Their Mac and cheese is the best. Their staff is friendly and helpful! We recently moved to FL and this is one of the places I miss. We were regulars!

Dropped by tonite. Everything is still the same. But note they no longer issue receipts that give you 10% off next visit.(Although they will honor them if you still have the old receipts). They launched a new loyalty stamp card program where you get a free pie after 5 meals purchased and a free meal after 10 meals purchased. Premium drafts(including Brooklyn summer ale) are still $ 4 each after 3pm(also you can redeem via Unilocal check in for a $ 3 beer)

A Co worker recommended this place for lunch, so I gave it a try. Located just 4 blocks from my school, Hill country chicken is where you got to get your southern comfort food and sandwiches. Definitely a solid spot and great options to pick from.

If I had to choose between coming here or going to another fast food chicken spot like Popeyes, I’d choose this place 9 times out of 10. I had the chicken blt which was quite delicious. The size of the chicken was much larger than expected with some crispy bacon on top. Fries were fries and the biscuit was one of the best I had. The only thing I did not like was the corn salad. Pricing here is definitely more than Popeyes but quality is much greater.

In the heart of Brooklyn just across the street from the courthouse and other government businesses, the newest addition to the Hill Country BBQ chain is the fun, yet expensive, Hill Country Chicken takeaway store. It’s great for a fast bite, but watch your calories, because as yummy as this all looks, it is still friend foods and starchy sides with tons of butter. The café has a few vegetarian choices, but for the money — I would not hold your breath. My friends who had the chicken said it was fabulous. The place is relatively high priced given that this is not a proper restaurant. For me, if I am going to pay $ 15 and up for a meal, I want to have a waitress to tip and enjoy taking to friends over my meal and not worrying about picking it up from a counter and carrying it to and from the table to the rubbish bin. I’m ok with tipping a bus-person to clear my table for me. The staff get five stars for friendly and hardworking, but the menu needs a booster and that is where the there stars comes into play. Take away the great staff, and the place would get a two and a half star rating. It would get a higher rating if the menu had a larger selection and the prices fit the fast food location that it is. This is not high dining, but priced as such.

Wow, I was really impressed with my chicken sandwich at Hill Country, so much so that I returned the next day and ordered it again. My diet and I will forever be at odds! I was going to go to Shake Shack, but decided to try something different when walking by the kitsch and inviting façade of this relative newcomer. I ultimately ordered the Kickin’ Chicken’ sandwich, that comes with chipotle mayo and kale coleslaw. I also added bacon. The chicken was moist and wonderfully seasoned without being salty. The bun was soft, the bacon was crispy and kale slaw was a unique twist. As a side I ordered the biscuit. It was equally delicious — flakey and buttery. Momma Els, founder Marc Glosserman grandmother and originator of many of the restaurant’s dishes(according to the truth, lore, or crafty marketing) would be proud. I topped it off with some butter and strawberry jelly. Delicious. One comment, though: The person I was eating with pointed out that not all of the staff have their hair up despite being around so much food. She was specifically referring to one young lady who had a very long weave. I agree, it probably is best that the staff here kept their hair up to avoid a strand ending up as a topping. Long hair, do care! Fishnets fo’ legs and fishnets fo’ hair, please. Service here was fine. I didn’t have to wait too long for my order. The sandwich was a bit expensive($ 9 with no sides), but it was so good I’m sure I’ll be back. And if I’m broke, I’ll just get a biscuit for $ 1.25. No shame.

I got to eat here and have a nice dining experience with other coworkers during a job retreat. This restaurant has such a wide variety of delicious meats(chicken and ribs) as well as sides and vegetables. The macaroni and cheese was one of my favorite dishes!

