Love this place!!! Their pizza is super good! I always get their pepperoni slices but I thought I would try the buffalo slice. To die for! My bf got the buffalo and barbecue. The barbecue is so delectable!!! Their garlic knots are pretty good but how can you really mess up garlic knots unless you’re an amateur warmer upper? Not likely The restaurant itself is aesthetically pleasing with their big screen tvs and cabin like décor. Definitely come to this place if you’re looking for good pizza and a relaxing atmosphere

The food is very good, the only issue is Rocco likes to price items on the spot, if you’re going to eat there, sit at a table and get a menu with prices on it and double check to make sure you were charged correctly. Rocco can be very short sometimes but the food is good.

Pizza in this place is one of my favorites although not as good as the Original House of Calzone. There calzones is amazing! The dough is the best I ever had and this is the place to get your zeppoles WOW one of the best I ever had. The negate is whenever this place shuts the back area for price parties there isn’t much seating and twice we had to eat standing up. But I highly recommend this place great food

I am obsessed with the zeppoles here. If you have a sweet tooth this place will hit the spot. They only make them on the weekends though so you have to keep that in mind. I have to be careful how many I buy because they are addicting. I have had the upside down pizza before as well and it was pretty good. I have had better pizza in Manhattan but if I want something quick I would go here. I’m happy overall with the garlic knots and meatballs as well. Definitely a spot worth checking out.

So Unilocal has been stalking me via their automated reminder(as seen below)… so I guess I should comment on Brooklyn’s Famous House of Pizza and Calzone before I have to take out a Restraining Order on Unilocal.:) The House of Pizza and Calzone offers a decent slice of pizza at a fair price. It’s our go-to pizza place. They don’t have a gourmet pie like Lucali but they are a far step up from any of the usual chains. You can buy a full pizza or just some slices and they usually have over a half dozen pies of various types ready for ‘dine and dash’ customers or they will trick out a slice for you with any toppings you like. Unlike a lot of the small shops in the area, the House of Pizza has plenty of table space, good AC, and a nice back patio. They are rarely packed and we’ve never had a problem getting a table. A few weeks ago, we showed up on a Friday night with a party of six. We got seated immediately… on a Friday in NYC, that is incredible.

Love this place and their Friday tradition of only serving the meatless cheese calzone. This is an old school Brooklyn establishment that belongs in the area. Go here for the calzones and their selection of Brooklyn soda. Pizza is good, but I have had better. There is also seating in the back. Great for showing visitors.

Invited to a ‘black tie’ pizza party here. Everyone was in suits & party dresses eating brick oven pizza with prosecco & peroni, which was a great concept. Awesome party room in the back which includes a small outdoor space. Private, yummy food & nutella zeppoli who could ask for more.

Pizza has always been good in New York, But this place is one I recommend if your looking for some quality pizza. Perhaps the upside down pizza, you also don’t want to miss out on the traditional calzone prepared and fried to perfection.

Not a fan of being called ‘guy’ and getting rushed to order & then out the door, but a really excellent fried calzone, albeit for $ 5.50(ham in it on days other than Friday). Skipped the aLocal back in 2012

Brooklyn makes the best pizza all around, and this is as good a place as any I’ve tried. I went with two vodka slices and two upside-downs. Both of them had the perfect crispy crunch to the crust with the right balance of sauce and cheese on top. That’s not easy to do upside-down! Of course, it helps that I got there at 11:30 so all of the pies were hot out of the oven. Still, anything on offer in NJ pales in comparison. It’s a bit pricy but not bad by NY standards, and there’s more than enough seating area in the back. Find this hidden gem just outside the Battery Tunnel — not much else going on there unless you work at the port, but it could be worth the detour(if you can find street parking).

I love this place, I have been coming here for 3 years now and I am always satisfied! I try new items every so often and it is always a pleasant surprise. I definitely recommend this pizza spot.

the upside down pie is ALWAYS always a fan favorite. we recently got 3 of these pies for a super bowl party and all but a few measly slices were left. you get a lot of bang for your buck($ 25 without toppings) with this pie — a great choice when you’re catering for a larger crowd or just a very hungry family. it’s filling, saucy, cheesy and just the right level of density. if you want to order with a credit card you need to jump online and order through grub hub or .

