Harbor View Car Service

I had a terrible experience with this car service. Called the day before to arrange a car for the next morning to go to work. A few hours later we called back to reschedule the reservation for 20 minutes later. First the dispatcher says the computer can only book reservations increments of 15 mins so it had to be 6:15 or 6:30, so we agree to 6:30.
The next morning I called at 6:25 to confirm the car and to find out if the driver was almost there. The girl who answers checks and says yes, the car should be there any minute. A few minutes go by and not a car in sight. A few minutes later I call back and she says hold on.
Then she says the driver was outside for 30 minutes and we didn’t answer the phone. I ask how he can be outside for 30 minutes when it is 6:36 and the car was reserved for 6:30? Then she says hold on and a man comes on the phone. He says the car was waiting for 30 minutes and he called the phone many times and nobody answered. I said thats impossible, I had my phone on and had no missed calls. I tell him we had called back last night to arrange it for 6:30 instead but he says has no record of that.
When I asked him what number he called, it turned out they had the wrong area code. At this point to get to work on time we have to rush up to the subway. I will never call them again!
Why did the girl first say the driver would be there any minute, instead of explaining the truth??? They have terrible customer service and dont seem to value their customers. There seems to be poor communication between day and evening dispatchers. Would not recommend!
For a car service its pretty embarrassing to get the reservation time wrong and write the wrong the area code, pathetic.

Really sad that I have to write this. However, as a long time a Harbor customer, I am absolutely done with them. Since September, I have had several instances, where I have called, in advance for a car service, and they have either been Extremely delayed, or never showed. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. I booked 24 hours in advance for car for my famliy for airport drop off. No call from them to explain delay. I called after 10 minutes then 20 minutes. Was told the Flex broke down earlier today and the other was out on another, and I guess, more important job. PS, I called UBER and will continue to do so here on out!!! Stop complaining and fix your issues.

Harbor View is pretty dependable. My company uses them for our work trips and I have probably depended on these guys no less than 30 times. Out of all of those trips, they’ve only been late to pick me up 2 times, both of which were around rush hour in Brooklyn.
Drivers are always polite and some are super friendly as well, which is nice in a city of apathetic cab drivers who only see you as a dollar sign.
Their operators are generally pretty friendly as well, and they’ve saved my butt a few times squeezing me in at the last minute when I had forgotten to call my reservation in the night before. Those great instances of service completely offset the couple times they were late picking me up, so 5 stars for Harbor View!

Agree on some reviews. Horrible. Car never even showed up. Do not use these people. Cannot be trusted.

I tried to support this local business and I will NEVER use them again. There is much going on behind the scenes and the customers are paying the price. Dispatchers expect the drivers to pay them off so they’ll send calls their way. No matter how much lead time I give them, no matter how many times I call to find out the ETA because now it’s past the time of the reservation, they still don’t send the call to the driver. I’ve been late to appointments, and to work, due to this ongoing game they’re playing. Go ahead morons, sink the ship — you’re doing such a great job of it.

Great cars. Nice drivers. Dispatchers make reservations with no plan to actually honor it. They are always late when I reserve a trip to the airport.

Terrible service even for local service it’s a minimum hour wait. The dispatchers always have attitude and are very rude.

I was going to write a detailed review because the driver I had last night was beyond belief rude and disrespectful. Then a read a few of these reviews and the reviews speak for themselves. Do yourself a HUGE favor and take your business elsewhere. With these types of reviews and plenty of other car services, Harbor View won’t be around much longer. They are terrible! PS. Even though their website clearly says they accept CC — don’t bother, they won’t take it. Worst ride ever!

I am handicapped and always call the night before so it is easy for scheduling my pickup. Usually I call early but tonight I called for a pickup tomorrow around 10:45 p.m. The guy answering the phone was a total jerk. Nasty when I tried to speak to him. Usually it rings about 5 times before a pickup. I was getting the time off my computer and the jerk answered «YEAH» I asked if it was the Car service. He replied… who the hell did you call? I couldn’t speak without him speaking over me. I will call tomorrow and speak to someone about this guy. Now wonder he is doing this for a living when there are so many more capable people that will tread customers with respect.
I have to say I finally used some pretty nasty language with him. He probably only understands one syllable words.

