service, so good I didn’t want to leave.
