One of the most lowkey bars I’ve ever visited. Huge open space, old rustic booths, and a friendly bartender who was willing to save a poor girl with a dead iPhone. We ordered vodka sodas and gin & tonics and they were perfectly proportioned — and for less than $ 10 a drink, this is the spot, y’all. Best of all, you can actually hear yourself have a conversation and see the person you’re chatting with. Yes to hanging out here again.

Have only been here for some Sunday trivia, but it’s always been a good time. Not sure if I would come out of my way to come to this bar on any other given day, but I do really like the calm ambiance, and the makeshift kitchen, pumping out some cheaply-made, but filling bar fare. Seriously, I asked for nachos, and they didn’t ask me what kind of meat I wanted, so they just put every type of meat they had available(chili, pulled pork, pulled chicken, etc.) Hoo-wee. The draft beer selection is pretty great, and they’re always pushing whatever new offerings they have available. What I really like about their trivia is that it’s very nicely paced, a good degree of difficulty, and they usually always end the trivia with a bonus tasting round. Basically, they put out a number of samples of an unidentified beer on their draft menu, and you get bonus points if you taste and guess correctly. Most recently, we were all certain the bonus round was a grapefruit IPA, but it ended up being something completely different. They sure know how to throw you off. Service is pretty attentive and friendly, and they really know their stuff about the beer and selections they have. Prices are pretty standard for Brooklyn, at about $ 7 for craft beer, which ain’t terrible. Will be back for Sunday trivia, most likely during the summer or days without Game of Thrones when I’m not feeling lazy.

They have a fantastic beer selection but the décor reminds me of a college common area.

Ray and Glen are awesome. Actually all the bartenders I have met there have been very cool. Great atmosphere, and good craft beer. Highly recommend it.

Stopped by on a Tues night at Pacific Standard after the Islanders game at the Barclays Center(walkable). Overall had a positive experience with some of the highlights being:(i) wide expansive selection of beers(all generally $ 6-$ 7 for drafts),(ii) friendly and attentive bartender(despite being the only guy working the bar),(iii) food available including tacos and hot dogs,(iv) specials including reverse happy hour and other nightly specials(eg, between 12a-4a, $ 5 beers + $ 4 jameson shots),(iv) good and comfortable space, especially the back room which had sofas, a library, dart board, 2 pinball machines,(v) TVs(not large) showing the games,(vi) very connected via social media and their website I would not hesitate going back to Pacific Standard. Seems like a good place after Barclays Center events or even on school night

One of my fav bars in the area. It’s never too crowded. I’ve been here on weeknights, weekend nights/afternoons and you can almost always get a table, seat, couch. Generally would stay at the bar, but was with BF this weekend and we wanted to hang in the back. There are books, board games, darts and couches – super cozy looking. Bonus: there’s a skylight. It’s a low-key, extremely chill bar if you wanted to hang back and relax. Also a huge fan of their beef jerky!

I came here to watch the Democratic Debate between H. Clinton and B. Sanders as apart of a Meetup Invitation. I convinced 2 friends to attend with me but when we walked to the back of the small bar we were told that the seating for the debate viewing was filled to capacity. I was a bit miffed about it as the Meetup Invitation stated the sitting area would be available at a certain time and I was early but I dealt. I observed the bar and saw a lot of other people told the seating was full but they were open to view the debate from the small tv they had positioned high above the center of the bar. The two friendly guys working there told me and my friends that the surround sound would work just fine so we ordered some drinks. I looked at a paper menu and saw something called a Lemonade with liquor. something. Unfortunately it tasted and looked like a cup of water with a blue tint to it. It could have been a placebo affect but I sorta felt like it contained alcohol but it tasted mainly like water. My friend ordered a Natalie something cocktail which did taste nice. Luckily, the bar squatters left just as the debate was starting so I and my friend was able to secure some seats and indeed the surround sound was pretty loud. The bartenders were pretty busy in the packed bar but luckily they did that expert eye roving thing they are supposed to do so I was able to get my drink on to the best of my ability. Thing is, the cocktails are either not that strong or my tolerance was on 100 that night. I cant complain though because I treated my friends and with my drinks the bill was still pretty small. The place is pretty divey but the crowd seemed relaxed and the workers there were pleasant and never rude to me so I may come back. I have to take away stars because when I asked about a Long Island Iced Tea I swear the waitress looked like I asked for Plutonium then told me they dont make those. Huh? Is this not a bar? I guess…

I come here from time to time because this is where I play D&D with my friends in the back. The back room is super comfortable, with lots of table space. The music is never too loud, and they are totally cool with a bunch of nerds playing d&d for several hours in the back. The bartenders/owners are really nice guys. I don’t drink beer, but they have some yummy craft cocktails. I am currently pregnant, so they give me free, unlimited seltzer which I really appreciate. I have only ever had the chips and salsa here, but my friend had the bahn mi dog and it looked delicious!

For those who have been loyal to this place for years, this place has changed for the absolute worst. I couldn’t get the bartenders attention tonight & when I did, the beer came out with 4 inches of foam. Ridiculous. Maybe everyone is too busy to notice with Pub Night & saving seats for people who don’t show up for hours… Also the crap lukewarm-looking(since I’m not about to eat stuff that looks like it’s been under the heat lamp at Denny’s for hours) food makes the place smell weird — it’s no longer about the BEERS. It’s about pleasing people who don’t know what a good beer bar actually is.

We were in Brooklyn the other night and my friend told me about this cool West Coast themed bar nearby. Being from California, I had to check it out. Most of the memorabilia on the walls is from California which made me extremely happy, haha. I got a whiskey ginger($ 7ish) at the bar and took a seat on one of the sofas. It was around midnight or so when we got there so wasn’t crowded at all. The whole vibe is very laid-back and it’s a great place to go if you wanna just talk with your friends. Bartender was friendly and the drink is strong. Highly recommended!