Just read through the reviews and you start to get a picture of what HV is like. For me — they’re reliable (in a certain way) FOR TRIPS WITHIN PARTS of BKLYN (and STATEN ISLAND — see last paragraph of review*) and I would assume to the airports. I wouldn’t ask them to take me into Manhattan, etc.
Mainly, I don’t like to use them because most of the cars (that I’ve been in) smell so heavily of cigarette smoke that I feel like I’ve smoked a pack by the time I arrive at my destination.
*NOTE: Beware of saying anything too bad about them up here. One of the drivers bragged to me about how the «girls» from the reality show «Mob Wives» are all steady customers. (btw they all chain smoke).
ps I have to digress. Mob Wives is one of the strangest things ever to hit the airwaves. The amount of silicone per capita is off the hook.

Horrid phone service — rude, yelled at me… unbelievably impolite.
Don’t use under any circumstances. Should go out of business and make the world a happier place.

Now they have a $ 30 minimum for credit cards, which is a violation of their user agreement with VISA/​MC. Never again.

This car service’s headquarters is only about 3 blocks from me. I called on a rainy night, giving an hours notice for a cab. At the time I scheduled, I went downstairs to the lobby and waited. And waited. After 10 minutes I called the company. «We’re really backed up tonight. He’ll be there in 8 minutes.» 15 minutes later I call again. «He’s three blocks away, come out and stand outside.» After standing in the pouring rain for another 10 minutes our car appeared. He didn’t know our destination (though we’d given it when we called and got a quote) and seemed irritated that I only knew the street address and not the cross streets.
I also just love it when drivers espouse their political beliefs, don’t you? (I learned that they should send Obama to Mars and that Lyme Disease is a «conspiracy,» for instance.)
I’m giving 2 (as opposed to 1) stars because the price we were quoted was honored ($ 24 from Bay Ridge to Williamsburg) and we got there safely in an efficient amount of time.

I have lived in Bay Ridge for 18 years. None of the Bay Ridge car services are very good. Individual drivers — actually most of the drivers — may be very polite and some of the dispatchers are civil but service is unbelievably uneven.
Whenever my husband or I used to all for a call from Harbor we would have to specifically ask for a car with working seat belts, an EZ pass, and tell the driver not to honk. Forget about using a credit card unless its arranged — and paid for — when you call.
Recently I called for a car to take me to Manhattan. The car was 45 minutes late. Each time I called the response I got from the dispatcher was essentially «What do ya want, lady, we’re busy.» I eventually cancelled and call another car service. Then — I know, my mistake — I had them pick me up in Manhattan to take me home. The driver did not have enough gas so we had to take the streets home and we spent 30 minutes looking for and getting gas. Ridiculous. I will never use these guys again. Sign me up for Über.

Was on a journey to L&B for Sicilian squares and found myself without a ride to Bensonhurst… So I made the call and thankfully I did.
Not only was $ 13 a deal to me to not carry a pie on the B1… I laughed the entire way with a great driver who I divulged my mother day neurosis issues to en route.

Simply the best. Towncars, reasonable price, good customer service and they never have made me wait more than 20 minutes. And that includes during peak hours! The drivers also actually know how to drive and know where they’re going in both Brooklyn and manhattan. I don’t go anywhere else for car service anymore.

I’ve been taking their cars every week for almost two years. Reliable, courteous and most importantly on time!
When they started using square and some drivers have difficulty using the system but most can handle it fine by now.
The cars are usually in good conditions and the drivers are very nice. The dispatchers don’t sound friendly but they are actually nice.

I get that all car services are probably hit-​or-​miss. These guys have never actively screwed us on a pickup, and the only real problem I’ve had with a ride was the driver who thought I was paying to hear his dumb political opinions all the way to the airport.
However, the other night I was out on Shore Rd. and I saw a man remove a small plastic bag from his trunk. It had some kind of object inside, and he winged it like a slingshot across the street and into the park. I took a closer look at the car, and it turns out he was a driver for Harbor View.
Maybe I’m weird but this bugs me MORE than a screwed up ride. With a late pickup or something you know there might be extenuating circumstances. But this guy was blatantly disrespecting our neighborhood, and there’s no excuse for that.
For the time being I’m gonna call Dyker or Mega when I need a car.

I needed to transport myself and one largish table 4 miles across Brooklyn. The driver was a good sport for my demand, helped load and unload, and got me to my destination fast and without any crazy driving (a staple of NY to be sure, but nice to go without when transporting furniture).
I feel I got a great value for the service provided, and will definitely be using them again.

I had a great experience with harbor view. I called for a cab for a friend and I to head to the city. The cab showed up on time, however my friend did not. The driver was very understanding and after a good wait I had to cancel the cab because my friend was just too late. He didn’t charge me anything and I even tried to give him a tip for his time and he refused.
I also happened to drop my keys in my frustration (doh!) and when I called later they had them at dispatch. I grabbed them later no problem.
I will definitely use Harbor View whenever I need a cab in Bay Ridge.