This was my first visit to a Hill Country Chicken and I can’t wait to go back! I ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich, and added cole slaw. The fried chicken may be the best fried chicken I’ve ever had!!! It came out hot, fresh & crunchy. And, the cool & refreshing cole slaw was a perfect addition to the sandwich. My sandwich came to $ 8 and change, however the portion was more than enough. I didn’t even order sides, and I still couldn’t finish the whole thing. All in all it was a great experience :) and now I’m craving more chickennnnnnnnnnnn

Overall the food was delicious. Especially the chicken. It was cooked to perfection. I had a beast and it was moist, tender and full of juices. 5 stars all the way. The brisket on the other hand was not that good. Maybe it was because he gave me the lean part but meh. 2 stars. Everything else was good. The sides was tasty and the amount nicely portioned. My only grip besides the brisket would be our waiter. She was really nice and sweet but I guess since we went late. She wasn’t really attentive. I left a 10 percent tip but if i was trying to adhere to the Asian sterotype she really only deserved 2 dollars max. Haha

The fried chicken was on point. I only had two pieces, but it was good. So don’t immediately sign off on them because of the three star review. I had to dock a point for the slow delivery service. I was located nearby on Myrtle, but the delivery took nearly 80 minutes for 2 pieces of chicken, fries, and pickles. What?! I wanted my fried chicken badly, but was too busy to step outside for it. A travesty really. Chicken. Juicy. Crispy. On point. Can y’all just sell me a bucket of this one day? That updated review will be better :) Fries. Nothing spectacular, but nothing terrible. They are your standard good fries. Solid. Pickles. Whoa a little too spicy, tangy? They were good, but sort of difficult to eat a couple of times. Definitely pair it with the chicken to make it an easier consumption. If you love fried chicken like I do, you will try this place because it always varies just enough. Check it out!

Great fried chicken option in Brooklyn. I just made it to Brooklyn from the airport and I was so happy to have walked right by this place because I was so tried and hungry. It reminded me of an upgraded version of Chick-Fil-A. I had some buffalo chicken tenders(Texas Pete I believe was the sauce). It was great!

This review is long overdue. The food is great and a lot! But, my problem was with the price of the meal… we were supposed to get the special but we didn’t! Not until we had a long dispute and went back and forth correcting the bill to reflect the ‘special’ price(making us late to an appointment). The waiter was nice enough to give us coupons to use… but sadly we have not been back… yet! I’ve walked by several times and noticed it’s very popular and busy… time for another visit! The environment was very relaxing and casual, though, so that’s a plus!

I gotta say, this fried chicken sandwich was really really good. I got the wickedwich, and it had a good mix of sweet and spice. Fries were also good. I’m not a soda person but the Boylan’s soda was really tasty. I’m also not a biscuit person, but I have to say that the biscuit tasted fresh and I would even say I liked it. Also, the staff here was super friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back!

First time here at Hill Country Chicken and I was apprehensive about eating here because I LOVE fried chicken and I didn’t want to be disappointed if it wasn’t good. Everyone’s palate is different but Hill Country Chicken definitely satisfied mine. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and very helpful. The restaurant was very clean but there was a slight chill, the temperature was in the mid 40s outside so it should’ve been a little warmer inside. My my my… how happy I was when my eyes met with my order and how much my belly was doing flips in anticipation. The chicken looked very well-seasoned and scrumptious. The chicken was very moist and tasty. I also ordered French fries that were amazingly good. I must say that Hill Country surprised me with such a delightful simple meal. It was one of the best chicken with fries meal that I’ve ever had. Be sure to stop in when you are in the neighborhood or if you want something great to eat. I will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu.

My first time trying this chicken. The chicken itself was good but i’m not impressed with the sides. I liked the fried okra but it was definitely on the salty side. The fried smashed potatoes were not what I expected and definitely lacked flavor. The milkshake on the other hand was delicious and the chicken sandwich was definitely a big portion. But i gotta say it’s kind of pricey.

