More people need to know about this. The bread is made fresh that day, and it’s only $ 3.50. I bought the white bread, which tastes awesome with butter. It’s filling and not airy, yet it’s not rock solid dense either. You pay about $ 3 for processed bread anymore anyways, so why not get something that is more healthy for you and support the locals!

I Love getting my bread here every week. I love supporting local businesses especially when they are good like this one. The bread is so fresh and tasty.

The guy at the counter can be very slow and not very communicative, that’s the downside. The 4 stars are for the sliced loaves I’ve had here. The Health Bread is great but they put rye in it and that’s a sometimes thing for me but the multigrain Pullman is truly special. A fresh slice is soft, dense without being heavy and perfectly chewy. The flavor is mildly sweet which is offset by the generous coat of sesame seeds that add to the slight crunch of the crust. It’s a flavor I expect from a sesame bagel but to have it come from a soft whole wheat loaf is wonderful. I eat it right from the bag with nothing on it and I always finish it before it gets stale. Now I never get groceries without stopping by Karas.

I guess I just noticed it for the first time last night so I stopped in today and got a loaf of whole wheat. It was still warm and so good.

Their multi-grain«health bread» is fluffy, earthy, and slightly sweet(in a nutty way); it’s fresh, artisan-quality bread for $ 3.50. I also like their cinnamon loaves. The baker always has a peaceful, soft-spoken demeanor. This place should receive more attention; it’s a hidden jewel in our part of Bushwick. Perhaps a bit of better presentation would help.

I’ve sworn off shelf-bread(do you know what they put in the crap?!) and Kara’s has come to the rescue. I buy the health bread, obviously, and it hasn’t disappointed! Great flavor, full of nutrients, and freezes well too. The spot is nothing fancy, but the man is kind and comforting.

Husband went there at 10a on a Sunday, getting a large assortment of baked goods. All of which were stale, day old pastries. Epic fail.

Excellent health loaves available here. Though you might have to wake up the supremely bored teenager that always seems to be manning the register when I come in. Don’t expect any dine-in area, though. Strictly cash and carry.

The bread is fresh and good, not fantastic, not mind-blowing, but good. Since they’re still relatively new, I’m sure that things will get better with time. The service is excellent. Both the employees are pleasant as can be. Baguettes for $ 1.75? Tasty.

The first time I went to Kara’s, the young lady behind the counter was ripping somebody a new hole over the phone in Spanish. As i approached nervously, she yelled«HOLDON!» into the phone, turned to me and sweetly said«Sorry about that, may i help you?». The phone continued to squak away in furious Spanish, and i left with 3 loaves of awesome bread &2 danishes for less than $ 9. Their stuff is consistently outstanding, and like others have sad, there’s nothing like it in this part of Bushwick — Athom might have great pastries as well, but it’s further & more expensive. And dammit, I simply love the atmosphere.

Good bread baked fresh daily. You can get a loaf of day-old bread for 2 bucks and a fresh one for $ 3.50. I always get the day-old because it’s going to be in my fridge for longer than a day or two anyway, so what the heck? Good deal.

I don’t think this bakery is doing that well, probably because people don’t know it’s there. I especially love their«health bread,» and I’m also enjoying the pumpernickel this week. The bread is excellent, fresh and cheaper than store bought bread. It’s worth the few blocks I have to walk past the grocery store.

Fresh, close by, and featuring a pretty decent selection of goodies. And if like me you’re a little slow off the mark, Kara’s usually puts out a second round of pastries around 4pm. PS– The«health bread» is dope.

Greatly satisfied by their almond croissants and their muffins. Girlfriend enjoyed their cupcakes and their loaves of bread outshine anything close by in the neighborhood. Everything usually comes at less than expected pricewise.

I can vouch for the bread, it’s amazing, I came home yesterday with a loaf of rye literally fresh out of the oven.

My housemate & I looked forward to this place opening, and when it finally did, we were not disappointed! The cheese danishes are delicious, as are the croissants — they’re flaky and buttery without being greasy. I’ve never bought the bread, but during their first few weeks they had baskets of samples out and everything I tasted was delicious, especially the cinnamon bread. Plus, everything is cheap… I believe a loaf of bread is 4 bucks, the danishes are less than 2, and there’s coffee for a dollar.
