White rye bread was soft and tastes great toasted with butter. And at less than $ 3 for a huge loaf, it was a good price. The cream puffs are gigantic and there is tart cherry filling buried inside– delicious! Service was prompt and helpful, but not welcoming and no smiles. Tip: Hot food isn’t served on Sundays.

Just had the lobster tail. Quite possibly the best pastry I’ve ever had. If you like sweet creamy goodness, then don’t hesitate! It’s loaded with cream In every bite, and delicious!

Simply the best desserts I have had in the city. The Napoleon was done well and had the perfect balance of crust, powdered sugar and of course cream. A great balance and not overly sweet. I would highly recommend this place as a must stop bakery in Williamsburg. I would also recommend making the trip out of the city to experience this great find.

I agree the service is not the best but they aren’t going for a Michelin star here. They are an efficient Polish bakery that you go in, order what you want and get out. This place is great for baked goods and prices are so much better than the Bread Bakery or even the grocery store. I come here weekly to just get half a loaf of bread since I can never finish a whole loaf myself, so they slice it up for you. Their seeded rolls are the bomb and I would recommend making burgers with it. Once you had their rolls, you can never walk into an Unami Burger or other burger places and eat the standard bun. The desserts are all good, not too sweet and prices are amazing as well. I’m so glad I live around the corner from this place.

Very rude workers inside. My wife and I were craving a cupcake and stumbled into this place thinking we had found a match. Unfortunately, no cupcakes. But that’s, ok. What really makes this place earn a 1 star is because we weren’t greeted when walking in and after my wife kindly asked if they had cupcakes a prude worker replied with a snarky attitude, «we only have what you see.» You would think that being the place was empty that a suggestion would have been made and a more friendly reply, we ultimately wanted something sweet but this place was no help at all.

I agree with the previous posting regarding the poor attitude in service. The girls working there have the attitudes of a 12 year old child. They roll their eyes and become upset if you ask a question. Its is not a desirable experience. I take my 4 year old daughter to school in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and we pass by the bakery daily. My daughter likes the cookies here and since her Babka is from Eastern Europe it was nice to have pastries that remind her of home. Since our family is from Eastern Europe I fully understand there is not going to be the big Amercian smile and greeting, I get it. But…I grew up around bakeries and I understand that service and freshness is key to any successful business and if service is lacking, I don’t care how fresh your pastries are… I would rather spend my money where I don’t feel belittle and talk down to and that’s the attitude they give here at Northside Bakery. Today after stopping in for a cookie with my daughter, the girl behind the counter with the bright blue eye liner was rude and condescending. It’s the last time I will step foot in the place. I will be sure to mention my experience to the moms at my daughters school as well. Small business shouldn’t belittle its patrons… no business should but I would expect better from a mom & pop bakery.

Great bread selection and delicious. The Polish jelly donuts are great, filled with rose jam… Still dreaming about them.

The cakes look and taste fresh. Usually get the Napoleon because of its large size. It’s price makes it hard to buy more slices to share. For lunch, I come in to grab a couple of pierogis. They have a good selection of bread and small treats like donut holes and other interesting pastries.

Best fresh-baked bread in Williamsburg! They also have delicious treats that come in generous portions and freshly-prepared foods that are super affordable. Best place to get a to-go, delicious lunch in Williamsburg at a great price.

being a jewish person visiting The Northside of Williamsburg on friday night, after the hasids are shack up for shabbos, and in need of a challah, i was surprised to find so many bakeries to be devoid of challahs. Not so for Northside. and it was delicious. I always knew we secretly had an ally in Poland. .. don’t think too hard about that one.

A fantastic Polish bakery in the heart of Williamsburg. They also have a Greepoint location as well. Amazing breads and baked goods.

Producers of bread that doesn’t taste like sponge cake, which seems to be profoundly rare in the US. Not quite as good as your average Australian bakery bread, but the best option I’ve found available in Williamsburg. $ 3.02 is a very inconvenient price for a loaf of bread, but quite good value nonetheless. This is now my regular supplier.

I have only had the paczki there, but they were phenomenal. I love that Polish speaking people are lined out the door on Fat Thursday. I can’t wait to try their other items. I’ll be back.(Said in the style of Arnold.)

Northside has the best potato latkes I’ve ever tasted that wasn’t homemade and theirs are even better than many homemade versions… crispy on the outside, light on the inside, not overly salty and with enough onion to give it some sweetness. The cabbage salad I got on the side was also excellent, with a slight sweetness to the vinegar dressing. The hot food here is weighed by the pound, as customer explained to me after I oogled her latkes and asked her whether they were good. She was spot on about them being fantastic. You can order as many or as few latkes or cutlets as you want. Not being a carnivore, I didn’t try any of the meat dishes. Tip: The Poles(who aren’t Jewish) don’t call potato pancakes latkes. Just point or say potato pancakes!

This European bakery is using all natural and fresh ingredients. Their products range from cookies, to breads, to cakes and Napoleon. I got three different items to try. First, I had a raisin and walnut roll. Don’t let the size of this little roll fool you. It’s hearty and packed with plump raisins, dried cranberries and walnuts. It’s got a great crispness and crunch on the outside, and loaded with the natural sweetness of the fruit and nuts. Then, my eyes went straight for this horseshoe looking pastry. I’d never seen one like it. Since there’s nothing in the picture to scale the size, believe me when I say it’s the size of my face(or your face, your friend’s face, whoever). The pastry itself is layered with a light and flaky pastry dough, and what I would describe as a cross between a crisp croissant and a cookie. It has a slightly savory quality to it, but mixed with the large sugar crystals on top, you get a balanced combination. Then, seeping out of the middle is this perfectly sweet prune purée meets paste. Lastly, they said that one of their most popular items was their jelly donut. Sold. This softball sized donut is pretty awesome. The dough is pillowy, light and soft and confected with powdered sugar. The amount of jelly on the inside isn’t very liberally injected, but, it is unique and delicious. It’s a bit tart from the berries, but then, out of nowhere, you have a hint of floral, potentially rosewater.

Doughnut time! A co-worker of mine lives by this bakery and once a week he’d bring in a box of doughnuts. One thing true to my heart are doughnuts. I’ll have to say these rank near the top. We usually get a choice of jelly filled doughnuts. One rose petal falvored the other raspberry. The rose petal flavor is a acquired taste and maybe off putting to some. I found it flowery but it didn’t turn my stomach. The raspberry filling are probably my favorite. Sweet and fruity and just the right amount. It’s all about the dough as the doughnut is a nice crisp doughnut fried outside and soft chewy airy inside. Always can’t get enough of these. If in the area definitely pick up a doughnut.