If you’re looking for the best calzones and pizza in Brooklyn, maybe even in New York, House of Pizza and Calzone is where you’ll find it. I prefer the upside pizza, always. Cheese first, sauce on top, square, fluffy and addicting — one slice is never enough(at least not for me). Also, their calzones are to die for! Fried perfectly, stuffed with the most fresh cheeses. HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who has yet to try it… And when you do, don’t forget to have an Olde Brooklyn soda on the side(Coney Island — cream soda — is my favorite).

First — the value here is the best in the area for any type of food. The garlic knots, pizza, calzones, rice balls and salad are great. We eat here regularly, and the owner Paul is a true neighbor who is always around. The place was redone a few years ago and there is now a nice patio out back. The staff are helpful and patient. Sometimes — they even have zeppole, which is served straight out of the fryer! I am gluten free now — but my kids love it – and I have salad and other options here too.

The prices are reasonable. The pizza is standard NY fare, so it’s unlikely to knock your socks off or anything. However, what I’ve tried of the rest of the menu is above average for a casual, neighborhood pizza place. Pro-tip: Get the fried calzone. It’s unhealthy, but it’s so good.

The pizza is great; upside down(L&B’s style), margarita, white, regular, etc… All great. The sandwiches are good too, but sometimes take a little while to come out. They have their own branded soda which is nice. Also, spumoni in the ices cooler, which is a nice touch. But the real gem here are the calzones. Deep fried Fridays and Saturdays, my whole family loves them and has for years.

I cant believe it has taken me this long to try these guys but I’m glad I finally did. Ordered one of my favorite sandwiches Brocolli Rabe and Sausage. It was excellent, the sausage had a nice fennel taste and was a little crunchy from the grill and the Rabe was perfect, tender and very garlicky. The way I like it. Nice pieces of garlic studded through it. The bread was good as well My coworker got the Calzone that they are famous for and I must say it looked incredible and by how fast he inhaled it I think he agreed. I will def try that soon.

If you are calzone lover this is the king of calzone. These calzones are deep fried and come one way: cheese with one slice of cold cut style ham inside. When you order it it will go in the deep fryer and you will get the freshest, most amazing calzone you have ever tried. Next, try the rice ball parm special. Anything you dreamed of about rice balls will come true with this order. Their regular slice is also very good. My final and most important advice: come on the weekend and order zeppoles. These are zeppoles like you have never tasted before and are the best that I have ever come into contact with.

I came here because of Scott’s Pizza Bus Tour. I got to try the upside down pie(tomato sauce on top so the cheese doesn’t fall off when taking a bite) and the deep fried calzone. I thought the upside down pie was pretty good and recommend trying it. It was soft and tasty. I thought the deep fried calzone tasted funny and would not recommend getting. The consistency of the cheese inside was weird to me. I would recommend taking a bite from your friend’s if he/she gets one. I don’t think this place is the best and only worth a trip if you’re on a great pizza quest. Otherwise, I wouldn’t make great efforts to come here if your time in limited in NYC.

I think its impossible I haven’t review this spot. It is my go to for Friday night pizza. Although I usually wind up with a riceball special. This is my favorite, reminds me of 80’s bensonhurst pizzeria riceballs. It’s the Sicilian type(we are not calling this ‘arancini’) a big rice ball, fried to a crisp, with sauce, meat and peas on the inside. Its drenched in sauce, with dollops of ricotta. I am starting to drool as I write this… Of note, they also do good slices, have a nice eggplant parm plate and are still charging decent prices for an ice($ 1 for a small, how I hope this never changes!!!) The people are usually on top of their stuff, although I have had an incorrect order once. I also love that they have the Brooklyn Sodas, always a nice compliment. For a pizzeria they have a really nice dining space with wood tables, AND an backyard patio. Perfect for a no frills cheap lunch. It’s not the closest pizzeria to me, but its the most authentic.
