Mike’s Dry Cleaners & Tailors

This place is pricey but that’s because Mike and his colleague do such a great job. Really solid craftsmanship and they’re always kind.

I have done dry cleaning, tailoring, and shoe repair here, and my experience has always been great. The people who run it couldn’t be nicer.

I love this place! Mike does an amazing job with my shoes they come back looking like new every time. And of course the dry cleaning is top notch. Haven had anything tailored yet but I’m sure it’s great. They even pick up my stuff and drop it off at home for no charge. Reasonable prices, it’s my favorite thing about the neighborhood.

I have had many many suits tailored by Mike and they have all turned out great. I use this place for dry cleaning as well. They are exceptional!

Mike’s is great — the work is decent and the cost is low so that’s awesome!

Mike’s did an excellent job redoing the soles and taps on my Frye boots. After three years of wear and tear, they look almost new. I picked Mike’s because of their solid reviews on Unilocal,and they definitely live up to their reputation. They are also super fast and accommodating. I dropped my boots off during the busy holiday season and they were ready, in perfect condition, 5 days later. I know I will definitely have all future shoe repair by Mike’s.

Drop-​off bulk laundry service is solid, though they do not offer a fragrance/​dye free option which is unfortunate.

Brought in two pairs of boots that seemed long-​past repair, but both were restored to near-​new condition and within just 2 days. For its high quality output alone, this place earns its high rating, but the friendly attitude and generous service from Mike and Dave also merit ringing endorsement. Don’t make the mistake of going anywhere else.

Tried out Mike’s a few weeks ago as they were one of the only legitimate-​looking zipper repair places I could find in my area. I had a zipper jammed on my jacket which stemmed from the teeth of the zipper not being straight.
He had it fixed for me the next day for a cool $ 25. It seemed a little bit pricey considering I only paid $ 40 for the jacket ($ 150 MSRP!) but what can you do, it’s New York. I just hope the zipper doesn’t go AWOL again.

Mike’s shoe repair is phenomenal. I trust my best shoes only to them. The quality of the repair work is exceptional and embodies an old world, artisinal approach. They always finish a job when they say they will, and the prices are fair. I’ve taken my shoes and boots there for about three years and their great work has extended the life of my boots and shoes considerably! Can’t recommend them enough!

I would recommend Mike’s to anyone. I go here for all my basic alterations (hemming, mostly), shoe and accessory maintenance (shoe polish, new heels, leather bag lovin’), and standard dry cleaning. There aren’t many frills here, but they always get the job done.
If I had a complicated alteration needed, or a particularly expensive item to dry clean, I might think twice — not because they’ve ever damaged an item;Mike & his colleague have always been honest and upfront with me when they don’t think they can get the job done.
It’s two guys, one Russian and one Israeli, with stories of kids and pictures if you ask. They listen to public radio and have a small television for watching the news. It it’s rainy they’ll make sure you stick around huddled inside while the rain subsides.
For a while I started using Green Apple Cleaners because they offer pick-​up and delivery, but found that items were often lost (belts of dresses, drawstrings, buttons, etc) or stains not removed. The customer service was bogus — simply unpleasant people to talk to and hard to work with. I’m back at Mike’s now!

The patent leather handle broke on my Kate Spade shopper bag. To fix it, they cut off the broken part, and overlapped the two ends, sewing them together. It looked exactly just like that — like someone cut off a pices and sewed two overlapping pieces together. There was even a string still hanging out. But, this is pretty much what I expected. You can’t really fix a handle like this and have it not look like that. However, they could have done a cleaner job with it. Also, it only cost me $ 10.

I would recommend Mike’s to any one. They recently repaired the lining of my winter coat, restoring it to good as new. I also get my dry cleaning here and it has always been fine.