Texas Southern barbecue in Brooklyn, NY that fends an outdoor rustic wood beer garden atmosphere. It bears a strong resemblance of Astoria, Queens’ Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden. Boisterously loud music(both live entertainment and background). Self-service with the same concept of Katz’s Delicatessen’s meal ticket for order pickup at the counter. Meal ticket font size is written microscopic small for one’s aged eyes. Cafeteria style large dining hall of self-serve. Wait staff will serve drinks and bring the bill and change. With my party of two whilst in Brooklyn Heights we sought shelter from the much anticipated wrath of Hurricane Joaquin October 2015. We were both wind blown and cold, but filled with the hope of food and warmth indoor setting. The air is filled with a strong stench of meat. The meat is butchered and cut in front of you on waxed butcher paper. My friend’s barbecue pork lion $ 11.97 was stone cold and mediocre quality, whereas my former love can prepare better pork lion that is piping hot, oven bake and tender. Sides are excessively over priced and categorized as: small– li’ l tasting $ 3.00 medium– good eating $ 5.75 large– Heapin’ Help $ 11.00 Non-alcoholic drinks are served in wide Kerr Mason jars. Restroom facilities are on the upper level labeled«guys» for men and«gals» for women. Moist towelettes are available on the table placement setting as well as hot sauce condiments. My friend and I were still hungry as we did not eat our fill with our respective entrée and one side. All in all, 3 stars: Excessively over priced Microscopic portions Mediocre quality food Gross vital errors for food servers wrote incorrect orders on the meal ticket The only thing I commend Hill Country is for their warming welcome of true Southern hospitality, attentive service, sincere happy smiles for the ready and willing to be of service. Customer service = 5 stars.

You know what isn’t great? Jury duty. You know what is? Fried chicken. Hill Country Chicken is located just across Adams from the courthouse, and when Kings County allows you to take a break for lunch, you should go for the Wickedwich: Fried chicken, hot honey, pickles, melted pepperjack cheese, all on a toasted, buttered roll. An excellent reward for doing your civic duty. Unfortunately, HCC didn’t agree that prospective jurors should receive said sandwich on the house(downright un-American, if you ask me), so it did cost me about $ 10. Expensive for fast food, but on par for good food. And the Wickedwich is good, even though it’s fast.

So I got jury duty, but it finally gave me a chance to check this place out. Very glad i did, it was excellent. I decided to go with classic drum & thigh deluxe combo($ 11.50) which comes with a biscuit, soda and side, which for an additional $ 1.00 I upgraded to cheesy fried mashed potatoes. I’ll start with least impressive part which was the biscuit. Not a bad biscuit, it was served warm, just nothing special, unlike the rest of the meal. The cheesy fried mash potatoes were delicious and interesting. Imagine pieces of fried hash brown mixed in your mash potatoes and doused with cheese. Probably not Weight Watchers approved, but if you’re eating here I doubt weight is your biggest concern. The star of the show, the chicken, truly shines. Served piping hot it has a wonderfully seasoned crispy skin and the meat was well brined and it taste like… well chicken. Recently I’ve been finding a lot of chicken to taste like chicken flavored tofu. This does not. So impressed was I. I returned a few days later to try the Mama Els’ fried chicken with pimento mac and cheese. While there was nothing wrong with it, I realize i don’t like pimento in my mac and cheese. Just not my taste. The mama Els fried chicken was good. Chicken just as flavorful with possibly a bit more crunchiness than the classic. Don’t think you can go wrong with either style. Also of note – 1. while I try to avoid soda(without alcohol in it) they have Boylan’s on tap here. I’m a sucker for boylan black cherry soda. 2.On both visits the staff was exceptionally nice, a nice change from typical fast food experience. 3.the do have salads and sandwiches in addition to fried chicken, so you can bring your health conscious friend.

Good chicken. Reasonable price. The corn salad wasn’t bad — it just was different than I expected(I don’t like red peppers that much) so I don’t think I’ll get that again. I enjoyed the Boylan’s soda — I got the red birch beer. Was a nice change from Shake Shack, which is normally what I get when I find myself around this area”
