Like some of the others, I bought a voucher on Groupon. I had a small oil to be stretched and framed. The owner was very helpful and friendly but, after I had an bad experience with the same groupon coupon(had to get a refund because the first place could not do it), do simply stretch the piece and put on a small black frame with blue inset came to $ 326.00OUCH. The oil only cost me $ 150. The other place would have been $ 175.00. Thus, he simply offers a deal and then when you buy it he inflates the price. Bait and Switch. Again, nice guy but there is not deal here. My total cost came to $ 216.00 for him to stretch a canvas(which cost nothing, you just have to have the machine) and the frame was worth about $ 75.00.

I came here looking for a nice frame for a family picture to hang in my dining room The guy that helped me was very patient and had a good knowledge of what would look good what a relief before I went there I thought I would get a frame and my wife would read me the riot act when I got home but on the contrary she was very happy and I think this picture will stay will stay in this frame with my family for years to come It was expensive but I feel adding in the wonderful service I got my money’s worth

So, here’s my mixed review… first off I have to say that the owner is SUPER friendly and nice… he fully explained to me the process of framing a picture and the various costs for the various things that go into framing. He never pressured me into getting one frame or another or pressuring me into the more expensive museum glass(which is incredible, btw). Now, while I listened to his shpeel on the picture framing process, I already knew everything there is to know about the process… in the past, I had used FRAMEME in Bay Ridge… I had gotten huge pictures beautifully framed for $ 80-$ 100…and I’m talking big 40″ and up. So, I had a 16×20″ picture to be framed… there was a living social deal for J Reznik studios for $ 110 worth of framing for only $ 29! Steal right!?? um, no! Again, the owner was sooo friendly… he told me right off the bat that my picture was too big for the value of the living social deal. He said if I brought in an 8×10 photo, the deal would cover it. After picking out an inexpensive frame and just regular old glass, plus matting the estimate was almost $ 400! I know he inflated the prices for the living social deal, which stinks. I just resigned myself to coming back to the studio with a smaller picture, because $ 400 was just not in my budget. Then, the owner said«wait a minute» and started searching through boxes and found a pre-made frame(a frame that was made and for whatever reason was never used)…and it just happened to be the EXACT frame that chose from the millions he has on the wall. It was the perfect size for my picture and he gave me a GREAT deal on that… I think I wound up paying about $ 130 total after the living social deal was taken into account… not a steal, but, I was satisfied with that price, being the picture was large. So, would I go back again? If they offered me a great deal, I would… otherwise they are wayyy too expensive for me. The inflated prices kind of turned me off, however, since he did wind up giving me a great deal in the end, I left there happy and I might just give them another chance… If I were you, and I had a deal, I would go in there without saying you had the deal first and see what he quotes you… then say«oh, I have a deal»…this way you can see if you are getting ripped off or not.

Incredibly overpriced. As someone who used to work in framing, I was shocked at the numbers I was quoted for my piece, which at 8×10 inches should have been relatively inexpensive to frame. Besides the fact that he continually ignored my requests for«inexpensive» and tried to up-sell me on frames and glass, once we had settled on the cheapest materials he had – non UV glass, basic matting, cheapest frame in the store – it was STILL going to cost over $ 200 – my Living Social Voucher wasn’t even going to cover half! Don’t be fooled by this scam, not sure where he’s getting his numbers from but this place is absurd.

I found this business via a Groupon and brought a few pieces in to be framed. The quotes that I was given were clearly inflated pricing designed to minimize the impact of discount that came with the Groupon. However, we negotiated and ultimately I settled on a price that certainly wasn’t a steal but was slightly cheaper than what I would have payed at my usual framers(including the cost of the Groupon). I picked up my pieces a few weeks later and was happy with the quality of the work. If you are looking for a framer that is cheap, fast and convenient, I would not recommend J Reznik. On the other hand, if you are the type of consumer that doesn’t mind paying and waiting for quality work, that is open to negotiating and that values patronizing small local businesses, this shop may satisfy you. I was generally happy with my experience with this framer. As long as J Reznik can continue to offer me competitive pricing, I will likely bring other pieces to this shop.
