My review has nothing to do with the quality of the food … It just seems the placed has closed down… The place on coney island ave, closed. yep.

I ordered from here for the first time as I am new to the neighborhood. The beef hunan was not even a little bit spicy and I found two pieces of hair in my food. I have never been so grossed out in my life. At first I thought it was my hair but then when I took a I’ve of beef all the way from the bottem on the container there was another piece. When I called and complained I was told they will give me $ 3 off next time; are u kidding? It should be free but I will NEVER order from here again.

Generally OK Chinese take out. Pretty good wonton soup. Their wontons have a thin wrapper definitely better than the thicker more gummy version. The last time I ordered from here about a few months ago I got fried chicken wings that tasted really watery. Wierded out by it, I never ordered from here again.

Last time I ate here was in 2012 and I got horrible food poisoning. I ordered a beef lomain and a wonton soup. I was sick for the next 2 days. I’m not sure how they run their restaurant now, but I’m definitely never stepping my foot inside there ever again. The place itself looks filthy inside.

I recall Mr. Tang’s Bay Ridge restaurant from when it was supposed to be something special — not a Shun Lee Palace, mind you, but a cut above the typical neighborhood Chinese-American. It was so long ago that I can’t even say whether that was true, only that that was its reputation. What I can say is that this Homecrest takeout/delivery outpost is definitely nothing special today. It’s fast, cheap and a lot of food, but no better(or worse) than dozens of similar places all over Brooklyn offering the exact same choices tasting exactly the same. It’s so unexceptional that unlike some here I didn’t notice anything unusually bad about the service: the interaction is as humdrum as you’d expect between employees who’d rather be working somewhere else and customers who’d rather be eating somewhere else. By that I mean(for one) three blocks north on Ave. U with its plethora of dim sum and other authentic Chinese options. I used to eat Chinese-American takeout about once a week; now I’m down to once a month. These days there’s a lot more interesting food out there to try.

Your typical chinese fast food restaurant. Staff is friendly and take out is always fast.

Ok, so the food is still kinda decent. Nothing to brag about though. Asian Fusion and some other places in the neighborhood have much better food. However, in light of using for the past almost 20 years, decided to get take out. Never met such rude phone order clerk. First, he messes up my order and sends chicken instead of shrimp. Second, he wants me to wait, «no matter how long it takes» to replace it, and wouldn’t give credit, although he admitted that the mistake was his. He also sent Pepsi instead of Ginger-Ale(which is not as bad as chicken instead of shrimp). I can live with Pepsi, but I should not have to wait indefinitely until they bring me a replacement. REFUSED to give his name, REFUSED to call the manager(claimed that he is the manager), and AND, insisted THATHEISTHEOWNER. Never seen a bigger moron in my life. If he ran this business, with no business or customer service skills, he would run it into the ground. Actually, it’s because of employees who don’t give a damn about long-term clients that end up driving the business to bankruptcy. until I resolve this with the owner, I will never use them again, neither would any of my friends or family members.

Pretty good takeout. I used to enjoy the Bay Ridge restaurant very much. Be forewarned… it only has a ‘B’

Ordered take-out tonight. The guy over the phone was very polite and helpful. Shrimp roll: Smaller than normal, and only had 1 small piece of shrimp. However, the casing was incredibly crispy, and the cabbage tasted very fresh. Added some spicy mustard, which definitely kicked it up a notch. Egg roll: Your typical egg roll. Decent. Average. Still, quite tasty. Nothing particularly special. Hot & Sour Soup: It’s piping hot, and sour. It’s your typical hot & sour soup. Tofu, mushrooms, egg, and broth. With a nice kick. Solid. Would order again. Vegetable Lo Mein: As you can see from the photo, not many veggies. About 4 pieces of broccoli, and a few pieces of mushrooms. But I’m in a good mood, and that’s not bothering me as much as it should. Though $ 8 for the size of a lunch special is a little disappointing. The most annoying thing about these noodles is how they’re cut. They’re all about 5 inches long — meaning, if you’re using chopsticks, expect it to take a solid hour to eat this. I’ve never had this issue with any other Chinese take-out place. I mean, it wasn’t particularly bland, but not particularly good, either. The noodles were boiled to a really mushy consistency, and clearly not fried at all. Wouldn’t order again. My boyfriend had the chicken and broccoli — It was quite good. Broccoli was fresh, as was the chicken. The sauce was great — and liquidy, not gooey. Well seasoned and flavored. He’d definitely order it again. Next time I’m gonna try the vegetable chow fun. Hopefully it’s better than the lo mein.

I admit I was disappointed when I first dropped by Mr Tang’s with my dad. I was expecting something more of a sit down place, but this place was clearly focused more on its take out business; there were only a couple tables and some mismatching chairs. However, I put my trust in Unilocal, and I proceeded to order: chow fun, jumbo shrimp, and ribs. The food was really good. It had the cleaner chinese food taste, not the greasy chinese-american food that I was expecting from the familiar chinese food takeouts. My dad also agreed, which was a relief to me, since he didn’t seem to like my choice intially. Usually we’d have to spend a lot more money for a meal in the area, by emmons ave. It was a great feeling to save some money and enjoy some great food. We’ll go with the take out next time though.

The place is alrite, the food isn’t so bad. The worst part about this place is the customer service, horrible attitude, the delivery guy takes forever. He glares at you and doesn’t even say thank you.

best chinese food I have ever tried from a takeout. My husband has been eating from there for over 20 years… I recently started eating their spare ribs and omg delicious, i’m usually not picky when it comes to chinese food, but i’ll never eat spare ribs from anywere else. Fried dumplings and seafood soup delicious as well. Oh and you know how sometimes when you get chinese take out their fried rice is all greasy– I like that btw, this place has what I like to call«clean» rice, it just looks very clean and non greasy/oily, which is good if you like that!

I eat a lot of Chinese food, it goes with my job the fact that I work late nights a lot of the time, and I just can’t always cook, I’ve tried making Chinese at home, its never as good, Mr Tang’s is my restaurant of choice when ordering, everything they make is consistently good, whether its the standards like egg foo yung, or egg rolls, fried chicken wings, or mu shu pork, its all well made, the portions are huge, and the dishes taste like what chinese food should taste like, My wife’s favorite dish is the general cheng’s chicken, I prefer the chicken with cashew nuts, although of late we’ve mostly been ordering the light menu my wife’s loves the shrimp(huge) with snow pea’s and straw mushrooms and I love the house special egg foo yung, but i’ve never had a bad poorly made or cold dish from them, my only fault of the restaurant would be not enough scallop dishes, and that even when asked not to add salt they frequently do. this is really a take out only location, they have tables but it’s less then atmospheric not wheelchair accessible
