DELICIOUS! I have never eaten at the restaurant, but cannot bring myself to order from any other restaurant in this area. I highly recommend the Massaman Curry… and the calamari is like no other!

I thought this place was out of business– and if it is good riddance of bad rubbish, you could add a ton of water(really a lot a lot of water) and a bit of coconut to some Alpo(the dog food) and have yourself the same outcome its pretty bad watered down bland and not good

Gross and gross! Did I mention this place was gross! We ordered a chicken pad thai and a shrimp pad thai. The chicken pad thai had a crab or crawfish claw stuffed in the abyss of soggy noodles. The woman on the phone would only refund if they picked up the rest of our food which we gladly gave back and she wanted the claw of which we were happy to give back as well. The only pro was that delivery guy was nice.

Seems like there are a lot of jaded hipsters taking out their frustrations on this place(big surprise!) Granted that the food is very inconsistent and the service is lacking(endearingly so…) it remains a sentimental favorite in my book. The entrees are all cheap and decent from what I remember, not to mention *vegetarian friendly* which is more than I can say for a lot of places. The staff, while confused, is almost always smiling and the gloriously inept décor is a constant source of amusement. But hey, not everything in the neighborhood has to be preciously curated(Tandem, which I like.) or involve guys with skinny-jeans and my-first-moustaches swimming in overpriced duck-fat martinis(North East Kingdom, which I also like.) Also the name. Long Lai. Funny. Avoid the take-out, try the delicious Thai Roti appetizer, hold the pretension.

I gave it an extra star because it is the only thai in bushwick, that I know of anyway and will do in a moment of desperation. I have had Long Lai a couple of time and both times I was left wanting more. The chefs know how to get the flavor of thai, it was authentic tasting, but lack basic cooking ability. The meat in every dish was way overcooked and akin to show leather. The tom yum soup is way to fishy and lacks developed flavor, oh and the shrimp were rock hard. The pad thai was decent, but then again a monkey could make pad thai that is all.

I have never eaten at Long Lai, but have ordered delivery from them several times. Their food is decent, but their delivery service is beyond terrible. The wait is at least an hour and a half(I have waited up to 2 and a half hours), and 95% of the time they will mess up your order.

Worst service ever. I’ve never written a review and am sad to say this is my first one. I live about 2 blocks away from here, and normally wouldn’t order for delivery but every so often, it’s a nice thing to do, and I’ve tried eating here a few times before, always with the worst experience after. Today’s took the cake. It took them almost 2 hours to pretend to come and deliver the food. I ordered the food at 8:45PM and followed up after 45 minutes, finally decided to cancel at after it didn’t come by 10PM. Not only did they charge my card for food that i never received, they: 1. hung up the phone on me a few times while i was placing the order(should have taken it as a sign) 2. called me multiple times after i had canceled the order after waiting almost 2 hours, calling me childish names and telling me i was«bossy» for wanting my money back for an order i never got(i don’t remember the last time my ears bled via screeching, angry ladies on the telephone) 3. lied about coming to my house twice and calling me with the delivery(something they did do multiple times AFTER my cancellation when they proceeded to yell at me and call me names) DONOTWASTEYOURENERGYANDMONEYHEREONTHENASTYSERVICE, instead, walk over to the ever delightful Los Hermanos or the more expensive, but delicious Northeast Kingdom.

I joined Unilocal specifically to warn the greater bushwick neighborhood about how completely and utterly awful this place is. Having given it a shot once before a few months ago, and being pretty disappointed, i gave into my craving for pad thai and decided to give it another go. First, i was put on hold…(aka put the phone down) as the woman took about 3 other orders. I hung up, called back(chump) and said«hi! i think you forgot about me» which was met with a «oh yeah. ok whatever. what do you want». Nice. The delivery then took at least 45 minutes and when i got my order… the drinks were missing. i called, those came 45 minutes later… warm and after the meal was discarded. aside from the shit service, the food was deplorable. completely unseasoned, overcooked, clumpy, and had me puking for 2 days. In all the shitty places i’ve eaten in and ordered from in my life, NEVER have i tasted anything that immediately churned my stomach so intensely. Thai food is hard to come by out here, but i’d recommend traveling a little west or just buying those make it yourself thai food kits. Any amount of effort is worth not eating here.

