Oy… SOGOOD. A lot of the ramen in NYC lacks the rich and nuanced broth of the ramen I recently had while traveling to Tokyo. Ryujin is the first one I’ve found that was really rich and satisfying. Highly recommend the |Miso Ramen. Personally, I prefer the thick noodles cooked firm. Helps to lend a substantial texture to the meal. Enjoy! Oh, highly recommend stopping in for lunch. We had no wait at all on a Friday around 2pm! :)

I came here last night with my other half and this place wasn’t packed. The staff was nice, they greeted us right when we came in. We were seated quickly because there were of plenty of seats available. Which is good. This place is very casual but since we’re on a date I decided to dress up a bit. Now on with our food! We ordered 2 pork buns for appetizers. For entrees, I got the Ryujin original and my boyfriend ordered the Shoyu ramen. I would say portions about the same for both ramens. The only difference is my ramen has a little bit more flavor than my boyfriend’s. For dessert, my boyfriend checked in on Unilocal and we got free ice cream. Yay! I have to say they were very generous with portions. We each had 3 scoops of ice cream. I had the vanilla and my boyfriend had the green tea. As for the price, I think the pork buns was expensive. Each buns were $ 5 each. But the ramen is decently priced at $ 15. Overall, I enjoyed my date and this place. I will be next time to try out their other food.

My girlfriend and I came here last Sunday. They were very nice by offering us free drinks because their AC died. The appetizers that they served was delicious. I had the pork bun and it was very tasty. The service was very good as well. I wasn’t crazy about the original shoyu ramen. Mainly because of the pork. The pork is just very bland. I had a taste of my girlfriend’s tan-tan ramen, it was better than mine. The ramen is not bad here so if you have a craving for them and there isn’t any other option, this isn’t a bad place to go to.

This place is great. Great ramen(obviously) but also great ambiance and even better service. As expected, their ramen is their forte. It’s a little different than other ramen places in the city. The ramen isn’t too salty and has a pronounced ginger flavor. The reduced saltiness makes it a viable option on a warm day. The icing on the cake is that it’s BYOB, so it’s hard to spend more than $ 30 for a great meal. Within a week of my first visit, I was back again. And I expect to keep coming. One of the best new restaurants I’ve been to.

I had the Ryujin Original Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen. The soup was a good Shoyu soup with nice Tonkotsu broth. The noodle was thick which isn’t that common around here but it matched very well with the soup. Good choice. Chashu was good also, flavoring as well as the texture. Overall, the balance was good. I would definitely go back when I’m in the area.

Technically the first ramen on the menu(whatever the most standard one is) should only get about 3.5 stars. But I ordered the Tan Tan Men, and I’ve never had a ramen version of dan dan mian before. It was amazing! The broth was savory and substantial but not too thick, and there was so much ground beef in it. It’s a little weird how their egg is sweet but it was actually a nice counterpart to the salty broth. I really loved mine and will definitely go back soon!

hmmm i broke my rule and went into this place 30min before it was closing and there wasnt a person in site but i was hungry and wanted ramen BAD. so we asked if its okay haha i really dont mind being turned away but they gladly fed us! i ordered the spiciest ramen they had and added on extra spice. the selection of this place wasnt a lot but enough. they even had noodle selections which ive never seen before. so i def liked the options. so the food came and i enjoyed the broth, my friend thought it was salty but hmm it was good. the ground beef in the broth was really good i kept digging in my bowl and was amazed at how much meat was in here. the noodles were good. the egg was the disappointment. although i had ordered extra spicy it wasnt spicy at all which left me to believe this place is americanized. no biggy it was still a good light meal. the food was prepared by someone who was japanese and the manager was japanese i could hear them talking to each other and that really made me food good about my meal haha it authenticated the experience. but since im a ramen snob this place was just average. id give it another shot but itd have to impress me way more. this place doubles as a brunch place and is very close to lots of hipster bars. loved that as well.

So this place opened up in my area a few months back. I never had a chance to pay it a visit properly up until recently. Let me tell you, they will not disappoint you. When you walk in, you would think it is a high end establishment, however they are a very humble team of ramen chefs. Alot of people are looking for a crazy variety in ramen. however, this place is surely not like ippudo ramen or Rai Rai Ken but it’s own unique location on the corner of Grand St and Union. Décor: They managed to tie in modern and traditional Japanese décor in one shot. They also have very beautiful art created by Taiyo Okamoto which is an artist that specializes in chigiri art. Essentially it is beautifully made paper art. One fascination I had was«Metamorphosis» which looked like a young girl with gold leaf dragon horns. First impressions: I ordered the most standard of Ramen: Shoyu Ramen. is how aromatic this was. The presentation was very standard… if you also call the ladle of a spoon not an interesting key point. The ladle itself made it so much more because how it allows you to grab the very last bit of their amazing both. Their broth of favorable without being over bearing in taste. The noodles were PREFECT. Bouncy, not soggy(yes, noodles can get soggy). And their tender meats were cooked to the perfect fatty consistency that tied the whole bowl of ramen together. The garlic and scallions made me happy because even garnishes to ramen make it even more appealing. Service: The waiter assisting us with our order gave us ample time to order our food, and was quick to notice if we were low on water. To me that is a plus. In my culture, people who pay attention to the amount of water in your cup delegates the attention of the wait service. The food came quickly, and hot. End conclusions; I was very pleased. I was comfortable, cozy when I walked out from the food .I left I think maybe 20−25% tip which to me I normally don’t do but their food was good. Be sure, I will be back and soon.

