I ate here once or twice a couple years ago, and I really liked it. Last night, however, was a totally different experience. The chicken salad I got was pretty good. Pico de Gallo, plantains, standard Mexican chicken salad. However, the pork nachos were truly some of the worst nachos I’ve ever had in my life. They had some horrible burnt plastic flavor that rendered them totally inedible. You could smell the burnt-chemical scent just by giving it a sniff, and it tasted like nothing but burned sadness. I’m thinking maybe somebody just really messed up the batch of pork in the kitchen. It was disgusting. It went straight in the garbage. The other issue was that I placed a pickup order on a Wednesday night, and I got a notification from Seamless saying it wouldn’t be ready for an hour. An HOUR? For pickup, on a quiet weekday night? Strange. So we went over there about 15 minutes after the order was placed. Lo and behold, the order is sitting on the counter, patiently waiting for us and already getting cold. Nobody sent us a notification that it was ready. So, it would’ve sat there for another 45 minutes if we didn’t decide to go over. Not cool, La Gringa. There was one other person in the restaurant, I feel like somebody could’ve taken 5 seconds to let us know to head over via Seamless.

I was craving Mexican, but more Chipotle-style Americanized kind of Mexican. I tried a few other places that would deliver in my area in Brooklyn, but they weren’t what I was craving: lots of beans and rice, shredded pork, salty chips. The first time I ordered from La Gringa, I ordered the pulled pork Naked Burrito, because I was craving a burrito bowl, with sides of chips and Guac and Pico. The naked burrito is now my go-to. Better than Chipotle! And the chips are amazing. I order from La Gringa more than any other delivery place. Sometimes the food arrives a bit cooler than I like, but the flavors and textures are always perfect.

I love this place. Especially their chicken nachos. I can live on them! The nachos come with black beans, sweet plantains, and if you want chicken or meat you can get it with either one. I personally like to add some parmesan cheese it is like a party in your mouth.

I came here with my buddy on a late night after some drinking. Their burritos were so on point. Service was very friendly and all their recommendations were super tasty. I highly recommend the plantanos in addition to your food! It adds a very nice and subtle sweetness to your burrito/taco.

This place has been great. It’s just good food for a good price. Quick easy and delicious. Burrito was great. Salad bowl was great but I was mistaken in thinking it was going to be a «light» choice. More like a choice with more lettuce and less tortilla. Good hot sauce. Pleased.

Awesome experience through delivery even though everyone here is complaining about how long they take. I got my food in 25−30mins. Steak burrito with extra steak and picante sauce. Mmmmm buuuurrrriiittttoooo also grabbed a jarritos to make things loco. As expected things out quite loco. Next time I’ll stop in I hear they got good deals on beer(mmmm beerrrr).

I came here on a Sunday around 8pm. They were out of taco tortillas which was ridiculous since it wasn’t even that late. Anyway I got a cheese only quesadilla. They melted the cheese with a butane torch which since I saw them doing it I knew it was a mistake. The quesadilla was disgusting. It tasted only of butane. My friends got burritos and the seasoning of the meat was good. But I really think they shouldn’t melt the cheese like that. It is disgusting. I couldn’t even finish it and it left a really bad taste in my mouth. I don’t think I would come back.

My favorite tacos in the neighborhood. The hot sauce here is no joke! This gringa can only handle the medium sauces.

I eat here maybe once a year since they have opened — I always forget why I did or didn’t like so I try it again. They are very generous with the rice but not so much on the proteins. Not that much food nor not that remarkable for the price. The sweet plantains are delicious. But I won’t likely return. There are too many other mexican places in the area that do it much better.

Really hard to mess up Tex mex food, but this place does it! Got the tilapia naked burrito and a side of chips. Pretty sad mess of beige. Fish was sparse and over cooked, as beans were few. No guacamole and they charged me extra for a couple sad plaintains. Chips are stale. Hate to complain, but this dinner was not worth the $ 10.

