Jacques Torres Ice Cream

This ice cream «shop» is actually just a stand inside the Jacques Torres shop. It’s not the best ice cream ever, but it’s cheaper than Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and will satisfy a craving. The coconut sorbet and Wicked flavors are standouts and you can get 2 flavors in one scoop for $ 3.50 — love it when places understand me like that.

Came here for the ice cream sandwich after I saw this place on tv. Apparently the ice cream sandwiches were the best in the country. I beg to differ. I’ll come back but I’ll skip out on the cookies and go straight for the ice cream. The cookies were way too hard!

I got a double scoop of strawberry and banana. It was really good stuff, best ice cream I have had in a long time.

So many flavors and so good! I got the coconut sorbet and the banana flavor, that only means that I was so full and could not finish any other flavor! If I could, also want the vanilla rum, chocolate chuck flavors. They were nice enough to give me free tries so as to make sure I am getting the most that I want! Not too sweet and made fresh, love it with full heart!

Awesome little ice cream spot. Low key and much fresher than your typical ice cream parlor. And if your hankering for sweets the chocolate spot is right next door. Mmmmmmmmm

It’s a good stop for ice cream if you’re craving for ice cream while strolling around Dumbo. Good ice cream and an extremely friendly staff. They have really good vanilla milkshake!

This is the first place that I was told to go check out when I moved into the area and it lived up to all the hype! If you are in the Dumbo area you absolutely have to go and try something.
I haven’t tried much but the chocolate chip ice cream sandwich was on point. I don’t really know how to describe it because it was just delicious. The cookie had big chunks of chocolate and was sweet but not overpoweringly sweet. The vanilla ice cream was creamy and yummy. I want to eat it everyday but that would probably be really bad for my health so I’ll just have to keep it to a wonderful treat.

I was in the area for the DUMBO Arts Festival and happened to walk by the shop. I saw the ice cream shop first (right side) and didn’t see the Chocolate shop (left side) until afterwards. The location is slightly out of the way as it’s not near any train stations. It’s a small shop with some seats indoors and outdoors. The staff was very friendly and patient and offered me a sample without me asking. While the Olive Oil and Tomato Ice Cream sound tempting (if you try either, please let me know), I opted for the Sweet Almond flavor which was satisfying. It was very creamy and had the perfect sweet that I needed.

It was my first time in NY so I was just letting my friends who were already there a couple times led me anywhere they want. We found Jacques Torres in a corner of street. To be honest, I have been in Madison WI for a while now and I have always been in love with Babcock dairy hall’s chocolate ice cream and chocolate milk. I was actually amazed by the chocolate here.
I tried the mango sorbet first and my pupil dilated… it was an exaggeration, but you know what i mean. It was smooth and creamy, but for a moment, i mistaken it for a gelato. I’m from a tropical country so I have a really high expectation for fruity ice cream and this ice cream… blew me away.
Then I tried the chocolate ice cream, and I had to jump right up to the counter to order the chocolate milk shake. I will describe it as: a trip back to childhood blvd. The milk share was light, silky, smooth, chocolatey. I can taste the richness of cream and milk, the bitterness of the rich chocolate that linger in my tastebud. It was, so far, my best chocolate shake ever!
Fellow human being, I urge you to try the milkshake from this place ASAP!!!

Great ice cream spot! When we walked in, we noticed it was moderately crowded, which is always a good sign. There were very friendly people working at this location. One of them immediately offered us samples to try. The ice cream wasn’t out of this world, but it was really good. For me, ice cream is ice cream and I’m not very picky. It was a great treat after eating some yummy pizza at Juliana’s.

Mixed one salted caramel scoop with one mocha scoop. It was awesome! So creamy. Great texture. The scoops were large and service was great. Will definitely come back throughout the summer.

A small shoppe beside the Jacque Torres chocolate shop. You wouldn’t even think this is also Jacques Torres’ it was plain and simple. Looks like a regular ice cream shoppe nothing fancy shmancy. Got the salted caramel and chocolate ice creams on waffle cones. Love it! Will definitely try other flavors soon.

Stumbled by this place when my boyfriend and I arrived to smorgasburg too late. Tried three flavors and the girl was clearly annoyed with us. For $ 3.50 a scoop I expected better customer service.

You know what? This is a pretty damn good ice cream cone. Their flavors are somewhat interesting, and do change from time to time. It’s located in a bit of an odd spot without much around it, but the neighborhood has its charm nonetheless.
It’s a close walk away from some riverside staples like the River Café. It’s definitely worth a visit every time you’re in the area, because as far as ice creams go you won’t be disappointed here. It is somewhat reminiscent of Ici in Berkeley, California.