A pretty standard bar with a California theme and a decent selection of craft beer on tap. The room in the back is nice for relaxing on big comfy couches and a projector for sports. The bar is pretty big as well. The tap selection is pretty substantial with several California and New York craft beers on tap.

Amazing west coast beers I can’t get anywhere else. Also by far the best place to watch a Cal game– much better vibe than the Australian in Manhattan(we make the trek out to Brooklyn rather than go to the closer bar in Manhattan). People here actually want to have a beer and watch the game among friends and other alums.

This is kind of a «standard»(no pun intended) Brooklyn bar. I liked the back library-esque area where they were projecting a sports match. It is apparently known for its board games, good drinks, and challenging trivia. I want to give this bar a higher rating because any place else, I feel like this would be a solid bar option. But I can’t help but think that this bar reminds me of so many other bars in the area and Brooklyn in general for that matter. It’s supposed to be a West Coast bar, but I didn’t really pick up any California vibes minus all the Cal paraphernalia. A solid meet up place for a chill night.

Apparently this is a California bar — if that’s not at all evident by the name, décor, and clientele who embrace everything West Coast. This isn’t why I came here, I just wanted a beer. Good beer list, with a solid section of California drafts on tap. The real draw here though is the seating in the back room — a bunch of couches and tables facing a large TV playing some California football games. It felt like I was in someone’s living room. Set my beer down at a corner table next to the couch, plugged in my phone and chilled for an hour. Not many places where you can relax like that and not be bothered by staff/bar-goers. Didn’t have any food(don’t even remember if they had any). This is more of a solid hangout place.

I love this bar. There’s tons of space, the bartenders are always nice, and you can bring food in. When I used to organize CouchSurfing meetups I would just show up with 30 people and the bartenders never got annoyed that I didn’t give them a headsup, because they’re remarkably tolerant.

We were in the midst of an impromptu bar crawl, and Pacific Standard was a stop we were trying to make quick. We figured a shot was in order, but that Jameson was a little aggressive for the early afternoon. Us: Do you have Fireball? Bartender: No, this is a grown-up bar. Well, I like a bartender that will look a drunk idiot(me) in the face and call him a child. So we took shots of Jameson. Also, Pacific Standard is a really solid bar for West Coast beers and West Coast college sports, if you’re into that sort of thing. Personally, I like the beers, but can do without the college sports.

I notice on their website that Pacific Standard advertises a Frequent Drinker Program, which doesn’t surprise me at all. It feels so very much like a clique-y, niche bar where if the bartenders don’t know you, they’ll feel perfectly content completely ignoring you while serving and chatting with their friends and regulars, and treating you incredibly rudely once they finally deign to acknowledge your now-thirsty self. I have my regular establishments myself — I understand there’s a bit of a pecking order but… isn’t part of the point to foster some goodwill and generate more regulars? In addition to the consistently poor service, the two occasions I was there, there was(I hope) a plumbing issue, as the bathrooms smells absolutely putrid. So it was hard to order a drink, and then I was reluctant to use the facilities… not a great recipe for a long-term bar stay. In brief, if you’re not already a «Frequent Drinker» here, I’d recommend someplace else. It’s a shame… I love the design/layout, and how the back room feels like a totally different, loung-y entity from the bar up front. And they of course offer a generally fine beer selection. But it’s hard to enjoy a quality beer when you feel completely unwelcome. You could walk up the block to 4th Ave. Pub to find equal(or better) beer in an infinitely more welcoming environment.

I adore Pacific Standard. Maybe that’s my West Coast roots talking, but there’s something just so comforting about it. The beer selection is fantastic, and they definitely carry more West Coast beers than you’d expect to find out in New York. The bartenders are very friendly, and they’re often showing various West Coast sporting events in the back room(which is really great — it has bookshelves with books you can read while you drink, couches to get comfy, and a huge screen for games). I’m a Cal fan(go Bears!) and it definitely helps my love of this bar that they show all the Cal football games, and have tons of Golden Bears paraphernalia on the walls. I’m pretty sure the owners are Cal alums too, so that makes them extra awesome! But really, the reason I love this bar isn’t that I can watch all my games, it’s that it’s an exceptional place to hang out. Bonus points — they have It’s Its!

Before the Katy Perry concert, I was looking for a decent place to grab some drinks with my friends. After looking all over the Internet, Pacific Standard stood out to me. Not only did it have great reviews but the overall concept of this bar looked like a place I’d like to spend some time. We came here on an early Friday night and there weren’t too many people around. It’s a small place, bathrooms are tiny, but it’s comfortable and relaxed. They have a really great beer selection and the bartenders are informative and know what they’re doing(although a tad bit douche-y). The back room kind of simulates a class room with books, board games and tables to play. Pacific Standard is definitely a unique spot that gave me a lasting impression. I will definitely go back next time I’m waiting for an event at the Barclays Center; I will suggest it to others as well!

This place is a little slice of the Bay Area in Brooklyn. The front part of the bar balances slightly upscale with dive/neighborhood bar feel. The back room, looks like it was meticulously moved piece by piece from Berkeley. Lots of Cal and A’s stuff on the walls. They have the Pac-12 network here so you can almost always catch the Cal game. Unlike the other Cal bars in the city, it’s not too crowded and not too expensive. I’d rather come here from JC than a closer place in Manhattan. They serve a variety of west coast beers. More importantly, up until Fresh Direct started selling them, Pacific Standard was the only place in the NYC area that sold It’s-Its, the true San Francisco treat. An It’s-It is ice cream, sandwiched by oatmeal cookies, dipped in chocolate. Try it.