Sweet little taco spot in WillyB. The taco making guy looks like he hates life but the tacos are pretty good. Chicken taco with crema, chipotle, sweet plantains, pico de gallo, and Monterey Jack — SO good. I can eat like 10 of these. Going to try this on the naked burrito tomorrow Shredded pork taco with crema, tomatillo, sweet plantains, pico de gallo, and Monterey Jack — also good, should’ve gotten the chipotle sauce on this one too, it’s banginnn. Free pico and chips with Unilocal check-in but the chips are pretty stale, boo. Taco making dude needs to smile more and not hate-make tacos but I’ll definitely still be coming back for the chicken and chipotle.

Went to the La Gringa on Grand Street because we were given coupon for a chips and guacamole. Ordered a steak burrito, couple of beers and of course the chips and guacamole. First, I didn’t know it was a Chipotle rip-off, not that I care about That but I’m not in love with the style of burritos they make. As expected the $ 10 burrito was giant and the plantains gave it some flavor but the steak had none. That’s a prime ingredient people, I want to taste the steak. The chip were very thick, stale and poorly salted. On the plus side the Blue Moon in a can was nice but I don’t think they can take credit for that. There are better and cheaper places within 3 blocks of this place. I would go there before coming back to La Gringa.

Stopped in here real quick to get a pulled pork burrito the other day. It was pretty darn tasty. It stood out to me because like a typical burrito it was spicy, but it also had plantains on it that made it sweet. The combo was excellent. They sell beer for $ 3 a can here which means I’m already looking forward to my next stop in.

Surprisingly the best burrito I’ve had in NYC. I ordered the ‘Meatless’ burrito from here(with extra spicy salsa and no cheese) on a whim, expecting mediocre. As a California native, I am disappointed by east coast Mexican food on a pretty regular basis. My burrito was delicious-perfectly seasoned Mexican rice(which they prepare with vegetable stock), black beans, delicious sweet plantains, super spicy delicious pico. Perfect ratio of all ingredients, and everything tasted very fresh. My only complain is that I paid $ 1.50 extra for a side of plantains and received 3 small slices of plantain(see photo). I found this to be pretty stingy, despite feeling that this meal was certainly worth the $ 10 total price.

The first time I ate here I had a massive head cold. So all I could do is feel textures. The one thing I was impressed with right away was how tender the grilled steak was. I’m so used to the chewiness, now I know it doesn’t have to be that way. Nice. But because I had a head cold, I gave a pass on the lack of flavor. C’mon… I ate a piece of foil that it was wrapped in and I didn’t notice. So when I returned, I was expecting the perfect burrito. I don’t know what happened the second time but I was so disappointed. I bit into it waiting for this flavor explosion… Nothing. Even with the chipotle sauce. The sauce added a little heat and sweetness(I didn’t enjoy the sweet aspect) but it didn’t help the steak at all. And it was cold to tepid inside. It wasn’t like that the first time and it’s not because I was running a fever. It’s still a hearty burrito. Perfectly sized for lunch. Since I got my Reward Card stamped twice, I’m going to give it another go. Next time, if I get a cold burrito, I’m going to take it back. Life is too short to be eating cold burritos.

A cool spot. The lights are always set pretty dim. The first time I tried the chicken taco & the guacamole I knew that this would be my new favorite Mexican restaurant! One thing that I found unique about the tacos is that they add platano’s(fried plantain) in them. The tacos are priced at five dollars each but it’s well worth it because they aren’t cheap with the amount of food they add inside. I’ve also tried the naked burrito which is basically a burrito bowl & loved it. I’m now at peace with not having a chipotle nearby! I would definitely recommend!

Really yummy burritos and quite fast. We didn’t have much time before a concert but wanted to grab a bite and we were in and out in less than 30 min. I got the naked meatless burrito which is basically a burrito bowl. Added guac and crema(which is sour cream) and tomatillo sauce. Yum. Price was ok. Similar to Chipotle but I’m guessing it’s a local business so yay for supporting local businesses. I thought the meatless burrito should’ve included guac but it’s an additional charge. If you can’t handle heat, stay away from the picante sauce. My friend got it on her taco and had to go running for water. The lady at the counter gave her guac and she said it helped cool her tongue… We both thought the picante was the green sauce but that’s actually the tomatillo one. Lesson learned!
