Took my friend here for dinner one night since she wanted Chinese food. I decided to order what I thought she might like, and food came out quick. The waiter came over not once but at least three times asking me if my Non-Asian friend like the food. Each time I replied in Chinese, she’s fine. It became a bit uncomfortable since my friend kind of knew what the waiter was mentioning to. Food was very salty and overtly greasy. Will not come back

Very authentic food. This is not the americanized chinese food that most of us get. This is real deal stuff and it shows in its taste and quality. If you like these kinds of flavors, Do not be intimidated walking in to grab a bite you will not be disappointed. Well done restaurant on 58th!

My family and I come here on occasion to enjoy quality Chinese food(NOT the Chinese«fast-food» AKA Chinese takeout) when we want to celebrate special occasions and my mom doesn’t feel ike cooking. This is one of our go to spots for one specific reason — it has amazing honey beef short ribs! Order them, you will NOT be disappointed — but like all good authentic places, it may be difficult to order if you don’t speak the language. Pictures and pointing never hurt, right? And if you have to reference a picture and humble yourself a bit, all the better for the delicious gastronomical reward(see attached pictures)! Other than that, the Peking Style pork chops(sweet and sour sauce; shows up red and tangy) are another favourite of mine. The goose and fried chicken with garlic were dry for my liking, but I wouldn’t recommend coming here for their avian cuisine.

Despite our waitor telling us the food would take some time to make since the chefs are taking lunch break, my husband and I decided to wait anyway. Why would you tell a customer that? You don’t see alot of authentic Cantonese restaurants around the neighborhood anymore, but when you do, it’s hidden on a side street right off 8th Avenue. Anyhow, we made it in time for their lunch special(ends 3PM) and ordered 3 dishes. Says it comes with a bowl of house soup and rice, did not get the soup but was offered unlimited rice, though I could only eat so much. For the huge portions, it is well worth $ 5.50 a plate. The flavors of the food were good, everything looked fresh. Will be back!

My favorite place to get lunch take-out or a small family gathering. To be real honest, their food is a little on the saltier side but it’s what I like. The food usually comes out in big portions, hot and fresh. It’s only $ 5.50 for lunch boxes and it comes with a house soup. I get really full and satisfied every time. My boyfriend always go for the Pork Chop w. chili spiced salt and my all time favorite is the Eggplant minced chicken w. salted fish.

Possibly one of the few places to really get authentic Chinese food, and at 3 in the morning. Seriously this place breaks so many health violations I’m surprised it’s still in business. So here is the breakdown… You looking for great crab meat yee mein and salt pepper crab at 2AM? This is your spot. Flavourful, you can tase the nuances of flavours, the subtle contrast of textures, and the pride of Asian cuisine. You want cleanliness, wholesome environment, a meal that does not incorporate any combination of the three main vices of life… look elsewhere. Just for the record, ate here numerous times and never got sick.

My gut tells me that this is Lucky Eight’s spinoff but my heart tells me that this is its sister. The layout of this place is so similar, it’s scary. Many would pass by this place and not spare a glance but who am I kidding, it’s so low-key. I came here for a family dinner and I was not disappointed like I thought I would be. The food is surprisingly good and cooked and prepared differently. One of the dishes I really liked was the jumbo shrimps with mayo. The shrimps were more deep fried than usual and instead of broccoli, they use fresh fruits as alternatives, like melons and dragon fruit. I also really liked one of the fried rice we had, which had raisins and had a balance with some saltiness to it. The Hong Kong-style lobster was also delicious. The interior is one of the drive-aways but it does no justice. Really good Canto dishes, which is especially falling short on 8th Ave.

Food here is fantastic!!! Five stars for the food here. BUT!!! If you want to order deliver, you MUST know how to speak Chinese. I tried talking to three different people on the phone in English, all to no luck. So if you come, definitely order in as the food is awesome. It would have warranted a five star if they knew how to cater to non-chinese speaking customers.

Came here on a recommendation from another restaurant owner(his younger brother opened this place) with my family. We order 4 dishes, one of them being a string bean dish and one a fish. The waiter failed to tell us that the fish dish also had string beans as well(the menu didn’t say anything). So, we had tons of beans last night. It took a while for our food to come out compared to other Chinese spots too. And usually the dishes come out one at a time, not all at once. Their kitchen needs to speed up. So some fish pieces were under cooked(no surprised all the pieces were different sizes), not awesome on their part. Our steak & Chinese broccoli came out and the steak was extra chewy & tough to eat. I mean Chinese aren’t known for their steak cooking skills but I’ve had better from other places. Overall i was just not all that satisfied with my dinner. And I feel many Chinese restaurants in NYC are the same. They all settle for mediocre food. As long as people come right?