I have tried Long Lai several times, hoping that I just had their food on an off day or something. Everyday is an off day at Long Lai apparently. I got to the point where I felt lucky if it was just mediocre. Most of the time though what I got was bad. Like poorly cooked noodles, weird seasoning, REALLY soupy curry, ect.

Is it possible to give no stars? Becuase this place not only gave me the runs, the food reminded me of sloppy joes served in elementary school. Please I beg of everyone not to order the chicken basil dish. The chicken is grounded and taste like armpits. I asked for mild and it was so spicy that I was beginning to think it was trying to mask the stank. I also order the cold roll. It was like eating a bunch of tasteless vegetables wrapped in sandpaper. All and all it was the worst take out I’ve ever had. Oh and I came after a good hour and a half. I live 3 blocks away.

Been here twice. First time I ate there the food was fine. Nothing special but Thai food doesn’t exactly exist in Bushwick… so I’ll give them a point for being pioneers. Decided to give it another shot on Thursday because it was raining and we didn’t want to go out. Order placed at 7:30. 8:30 rolls around… nothing. One of the main reasons we went with Long Lai was because someone said it was fast delivery and we were hungry. The spot is literally 7 blocks from my apartment, but we’re lazy and it’s raining. I call and ask if the guy left yet. The lady says he has and he should be there any minute. I feel like a jerk for calling and go downstairs to see if he’s there. Nothing. 8:45 — I’ve been standing downstairs for 15 minutes. If the guy had really left he would have been there by the time I got to the door, and even if he’s delivering on foot, he still would have been there by then. 8:55 — I call again and ask if they needed the address. SHELAUGHSATME «haha I already tell you he left with your food» ANDHANGSUP. fuck that. I’m standing outside for 25 minutes and I could have walked to the restaurant, ordered, picked up my food and walked back without having to tip a soul. 9:15 — I’m back in my apartment and am literally picking up my phone to call and tell them to take our order, cancel it, and shove it up their asses… and the delivery guy rings. I go downstairs and give him a $ 5 tip, half for riding in the rain, and half for having to deal with his shithead boss who runs the place. The food was hot so the lady obviously lied to me both times I called. Oh yeah and it sucked. The Pad Thai was like a big blob of stuck together noodles and the soup was so over spiced that my girlfriend didn’t want to eat it(she asked if it was spicy when we ordered and they said no). I’ll ignore the would-be assumed spit in our food for asking why our food took over an hour and a half to arrive. Never again.

Look, this place is the absolute worst. I’ve given them a shot multiple times over the span of nine months, and each time I eat there I literally want to die. Tonight was the last straw. I don’t even use Unilocal, nor have I written any other reviews, I just want to try and prevent people from ever eating anything from this place. — Delivery took an hour and a half. I’m six blocks away. — The drunken noodles were stuck together in clumps, and the imitation duck was disgusting. — My girlfriend got the sweet and sour beef and it tasted exactly like something from Burger King. — The brown rice came in a saran wrapped brick. — The Thai salad was made up of nothing but onions. — None of the vegetables were fresh, but you’d assume that at this point, right? I know it’s tempting to order something different in Bushwick, but AVOIDTHISPLACEATALLCOSTS. I promise it’s going to be gross. The one star is for the Thai iced tea, which my friend ordered. You can’t really mess that one up.

I would’ve given this place 2 stars if it weren’t for the friendly wait staff. As for the food, I really do want to enjoy the entrees, except they taste basically they same. There were no outstanding flavors that distinguished each dish. The only things I’d recommend are the Thai Roti and Thai Iced Tea.