Ramen is GOOD! the fried chicken appetizer is also pretty damn good. we got here a bit late but the staff was still courteous and accommodating. broth wasn’t overly salty like most ramen places and the noodles were really on point. not much of an option for dessert but its okay, this place is worthy trying if you’re desperate for ramen.

I’m going to declare this my third favorite vegetarian ramen that I’ve had in the city.(#1 is Totto, #2 is Kokage’s shojin ramen). It has a creamy(miso, soymilk) base, a choice of noodles, and some decent veggies(pickled ginger, avocado, mushrooms, spinach). It’s pretty darn salty, but not as salty as Momofuku’s which was a bit overboard. It costs $ 15 which is standard in this town. Service and décor was good. At 6:30 on a Friday, it was empty. Yeah, I eat early.

So happy to have found this place! Loved the Tan Tan Men… creamy and spicy at the same time. Solid Ramen shop! My egg was perfect — marinated and not overcooked! Can’t wait to try some other dishes.

So, I’ll start by saying that their opening didn’t look like it went so well — it’s right in my neighborhood and I was eager to try it out but my hopes became diminished based upon what looked like delays and stumbles. Early reviews also seemed to indicate it was just another knock-off joint, so I became further discouraged. I think a lot of people in New York misunderstand ramen. It’s been turned into a cult of gourmet summit — seeking, full of unique takes. It’s probably worth noting that I’ve spent considerable time in Japan and the way ramen is fetishized there is different — they are looking for the platonic ideal of ordinary, not the fanciest, most unique ramen out there. I mean, they do that too, but that’s not the hardcore ramen enthusiast’s way. I always go back to the pizza comparison — brick oven gourmet pizza is great, but it doesn’t satisfy someone craving a floppy, ordinary slice. Ryujin has done a very good job of emulating ordinary Japanese small-shop ramen, and that’s intended to be taken as high compliment. I’ve only yet had their signature bowl, and there’s things I’d change, but they did very well on the broth and noodles. Well enough for me to go back, bringing more people, and trying more things. If you’re looking for something like Yuji or Ivan, don’t come here. If you’re looking for real ramen, this is a great addition to a city that has good real street ramen in very short supply.

Given the fact that I’m changing my lifestyle, cutting weight, and eating healthily, I found out to my horror that it’s very difficult to eat right in the US! And more and more I was pushed out of restaurants by my drive to eat well. The only restaurants I can eat at from time to time turned out to be SOME Asian restaurants! I say again, SOME! This is one of them, and I had such a good time with their Tan Tan soup every Sunday around noon(a bit more quiet… more to my liking, and heck I dig the the Sunday chick… shhhh), I decided to write about ‘em. The soup’s got the perfect blend of beef, noodles, and spices for me. I am not a foodie, but I am a fitness fanatic and I like the place. It’s new, everything is clean(very important to me), and as long as it stays that way and the chef is consistent, I will be there every Sunday afternoon slurping my soup. Well done so far!

This review is for an experience I had recently, right around the time the restaurant was opening, and I only just realized this dump had a Unilocal page. Like the first review, I was hype to get ramen advertising they were a Japanese-based chain, as I’ve been to Japan several times and I’m pretty versed on what good REAL ramen is. My mom went last month and asked for a takeout menu and they allegedly had no real menu yet, so they gave her a printout of one. Needless to say they are not authentically Japanese and many of the menu items include Bao(vietnamese buns) and other non-Japanese foods, with a small handful of ramen flavors. I went back after looking to get food to go, knowing exactly what I wanted from the paper menu. Not only did they allegedly«change the whole menu» when I came, somehow the prices doubled, but they would not show me a real printed menu to confirm this. I asked for a ramen and gyoza from the previous menu and they INSISTED they didn’t have it(which is sketchy since Tonkatsu ramen is a Japanese staple.) so offered a «similar style» instead, which I assume was Miso. I got a bag, ramen, gyoza and a cheap pork bun(which was actually a BAO bun, the $ 1 Vietnamese kind) to go, which totaled OVER30DOLLARS. Surely it was a mistake but no, they insisted it was a price hike but still provided no menu with proof. I sucked it up and paid. I was horrified when I got home because the«gyoza» was ice cold gyoza that was the exact frozen variety you buy at the supermarket. The ramen was even worse– ramen noodles stuck together in a chunk and a cup of dark brown broth that tasted like watered down soy sauce and dish water, with green onions, thats it. The bao bun was terrible also. I’m not picky but it was all inedible. Please take your money to any other REAL ramen establishment and support them, not this cheap Chinese imitation.

Came to this place with kinda low expectations just because I’m picky about my ramen. But man was I wrong. It was so delicious. I started with the steamed shrimp bun which was to die for, all the flavors just meshed so perfectly together. For the entrée I went with spicy tan tan men that was: Chicken broth, with special sesame paste, topped with spicy ground pork, scallion, spinach small dried shrimp, cashew nuts, corn, bean sprouts, soft-boiled seasoned egg and sichuan pickles. It was so flavorful and the perfect amount of spice to where it wasn’t too spicy that I didn’t have to drink water every time I took a spoonful. I would definitely recommend this place. Not to mention that the service was great and on top of it.

The jury’s still out on the new noodle on the block, Ryujin Ramen. I just slurped down a bowl of shoyu ramen and it was PRETTYGOOD, but also definitely not great for the following reasons: 1. It wasn’t hot, it was luke warm. Big mistake from the authenticity perspective. 2. The soft boiled egg wasn’t a silken glob of yolky goodness, it was just half a soft boiled egg. Not criminally burnt, mind you, but overcooked. 3. The noodles and the broth didn’t quite have the happy marriage that a ramen addict hopes for. Yet still, nyc’s ramen scene is so overrated and bad that a place like this absolutely deserves a second visit from yours truly.