Wicked Ice Cream Sandwich for the win!
I always look forward to visiting DUMBO and Brooklyn Bridge Park during the warmer months because I know the wicked ice cream sandwiches will be plentiful in supply. Though, as a pro tip, feel free to ask for them in the off months, they might have a few hiding out in freezers in the back.
All of their ice cream sandwiches are a really good deal at $ 6 since each of the cookies alone are $ 3, so it’s like getting some delicious ice cream in the middle free of charge.
I recently walked across the Brooklyn Bridge with a couple of friends who began to look at a Mister Softee truck with lust in their eyes as they walked down the steps from the bridge and I had to pry them away with promises of the amazingness that Jacques Torres. One of my friends took my wicked recommendation. The other othered a sorbet cone, which, I’d never tried before, but now I can vouch for, at $ 4, it’s a delicious deal.

The ice cream shop is right next door to the chocolate shop in DUMBO. I tried five of their flavors (also very generous samples):
+Salted Caramel (too salty)
+Chocolate Chip Cookie (nothing special)
+Chocolate Sorbet (I like fruit sorbets more)
+Mocha (the chocolate syrup with the mocha was too much)
+Wicked (spicy chocolate – maybe a bit too spiced). I settled on Wicked and he gave me a huge scoop (HUGE) with literally an entire peanut butter cookie on top (not just a mere 2 pieces). So I felt as though I got my money’s worth which is the goal. The peanut butter cookie was a great combo with the spicy chocolate as alone the ice cream is tooooooo spicy.
FINAL VERDICT: if you are looking for artisanal ice cream, this isn’t a bad choice.

How wonderful to have an ice cream store next to a park that houses a magnificent carousel. Even better when the ice cream store serves the best ice cream sandwiches in Manhattan,.though the Jacques Torres on King Street tops it by having a worker outside to make your sandwiches fresh! On a hot summer day I rode Jane’s Carousel and then came to get the ice cream sandwich and then went back to the Carousel. Now if I could make the ice cream sandwich last, then I would ride Jane’s Carousel with an ice cream sandwich in one hand, and my honey’s hand in my other, and life would be perfect then.
$ 5.50 gets you a huge sandwich, good enough to share. My sister, a very fussy critic, keeps talking about the ice cream sandwich we shared at the Manhattan location. One of life’s simple pleasures. Vanilla or strawberry tastes the best with the cookies. I am a bona fide chocoholic but somehow, chocolate ice cream cancels out the chocolate in the cookies while the other two flavors enhance it. Vanilla is smooth and rich while the strawberry is slightly tart, a nice balance.
The frozen hot chocolate at Jacques is also amazing.

Went to Jacques Torres Ice Cream after Grimaldi’s pizza, & before Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory.
It’s a small shop with tons of chocolate things for sale everywhere.
I asked for a sample of a dark chocolate piece & wasn’t impressed. Did get a warm Wicked Chocolate Cookie for $ 3. It was very rich & huge. Ate a few bites & took the rest to the hotel to eat the next few days.

I don’t know what to make of this place. I went asking for the pistachio ice cream sandwich that Duff Goldman said was the best on Best Thing I Ever Ate.
I will now hang my head in shame and soak in your scorn as I am stripped of my Unilocal Elite status.
Anyway, the woman at the register said that they got rid of pistachio because so many people asked for it after it was on TV. She invited me to try the Guiness flavor. I did and it was nothing special. I saw a freezer in the corner that held ice-​cream sandwiches. It had a salted caramel ice-​cream sandwich. As salted caramel was not in the display case, I went with the sandwich.
My friend had a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of Guiness. He asked for some hot fudge and was told they don’t have it. The woman casually mentioned they had caramel so he went with that.
The cookies on my sandwich were out of this world. Perfect chocolate chip cookies. And the salted caramel ice-​cream was pretty awesome. My friend was really impressed with the caramel and invited me to try it. Wow! Like a trained chef whipped it up in a kitchen.
So I don’t know: they 86 their most popular flavor but then have a great sandwich anyway. They are an ice-​cream shop without hot fudge but their caramel is epic.
Jacques Torres Ice Cream, you are an enigma.

If the ice cream wasn’t served to me overly soft I would have given this place 5 stars. This little ice cream shop opened up right to Jacques Torres’ chocolate shop. The options are limited but for me there was plenty to chose from: 8 flavors of ice cream, 4 flavors of sorbet (both hand made in small batches), soft serve (chocolate/​vanilla), and a few other options like a milkshake, ice cream sandwich, or their famous chocolate chip cookies.
With a name like Jacques Torres and ice cream flavors like port and salted caramel, I thought I would be in for a very expensive small portion of ice cream. That was definitely not the case. $ 5.50 for two very large scoops of ice cream (XXL compared to most other NYC artisan ice cream places). I tried the salted caramel and the chocolate chip cookie (vanilla with chocolate and cookie pieces). It was very interesting having ice cream that had a pronounced saltiness to it but it worked and was very smooth and creamy. The other flavor was also very good. Again, it was served to me a little too soft but other than that, it was fantastic.