Try the tropical fruit salad! In the middle of every type of Latin food imaginable is this little shop of goodness. It’s definitely a nicer alternative to the Tortillas and Chinese food restaurants, and the prices are average. The fact that it’s the only Thai place in the area makes it seem that much better.

I guess I was a lucky customer, having looked at the other ratings I think $ 7.95 for a BIG plateful of Chicken Pad Thai is a good deal(especially since I still have a lot left over!). My friend ordered the Curry Noodle Soup with Pork, and it was very spicy(he prefers spicy, I don’t), but I think you could specify beforehand whether you want it mild or spicy. I read on their menu that they accomodate special orders, and thats always a good thing. Also, the deliver was very fast, and the delivery boy was very sweet.

If you compare this to other thai restaurants it will fail, it is cheap and quick delivery. What I ordered was tofu fried rice, the fried rice was alright but the tofu was weird and not cooked right and the thai iced tea was good though and the edamemes were fine too. But anything else on the menu, I might be more hesitant on, my roommate says some items can be too oily as she orders more from them than I do.

Certainly not the best thai food ever. But… for Bushwick. its pretty good. usually get peanut curry with mock duck. Which is pretty great. Last time I tried the pad thai, not amazing. but not bad either. Edamame is salty, which i like. And the thai iced tea is also pretty decent. Pros: they deliver pretty quickly, have never screwed up my order, and the food ain’t bad. pretty big menu cons: Can’t be 100% sure everything on the menu will be equally as good

I would say that Long Lai is not the best thai food that I have had in the area. My food experience did not mirror Ting’s(I ordered different items), but I understand where she is coming from. My food was«decent». My girlfriend was not a fan of the drunken noodles though. I would have to agree that the burning styrofoam for delivery items is not a good look(happened to my calamari). Don’t like carcinogens, so second hand smoke and styrofoam are big no-no for ko-jo. I understand that Long Lai is the only Thai restaurant in this section of Bushwick amidst a sea of spanish cuisine. But, Long Lai needs to step its game up. I will give the place a point for quick delivery. I will give this place one more chance then update this review. I am glad a Thai restaurant is in my corner of the hood — it just needs a little tweaking in my opinion.

Formerly known as «Long Do», the renovations that took place in the space clearly did not improve on the quality of the food. Let’s begin at the beginning: Pad Thai: the overwhelming taste of low quality fish sauce nearly killed the dish. If you happen to encounter this dish with that terrible sour taste(and can concur it is not due to spoiled noodles), throw a pinch of sugar on it and it will be fixed. that’s what i ended up doing. Drunken Noodles with shrimp: the shrimp were clearly bad, as evidenced by the black discoloration of the shrimp tail. my suspicions were confirmed when i stupidly continued to eat 3 shrimps(in disbelief), and encountered bland mush. i ended up tossing the rest of the entrée for fear of food poisoning! The general flavor was so terrible, it erased all previous memories of what this dish is supposed to taste like. very, very sad. Papaya Salad: the hedge of lettuce at the bottom made the portion size look deceptively smaller. Considering the generous amount of carrot that was mixed in, the actual papaya may as well been a garnish. The serious lack of flavor and freshness also led me to toss this out after a couple bites. Massaman curry with chicken: the taste was amazingly right on! sure, there were only 3 cubes of potato in the whole dish, and it lacked spiciness, but the overall flavor was perfect and the chicken was plentiful. All in all, i would return here for more tastes of the different curries, and it is always exciting for me to have a place for noodles in soup, but beyond that i will be forever scarred from trying the typical staples of thai food from this place again. p. s. — with take out or delivery, the hot noodle dishes are packed in styrofoam boxes, which ends up melting the entire bottom of the box. STYROFOAM, WHENHEATED, RELEASESCARCINOGENSINTOYOURFOOD! yikes!
